Feiyu Tech G5 Gimbal for GoPro Review and Exotic Example Videos + a cool hack

07:45
What do ya think? Let me know in the comments below. I purchased a fantastic accessory, the Feiyu Tech G5 gimbal, just prior to our Myanmar trip and used to shoot a lot of the video we recorded there. I'm not big on lots of gadgets and never feel a deep need to accessorize, but I do love discovering a fab new piece of gear like this. This is not really a gimbal tutorial but I do show a lot about how to use it and various things you can to with this steady cam GoPro gimbalreview. I show you how I have used the gimbal as I travel to stabilize motion as I walk around, cross dodgy foot bridges and drive some pretty rough roads. This Feiyu Tech gimbal is made for the GoPro Hero5. I use a Hero4 so designed a hack using velcro to hold the camera on the gimbal which still allows me to have the monitor attached. I hope my gimbal test will give you a good idea of how it works and what you can do with it. . Please subscribe to keep up with all my photo and video related information. How to and When to Alter Your ISO Setting

03:09
Many people who join one of our Chiang Mai Photo Workshops do not have a clear idea of what the ISO setting on their camera is or how to use it effectively. It's important to understand ISO and know when you need to alter the setting. When the light is too low for you to maintain a fast enough shutter speed, this is a good time to raise your ISO to a higher setting because this makes the sensor more responsive to light. In bright light you are best to keep your sensor low. In this video, I cover some of the very basics of ISO and how to use it. If you'd like to learn more click on the link below to enroll in our online course "Master Your Camera, Master Your creativity" In this course I cover ISO more extensively and I also teach about aperture setting and shutter speed setting, how they work and when to alter them. I also cover the creative aspects of how and when to make change your exposure triangle settings. How to Make a Photomontage (similar to David Hockney)

02:17
How do I make a photo montage or photo joiner? Making a photo joiner is compiling multiple photos in one frame. This is a simple photo collage. But making David Hockney style photography joiners is much more complex. Joiner photos must be more than a cut up single image. In most interesting and complex photomontage examples the joiner photos are made from different perspectives. This David Hockney photo collage technique has been a passion of mine for over 30 years. The David Hockney Photo Collage Technique I was initially introduced to the concept of photo collage through a video of British painter David Hockney. He described the process and technique he used to photograph and compile his collage of photos. I was fascinated with his photo collage design ideas. He talked of how time and space could be alternatively represented with multiple joiner photos how it could not be with a single photograph. David Hockney is not really known so much as a photographer. He is famous for his paining. In the video he talked about how photographs differ from paintings. Paintings take time to produce and there are fewer limitations than with photography. David Hockney photo joiners made up from a series of photos appear more like a cubist painting, unbound by time or a single perspective. Since I started I have never lost interest in making photo collages. I go through phases where I am very creative and at other times I produce none. I am always seeking to explore and expand the way I make photographic collages. Music in the video is Word Up by Jahzzar - used under a CC license. Check out my online courses at http://www.photo-workshops-online.com I've been producing photo montages off and on for over 30 years and more recently, as technology has developed, I have been able to begin experimenting with video montages. Within this medium I can explore not only space, but time in different ways than I can with photo montages. This work was originally inspired by the British artist David Hockney. Here's my series of photo critiques. I 've been a professional photographer for over 30 years and love to share my experience and knowledge. I do this in the workshops I run with my wife based at our home in Thailand and in our online courses. Now also with this photo critique series. I also want to encourage you to analyze and evaluate your own photography. I think being able to evaluate a photograph well can help to improve your photography. Critiquing your own photographs, and other peoples, give you a deeper appreciation of photography. Both to the technical and creative aspects. You need to approach any photo critique positively, thinking beyond what you like and dislike. Photography is very subjective. In this article http://photoworkshopsbykevinandpansa.com/constructive-photography-analysis/ I will show you how to analyze a photograph giving consideration to technical and creative aspects of the art form. I will also teach you how to balance your evaluation and critique so your photography will improve. One of the best ways to improve your photography is to look at your own photos with a critical eye. Viewing the photos you have made and choosing which ones you like and do not like, and why, will help you build your own photographic style. Having a more experienced photographer critique you photos for you will help you grow more quickly. The Most Solid Photography Inspiration Ideas

07:05
Inspiration and influence are important to every creative person. Being motivated to pick up our cameras and make fabulous photographs is an essential part of our on-going development in creative photography. It's easy to get stuck in a rut. Always taking the same subjects. Always using the same lighting. Sticking with a composition style because you are comfortable with it. This will make you creatively stagnant. But how do you avoid becoming stagnant as a photographer? Especially if you have enjoyed it for some time. Keep motivated by looking at the pictures of photographers whose work you admire. Tropical Fruit

04:02
What to do in Chiang Mai? Check out 5 of the best fresh tropical fruits. These fruits are available most of the year and great to try when you are traveling. Fresh fruit is always good to include in your diet and it's fun to try new fruits when you're traveling. Some of the fruit, like papaya amd mangos I'd eatne in New Zealand, but they were imported and not fresh. Eating locally grown fresh fruit is the best ... and it's cheap! Durian will really blow your mind. It smells real weird, but the flavor and cream texture are delicious. Jackfruit is pretty awesome. It's so huge and heavy, but you don't need to buy a whole one :) There's always a lady cutting some up and packaging it for sale in small quantities right here https://www.google.co.th/maps/dir//18.7901814,99.0001452/@18.7902021,99.0002042,21z?hl=en-GB&authuser=2 at the Warorot Market in town. Natural Light Outdoor DIY Photography Studio for at Home and Travel

07:34
For more about my Natural Light Outdoor DIY Photography Studio and a gallery of photographs please click on this link: http://photoworkshopsbykevinandpansa.com/galleries/outdoor-photography-studio-gallery Natural light photography definition: Lighting for photographs is the illumination of whatever is to be photographed. A photograph records light, color, and shade; lighting is all-important in producing an acceptable exposure. Light comes from various sources. For photographic lighting, it is usually electrical using strobes (flash) or continuous lighting, (LED, fluorescent). Light from the sun is referred to as natural light. Having a good understanding natural light photography will help you to become more creative with your camera. Photographing naturally lit outdoor portraits has some advantages and disadvantages. Limited of control over lighting and backgrounds can lead to frustrations. But the sun is a fabulous light source. Learning to work with it and manipulate natural light to your needs is a good skill to acquire. Watch this video if you want to know how to make a home photography studio cheap and easy. Building your own diy photography studio setup will give you more control, more easily. You can choose your own outdoor studio background. You can also manipulate the lighting somewhat. In this video I share my outdoor photography studio ideas. Most people who own cameras do not have access to photography studios. A diy outdoor studio can be an effective alternative to using electric studio lighting and working indoors. You can build your own diy photography studio setup with a few cheap accessories. Set up a backdrop, diy light diffuser material, and reflectors. Make use of the best, biggest and brightest light source available. The sun! You are unique and creative - make sure your photographs reflect this. If you want to know how to have unique photography ideas and make your photos stand out from the crowd, watch this video. Social media has dulled us because of the masses of images we are exposed to on a daily basis. So many of them are mediocre and uninspiring. Copied from somebody else and boring. Kevin's Critique : Dusk Minimalism - Professional Photographer Critiques #003

Trying a little different approach to my critique videos after some good feedback and talking about one image per video. First, you need to subscribe to my youtube channel. Then follow this link to learn how to send me 3 photos to critique: http://photoworkshopsbykevinandpansa.com/professional-photography-critiques/ Other links are below. Here's the first in my series of photo critiques. 35mm f1.4 Lens Review

09:45
35mm f1.4 Lens Review Not a technically based review but why I love my Nikon 35mm f1.4 lens. It is a very versatile lens that is on my Nikon D800 camera most of the time. I use it for travel photography, portraits, environmental portraits and much more. I purchased this lens about 7 years ago when my trusty 50mm f1.4 lens was finally worn out after 28 years worth of good use. During the photography workshops I teach this is often the only lens I take with me now. I can use it to demonstrate and make examples of anything that I am teaching. For the subjects I like to photograph I most often use this lens. The great photographer Robert Capa said " If your pictures aren't good enough, you aren't close enough. " I find the 35mm lens is the perfect lens to get close enough with. I've had a huge amount of use out of my 35mm f1.4 lens. The experience of using it frequently and really enjoying using it, has helped me to get to know it well. Being so familiar with a lens means you can make more creative photos with it. I love this lens. I have feeling for it. I know, often by instinct, how much my background will be blurred. I can be close enough to my subject to comfortably communicate with them. I am able to include or exclude as much or little background detail as I want. Lens love is different than lens lust. You can lust after a new lens every day of the week. To build a loving relationship with a lens you must be committed to taking it out frequently and enjoying spending time with it. Check out my online courses at http://www.photo-workshops-online.com I've been producing photo montages off and on for over 30 years and more recently, as technology has developed, I have been able to begin experimenting with video montages. Project For International Justice Mission, Thailand.

01:57
Here's the link to the video we produced for IJM https://youtu.be/xW44_YzZndk We ran a special offer earlier in 2017 offering to produce a video for free for any individual or organization involved in missions work in the north of Thailand. All that we asked was that anyone interested in this free video production send us a request telling is why they would like to have us make them a video. The International Justice Mission sent us the best request, so we made them this video. We had a fun time working through the video storytelling process with them. Giving direction and helping to develop a script and then planning the shoot. We traveled together to Mae Hong Son province to record the video because they have a well-established program in that province assisting stateless ethnic minority people to apply for Thai citizenship. International Justice Mission works together with the Royal Thai Government to assist stateless people to apply for Thai citizenship. IJM works with eligible hill tribe and ethnic minority people to help them file their applications for citizenship. Since 2004 they have helped over 17,000 people gain Thai citizenship. Wow! So much Progress - Day 42

05:09
Today we have 15 fruit trees planted (taken from the large baskets they've been in for the past 18-24 months) raised garden beds finished and the boxing all in place for the concrete pour tomorrow! Suan Sook Homestay We are building a home and guest accommodation to provide lifestyle photography workshops. Our home and the first guest room are being built as one main structure, future guest rooms will be separate. The main house will include guest room, our bedroom, bathrooms, studio/gallery, store room, indoor and outdoor Thai style kitchen, outdoor dining /bbq area. We are planting 20+ fruit trees and leaving some of the existing 15 year old longan trees in place. We will have vegetable garden and other plants and flowers throughout the property. We will landscape it from a photographers perspective as our aim is to make it as photogenic as possible. It will be as organic as possible. In future as we are able to we will drill for water to avoid problems in the dry season. We will also approach our neighbour and offer to provide water for his rice fields in the dry season so we can maintain a beautiful outlook across his fields. We also have a pond at the back of the property which we'll beautify. Our plans are to eventually build three more guest rooms. These will all be stand alone and with relative privacy and stunning views. Our guests will be people who come for photography workshops and people only wanting accommodation. We are 7 minutes drive from the road that leads up the mountain and there's very little other good quality accommodation in the area. Doin Inthanon is mostly a national park so has little available accommodation. During the cool season the mountain is extremely popular with Thai tourists so we are confident we will be able to make good bookings. We are also hoping in future to install a solar system to provide our electricity needs. A Heart Warming Story of Giving A Gift

02:23
Our gift to the lovely lady at a sticky rice stall in Muang Mai Market, Chiang Mai. Her husband passed away recently and I had previously made a portrait of him, so we had it printed and framed to give to her. The video is recorded with my new phone, an Asus Zen 3. I obviously will be better off recording the audio on my zoom, but I am very pleased with the video quality. Day 04 online Photo Workshop recording in Myanmar

00:42
Another awesome day starting out in Kalaw and driving to Loikaw. It was market day in Kalaw so we were up early for another great experience. When we stopped for lunch along the way we met a lovely lady who'd been raised by Italian nuns in the local convent. She had quite a story to tell, having been orphaned at the age of 3, the youngest of 15 children and now quite lonely it seems. She had been an English teacher at the convent school. She sung us a lovely song which I've included a short segment of in this video. http://www.photo-workshops-online.com http://www.chiangmaiphotoworkshops.com https://www.instagram.com/kevin_and_pansa_photoworkshops/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/photo-workshops-online/ https://500px.com/kevinlj https://www.facebook.com/byKevinPansa/ Enroll in our FREE photography course: https://mailchi.mp/photoworkshopsbykevinandpansa/youtube

It is important to only seek critique from someone who offers it constructively and without putting you or your efforts down.
