04:23
Archaeologists have discovered new temples and standing stones at #GobekliTepe in #Turkey, a site which has been dubbed ‘ground zero for human history’ earlier this month. At the beginning of July 2018, UNESCO’s world heritage committee added the truly ancient Turkish archaeological site to the World Heritage List. Gobekli Tepe had been on the so-called Tentative List for five years before the decision was taken at the 42nd #UNESCO World Heritage List Committee meeting in Bahrain. Watch the video to learn more! Archaeologists Uncover ‘Find of a Lifetime’ in Ireland | Ancient Architects

03:30
Archaeologists in #Ireland have uncovered a 5,500-year-old #megalithic passage tomb, which has been dubbed the “find of a lifetime”. Archaeological research carried out by Agri-technology company Devenish and University College Dublin (UCD) School of Archaeology unearthed the “significant” discovery in County Meath at #Dowth Hall in the heart of the Bru na Boinne – the Boyne Valley Tombs World Heritage Site. Although smaller than #Newgrange, the new find may in fact be more important and more ancient! Watch this news update to find out more.

The Younger Dryas Event and the Birth of the Gods | Ancient Architects

12:07
Between 15,000 and 11,000 years ago the Earth and its inhabitants experienced a series of climatic fluctuations. During the ice age, it had been extremely cold, with continental glaciers extending much further than they do today, but the climate began to warm. Temperatures then suddenly reverted back and there was a short cold spell as temperatures plunged, an event known today as the Younger Dryas, before yet more warming, which marked the official end of the last ice age. But were the global changes to the Earth's climate caused by comet impacts or were they from huge solar flares and a solar shutdown? Watch the video and make up your mind. Ancient Egyptians in Ancient Ireland? | Ancient Architects

07:55
The title of this video may have you intrigued and I’m sure many of you have your doubts even before watching, but there are a number of researchers that believe they have enough evidence to push forward the idea that way back in antiquity, the Ancient Egyptians settled in Ireland. With limited, but growing archaeological evidence, as well as new interpretations of ancient Irish legends, etymological studies and DNA analysis of the ancient Irish, the claims may not be as impossible as you might first imagine. Two Sphinx Monuments in Ancient Egypt - The Proof | Ancient Architects

05:48
Researchers are claiming that there is a second #Sphinx on the Giza Plateau, situated under a mound next to the #GreatSphinx. Although there is evidence, this doesn't seem to be the case but sources say that in the times of #AncientEgypt, there WAS a second Sphinx on the opposite side of the River Nile. Far from being like its limestone counterpart, the second Sphinx was most likely a mudbrick construction and has likely been wiped out by the migrating #RiverNile. Watch the video to learn more. Over the past 40 years, material scientists have conducted tests on the #Egyptian #pyramid stones and the scientific consensus is that the outer casing stones were in fact created from a man-made limestone-concrete mixture, known as a #geopolymer. The claim, although underpinned by scientific research in unsurprisingly not accepted by Egyptologists, but could certainly be a form of lost, ancient high technology. Watch the video to learn more. 30-Ton Sealed Black Granite Sarcophagus Discovered in Egypt | Ancient Architects

06:37
On July 1st, 2018 it was reported that a huge, 30-ton sarcophagus was found below a building in Alexandria in Egypt. Inspection of the sarcophagus revealed that it is made of black granite, 265cm in length or 8 feet 7 inches, and 185cm in width or 6 feet. The security forces coordinated with the Engineering Department of the Armed Forces, as well as the Tourism police, to extract the sarcophagus. It is the largest granite sarcophagus ever found in Alexandria and it was found close to an alabaster stone head, which the experts are saying was a depiction of the man who owned the tomb. The sarcophagus is thought to come from the Ptolemaic era but it could potentially be far older. Interestingly, the sarcophagus is sealed so its secrets are waiting to be discovered. Heatwave Reveals More Ancient British Sites | Ancient Architects

07:55
Back in July 2018 I made a video that showed how the record-breaking #British heat wave this summer has revealed a vast amount of crops marks, which are unmistakably the outline of historic buildings and structures. And now, yet more discoveries have come to light. Archaeologists working with #HistoricEngland, a British historical preservation body, took to the skies to find the hidden markings from past archaeological sites, which become more and more apparent following dry soil conditions. Duncan Wilson, chief executive of Historic England said: “This spell of very hot weather has provided the perfect conditions for our aerial archaeologists to see beneath the soil.” From a personal level, the most exciting discoveries are these two rectangular crop marks photographed near Milton Keynes. To the untrained eye they appear somewhat mundane and non-descript, but they are unquestionably the outline of #Neolithic #cursus monuments, which date back to approximately 3500 BC. These monuments are arguably the most mysterious of ancient Britain, as nobody knows for sure what their purpose was. Watch this new video as I give a short overview of the new ancient sites found in Britain in August 2018. All images are from Historic England. The Mystery of Gobekli Tepe + Comet Impact and Constellation Carvings | Ancient Architects

04:42
#GobekliTepe in Turkey is arguably the most important archaeological site ever discovered, built around 12,000 years ago. Nobody knows what it is but some have discovered that carvings have alignments with the stars and point to a comet impact thousands of years ago! The ancient size is the size of 13 full size football fields and is only around 15% excavated, with hundreds of standing stones still unexcavated. The megalithic site may well tell us what happened at the #YoungerDryas and what brought the Earth out of the Ice Age. So much is to be discovered. 10,000 Year Old Civilisation Discovered in India | Ancient Architects

05:06
Archaeologists have unearthed thousands of ancient petroglyphs that could be linked to an unknown Indian civilisation from 10, 000 years ago. The incredible images, very reminiscent of the Nazca Lines in South America, were found hidden beneath the soil atop hillocks in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. Experts believe the carvings, known as petroglyphs, were created by a hunter-gatherer community - because many of the images are drawings of animals, but of course at present this is just speculation. The discovery also suggests the civilisation could have migrated to India from Africa, as many of the animals are not native to the area, but were prevalent in Africa. Ancient Pyramid, Lost City & Human Sacrifices Discovered in China | Ancient Architects

04:38
A 4,300-year-old city, which houses a massive step #pyramid that is at least 230 feet high and spans 59 acres at its base, has been excavated in #China, archaeologists reported in the August issue of the journal Antiquity. For five centuries, a city flourished around the pyramid. At one time, the city encompassed an area of 988 acres, making it one of the largest in the world, the archaeologists wrote. Today, the ruins of the city are called "Shimao," but its name in ancient times is unknown. The remains of numerous human sacrifices have also been discovered at Shimao. "In the outer gateway of the eastern gate on the outer rampart alone, six pits containing decapitated human heads have been found.” Watch the video to learn more about this exciting, groundbreaking discovery. Ancient Ceremonial Complex Discovered in Britain | Ancient Architects

07:22
Archaeologists have unearthed a "phenomenal" Neolithic enclosure and trackway along the cable route for a £2.5 billion wind farm. Experts have said that the large ceremonial complex in Suffolk is a discovery of "international significance" and I’m happy to read that on the back of the discovery, Scottish Power Renewables is now altering the 23-mile long cable route around the area to protect the find. The site at Woodbridge is one of 50 excavation sites along the cable route, but it is certainly the most important discovery. What was, on the surface an apparently featureless site, was in fact a discovery that that has astounded the experts. When the topsoil was removed, clear spring water bubbled up from the ground, and with it came massive, perfectly preserved timbers. Watch the video to find out more and please subscribe. New Nazca Lines Found in Peru | Ancient Architects

06:42
Etched into the high desert of southern Peru more than a millennium ago, the enigmatic Nasca Lines continue to capture our imagination. But recently, using drone cameras, scientists have discovered new spectacular line drawings in Southern Peru – and they are much older than the famous lines of the Nasca province. Until this recent discovery, we knew of more than a thousand of these line drawings, also known as geoglyphs or ground drawings, that sprawl across the sandy soil of the Nasca province – a little-understood practice that some believe was to encourage rainfall, whilst others think they may represent star constellations, although all the ideas remain speculative. Now, Peruvian archaeologists have discovered more than 50 new examples of these mysterious desert monuments in the adjacent Palpa Province, traced onto the earth’s surface in lines almost too fine to see with the human eye. With the help of drones, archaeologists have mapped them in never-before-seen detail. Watch this video to find out more. All images are taken from Google Image Search for educational purposes only.

DISCOVERY: Is THIS the Oldest Portrayal of The Sphinx? | Ancient Architects

If you follow my channel, you’ll have seen that over the past few weeks I have taken a closer look at the Sphinx as well as the origins of dynastic Egyptian history. The subject of Early Egypt is huge and even when I uploaded my last video, I knew that my ideas would no doubt develop as I learn more, but I didn’t think they would develop quite so quickly, because what I think I have discovered is the first ever depiction of The Great Sphinx, and it has been hidden in plain sight for years. The Ancient Astronomers of Göbekli Tepe | Ancient Architects

10:28
What has been called the world’s oldest temple, #GobekliTepe, in Southern Turkey, may have been built to worship the dog star, Sirius, according to one researcher. The hypothesis was published in New Scientist magazine back in 2013 but the discussion about the claims has recently caught my attention. Giulio Magli, from the Polytechnic University of Milan in Italy, simulated what the sky would have looked like from Turkey when Gobekli Tepe was built, and believes that #GöbekliTepe was built to track the dog star, Sirius. But researcher Andrew Collins disagrees and believes that the ancients looked north, and Gobekli Tepe actually tracks the star Deneb of the constellation of Cygnus. Ancient Giza: A Pre-Dynastic Egyptian Settlement | Ancient Architects

11:54
In my last video I put forward a new hypothesis that this strange character found on the famous Narmer Palette is in fact the oldest portrayal of The Sphinx in history, which, at the time when Narmer unified Upper and Lower Egypt around 3,100 BC, was likely to be the most important monument in Lower Egypt, hence it’s inclusion on the palette. But there is more to pre-dynastic Giza than just the Sphinx, with pyramids occupying the sites where the pyramids were built, ancient temples and a causeway that may be as old as The Sphinx. Ancient Maya Civilisation Destroyed by Massive Drought | Ancient Architects

04:04
Scientists from the University of Cambridge and the University of Florida have discovered than an enormous drought that swept across Mexico 1,000 years ago triggered the demise of one the world’s great ancient civilisations – the #Maya. The downfall of such a mighty #AncientCivilisation has been the source of much debate and the idea that drought was responsible has been mooted for years, but researchers have discovered that annual rainfall decreased between 41% and 54%, with periods of up to 70% at the time the region’s city states were abandoned. During the 9th century however, there was a major political collapse in the central Maya region: their famous limestone cities were abandoned and dynasties ended. The Maya people did survive beyond this time, but by the time the first Europeans encountered them, their power was considerably depleted. Doggerland: The Cradle of Ancient British Neolithic Civilisation | Ancient Architects

18:39
The sunken landmass of #Doggerland in the North Sea was once home to an estimated 100,000 people, sinking under the waves at the exact time when #Neolithic culture arrived in #AncientBritain and Scandinavia. It is my belief that this lost civilisation transformed Britain around 4000 BC. Were the people of Doggerland responsible for sites such as #Stonehenge, #LongBarrows and #CursusMonuments? Doggerland may well have been the cradle of British civilisation. Images are taken from Google Images and are for education purposes only.

The Location of the Egyptian Hall of Records Revealed | Ancient Architects

14:44
My previous video on the natural outcrop of Gebel Gibli at Giza has had a fantastic response, so in this video, I’ll be looking into this area in far more detail as I look to reveal the location of the fabled Hall of Records. All indications show that the Hall of Records is the same location at the ancient House of Sokar, entrance to the Ancient Egyptian underworld or duat, a mythical, yet very real place, and in this video, I reveal it's location. The Great Pyramid of Egypt: The Well Shaft and The Grotto Explained | Ancient Architects

16:13
The Great Pyramid of Egypt is an enigma, but two of the most mysterious parts of this colossal construction are the so-called well shaft and the grotto, more crudely constructed than any other part of the pyramid with a function that, like most parts of the pyramid, is largely misunderstood or misinterpreted. In this video, we look at the ideas around the well shaft and the grotto and I explain how it is an intergral part of the pyramid water pump hypothesis put forward by engineer, John Cadman.
