Ekiadolor residents protest against govt's neglect of institution
Pedestrian and vehicular movement on Benin-Lagos Express Way by Ekiadolor Community was completely crippled for several hours following protest by inhabitants of Ekiadolor Community and Students of the College of Education now known as Tayo Akpata University of Education over alleged neglect of the Institution by Edo State Government. Oba Ewuare 11 Foundation empowers some Libya returnees
In fulfillment of his promise to some Libya returnees, the Omo N'Oba N'Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare the Second has presented twenty thousand naira each as monthly allowance to seventy-eight Libya returnees in Benin City. Patience Osarogiuwa reports that the seventy-eight returnees are part of the one hundred and twenty-eight Libya returnees earlier scheduled for the monthly stipends. Presenting the monthly allowance of twenty thousand naira each to seventy-eight Libya returnees through the Oba Ewuare the second foundation, the private secretary to the Oba and secretary of board of trustees Oba Ewuare the second foundation, barrister Esosa Eremwanarue said the gesture was to give succor to the down trodden in the society which is part of the pet project of the Benin monarch. Barrister Eremwanarue intimated journalists that the foundation which was established during the first year coronation anniversary of the Oba is to alleviate poverty in the land and empower citizens. He noted that the monthly stipends which will last for the next three months after which the returnees would be engaged in various skill acquisition programs to better their lots and will take care of their immediate needs. He also informed journalists that the palace is working on modalities to incorporate other returnees who were also at the palace on a courtesy visit. The face of Oba Ewuare the second foundation Miss Ifueko Aideyan outlined some of the objectives and programmes that are being put in place by the foundation.
