How to Get The Right Hat for Your Face Shape & Body Type - Fedora, Panama Hats, & Felt Hats For Men

Fort Belvedere Knit Ties - https://gentl.mn/2CdPEVG For a larger gentleman: If you, for example, wear a little one, it makes you look even bigger. If you have a small hat like this one with a not so wide crown and a very short brim, it makes the person look automatically bigger; so that's something you should always avoid. On the other hand, a larger hat makes everything more proportional, more suitable, and the wearer doesn't look oversized. The same is true for the hat band, ideally, you go with something quite wide that has a very low contrast to the hat, ideally in the same color. If you're a bigger gentleman and you want to snap your brim down, that's okay but rather than having just a slight snap, try to snip it all the way down and get a really deep snap, that way it suits your silhouette more. The brim should be rather wide, at least two and a half inches which are about six and a quarter centimeters. Fedoras are a great hat for larger men and so are Homburg hats with a certain size. Short, slim, or the modest man: If you're shorter, you'll always benefit from wearing a hat because it elongates your body and makes you look taller. Rather than having a rather wide crown, it pays to have it pinched to a point because it just flatters your short silhouette more. Also, rather than going with a tone in tone hat band, it pays to switch it up for something that's contrasting. Tall and thin men: Ideally, you don’t want to accentuate your height even more which means don’t go for a high crown. Instead, go for medium to low crowns. Facial Features: Big Nose: Rather than having it curled up, you definitely want to snap it down. Rather than going for a very pointy pinch, go for something that's a little wider. Slim brims that are snapped up or just slightly snapped down are your enemy because they will just accentuate the size of your nose. Receding chin: Definitely make sure to avoid a big hat and a full crown because that will just highlight your receding chin, likewise, don't snap your hat too much because it's not an advantageous look for you. Chiseled features: you want a hat with a slight pinch on the crown that is not too small and you want a nice deep snap. It's definitely best to not tilt your hat but keep it straight so everything looks more proportional. In order not to highlight your chiseled features, I urge you to stay away from a very tall crown or a very slim brim. Round faces: If you're a man with a round face, avoid getting hats that are too small. You don't want something that has a really pointy crown, and you also don't want to have a very slim brim that is not snapped down all the way; just makes you look goofy and disproportionately large. Protruding ears: it's very important that you have a wider brim that is snapped down and not snapped up. The brim is important because it doesn't highlight the size of your ears or the shape, but it rather helps to cover them up. Opt for a wider crown that is not too pointy, although a little point is alright. Also, go with a wide hatband that's ideally somewhat contrasting because of your ears, it really pays to not just snap down the hat in the front but also in the back. If you have protruding ears, you definitely want to avoid small hats with shorter brims and anything that is pointed up. #hatsformen #menshats #notsponsored --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Peacoat Guide - How To Buy & Pea Coat Style Tips

05:56
Discover more about the iconic Peacoat, Its history, sizing style tips and where to buy. Click here to get to the full Pea coat Guide: http://gentl.mn/peacoat-guide Interested in the tie I am wearing? Visit the link: Madder Print Silk Tie in Orange Red with Buff Micropattern Medium Size: https://gentl.mn/2kZzAPc I'll briefly discuss the Pea coat's history, its characteristics, the fabric and how you can buy one and what you pay attention to. It's not entirely clear where the Peacoat actually came from: - There is a Dutch version that says it came from the word "pijjakker". - There is a Reefer version which came from the men who climbed up the mast. -Others say it was the British manufacturer Camplin in the 1850s who invented it. -Some others argue that it first appeared in the tailor and cutter in 1869 as a pea jacket. One of the most important parts of the Pea coat is its fabric. The fabric used for Pea coats is called Melton, which is a woven fabric usually made of a 100% wool sometimes with a cotton weft. I suggest you go with a hundred percent wool versions which are higher quality and overall the coat is not that expensive. One of the defining parts of the Pea coat is its collar. It's called an ulster collar, it's very wide and it allows you to actually pop it up and button it that's why you have an extra button here on the side, that way, you're protected from the elements and it keeps you really warm when it's raining or when it's windy. A Pea coat has 8 buttons, it's always double breasted so four on one side and four on the other side. Then, you have a 9th button on top that allows you to wear your collar closed and protect yourself. The traditional pea coat buttons have a little anchor on them and are black plastic buttons and they're very popular and you see them all over the place today. Even brands like Ralph Lauren have come up with their own interpretation of that style but if you go to a regular military surplus store, they will definitely have the original navy issue pea coat. Of course, they've changed a little bit over the years but basically, you just have two options, you have black plastic buttons or you have gold brass buttons. The black plastic buttons are reserved for sailors at the US navy whereas the gold buttons with the eagle on them are reserved for officers and chiefs. The traditional cut of the pea coat is rather slim and it's actually wide at the bottom because the reefers had to move up and down the mast so they need a little bit more space. Usually, you will either see two short side vents or no vents or center vents for pea coats. The length of the pea coat is very important and it just reaches down to your hips maybe just a little below your hips but not any longer. Basically, you can cover a jacket with it and it's just a good alternative to have in your closet because it provides a different more youthful look. Pea coats have been around for a long time and even today, you can find old ones from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s or whenever. Every Pea coat comes with a little bit of history, you can usually find the owner's last name in there and if it was a US navy pea coat, you can always find the four last digits of the social security number. There is a store called Sterlingwear in Boston, I suggest you look on eBay, military surplus stores or consignment stores, you'll always find them there and they are usually well under a hundred dollars and considering the quality and the warmth, it's an amazing deal. Make sure you get the heavy about 24 ounce, 750 grams melton cloth. ======================================= To never miss any of our videos again, sign up here for free: http://gentl.mn/1S60nk9 Want to see more videos? 10 Wardrobe & Clothing Maintenance Essentials - How To Take Care Of Your Suits, Pants, Shoes, Hats

18:30
More on Wardrobe Maintenance, here: https://www.gentlemansgazette.com/wardrobe-maintenance-essentials/ SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. White Spray Rose Boutonniere - https://gentl.mn/2ugj41T 2. Houndstooth Bourette Silk Tie - https://gentl.mn/2ugn0iY 1. Closet organization. A functioning closet is the base of your wardrobe because if it works, you have the right height of your hangers, you organize it in a way that nothing gets lost and that you maximize the space that you get out of it. 2. Quality hangers. I urge you to invest in good hangers with a wide shoulder pad because it protects your jacket shoulder so you can wear the jacket for 30-40 years without having any issues. On top of that, a sturdy, felted trouser bar prevents trousers from sliding down and if you have enough space, you can even double or triple up your pants in case you have more pants than jackets. 3. Invest in a good iron and even more importantly, an ironing board. Not all irons are alike. mot people can afford a regular steam iron, it's a consumer grade but it has a good amount of steam holes and you have to refill the water on top and that helps to release wrinkles in your shirts or your suits. 4. Garment steamer. Even though you can use a regular iron that has a steam button to get some steam out of it, it's very little compared to a designated garment steamer. I use a garment steamer especially when I change seasons when I go from winter to spring summer and vice versa. 5. Clothes brushes. They work particularly well in conjunction with steam. What they do is release dirt and they help to keep the intergrity of your garment. If you bursh regularly, your garments will last longer because there's less dirt so moths will get to it less easily and overall, with a clothesbrush, you want something that is not too stiff and not too soft because for your garments, it really has to get under it and you don't want to damage them. 6. Shoes accessories. The first thing you want is a shoe horn simply because it helps to protect the cap of your shoe when you put them on. Another item is shoe trees. It elongates the life span of your shoes tremendously. A shoe shine kit comes in handy because it's a place where you can store all your shoe polish, your cloth, your brushes, everything you need. 7. Garment bags. It's ideal if you transition your wardrobe in and out and you want to store it away but protecting it at the same time. 8. Off season storage. It's very tempting to leave your entire wardrobe in your closet or where it's easily reachable all year round but in reality, you will only access a limited amount of clothes at a time. 9. Good maintenance services and with that, I mean people like menders or maybe a neighborhood lady who's very good at sewing or patching because eventually, things will go wrong, you'll wear something out, you'll have a stain that won't come out in the dry cleaner and having someone who can help you with that is really essential and you don't want to miss that. 10. Alterations tailor. No matter if you mostly have custom garments or if you buy everything off the rack or vintage, the alteration tailor should be a man's best friend. Why? Simply because there's not a single thing off the rack that will fit you perfectly simply because you're a human. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Is It Worth It? Montblanc Meisterstück 149 146 144 Fountain Pens, Ballpoint & Mont Blanc Rollerballs

13:41
Learn more about the intricacies of the Montblanc Pens: https://gentl.mn/montblanc-fountain-pen CHECK OUT OUR FIRST "IS IT WORTH IT? VIDEO - https://gentl.mn/2zHeAUI #notsponsored #montblanc #fountainpen SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Wool Challis Tie in Turquoise - https://gentl.mn/2htOdwR 2. Silk Pocket Square With Paisley - https://gentl.mn/2zycvwB 3. Monkey's Fist Knot Cufflinks - https://gentl.mn/2zDmald 4. Dark Grey Socks with Burgundy and White Clocks - https://gentl.mn/2iaLupf WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THESE PENS? First of all, it is a timeless and classic design. It has a torpedo shape and it was first introduced to the market in 1951. I also like it a lot because it's the biggest pen in the Montblanc fountain pen range, and it's very thick with about 13 millimeters at the grip. I find it's a great fountain pen to take notes and especially for signatures because you can untwist it with just one rotation and quickly sign it, and if you have a nib with a certain width, you get a really characteristic look that is very hard to fake or copy. I really like the 149 for its large gold nib. Montblanc has excellent nibs that have the right amount of springiness without being too boring, very comfortable to write, and because they're made out of gold, they will easily adapt to your hand and to your writing and they will remain like that for years to come. Something all Montblanc pens had since almost the beginning is the hexagonal white shape on top of a black background. It's supposed to resemble the snow on top of the Montblanc mountain in France which is the highest mountain, and they chose it because supposedly they wanted to represent the high quality and Montblanc pen was supposed to be the best in class. As you might notice, all Montblanc nibs have 4810 on it which is actually the height in meters of the Montblanc mountain. Is the Montblanc Meisterstuck 149 Meisterstuck fountain pen worth its money? When I bought the Meisterstuck 149 10 to 15 years ago, I paid about a quarter of what I would have to pay today. So to me, that's a great investment even though if you consider inflation. Also, the Montblanc 149 is a very recognizable writing instrument, it's used by several heads of states around the club to sign certain things, it is made of a resin these days which is very scratch resistant and nice to the touch. So if you have large hands and you like a classic design that stands the test of time that will have a value that increases over time even though you use the pen, then it's definitely worth it. Alright, now that you know the 149 is worth it, what about other Montblanc pens? No matter what Montblanc item you have, it will always be a recognizable status symbol no matter if it is gold, rose gold or platinum. If you are into calligraphy, there are probably other pens that you want to look into though. How does a Montblanc compare to Waterman? I prefer it any day! If that is too flashy for you, it's maybe not the right brand for you. Also, other Montblanc models have come and gone over time, but the one concept that has always been in their lineup is the 149. #isitworthit #montblancmeisterstück #notsponsored --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Watches Of World Leaders & Prominent Figures | (Trump, Putin, Pope Francis, Dalai Lama & More)

How To Pack A Carry-On Suitcase For A Short Business Trip - Packing Tips & Hacks From a Travel Pro

07:44
Pack your carry on like a PRO: https://gentl.mn/how-to-pack-a-carry-on Travelling for a longer period of time? https://gentl.mn/2Dq8tpF SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Two-Tone Knit Tie in Black and Magenta Pink Changeant Silk - https://gentl.mn/2kBW7VE 2. Burgundy Silk Pocket Square with little Paisley Motifs - https://gentl.mn/2yVfdbF 3. Blue Socks with Red and White Clocks - https://gentl.mn/2ycUuT8 First of all, if you go with air travel, I suggest you go with a spinner suitcase with nice wheels that roll very easily so you can maneuver it very easily, but it should also be stable so you can put a little briefcase or another carry-on item on top of it while you walk with it. Packing a small carry-on suitcase is very different from packing a larger spinner suitcase, so if you want to see how a larger one is packed please check out this video here. So how do you pack a small carry-on suitcase? First of all, put out all the items you want to bring on your trip onto your bed or maybe on the floor if the bed is not large enough. Remove all excessive items and only bring the bare bones you really actually need. If it's just a one-day business trip, you simply need one pair of shoes, and I simply suggest to wear it. If it's a two or three-day business trip, you want to bring another pair of shoes but that's it. I always suggest to go with black cap toe Oxfords, maybe Balmoral ones that add a little decoration, if you have very big feet, maybe a derby shoe is the way to go. First, let's start with the pants. You want to fold them in thirds because that way, it fits into your suitcase. lay that on the flat side of your carry-on suitcase. In this video, I'm using a small houndstooth suit simply so you can see better how I fold it. If you got a business trip, probably a solid navy suit, or charcoal, or light gray, or gray suit, are the better way to go. Second, if you have a three-piece suit with the vest, you simply take the vest, fold it in half and make sure the top ends align, as well as the bottom tips of the waistcoat, then you simply just roll it up. Again, you have a nice little fabric roll, now put the roll aside. Now, it’s time for the jacket. Take the left sleeve and pull it inside out, make sure to pull it all the way through. Now on that same sleeve, go to the shoulder and push it, and fold it inside out, this creates the perfect shape and it fits right into the opposite shoulder that wasn't folded. We do this to protect the shoulder so doesn't get crushed and wrinkled. Now take the rolled-up waistcoat, and stuff it into the shoulder area so it gives it additional support and prevents it from wrinkling. Now you fold up the jacket so it lays neatly in the case on top of the pants. Usually, there's a little gap on top of the shoulder, I use that to roll up some ties and ideally, knit ties because they're less prone to getting wrinkles. Now, it's time to close that compartment and let's look at the other side of the suitcase. The socks, underwear, and undershirt, that didn't fit into my shoes now go in between the telescope mechanism so we create a somewhat flat surface. I put in the shoes sideways so they use up as little space as possible. Maybe if you want to bring a sweater or a cardigan, now is the time to put it in here. If you want to bring a long sleeve polo shirt for a casual evening outing, I usually roll it rather than folding it because a. it's quicker, b. it saves me space and c. it's not prone to wrinkling as much as let's say a dress shirt. If you want to bring any other folded items such as a t-shirt, an undershirt, I would roll those as well. Once you've put all the things in, it's time to fill the gaps. Maybe you want to bring suspenders, they should be rolled up and you can stuff them in a gap. Usually, somewhere around the shoes, with a belt, you can also roll it up but if you don't have enough space anymore, you can simply unroll it and lay it around the edges, that way, you'll maybe fit even more things into your suitcase. #howtopackacarryon #travel #howtopack -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Blazer Guide For Men - How To Wear Navy Blazers, How They Should Fit & Buying Tips

09:18
For an in-depth guide to navy & striped blazers, click here: https://gentl.mn/blazer-guide #blazer #mensblazer #notsponsored Get the accessories I’m wearing: Burgundy Silk Pocket Square with little Paisley Motifs: https://gentl.mn/2kYzC9V Knit Tie in Solid Pale Yellow Silk: https://gentl.mn/2lA9pS3 The blazer is an integral part of every gentleman's and every man should have at least one. So, what exactly is a blazer? First, it's a stand alone jacket with non-matching trousers and it can mean a different color, a different pattern, and different texture. So you can have worsteds, flannel, even tweed or striped trousers and it will all qualify as a blazer combination. A blazer is either a jacket with a solid color such as navy blue, I'm wearing here or it could be of stripes, usually bold stripes, not a pinstripe, not a chalk stripe. Anything else like houndstooth, checks, is not a blazer. Most blazers in the market today come in a solid, navy blue such as the ones you can see here. Sometimes you can also find them in bottle green, maybe in red or an off white, but that's basically the color scheme. Colorful blazers sometimes come with a contrast trim in yellow or red or white and it's a very bold look, that's why you rarely see it. Blazers often come double breasted, as you can see here. This is a 6x2, 6 buttons and 2 closing buttons. You can also find 6x3 which mean 6 buttons, 3 closing buttons or 8x3 which mean 8 buttons with 3 closing buttons. Alternatively, you can also have a single breasted blazer and that's the one I'm wearing here, right now. Usually, single-breasted blazers come in 2 or 3 closing buttons, rarely in 4 or 1. Another distinctive hallmark of a blazer are the buttons. The most popular options for blazer buttons are brass, which has that gold tone or pure which is kind of a dark silver and you also see people who use pure, yellow gold or white gold but that makes your blazer very, very expensive. For a more casual look, you can also use contrasting, horn buttons. My personal, casual favorite is white, mother of pearl because it creates a strong contrast, designated as a blazer but it's still classic. So, always make sure your blazer has contrasting buttons. Another aspect that you have to pay attention to is the pockets. If you want your blazer to be more casual, I suggest you opt for patch pockets. On the other hand, this blazer has traditional pockets with the flap and it just depends on what look you're going for. Another very important aspect of a blazer is the fabric. The most popular blazer fabric is serge. Another great alternative is hopsack which has kind of a two-dimensional, three-dimensional look because it sometimes has different colors, it's very popular in Italy. If you live in colder climates, maybe think about going with a navy flannel blazer, it has a very sophisticated look, and it keeps you warm. If you live in warmer climates, think about maybe a linen blazer or a fresco blazer.Striped blazers often come in cotton, sometimes in velvet or combination of wool and cotton. In terms of vents, I suggest you go with side vents because center vents are just for horseback riding. For sleeve buttons,I suggest you go with three or traditional four, if you want it more casual, you can also go with two. Generally, a blazer should fit like a suit jacket or a sport coat. What does it mean? It means the shoulder seam should be on your shoulder bone. The collar should sit tight against your neck. You want to have some room in your shoulders, ideally, you want a smaller armhole for a greater range of movement and in terms of length, always cover your rear end. If you want a more formal blazer, you should get a more structured interlining. Traditionally, blazers often had shoulder pads but at the moment, a lot of people prefer them without shoulder pads and small armholes for a very natural shoulder line. Last but not the least, how should you wear and combine a blazer? As I indicated before, you want to match contrasting trousers. The good thing about that is, you can use basically any trouser you have in your closet. The only thing to avoid with a blazer is black pants and black altogether because black and navy never work well. ======================================= To never miss any of our videos again, sign up here for free: https://gentl.mn/1TuTKgG Want to see more videos? $100 vs $500 Men's Dress Shoes - Hallmarks, Quality, Differences & Cost Per Wear Cheap vs Expensive

10:40
Learn all about the difference between $100, $200-400 and $500 Men's Dress Shoes For a more comprehensive guide, click here: https://gentl.mn/100-vs-500-usd-dress-shoes-men Two-Tone Knit Tie in Red and Navy Blue Changeant Silk: https://gentl.mn/2kZ4GZD Edelweiss Boutonniere: https://gentl.mn/2kdcEil #shoes #mensshoes #notsponsored We will discuss how you can tell the difference between quality and cheap shoes so you get only the best value for your money. QUALITY HALLMARKS OF SHOES: $100 shoes 1. Faux Stitching. It's simply glued and it's there merely decorative to make it look like a more expensive shoe but it's all glue. 2. Welt at the bottom. That is probably just a blake stitch or a blake rapid stitch. A composite material that is meant to look like leather. 3. Execution. More often than not, the stitching that you see at the top of the shoe is just injection molded so it's not a real stitch and it's simply meant to be deceitful. 4. Inferior Leather. Stiffer leather that is sanded and pigmented with dye to hide all the flaws. It creases very easily when you walk in it and will age very poorly. 5. Unrefined lasts. They can be a little chunky, have kind of a boxy toe, and overall wide so they fit every kind of foot. 6. Low quality interior. Manufacturers put all kinds of foam inside to make it feel nice and soft to the foot. The foam wears out quite quickly. 7. No color variations. You get black, brown, or tan, and that's about it! $200-$400 shoes 1. Blake construction and the blake rapid. These are also sewn but less expensive than goodyear welted. The advantage of blake construction is that you get a thinner sole that is softer. The disadvantage is that when you're outside, and it's wet, and it rains a lot, your feet may get wet. Also, the lack of cork in a blake construction shoe makes it less comfortable when you stand a lot or walk a lot. $500 shoes 1. High quality leather. Dyed all the way through. It has open pores that develop a patina over time. 2. Hand burnished finish from the factory that gets darker towards the toe. 3. Construction. In terms of construction, $500 shoes are almost exclusively goodyear welted that means, you have a welt here on the outside, and another welt that connects it in combination with the cork and sole which makes it much more comfortable to wear. 4. Heel caps and toe caps. Must be made of thermoplastic leather unlike cheaper shoes which are made of plastic. 5. Refined lasts. You also get a much better finishing in the details. 6. Variety of colors. Even if you have the nicest suits, a beautiful tie, a good shirt, and nice cuff links, cheap shoes will overall bring your outfit down. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Fountain Pen Mistakes All Beginners Make & How To Avoid Them - Gentleman's Gazette

10:05
Fountain pen dos & don'ts, here: https://gentl.mn/fountain-pen-etiquette #fountainpen #fountainpenmistakes #notsponsored Is It Worth It? Montblanc Meisterstück 149 146 144 Fountain Pens:https://gentl.mn/2J53YqJ What fountain pen should you first invest in? This might help! https://gentl.mn/2Ld748C #fountainpens #notsponsored #gentlemansgazette 7 Beginner Fountain Pen Mistakes 1. Not using a fountain pen at all. Even if you own it, you may just have it in your desk drawer and it never sees the light of day. In my opinion, a huge advantage of a fountain pen is your signature. Not only does it make it look more sophisticated but it's actually much harder to fake because the lines vary in thickness depending on the pressure you put on to the nib. Of course, it's easy to forget about handwriting in a digital world, you can take notes with your phone, you can use Google home assistant or Alexa but at the same time, it has been proven that writing down things by hand especially if you take notes, enhances your memory and you learn faster. 2. Using the wrong paper. Most regular paper is rather thin and sometimes flimsy and when you use a fountain pen, you encounter something called bleeding. Basically, it's just ink bleeding into the paper leaving a very undefined line that doesn't look as nice as if you write with the same fountain pen on a thicker paper that absorbs the ink better. So instead, go with a slightly thicker cardstock or go with fountain pen paper which hardly costs more at all but it's specifically made for fountain pen ink. 3. Pushing too hard on the nib. If you have a regular ballpoint pen or a rollerball, you can really push hard even push holes into your paper. Now with a fountain pen, you can also add pressure and the more pressure you add, the wider your pen stroke gets. That can be really nice for a signature or you want to get a calligraphy effect when you write. Now with nibs, you have to pay a little more attention because they're split in the middle so the ink can get to the paper and if you push too hard, you may damage or break the nib and then you'll have to exchange it. 4. Using the wrong ink. If you have a fountain pen, you should always go with a specific fountain pen ink. Why? Basically, they have a different chemical composition that is best for fountain pens because if you get something that is too thick and it dries too quickly, it will clog up your fountain pen and you'll have to constantly clean it. 5. Not cleaning your pen when it has dried on the inside. Generally, if you keep writing a pen and you use high-quality fountain pen ink, chances are you hardly ever maybe never have to clean your fountain pen, over time, however, there may be dust or something gets clogged up and then it's time to clean your pen. So how do you do it? Basically, there are two ways. One, the simple way is to simply drop your entire pen in water. The second and best way to clean a fountain pen is to use an ultrasonic cleanser. 6. Dropping a fountain pen on the nib. I know you don't drop your pens intentionally but unlike with a ballpoint pen if it falls right on the tip of the nib it may break or it may deform and then it's time to have the nib replaced. 7. Not keeping the nib up when you travel. Especially if you're on a plane, the cabin pressure changes over time and if your nib faces down or if it's horizontal, chances are ink is pushed outside of the pen and either you get a stain on your jacket or the next time you open your pen, all your fingers are going to be full of ink. So overall, you have to pay a little more attention to a fountain pen and you have to be a little more deliberate than with a ballpoint pen or a rollerball. On the other hand, a fountain pen enhances your handwriting and the look of it in a way no rollerball a ballpoint can compete with. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? OCBD Oxford Cloth Button Down Shirt Guide

10:51
Click here for our in-depth OCBD shirt guide: https://gentl.mn/oxford-cloth-button-down-shirt-ocbd To get the accessories in this video: Wool Challis Pocket Square in Navy with White Polka Dots: https://gentl.mn/2l3frcV Ivory Silk-Wool Pocket Square with Hunting Motifs: https://gentl.mn/2lz2lRL Madder Silk Tie in Blue with Buff and Red Paisley: https://gentl.mn/2kfj0IX Oxford shirts are great because they pair well with a summer wardrobe as well as a winter wardrobe. They can be casual, they can be worn with a tie, with a blazer, with a tweed coat, or just on their own without any neckwear. They're also really hard wearing. First of all, it has a soft button down collar which means there's no interlining, it's just the fabric. The collar forms this beautiful S-curve around your tie knot and that's typical for this collar. So, what exactly is oxford cloth? Basically, it's a basket weave meaning, you have multiple strands together that are woven like a canvas, like a plain weave. It is simply one warp and one weft thread and it creates a fine, tightly knitted weave. What other hallmarks does an OCBD have? First, you want a shirt placket that is separate. Second, you want a chest pocket. A chest pocket is part of the casual heritage of the OCBD and you definitely don't want to skip it. Another feature you want to look for are barrel cuffs. Other than that, a traditional American oxford cloth button down shirt is cut very wide, lots of room for movement. Now, while that's true on your body, you want to avoid having armhole that are too big. Traditional oxford cloth button down shirts are cut very long in the front and in the back. In the back, you usually have a box pleat which gives you extra space and range of movement. To understand the background of the OCBD, we have to look at the button down collar. It was originally invented in India and it was meant for polo players to keep their collar down during the exercise. Otherwise, it would flap up in the wind and in player's faces so sometimes, they couldn't see. It was a very practical and functional feature. From India, it made its way to England where it was seen by a member of the Brooks Brothers family and so in 1896, they brought this collar to the US. It was Brooks Brothers who had the idea to combine this style of collar with an oxford fabric. Outside of the US, one of the biggest proponents of the oxford cloth button down of Brooks Brothers was Gianni Agnelli. People wanted to emulate his style as an Italian industrialist so it became an iconic garment, even outside the US. Obviously, the shirt is very versatile.it could be worn casually on its own, could be paired with suits, and sport coats. So for men, who often like simplicity, it was this one garment they could wear with anything. So what are the OCBD dos and don'ts? First of all, do not wear it with formal wear. If you work in an environment where business casual is a dress code, the oxford shirt is the perfect companion. In a traditional white collar environment, the oxford cloth button down shirt even in plain white is a bit too casual, too soft, and I would go with poplin. When it gets warm sometimes, people wear OCBDs with short sleeves however, that's not the proper look. Do wear oxford cloth button down shirts on the weekend, it underlines the casual character, it's a perfect weekend shirt. Do not wear oxford cloth button down shirts to interviews. So what should you look for in the OCBD? As I mentioned, soft-roll collar, oxford fabric that is not too wide with the strands. Also, try to get a 100% cotton because it just feels better in your skin. There are lots of polyblends out there because they last longer but if you can afford it, go with a 100% cotton. Again, skip the cufflinks on the shirt, go with long sleeves, and no short sleeves. Regarding tie knots, you do not have a huge tie gap which calls for a small knot such as the oriental knot. Italian ones such as Omas, maybe Parker, or you name it, however, the Montblanc Meisterstuck pen has been around for a very long time. 09:44 Goodyear Welted Shoes Which style you want heavily depends on what kind of lifestyle you live. A good year welted pair of shoes is usually made from a higher-quality leather than a glued pair of shoes. 11:11 Quality Belt I know belts are probably not something you might deem expensive because you can find them for $10 but you can also find some for $3,000. 13:22 Professional Camera I know most people today use cell phones and they think they are pro cameras but they're actually not. 14:39 Wallet A wallet is something you wear every day, you pull it out when you maybe pay for a business meal, and overall, it develops a nice patina if it's made of quality letter. 15:16 Smartphone Personally, I'd love to buy a modular phone so I could do exactly what I want without creating too much waste because as you know, with the technological advances in the smartphone market, we've new things coming out every month almost and because of that, we have a lot of old phones that are just discarded which is a huge waste and a big ecological problem. How Many Suits Does A Man Really Need? & What Suit Style & Color To Buy - Gentleman's Gazette

Madder Silk Tie in Dark Blue, Light Blue and Red - 5. Pocket Square in White Irish Linen - https://gentl.mn/2Gn1l1K The answer is between 1 and 100, there is no simple number. It all depends on your environment, your budget, and other considerations that you have to make. So that's not very helpful and because of that, we put together four different profiles of different men with different needs and requirements, and we walk you through exactly what kind of suit you need, what style, what color, what fabric, so you always look the part and you have exactly the right suit for the right occasion. For the man who normally never wears a suit. You're a student, maybe an IT professional, or just in a job where a suit is not required of you, ever. Maybe you work in every casual office, or you work from home, but a suit is just never something that has come up. In that case, I suggest you invest in one dark suit. I suggest you go with a single-breasted suit in a medium to lightweight that you can wear year-round. Now let's talk about the second type of man. You are someone who rarely wears a suit, you maybe work at a very casual office but every once in a while, when you have client contact or a business event, you'll need to get out some suits. In that case, it pays to have at least three suits otherwise, it would look like you only have one suit and you wear the same outfit over and over again which is never advantageous. So the three suits you should invest in are one, a dark navy suit and two, a dark charcoal suit. I suggest you get one of them in double-breasted because it's more formal and another one single-breasted with notch lapels because it's less formal. Ideally, you want maybe the navy suit to be double breasted because you can wear it as a blazer separately. With those two suits, you're covered for summer and spring weather, as well as for fall and for a winter, they work very well, they're unpretentious, they're very professional, and you'll always be well respected and look at the part. For the gray flannel, you want something a little heavier about of 350 to 400 grams. For the worsted navy suit, you go something with a little lighter about 270 to 300 grams just like in the other suit before. The third suit to invest in for you is something that's a little more casual. It's not as formal and dark and brown tones are ideal for that. It could be a Glen check with an over plaid, it could be a small houndstooth or just something that's a little lighter in color that has a pattern. The third type is men who wear a suit to work every day. Because of that, you need a larger rotation of suits because you can always get them stained and if you let your suits rest, they will actually last you longer. For most men in this category, it's enough to own 10 business suits because that's a two-week rotation. With ten suits, different shirts, ties, and shoes, you can create many outfits and it will never look like you're just repeating the same one over and over again. If you're starting out, you may not be able to afford 10 quality suits right from the bat and because of that, it pays to slowly build up that rotation, starting with the most versatile solid ones that we mentioned earlier. The fourth type of men is the suit lover. At this point, we can't talk about need anymore and the sky is the limit. It's all about how many suits you want and the limiting factor is likely the amount of closet space you have. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? 5 Best Inexpensive Fountain Pens For Beginners

10:52
Check out our guide for a more in-depth look at these fountain pens: https://gentl.mn/2kFBMMn #fountainpens #notsponsored #gentlemansgazette Get your hands on one of our recommended best budget fountain pens: *Pilot Metropolitan: https://gentl.mn/2xAqsu2 It was introduced in 2012 and it was universally praised as a really good fountain pen especially at the price point. It comes in a nice gift box, has a nice weight, very clean lines, and you can even choose between different nib widths which is not something you often find in this price range. *Pilot Varsity: https://gentl.mn/2HcmgjC Usually, it's sold in a five pack for ten dollars and it has a nib, it looks pretty cheap like a typical rollerball and it is all plastic. It's considered a disposable fountain pen that you can't refill once the ink is all gone. *Chinese Jinhao X 450: https://gentl.mn/2kGKr11 These pens cost approximately $5 each and most people are shocked by how low the prices are and how valuable it seems in comparison. If you want a huge bang for the buck, Jinhao is definitely worth a look. *Chinese Jinhao X 750: https://gentl.mn/2Ja9vIh On the other hand, the X 750 has kind of a brushed stainless steel look in platinum color the nib is likewise in the same color. It has a nice lid that clicks on and seems quite tight even though over time, I don't quite think it will stand the test of time. *Lamy Safari: https://gentl.mn/2LbQuWz The standard version of the Safari is made out of plastic. You can also find different versions of metals such as aluminum but in my experience, they dent very easily and scratch so they don't look very well. Going with the original plastic version is just fine. The styling is definitely the most industrial one but it's very comfortable in your hand and it's very easy to grip for small hands as well as medium hands. *Is It Worth It? – Mont Blanc Pens: https://gentl.mn/2H9KbAu *Fountain pen mistakes to avoid: https://gentl.mn/2J6fjCD --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? 5 Dress Shoes Every Man Must Have - What Leather Men's Shoes To Buy - Which Ones To Purchase First

10:52
This video was brought to you in collaboration with AceMarks. You can find all the leather shoes shown in the video on their website: https://gentl.mn/five-dress-shoes-you-need #shoes #dressshoes #gentlemansgazette CODE: gentleman Make sure to use the code gentleman to get an even better deal! Interested in the shoes I'm wearing? Check out: https://www.acemarks.com/ First, by the way, all of the shoes you can see here are from Ace marks, a supplier of handcrafted Italian men's dress shoes and I liked them because they are hand burnished and they provide a really good value under $300. I've had their shoes in my closet from the beginning and I liked them quite a bit because they fit me extremely well. One, the black oxford. Why should you invest in this shoe? It's an all-time classic, especially as a captoe. You can wear it for business, you can wear it to the funeral, and you can wear it for any kind of formal event out there. Also, unlike brown, black comes just in one shade and so you don't have to invest in dozens of black shoes but one is really a staple that you must have. So how do you wear a black oxford? You can wear it with two-piece suits, three-piece suits, particularly in navy, charcoal, and grey, and any kind of other business appropriate suit. It's also good with blazers, maybe a navy blazer with gray flannel slacks or you can wear it with your tuxedo for Black Tie events, your dinner jacket, alternatively, also for white tie or for formal morning dress. The second shoe style I'd invest in if I started all over again is the Brown Derby full brogue wingtip. So why would I go with this shoe? Well, first of all, a Derby is less formal than an Oxford. The Derby has an open lacing system and because of that, it's more flexible so when your feet are tired and they swell and get bigger, it's a more comfortable shoe than an Oxford. Because of that, I like it for traveling. I would choose a medium brown color such as this antique brown cognac from Ace Marks; it's very versatile and because they are hand polished and hand burnished, you see different shades of brown at the tip of the shoe than for example at the bottom. The third shoe style I'd invest in is a loafer. Why a loafer?Well basically, it's a slip-on shoe, it's casual, it's an entirely different style from the other two, yet it's a timeless classic. It's really easy to dress up or down and they come in different variations; you can have tassel loafers and sometimes people think they're old-fashioned yet you can actually have them quite young looking and modern but if you don't like that, go with a penny loafer because they're really classic and they're called that way because you used to be able to put a little penny in the front opening. For versatility, I'd go with a different shade in brown than you chose for your Derby wingtip. The fourth shoe style I'd invest in is a double monk strap in a reddish color because it's very versatile, it's stylish, and it's young, and it's just different than all the other shoes that you already have in your wardrobe at this point. This model from Ace Marks comes in a brandy antique Brown which means it was hand polished and hand burnished to achieve different color tones. The fifth shoe style I would invest in is a half brogue Oxford in a medium brown. Here I have an Ace Mark shoe in a lighter antique tan which is once again different than all the other brown tones in my wardrobe. It has a captoe with nice broguing, a medallion, and it's less casual than the full wingtip Derby shoe. I'm adding it to the collection because it's kind of an in-between the more formal Oxford and the more casual Derby. It fits right in between because it doesn't have a wingtip but it has broguing, yet at the same time, it's an Oxford and not a Derby. So if you invest in these five shoe styles, you truly have an extremely versatile dress shoe closet and you can hold off on investments and maybe invest in other parts of your wardrobe. #dressshoes #mensshoes #acemarks --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Tweed Guide - How To Wear Harris Tweeds, Donegal, Cheviot, Saxony...

13:26
More about #tweed: https://gentl.mn/the-story-of-tweed Tweed began as a handwoven fabric which was made on looms. The cloth was rough and thick and coarse. And the colors were earthy, because they were inspired by nature. So how did tweed get its name? Some people claim, it comes from the river tweed, which is in Scotland. Supposedly the cloth was first woven in the Tweed Valley. Other people claim, tweed is a twist of the Scottish word tweel. Now, tweed is usually quite heavy and warm. But believe it or not, it used to be the high-performance fabric of its time. The English gentry was quick to adopt tweed as the preferred fabric for golfing, hunting or fishing under country estates. Today, It is rarely used for sport activities anymore because it is quite insulating and even though wool is quite absorbent when it comes to sweat it is simply to warm for most people. Cheviot Tweed. Cheviot is a breed of white faced sheep that were first kept in a cheviot hills in Northumberland near the Scottish border. Generally, it is a larger and rougher type of tweed. It is quite coarse to the touch, such as this one. Shetland Tweed. The opposite of cheviot in the sense that it is much softer, it is finer and usually have a looser weave Geographically named TWEEDS: First off all, the Donegal Tweed. The name of Donegal is derived from the Irish county of Donegal and the characteristic is a tweed with knobs as you can see here. Rather than having a plain fabric, you see like orange or red, gray speckle, sometimes you have pink or green or something very outlandish but overall it creates a very soft look. Saxony tweed. In the middle ages, it was forbidden for the Christian areas of Spain to export sheep.Generally, it is made from a Merino wool today and it is another wonderful sport coat or a jacket fabric. Certainly, the most well-known tweed today is Harris tweed. It is another geographically named tweed which comes from the Isle of Harris. It was first introduced to the English aristocracy in the 1840s by lady Dunmore, It quickly became popular in English Society. Gamekeeper tweed is the heavier fabric usually starting at 700g, about 24 oz. It is made for cold weathers, so it is quite insulating and hard wearing. It really got its name from the people who use it outside all day in cold harsh conditions. Sporting tweeds or Hunting tweeds were developed specifically for hunting and the idea was that one hand, that the colors are chosen so you blend in with the environment. On the other hand, a hunting tweed jacket has a shoulder patch just like this one, so you could easily hold your rifle and it wouldn’t wear out your shoulder fabric so quickly. Thornproof tweed which is made of two-ply wool yarns which are supposed to be woven tightly and as a consequence if you go through a thorn it may poke through, but is then self-repairing. Supasax is a Saxony tweed used to be made by Bladen. It had been discontinued for a while. I think it is back now, though I really prefer the old stuff because it has a special color depth and wonderful patterns. TWEED PATTERNS Plain twill weave tweed. It has these ridges that are quite wide they can be a little finer, but this is typical for a plain twill weave. Overcheck twill. It’s still a twill weave but not as pronounced as the one you can see here, but it has this overcheck. Herringbone. Herringbone is named that way because it’s supposed to resemble fish bones. Basically, a herringbone is a twill weave, so it’s the same twill weave you can see here but the rows are adjusted to go up and down right next to each other giving you this herringbone pattern. Barleycorn. it’s called that way because upon closer inspection it resembles a kernel of barley. How do you actually wear a tweed? It's particularly well suited for fall, winter outfits, because otherwise, you simply overheat. When not to wear tweed? If you are in a traditional white collar environment, tweed is not the fabric to wear. Stay away from formal events, especially evening events. Shantung Striped Green, Purple, and Cream Silk Tie https://gentl.mn/2yW3vAA 3. Navy Blue Gray Suede Unlined Leather Mens Gloves https://gentl.mn/2gOF8hE 4. Caramel and Dark Burgundy Shadow Stripe Socks - https://gentl.mn/2yRbYp1 So what are the 11 must-have items for an elegant classic gentleman? 1. Unlined gloves. The advantage of unlined gloves is that it is very thin and looks very elegant. Also, during the transitioning season, you don't need a cashmere lining or alpaca lining because it would simply be too warm. 2. Knit Ties. I like them because they have this really nice texture and today, you can find lots of knit ties on the market. Traditionally, the ones with the thickest texture are the cris de la soie ties and they have the crunch in them, you can hear the crunch when you move it back and forth slightly. 3. Suede boots. Now, boots are in general ideal for fall because they are lined with leather most of the time and they are not super warm and at the same time, they keep you warmer than a regular pair of oxfords or derby shoes. 4. Vest or waistcoat. The term is used interchangeably and it just adds another layer to your outfit. 5. Tweed jacket or sport coat. The beauty about tweed is that it's comprised of lots of different colors and because of that, it may look like a solid from afar, but in fact, there are lots of different colors combined. 6. Quilted jacket. it is so great because it keeps you warm, at the same time it is lightweight and if you choose a length that covers your jacket, you could easily wear it on top without looking too formal. 7. Flat cap. It is a wonderful hat. It keeps you warm, it is stylish, it can be worn by younger men, even teenagers, as well as older men, and it just has this typical seasonal appropriate character. 8. Wool accessories. I know most of the time, ties are made out of silk and that is just fine; at the same time, maybe a pocket square in wool, or a tie, or a flat cap, simply helps you to create a softer look in your outfit that is very appropriate for fall or autumn. 9. Corduroy pants. I know some people may think they make you look like an old professor in College or a school teacher, however, I think corduroy is wonderful for the fall season because first of all, it is very warm and just seasonally appropriate. 10. Pastel colored dress shirt. I know most men have white dress shirts but with a tweed coat, it is just too stark of a contrast. Instead, if you go maybe with an eggshell color, something with a pale orange, maybe a pale pink, or pale blue, it really helps to tie the outfit together. 11. Lightweight knitted sweaters, ideally in cotton. Usually, you don't need the heavy woolen cashmere sweaters until later in the season and so you want a finer knit just to help keep you warm, at the same time, you want to look stylish. #fallmusthaves #fallessentials #notsponsored --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Dark Brown Shoelaces Round - https://gentl.mn/2qMydZl 24. Light Brown Shoelaces Round - https://gentl.mn/2pulDKr Why is black popular and why people wear it? Black is a very practical color. It's very resistant to stains in a sense that often times, you can't see the stain when you stain it. People also claim, black makes you look slimmer although there doesn't seem to be any scientific purpose for that. Black is widely available and unlike other colors, it's a very simple shade that is very consistent. For that reason, people sometimes think they can combine different items in black. When to wear black? It's a fantastic color for evening wear. It is also great for formal daywear such as a morning coat. Black is also great for priests and for funerals. You can show up in a funeral in a very dark suit such as a charcoal suit or a navy suit. Why is black bad if many people wear it? It ages extremely poorly. Black is also not so easily combined with other shades of gray and especially not with navy. Black DON’Ts 1. Do Not Wear Black Dress Shirts 2. Do Not Have Black Suits or Jackets 3. Do Not Wear Black T-Shirts Black Dress Shoes and Accessories They're the most popular items around because they're easy to produce and there is such a huge demand. If you go back in history, an elegant man would never wear black dress gloves because it would show that they lack style and taste. For shoes, black is a great option if you work in a white collar office environment and it's formal. Otherwise, stick to brown because there are lots more shades. What about black sneakers? Black is always more formal. Sneakers by definition are informal. So having a black sneaker is kind of a clash of formality levels. First 10 Mens Dress Shirts You Should Buy

Check out these must-have dress shirts: https://bit.ly/classy-dress-shirts-for-men #dresshirts #dressshirtsformen #notsponsored Guides you shouldn't miss: - 13 Most Over and Underrated Dress Shirts for Men - https://bit.ly/2K7GKwB - All about OCBD: https://bit.ly/2ytPVWz - Iron dress shirts like a Pro! - https://bit.ly/2JTTJFU SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Madder Silk Tie in Bottle Green Macclesfield Neats - https://bit.ly/2JUMPAp 2. Silk Pocket Square in Brown - https://bit.ly/2yphbFE 3. Mid Brown and Green Shadow Stripe Ribbed Socks - https://bit.ly/2twsTZF While dress shirts form the foundation of a classic man’s wardrobe, they're often overlooked in favor of suits, shoes, or accessories, however, if you get your first dress shirts wrong, it's much harder to combine them with other things and you may not get the wear out of them you desire. So with these 10 dress shirts, you'll basically be equipped for all classic men's style outfits yet you really cover just the basics so you don't spend more money than you ultimately have to. Basically, there are always three main considerations; one is the color shirt, then the type of fabric, as well as the shirt details. 1. Plain white solid dress shirt in a plain weave. I suggest to go with a medium spread collar as well as barrel cuffs because it allows you to wear it in more formal and less formal settings but it's something you can pair with jeans or denim, as well as with a very formal business suit. 2. Fancy weave white dress shirt with double cuffs or French cuffs. I'm wearing one like that right now. It has a subtle waffle pattern weave which makes it slightly different than a plain weave in the sense that if you look at it very closely and the light shines in a certain direction, you can see it has a pattern, however, from a few feet away or a few meters away, you think it's a solid shirt with a nice depth of color. 3. Light blue dress shirt. It should be made of a medium fabric, ideally, plain weave. Again, barrel cuffs, no pocket and French placket. 4. Light blue shirt but now, make sure that the color shade is slightly different than the one you had previously. You can go darker, you can go lighter, just make sure it's different. Also, for the fabric itself, I suggest you get maybe something in a twill weave because it's a new small weave pattern that you don't already have and it's a very classic thing, it is hard wearing and it's particularly good in a slightly heavier fabric maybe for winter because you want to have a variety of shirts in your wardrobe. 5. Ivory color It should be distinctly different from white if you hold them next to each other, however, it's so close to white on its own that most people would never realize you're not wearing a plain white dress shirt, however, plain white works really best with dark colors. It could be a dark green, dark blue, dark charcoal, or black, however, when you pair it with warmer colors such as brown, all of a sudden, the white just looks wrong. 6. Striped shirt with a white background in a blue stripe. The size of the blue stripe is up to you. I'd stay away from extremely fine ones or extreme bold ones, go with something in the middle down the line because that will work well with all kinds of solid suits. 7. Striped shirt but this time, I'd suggest you go with a light blue background and a white stripe. Ideally, the stripe should be different from what you already had so I'd suggest go more with a finer stripe rather than with a bolder stripe because you want it to be super versatile. 8. Checked shirt and can either be a light blue check on a white background or you can maybe go with a red and blue check on a white background. It just adds an additional color to your shirt wardrobe and red and blue are staples in a classic man's wardrobe so you'll always be able to wear it, it never looks out of place, it'll look good with a blazer. 9. Oxford cloth button-down shirt It's an American staple, it's a very hard-wearing cloth. I'll get it in a light blue color because the Oxford fabric has strands of different colors in white and blue so it gives a nice color effect. 10. Soft washed denim dress shirt 10-15 years ago, it wasn't really something that men would actually wear. In recent years, it has become so popular that men stock loads of them. In general, a soft washed denim dress shirt really tones down any kind of formal garment you have. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? 7 Men's Summer Shoe Mistakes & What Shoes To Wear

10:14
Read our in-depth guide, here: https://gentl.mn/summer-shoe-mistakes SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Madder Silk Tie in Bottle Green Macclesfield Neats - https://gentl.mn/2mzwq6g 2. Purple Shoelaces - https://gentl.mn/2zUaLPN 3. Socks with Clocks - https://gentl.mn/2L9gvu5 #shoemistakes #summershoes #notsponsored People can wear absolutely anything today and trust me, they do. But as a gentleman, there are certain classic style rules that help make you look well put together even during the peak heat of summer. Mistake number one, wearing sandals or flip-flops for anything other than very specific outdoor occasions. Sorry, gentlemen, but if you're serious about your outward appearance, wearing sandals or flip-flops on a regular basis is simply not in the cards unless you're rafting or walking in a rocky riverbed. The second mistake is wearing sporty trainers with your trousers and elegant summer outfits. It simply doesn't go together. Trainers are fine if you ride your bike or go to and from the gym or workout in them but outside of that, there's really no place for them in your general wardrobe. The third mistake is not understanding the difference between driving mocs, loafers, and boat shoes. All three of those are great summer shoes because they are slip-ons so it's not just convenient but usually they also have deeper cutouts which expose your ankle more to the air which gives a nice flow that is cooler than wearing other regular lace-up shoes. The fifth mistake is buying sneakers and using them to masquerade other shoes. By that, I mean people try to buy leather sneakers that are more expensive and nicer and so all of a sudden they think they can wear it for business casual or with a suit and it just looks odd and it's not meant to be worn that way. The sixth mistake is to pack away all of your other shoes from your closet and simply use the specific summer shoes. Now yes you want specific summer shoes at the same time you can still get out your old brown loafers for example that you can wear in spring and maybe in the fall. Last but not the least, one of the biggest summer shoe mistakes is not owning a fun pair of distinct summer shoes. There are really lots of ways to have fun even with a classic men's shoe wardrobe and that can include a white pair of buckskin shoes with colorful shoelaces for example and in general if you want to spice things up and you can't quite afford to invest a lot in summer shoes just going with colorful shoelaces. --------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ Want to stay updated? To grab your FREE PDF guide on How To Buy A Watch - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ipF6TEA5ZpZUVRQmZLaERhVEU/view?usp=sharing I learned a valuable lesson about buying watches from a shady shop in Hong Kong. It was a lesson that cost me $500. While on a business trip to China, I got pulled into a back room and was offered five luxury watches for a steal. They were counterfeit luxury watches. They looked really nice and I was tempted by the brand names on the watches - Breitling, Louis Vuitton, Rolex. And against my better judgement I violated all the sensible watch-buying rules ever written and paid $100 for each watch. I have never worn those watches. I wasted $500 that day - please learn from my mistakes in this article so you can make a smart buying decision when purchasing a watch. You see, a quality watch isn't just a tool that shows time. A man's watch is a sign of taste, where you are in life, and it's something that shouldn't be "faked". And let me be clear - any man can buy a great watch at a very affordable price. But like anything stylish - what watch you wear is a reflection of your personal taste and the image you wish to project. Own it - and feel great about it when you wear it. As layering is very important in your age group, I suggest you go with sweaters because they keep you warm in the winter, they add a little book to your build which easily comes off as muscles, and they keep you warm If you are up for a cardigan, you can even take it off if it's too hot and that makes it very flexible, casual but well-dressed. MID 20S If you’re in a sales position or if you're in a white-collar profession, you will definitely need a lot more suits than one. If you're not, I suggest to invest more in combinations. Maybe of a blazer would be a great first garment to start and overall, I suggest you check out our guide on the 10 clothing items that every man should have because that's the foundation of your wardrobe that will last you a lifetime and you'll get a lot of wear out of it because it's very versatile and flexible. The mid-20s or mid or late thirties A great wardrobe staple is probably Oxford shirt, especially with a button-down collar. It's something that you can still wear either casually or combined with a jacket or suit. Polo shirts are nice if you maybe want to play golf or hang out with your children on the weekend but they're not something you should wear to the office, not even on casual Fridays. The mid-40s to about 65 Instead of using bolder colors to differentiate your outfit, I suggest to go with different textures and especially subtle patterns. You can go with window panes instead of solids, herringbones not just finer but bigger, maybe a classic Prince of Wales check that is larger in black and white that goes well with your gray hair. These are all things that can really help you develop an outfit that is very age appropriate yet very stylish. 65 and up If you're 65 and up, you're likely retired or you're looking forward to retirement. You either spend your days on a golf course or hang out with friends playing cards, working at the woodshop, and at that stage of your life, the degree of formality goes down. Now is the time to add sweaters back into your wardrobe, maybe skip the blazer unless you really like to dress up, however, one thing I notice a lot is that men change their physique yet the Wardrobe remains the same and it sometimes makes them look quite dated. Watches of US Presidents (Rolex, Cartier, Seiko, & More)

As a lover of history and watches, I always try to combine these two elements in my videos. That said, I thought of a cool idea that I wanted to jump into and that is the watches of US presidents. For this video, I only want to feature presidents from recent history, the last 100 years, and we are going to only look at wrist watches since pocket watches is a whole different ball game. The Eyeglasses Guide for Men, Part I: History & Style Overview

Dark Bronze Madder Silk Pocket Square with Diamond Motif and Paisley - https://gentl.mn/2Mwu2wl #eyeglasses #notsponsored #gentlemansgazette Basic anatomy of what makes glasses eyeglasses. As you might well imagine, they're constructed of several different parts that work together. Most pairs typically consist of a pair of rims which secure the lenses. A bridge which connects the rims, and temples which extend over the ears. Depending on the style of glasses, other details may also exist including nose pads, temple tips, or a brow bar across the top. But we'll get into those details later. First, let's talk about the various construction materials that can be used to make eyeglasses starting with plastic. Cellulose acetate is a plastic polymer that's made from wood pulp and then molded into sheets. Individual frames are then cut from these sheets and hand polished. This is a little bit more labor-intensive than using simple extruded plastic so that's where a little bit of the extra cost comes from. As a plus, acetate is stiffer, heavier, and more durable than standard plastic so that's why it's a good choice for eyeglasses. Multicolored patterns such as tortoiseshell are far more beautiful than acetate since the pattern was created over an entire sheet. If it were extruded plastic, that pattern would have to be painted on which generally doesn't look as nice. Next up, metal. Often you'll see glasses constructed from titanium, aluminum, or various alloys. They're typically corrosion resistant which is a good thing if they're going to be sitting on faces that might sweat. Metal is particularly well suited to thinner frames especially in round or rectangular shapes. Lastly here, let's talk about natural frames. Though they're a bit harder to find and generally more expensive, you are still able to find natural frames and such materials as wood, bone, or shell. Horn is another option often from a buffalo or a deer they're usually hand-carved and then polished and because of their striations and matte finish, they end up being a really elegant choice. Tortoiseshell is largely illegal these days. Any shell that was harvested after 1973 is not allowed to be sold but if you're particularly determined, you could probably find a pair at a vintage retailer. Next, let's talk about some recommended styles of eyeglasses. First, let's talk about brow line glasses which are defined by a top-heavy strong frame along the brow line and across the temples. The frame is completed along the bottom by thin metal wires which have the general effect of drawing the eye upwards towards the more defined part at the top. Round metal frames have typically been the choice for the counterculture, youth culture, and other sorts of resistance movements, and in the last few years, we've started to see them re-enter the mainstream again. Favored by people including Steve Jobs, Gandhi, and John Lennon, they're a choice for somebody who feels that they are just a little bit outside of the mainstream. Unlike round metal frames, round plastic frames with a keyhole bridge are the epitome of stylish mainstream menswear. These frames can add maturity to youthful faces but unlike browline glasses, they also work perfectly well on seasoned gentlemen too. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? How To Combine Men's Socks, Shoes & Pants - Compliments Guaranteed

09:02
To learn more about how to combine shoes, socks and pants, please visit our guide here: https://gentl.mn/2g9PtCE To get our advanced 94-page shoe sock combination guide, click here: http://gentl.mn/learn-how-to-combine-shoes-with-socks Get your OTC socks, here: https://gentl.mn/2kdbTpv Sock rule #1: Never wear white tennis socks unless you're at the gym or involved in any other kind of physical activity. Sock rule #2: get a quality pair of over the calf socks because they will stay up and not slide down and not expose your hairy calves. Sock rule #3: Match your socks to the pants you wear, not to the shoes. Now that we got the basics of the shoe, sock, and pant combinations covered, let's talk about advanced ways to come up with different styles. 1. Most men have them and the best kind of sock to wear with them, in my opinion, is a two-tone sock. My first pair of two-tone socks was one with blue and red. I was simply stunned by the different combinations that were available to me once I wore them. Know that a single pair of socks is so versatile that it can be literally worn with 2/3 or more of your entire wardrobe. If you have enough contrast here, to make it not boring and not too close. No matter what pants or shoes you have in your wardrobe, having a range of different socks helps you to really create a number of different outfits and it's much less expensive than buying either shoes, suits, or pants. The opportunity of creating different outfits just by changing your socks is endless. Ideally, you pick one color that's slightly similar and one that's contrasting. On top of that, you can also decide to match your socks to a different accessory such as your pocket square, your boutonniere, or your tie. Sometimes, people also pair their sock color to the lining color of their suit which can also look quite stunning. Another advantage of two-tone socks is that you can actually match the color mainly with the shoes rather than the pants. As far as dressing for the office goes, a lot depends on the culture but over the years, things have changed dramatically and today, we go through the decades and we will give you a specific rundown of what items to wear, what not to wear, and particularly, what shoes you can focus on. In the last thirty years, the formality scale has dropped dramatically and today, probably just 1/10 office workers wear a full suit. As with many trends in menswear, the World War set a huge impact on style and dress code for the office and it usually meant that it was more casual or at least, more utilitarian. So, what should you wear to work? Honestly, a lot of it depends on your workplace and the culture there. That being said, we are big supporters of the plus and minus rule. So, don't just look at what the employee handbook says but actually observe what people are wearing at the office and at your workplace. Now ideally, you want to stay within one step above what people wear. Ideally, you don't want to step below because it definitely has an impact, people see it, and they will judge you maybe just subconsciously. You've probably heard of the old saying "Don't dress for the job you have but for the job you want." That as a caveat, many CEOs today dress very casually because they are already at the top of the company and they don't have to impress anyone. At the same time, if you have client contact and you want others to respect you at the office, dressing well and dressing a step up is important. Now that being said, sometimes your manager or superior can feel threatened if you outdress them so that is one aspect to keep in mind. You do not want to offend people and hirt your chances of climbing the ladders simply because they feel threatened by the way you dress. Honestly, if that happens at your workplace, it's probably time to change jobs anyway because that is not the kind of culture that you will likely thrive in, especially not if you like to dress up. if you want a full rundown on what business casual means today, please check out the video, here. 5 WARDROBE STAPLES 1. Navy blazer Even though you never have to wear suits at work, having a blazer is ideal because it makes your otherwise very informal outfit rather formal without being over the top. 2. Chinos Ideally, you get them in some khaki color, you can also go lighter with stone, or darker with navy. 3. Dress shirts If you don't work in a super formal office, you can be a little bit more relaxed with your shirts, you can have stripes, you can add some colors, maybe checks, and you can decide if you want to have button cuffs or French cuff for cufflinks. 4. Shoes In terms of shoes, the rules have relaxed a lot. For the traditional office, you can go with the classic black cap toe oxford. At the same time, brown at the office today is probably more popular than black if you look at all the offices across the US and Europe. It really does not matter if you go with derby shoes or monk straps. 5. Socks A lot of men wear short socks or mid-calf socks when they slide down, they expose your hairy calves which is still unprofessional in this day and age. #dressingforwork #officeattire #notsponsored --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? How A Mens Dress Shoe Should Fit & How To Find The Right Shoe Size Online & In Store

11:56
Tired of wearing ill-fitting shoes? https://gentl.mn/how-a-dress-shoe-should-fit This video is brought to you in collaboration with ACE MARKS maker of fine Italian Leather Dress Shoes under $300 https://www.acemarks.com/ *** Don't forget to use the code GENTLEMAN Determine your shoe size with Ace Marks: https://www.acemarks.com/size-guide In recent years, buying shoes online has become very popular. Originally, people thought "How can I buy a shoe that I've never tried on that actually fits properly?" The solution to that problem would be that every man out there gets a pair of bespoke shoes. The problem with that is it costs about $2,000 for one pair and it's simply not something the majority of men out there can afford. That's where off the rack shoes come into play; they're nicely finished on an elegant last with high-quality leather, hand polished and burnished, at just a fraction of what a bespoke shoe would cost you. So how do you find a pair of shoes that fits you really really well? In my opinion, the most important part for the fit of a shoe is the middle part. You want it to really fit snugly around your foot so it holds it in place even without you having to tie your shoelaces. At the same time, you want the front part of your foot to have enough room in the front and be neither too wide or too slim at the side. The perfect width of the last is the one that just hugs you without being too tight or too loose. Another important aspect of the fit of the shoe is the vamp. If there's too much space between the vamp and your foot, you'll easily see wrinkles in the leather and it's also more uncomfortable to walk in them. Finally, my pet peeve with most ready to wear shoes is the heel. Most shoe companies design it so it's very roomy and wide so it fits every kind of shoe, however, I find it's very important that it's very close to your heel because that way, it hugs it, you're not gonna slide out when you walk, and it's a lot more comfortable to wear a shoe that way. Also to keep the shoe in shape, you have caps in the front and in the back. Most of the time, heel caps are stiffer than the front caps and some are really stiff and uncomfortable. So if your heel doesn't fit a hundred percent in there, it's gonna hurt and you may end up with blisters. When a shoe is new and the leather is unstretched, you will likely see a slight v-shape in between the laces in an Oxford that should close overtime. Too much of V shape means that you need to last that's slightly bigger or maybe you just have a bigger foot. Now, if you have laces you can get away with a fit that is maybe just 90 or 95 percent versus if you go with a slip on or a loafer shoe such as this penny loafer from Ace Marks, you have to get a fit that is much better because you don't have laces that help you. So one little secret that you don't hear about very often is that when you remove the shoe and you get that sound like the release of a vacuum, that's a good indicator that you have a tight fit. So now that you know how a shoe should fit properly, how do you find the proper size? In the US, the most common sizing system is the Brannock system. You can find these metal sizers in shoe stores all across the US or you can buy them on Amazon for about 60 to 65 bucks. Now, most people don't have a device at home and because of that Ace Marks provides you with a letter-sized and a din a4 format shoe sizer that you can just print out at home. Once you have it though your heel must be on the line. I always suggest taking a big book put it down. That way you can't slide back when you stand there and then you take a pen and mark it slightly facing inward where your big toe is and that way you determine your size, do it on both feet and you know exactly what size you should get. What I like about Ace Marks is that their sizing conforms to the US Brannock system so it's all in line and if you know what your Brannock size is, you know Ace Marks is going to fit. #dressshoes #howashoeshouldfit #mensshoes --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Before You Buy A Daniel Wellington, MVMT Or Michael Kors Watch - 6 Alternatives From $50 to $500

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is what I think about the extremely successful "fashion watch" brands like MVMT, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Daniel Wellington, The Fifth, Viscero, Armani etc. Well, the answers is a little complicated because there are (of course) some things I dislike about them, but there also I feel some positive things that traditional watch brands can learn from these brands too. In this video I also share my opinion on 6 brands that offer much cooler, stylish, better made and truly iconic watches costing from as less a $50 to $500.
