Deep-Sea Discoveries: Squid Graveyard
On an expedition in the Gulf of California, MBARI researchers discovered a surprising number of deep-sea squid carcasses on the ocean floor. The squid have a fascinating life history, but their story doesn't end when they die. They become food for hungry scavengers and might change the rhythm of life in the deep sea. Egg sheets were up to 2.5 m (over 8 feet) long. The Gulf of California lies between mainland Mexico and Baja. MBARI researchers conducted expeditions there in 2003, 2012 and 2015. For more information, see https://www.mbari.org/squid-graveyard/ Script and narration: Vicky Stein (MBARI Communications Intern) Video producer: Linda Kuhnz Music: Amazing Lake Original journal article: Hoving, H.J.T., Bush, S.L., Haddock, S.H.D., Robison, B.H. Greenland meltwater making sea levels rise more rapidly - TomoNews
GREENLAND — Ice melting from Greenland's ice sheets may cause a rapid increase in sea levels. It's no surprise that humankind is running against the climate-change clock, but dire changes may come sooner than expected. Ice sheets in Greenland are melting at an unprecedented rate. The most comprehensive study of the subject ever has found levels of meltwater from the Arctic island are 50 percent higher than during pre-industrial levels. According to a paper published in the journal Nature, researchers extracted ice core data in order to examine rates of surface melt and run-off in Greenland. Ice cores are long tubes of ice and snow samples drilled from an ice-sheet or glacier. Each layer contains key climate information including changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, and climate stability. The data examined goes back 339 years. The first signs of meltwater date back to the mid-1800s, coinciding with the beginning of the industrial revolution." Data from the research revealed Greenland's ice sheets are melting more quickly than they ever have in the last 350 years. According to data from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, meltwater from Greenland contributes to roughly 20 percent of the world's sea-level rise. If all the ice in Greenland melted, sea levels would rise by seven meters. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports that global sea levels are rising at an increasing rate. At the moment, sea levels are rising at a rate of 0.32 centimeters per year. How Sloths Went From the Seas to the Trees
The story of sloths is one of astounding ecological variability, with some foraging in the seas, others living underground, and others still hiding from predators in towering cliffs. So why are their only living relatives in the trees? Thanks to Ceri Thomas for allowing us to use few sloth reconstructions! For example, he held that a water sample from a mountain stream when frozen would show structures of beautifully shaped geometric design, but those structures would be distorted and randomly formed if the sample were taken from a polluted water source. Emoto held that these changes could be eliminated by exposing water to ultraviolet light or certain electromagnetic waves.[13] In 2008, Emoto published his findings in the Journal of Scientific Exploration, a peer reviewed scientific journal of the Society for Scientific Exploration.[15] The work was conducted and authored by Masaru Emoto and Takashige Kizu of Emoto’s own IHM General Institute, along with Dean Radin and Nancy Lund of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, which is on Stephen Barrett's Quackwatch list of questionable organizations.[16] In the experiment, more than 1,900 of Emoto's followers focused feelings of gratitude toward water stored in bottles, which was then frozen and its crystalline formations inspected.[10] The gratitude-focused crystals were rated slightly more "beautiful" than one set of control crystals and slightly less "beautiful" than the other controls. An objective comparison of the samples did not reveal any significant differences.[10] ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● Subscribe TrusT telivision pk : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyH4uJIbqUD2b42guz65goA/videos ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● Disclaimer- Some contents are used for educational purpose under fair use. Agulhas eddies in the South Atlantic
This video is associated with the article: Nencioli, F., Dall’Olmo, G., & Quartly, G. D. (2018). Agulhas ring transport efficiency from combined satellite altimetry and Argo profiles. Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 123, 5874–5888. https://doi.org/10.1029/2018JC013909 DESCRIPTION: Two Agulhas eddies formed in the Cape Basin in early 2013. They reached the Mid Atlantic Ridge (about 15W) by the end of 2014. Here they merged to form a third eddy which dissipated at the end of 2015 in front of the Brazilian coast. The BGC-float shown in the video is the same shown here: https://youtu.be/GKH9Rjx_cn8 The analysis indicate that the eddy sampled by the float on July-August 2014 carried water which was transported from the eastern to the western part of the South Atlantic basin in a ~3-year time-span. The eddies where detected using the method described in Nencioli et al. 2010 (https://doi.org/10.1175/2009JTECHO725.1). Surface geostrophic velocities and sea surface height used for the analysis are available at the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) website: http://marine.copernicus.eu/services-portfolio/access-to-products/?option=com_csw&view=details&product_id=SEALEVEL_GLO_PHY_L4_REP_OBSERVATIONS_008_047

Academic research is publicly funded -- why isn't it publicly available? | Erica Stone
In the US, your taxes fund academic research at public universities. Why then do you need to pay expensive, for-profit journals for the results of that research? Erica Stone advocates for a new, open-access relationship between the public and scholars, making the case that academics should publish in more accessible media. "A functioning democracy requires that the public be well-educated and well-informed," Stone says. "Instead of research happening behind paywalls and bureaucracy, wouldn't it be better if it was unfolding right in front of us?" The Sample Size Explained in One Minute: From Definition to Examples and Research Tips
The sample size seems like an easy enough concept to understand and sure, everyone kind of, sort of knows what the sample size represents. However, if you ask most people for a definition, relevant examples and detailed explanations, the responses will usually be... well, let's say sub-optimal. Simply put: the sample size is a concept most people think they understand but actually don't. At least not meaningfully. As such, I did my best to explain what the sample size is all about in just one minute: from definition to real-life examples and tips related to research. How are they formed? A black hole is a place where gravity is so strong that not even light can escape. So how does this happen? It’s all caused by dying stars. When smaller stars begin to burn out and die over billions of years, they become dense, neutron stars. When a star at least about 3 times larger than our sun dies, it creates a supernova explosion and if it is big enough, it will collapse in on itself from the force of gravity. 8. How big are black holes? Black holes come in many sizes. Can you believe the smallest ones can be the size of an atom?? Even though that may be tiny, it has the mass of a large mountain!! Scientists believe that there are mini black holes all around the universe, and possibly even on Earth. Why don't we feel them? Well, they're so small, and their gravity is so unimpactful that we just don’t feel them. 7. Spaghettification What the heck is spaghettification?? It is a scientific term, I promise. Scientists can have fun too!! Also known as the “noodle effect”, it is when things are stretched into long thin shapes, like spaghetti, because of very strong gravitational forces. 6. Black Holes Can Create Stars While you might think that black holes destroy everything, that’s not entirely true. When gigantic black holes form from a supernova, so much material explodes off far into space that they can create entire new stars!! An article was published in the journal Nature that said that supermassive black holes not only create new stars, but also control how many stars a galaxy gets!! 5. Black Holes produce a lot of energy! How is that possible? It has to do with the event horizon of the black hole. The closer things get to that event horizon, the faster things move as the gravitational force gets stronger. As all the material gathers around the event horizon and starts orbiting around, it gets faster and faster. Because of the speed it heats up, and it gets REALLY hot, like billions of degrees Fahrenheit hot. 4. How many black holes are there? As you now know, there are many different sized black holes in the universe, including some that are too tiny to see. But even if we just talked about the ones we could see, there are actually too many too count. Just within our Milky Way Galaxy, there are believed to be about 100 million black holes of the "stellar mass" variety. 3. Do black holes consume everything? Contrary to popular belief, black holes don’t go around the life force out of stars and eating everything in sight. While you might think that nothing escapes black holes, that’s not necessarily the case. Light doesn't escape black holes. Surprisingly, there are cases of black holes "spitting out" certain objects into the universe. 2. How strong is a black hole? Now that you know that black holes can’t consume everything in sight, and aren’t cosmic vacuums, just how strong is a black hole? It’s gravity doesn’t reach out infinitely. They are confined by a very basic law: the strength of gravity depends on its mass. For example, take the Earth. 1. What is at the center? When I was telling you about spaghettification, I mentioned that hypothetically, if you passed the event horizon, gravity would be so strong that you would be stretched out violently by the gravity field into a one-molecule wide string. But you would think that in theory, those molecules would get pulled into the center of the black hole. But what does that mean?? Einstein believed that that was the end. After that, everything was over. Timeless Biblical Truths with Anne Graham Lotz
Her father Billy Graham called her the best preacher in the family, and the New York Times labeled her as one of the five most influential evangelists of her generation. Hank is joined by Anne Graham Lotz, author of The Daniel Key: 20 Choices That Make All the Difference, to discuss what we can learn from Daniel, and an exploration of the timeless biblical truths that we can learn from the living Word of God. Topics discussed include: the Charles Blondin story as an illustration for faith in God (3:30); the late years of Billy Graham’s life and his love of prayer (6:05); the difficulty of growing up with her father away from the home preaching on the road and the influence of Anne’s mother as a woman of prayer (7:45); experiences that Lotz had during her youth that inspired a love of God and lifetime of service to Him (11:00); the power of transparent vulnerability and the importance of living our lives for an audience of one (14:00); centering our lives around the Lord rather than our problems (17:40); the need for Christians to transform the way we live our lives to have a greater cultural impact (20:25); the purpose of prayer as communion with God (23:10); why morning prayer is so important to Lotz (26:25); discipline is required to become a disciple (29:45); allowing time in the wilderness to prepare us (31:50); understanding that the Bible is living and active (35:00); Daniel’s habit of praying three times a day to give thanks and the importance of having an attitude of gratitude (37:55); the reality of spiritual warfare and the power of putting on the full armor of God (43:50); falling in love with the Lord and understanding that love isn’t a feeling but a commitment (49:00); the importance of Christians being people of truth in a post-truth world (50:20); experiencing the fullness of life in Christ here on Earth as a glimpse of what’s to come in heaven (53:25); Lotz recalls finding her husband unresponsive in the swimming pool, and the need for all of us to live life with death in mind (55:35); the story of Dori, a woman caught up in the turmoil of the Syrian civil war (1:01:30); putting God first and the significance of an earnest examination of our priorities in life (1:04:25); the rise and fall of empires as a reminder of the temporary nature of our lives (1:08:40); the criticality of confessing our sins as a daily practice (1:11:00); the power of prayer and fasting (1:14:45); the power of forgiveness (1:07:05). ----------------------------------- “Hank Unplugged” is Hank Hanegraaff’s audio podcast. Sailing Vessel Triteia - Dragging Anchor, Getting Oil and Exploring Sea Caves
| Season 2 | Episode 20 | This episode finds us at Cueva Valdez Anchorage where after dragging anchor in the night and having trouble getting my engine started to reset the hook I made my way over to the lobster boat Miss Mae and was greeted with a warm welcome and some life saving motor oil! After which I explored the sea caves ashore and prepared to head out to my next anchorage. The last week of 2017 I took an amazing solo sailing trip to the Channel Islands. I visit six anchorages on Santa Cruz Island before sailing for Catalina Island and tying up in Isthmus Cove for New Years Eve. We sailed back on New Years Day enjoying sunshine, great wind and thousands of dolphins. While I was on my trip I started my first podcast and the first episode is up online now. The podcast is titled “A STERN VIEW” and is something of a cruising guide to anchorages and sailing destinations. Each episode is recorded on location and I cover everything I know about the anchorage from my research and experience at the anchorage. I also kept a journal in my logbook and will be posting them as a blog with still photos. This will act as support to the A STERN VIEW podcast as will each new video episode that features the anchorage covered in the podcast episodes. The journal and Podcast can be seen and heard here: http://svtriteia.com If you like the podcast please subscribe to it on iTunes and rate / review it as it helps in the ratings! Please reach "A Stern View" in iTunes! I have started a new short video series titled Sea Stories that are only available for my Patrons. Worldwide Climate Shift Amplification Media Pushes Global Cooling to Protect Themselves (642)
With the now obvious changes in our climate signaling "Global Cooling" we see the Wall Street Journal question James Hansen's predictions and the AGW narrative, even calling out predictions that did not pan out. The media is now dripping in words to articles like, Grand Solar Minimum, Global Cooling and Shifting Cloud Patterns to give themselves some credibility as the climate cools. When meteorologists in Canada call all time record snow "White Rain" because they don't feel snow belongs in summertime lexicon of weather forecasting, we have a huge shift happening in the media arenas. Record snow in Italy, Canada, Slovakia, Ukraine, Poland, Slovenia all this week, people are starting to ask questions about the media we are being fed. Arctic ice at 13 year highs, Greenland Ice Budget growing, Antarctic Sea Ice growing, people are really starting to wake up. This will be the last year of "Global Warming" on our planet. *** ADAPT 2030 True Leaf Market Link *** http://www.pjtra.com/t/SkNITkxPS0xDR0xPRkdLQ0dLSUdOSw *** Today’s Story Links *** After Thirty Years, How Well Do Global Warming Predictions Stand Up? https://www.iceagenow.info/after-thirty-years-how-well-do-global-warming-predictions-stand-up/ Switzerland Record snow 2018 https://www.iceagenow.info/?s=switzerland https://www.thelocal.ch/20180504/experts-confirm-winter-broke-records-for-snowfall USA Temperatures http://notrickszone.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Bastardi_1.png Arctic Sea Ice http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/ Arctic Sea Ice at 13 year highs https://realclimatescience.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/chart1_shadow-22.png Greenland Ice https://nsidc.org/greenland-today/ DMI Arctic Sea Ice http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/icecover.uk.php Antarctic Sea Ice https://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/ https://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/daily_images/S_stddev_timeseries.png https://twitter.com/KiryeNet Current #Arctic sea ice volume is the 3rd highest volume in 16 years! https://twitter.com/KiryeNet/status/1011572954793066497 Newfoundland Record Summer Snow Canada https://globalnews.ca/news/4296961/summer-snow-newfoundland/ http://ntv.ca/snow-pictures-from-june-26-2018/ Hot air cartoon https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DgrT2C5XkAA73jf.jpg MODIS Satellite images June https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dgj-I2kXcAAKkvf.jpg Thirty Years On, How Well Do Global Warming Predictions Stand Up? https://www.wsj.com/articles/thirty-years-on-how-well-do-global-warming-predictions-stand-up-1529623442 https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/06/22/thirty-years-on-how-well-do-global-warming-predictions-stand-up/ The Version 6.0 global average lower tropospheric temperature (LT) anomaly for May, 2018 was +0.18 deg. Greenland ice melting is 'unprecedented', new research says
Greenland ice melting is 'unprecedented', new research says: . Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_PwdFVp32NtZPUqZfAM_jw?sub_confirmation=1 Greenland’s ice sheet is melting at a faster rate than previously thought and continued global warming will accelerate thawing and contribute to rising sea levels, scientists say in a new paper. In a paper published in the journal Nature on Wednesday, scientists from the United States, Belgium and the Netherlands analysed melt layers in ice cores in western Greenland to develop a record spanning 350 years. The magnitude of Greenland ice sheet melting is “exceptional” over at least the last 350 years, the study found. Continued growth of the global average temperature will accelerate the melting and contribute to sea level rise, scientists said. Ice sheet melting began to increase soon after the mid-1800s. Surface melting was the most extensive in 2012 than any time over the past 350 years and the period of 2004-2013 had more sustained and intense melting than any other 10-year period recorded. “We are seeing levels of Greenland ice melt and runoff that are already unprecedented over recent centuries (and likely millennia) in direct response to warming global temperatures since the pre-Industrial era,” Sarah Das, co-author of the report and scientist at the US-based Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution said in a statement. The study showed that although a minor warming event in the past might have had little or no impact on the melting, the same event in a warmer climate in the future could produce a larger melt effect. “What this means for the future is that for every further degree of warming, we will lose much more ice, on the order of a doubling or more (leading to faster rates of sea level rise), than we did for the same degree of warming in the past,” Das said. Low-lying tropical island states from the Maldives to Tuvalu view Greenland’s 3000-metre thick ice sheet with foreboding since it contains enough ice to raise world sea levels by around 7 metres if it all melted, over many centuries. A UN report in October said that marine ice sheet instability in Antarctica and/or the irreversible loss of the Greenland ice sheet could result in a multi-metre rise in the sea level over hundreds to thousands of years. Around 190 countries are currently meeting in Poland to work out the details of the 2015 Paris Agreement which aims to limit temperature rise to below 2 degrees Celsius this century.-AAP #Greenland, #melting, #unprecedented, #research, #says

क्या मछलियां बिजली का सामना कर पाती है | Does Lightning Kill fish ?
Reimagine Reality Why Do Fish Not Die When Lightning Strikes The Sea? | Does Lightning Kill fish There are a few reasons, but here's the most basic: lightning just doesn't strike the ocean that much. In 2014, the Journal of Geophysical Research published a map that amassed five years of global lightning-strike data from two weather satellites. It showed that lightning strikes over land 10 times more often than it does over oceans. According to the NASA Earth Observatory, this makes sense because of the way lightning forms. Solid earth absorbs sunlight and heats up faster than water does. That heat causes more convection and instability in the atmosphere, which in turn causes more thunder- and lightning-producing storms to form. what is a black hole in Hindi https://youtu.be/4xLiO-kKIDk what is a white hole in Hindi https://youtu.be/tnfHt25CjBs other videos time travel in future and their cases Hindi link:-https://youtu.be/zd4sdH6lFqE time travel through black hole hindi link:-https://youtu.be/21eHlIpCMb8 time travel in past and their cases Hindi link:-https://youtu.be/9Fqw_Iurx8E what would happen when we travel inside a black hole https://youtu.be/yIuVm8hHp0o Please Give us Your Support Subscribe and Share this Channel With Your Friends Powered by: UNI ISN **Stay Connected with me** Facebook-https://www.facebook.com/physicstvindia/ facebook group:http://bit.ly/2jMjv1r Twitter-https://twitter.com/physicstvindia Google Plus-http://bit.ly/2gMNuQM instagram:-https://www.instagram.com/physicstvindia/ !!==–..__..-=-._; !!==–[email protected]=-._; !!==–..__..-=-._; !! !! !! !! !! \\\|||\\\|||\\\ \\\|||\\\|||\\\PHYSICS TV INDIA \\\|||\\\|||\\\\\\|||\\\|||\\\ special thanks to pixabay ,incomptech, Background Music Credit ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Music by: Music Source: http://www.incompetech.com Artist http://www.incompetech.com Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer- Some contents are used for an educational purpose under fair use. Champ the Lake Champlain Dinosaur Monster - Unsolved Mysteries | Robert Stack
The famous photo of the Lake Champlain monster was taken by Sandi Mansi in 1977 as her family was enjoying a picnic near the lake. Hundreds of people, dating all the way back to the Abenaqi Indians, claim to have seen the creature. Lake Champlain is a very deep, 125 mile long waterway that forms the border between the states of NY and VT. It is accessed by sea through the St. Lawrence Seaway and this entire region is thought to have been the “Champlain Sea” at the end of the Ice Age. The first recorded sighting of the monster took place when Samuel de Champlain came upon the lake in July of 1609. During this expedition, the French explorer noted in his journal the sighting of “a 20-foot serpent, with a horse-shaped head and body as thick as a keg.” Some have claimed that Champlain only saw a gar pike, whose alligator snout and 6 ft length make them look like a sea monster. Since that time, sightings of a strange aquatic beast in the lake have been reported by over 600 people, many documented in Joseph Zarzynski’s definitive 1984 book Champ–Beyond the Legend. Remastered by TAC TIMES Subscribe @ https://www.youtube.com/tactimes www.tactimes.com “Dennis Hall has personally encountered the creature on several occasions and has obtained several photographs and videotaped evidence. In fact, Dennis may be the only person to have ever captured a Champ specimen. In the 1970s Dennis discovered an unusual looking 12-inch-long reptile in a marshy area bordering the lake. The creature looked like no other living reptile and possessed a strange forked tongue. Upon inspecting the creature Dennis’ father thought the beastie strange enough to be worthy of examination by the scientists at the University of Vermont who indicated that it was unlike any living reptile in the catalog. Like many a cryptozoological creature, this one was somehow lost thereby ensuring that the monster would remain an enigma. Dennis Hall subsequently saw what he thought was the spitting image of the creature he once possessed in a book on prehistoric reptiles. Tanystropheus, extinct for millions of years, appeared to be the long-lost twin of Hall’s 12-inch specimen. Considerably larger and with a fairly long neck, Tanystropheus enjoyed a semi-aquatic existence much like Champ.” (Kirk, John, In the Domain of the Lake Monsters, 1998, pp. 132-133.) Perhaps the most intriguing evidence for Champ’s existence comes from underwater recordings. In 2003 a team doing research for the Discovery Channel picked up a high-pitched ticking and chirping noise like what a dolphin or whale makes. Obviously these creatures would not be in freshwater, many miles away from the ocean. Featured on the TV program Unsolved Mysteries, Champ has been amateur video-taped several times (see picture to the right). On February 22, 2006 ABC News obtained an exclusive video of something just under the surface of the lake that some say may be Champ. The video, including humps and what appears to be a long slender neck and monster head (see on left), was taken by two fishermen with their digital camera. Before their supposed sighting, they were Champ skeptics. ABC News has since removed the original video from their website and replaced it with an unrelated, low quality video of Lake Champlain, but it can still be seen on this YouTube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfzAGsVvyfE In 1993 a Japanese team searched the entire lake with 15 boats and multiple helicopters. They came back with a sonar report of a very large object (about 20 ft long) having passed under them. More recently, Dennis Hall teamed up with Katy Elizabeth in a research initiative that they called Champ Search. They set up a hydrophone underwater system to listen to sounds in the lake. On July 31, 2014 the monster hunters electronically captured loud clicking sounds in a region called Scotch Bonnet, providing some of the most compelling scientific evidence to date of the unknown aquatic animal. Check out the Champ Search website to listen to the recording for yourself. Many people believe Champ to be a living plesiosaur. https://officialchampsearch.webs.com/ Source: https://www.genesispark.com/exhibits/evidence/cryptozoological/plesiosaurs/champ/ This episode includes: Love Triangle & UD, Champ, Pierre's Amnesia & UD, UD: Honky Tonk Woman, Killer Kranz & UD and Memphis Kidnap & UD. Hosted by Robert Stack, this series uses re-enactments and interviews to retell the circumstances of, well, mysteries that are unsolved. Covering crimes, tales of lost love, unexplained history and paranormal events.

The Dynamic Kanban Board: How To Manage Work Projects in your Bullet Journal // PLANT BASED BRIDE
I'm excited to be sharing my brand new work project management spread with you today! This is a combination of a leveled up to do list and a dynamic kanban board, and I am really looking forward to starting to use it in my day-to-day. I asked you on instagram if you'd rather see this spread or a skincare spread first, and you chose the project management spread so here it is! Don't forget to follow me on instagram so you can have a say in the content I create for you all: https://instagram.com/elizabethturn/ I was inspired to create this spread after reading the following two blog posts: 1. Minimal Plan: http://minimal-plan.com/en/project-management-bullet-journal-2-action-plan/ 2. Ink By Jen G: https://www.inkbyjeng.com/blog/dynamic-kanban-board-in-your-bullet-journal Go follow Claire and Jen, if you aren't already, because they are amazing! So what is a Kanban Board anyway? At the most basic level, Kanban Boards allow you to visualize and map your workflow for projects. The Kanban technique was first established by Toyota in the 1940s (Kanban is Japanese for "sign" or "billboard") and began with physical cards passed down the stream of manufacturing from one line worker to another.  The system is highly customizable and allows teams or individuals full freedom in creating a board that works for them and the types of projects they work on. All you have to do is figure out which steps are universal to all of your projects and lay those steps out in a notebook or on a whiteboard.  The simplest versions I've seen have three categories, Plan / Process / Complete (or To Do / Doing / Done).  I decided to add one more category and ended up with To Do / Plan / Progress / Implement, as these are the steps relevant to the types of projects I tackle at work.  The fun part is that you can split up your project into however many and whatever types of categories you like! Once you have your board set up all you need to do is write each project on it's own sticky note and place it on the board at the appropriate step in the process and move them as they progress to the next step.  This is a very effective tool for visual learners and can be very helpful is you have multiple projects on the go at a time or work with a team! Barbuda Officials join Sea Shepherd on patrol looking for nesting turtles
The Barbuda Council has been an enthusiastic supporter of sea turtle research and conservation, and Council members joined the crew of Operation Jairo this week for night patrols on Low Bay, Barbuda. Watch as Kendra Beazer, Barbuda's Chairman of Agriculture, Fisheries, Lands, and Coastal Protection, and Asha Frank, the Barbuda Council Chair of Tourism, Sport, Culture, and Youth Affairs, share their experiences working with Sea Shepherd. Also witness a mother sea turtle lay her eggs, free of endangerment from poachers. With only 1 in 1000 sea turtles surviving to adulthood, it is critical that these mother turtles have the opportunity to safely give birth. Sea Shepherd is there to ensure that they can do so, as well as to protect the eggs and hatchlings from poachers and other threats. #OpJairo #SeaShepherd Learn more at: seashepherd.org/jairo

Scripps Oceanography Beach Nourishment Research
New research is shedding light on how mechanically placed sand on San Diego County beaches moves and its potential impacts. The study, published in the journal Coastal Engineering, could help planners develop beach nourishment projects that will reach their intended goals without causing unintended problems. North San Diego County for instance is planning a 50-year, $160-million series of beach nourishments intended to combat flooding and erosion, and provide recreational space for tourists. The new study, conducted by researchers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego, and funded in part by California Sea Grant, analyzed four beach nourishment projects in San Diego County to see how they fared in the years after the nourishment. It provides a better understanding of how nourishment sand moves in response to waves and currents, which could provide insight for more effective beach nourishment projects in the future. “There’s a lot that is not known about how sand moves,” said Scripps postdoctoral researcher Bonnie Ludka, who led the study. “If you put sand on a beach, it won’t just stay in one place. The question is, how long does it stay where you want it? And as it moves, where does it go?” For more videos, please visit THE YACHT CHANNEL at: http://YachtVids.com

Riddle of the Younger Dryas | George Howard of Comet Research Group | REC by Randall Carlson
26:16 is where George Howard comes on the show I recommend fast forwarding. Leave a comment and say where you're from, curious to know about you who are listening. I too find this new data fascinating. I am from San Francisco, California, USA. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| A fantastic talk between Seven Ages Audio Journal and scientist George Howard about the Younger Dryas extraterrestrial impact hypothesis. George Howard was mentioned by Randall Carlson. He is part of the Comet Research Group |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| Excerpt from website: "This week on the Seven Ages Audio Journal, after sharing a number of emails from our listeners, we shift our focus to one of the most unusual periods of great climate change in the ancient world. Known as the Younger Dryas, the event marked a sudden cooling period beginning approximately 12,900 years BP, as our planet was exiting the last ice age. Joining us to discuss the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis is independent researcher George Howard. An avocational scientist and co-founder and CEO of Restoration Systems, Howard graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999. He worked in Washington DC from 1990 to 1996 as a legislative staffer, where he was responsible for environmental public policy, particularly wetlands, water quality and species issues. In 2001, Howard was contacted by William Topping, Ph.D. and Richard Firestone, Ph.D., which led to work with a team of multidisciplinary researchers that began to refine the nature and evidence for a hypothetical impact event associated with the Younger Dryas. A series of controversial peer-reviewed papers and presentations produced since that time document the joint efforts of what has come to be known as the Comet Research Group. Howard spends time with Seven Ages for a wide-ranging discussion about what the latest science says in support of this controversial theory, as well as what its implications may be." ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| Source website: https://sevenages.org/podcasts/seven-ages-audio-journal-episode-nine-riddle-younger-dryas/ ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| Links to some articles talked about on the show: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-16958-2

When asked to repeat the same task 24-hours later, those who had exercised used far fewer brain resources. Credit McGill University Usage Restrictions None Script: New research in the journal Neuroimage shows how exercising after learning new skills can help you learn new motor skills. When people learn a new skill they often talk about “muscle memory”, the idea that once you train yourself, your muscles remember where things are or how to do it. But, what we call muscle memory is not really located in your muscles. You muscles build the flexibility and strength to do the task, but the memory of how to do it is found in your brain and nervous system. Researches used a pinch test, which involved a pressure meter, called a dynamometer to play a video game. Participants had to use pressure on the meter to move objects on the screen. Afterwards, they were divided into 2 categories. Some of them got to rest, some of them had to hop on a bike and get their heart pumping. They were then tested again in the game after 8 and 24 hours while having their brains scanned. The group who had the exercise showed that exercising after practicing a skills improves long-term retention. The brain scans also revealed that improvements correlated to brain-wave synchronization, and more efficient connectivity between the brain’s cortex and muscles. Several studies have been done a exercise and memory, but this study helped researchers understand more about what was going on in the brain to bring the improvements. This can easily be applied in your life, and it also has medical applications. For people who’ve been injured, or suffered damage from a stroke, and are going through rehabilitation, adding in some cardiovascular exercise after your rehab session could improve the efficiency of the session. Depending on the location and extent of the injury, you might have to use a different muscle group to get your exercise. For example, if your going through rehab for a broken leg, you might have to exercise with your arms. Make sure you ask your doctor or physical therapist for the best way to go about this.

60,000 Ton "Anomaly" Beneath The Sea of Galilee?
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/MysteryHistory Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MysteryHistoryBook/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Mysterytweetery Steemit: https://steemit.com/@mysteryhistory The sea of Galilee. Although not a real sea, it has remains named as such due to the staunch traditions, mainly religious, which have grown and flourished from around its shores. The first-century historian Flavius Josephus for example, was so impressed by the areas surrounding the sea of Galilee, he once wrote, quote, "One may call this place the ambition of Nature.” Reporting a thriving fishing industry around the lake, with well over 200 boats regularly working the waters. Archaeologists have since discovered only one such fishing vessel, found in 1986, it has been nicknamed “the Jesus Boat.” According to Christian religion, much of the ministry of Jesus Christ himself, actually occurred upon the shores of the sea of Galilee. And a recent discovery within the waters themselves has continued to perplex specialists within the area, astounding all who have been exploring said discovery. The mysterious structure is cone shaped, made of "unhewn basalt cobbles and boulders," and weighs an estimated 60,000 tons according to researchers. An astonishing size, making it much heavier than any of our modern-day warships. Rising nearly 32 feet out of the ancient seas sediment, it also has a diameter of about 230 feet. Stonehenge for example, which is an impressive ancient structure in its own right, has an outer stone circle diameter of only half that. First discovered in 2003 using sonar exploration of the southwest portion of the sea. Divers have since been down to investigated the presumably ancient structure, writing regarding there finds within the latest issue of the International Journal of Nautical Archaeology. Researcher Yitzhak Paz, Antiquities Authority and Ben-Gurion University, believes it could date back more than 4,000 years. Quote, "The more logical possibility is that it belongs to the third millennium B.C., because there are other megalithic phenomena [from that time] that are found close by," Paz told LiveScience.com, in an interview, noting that those sites are associated with fortified settlements. Could it be that this is where the peoples of Bet Yerah buried and honoured their dead? Is this a proverbial city of the dead? Or something else entirely… As more research is undertaken, it is only a matter of time before we understand this amazing structure for what it truly once was. We will of course keep you posted, Thanks for watching guys, and until next time, take care. http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/archaeologists-discover-ancient-60000-ton-structure-beneath-sea-galilee http://www.ancient-origins.net/ancient-places-asia/enormous-underwater-structure-sea-galilee-mystery-archaeologists-008068

China’s Claim to the Spratly Islands is Just a Mistake
China’s Claim to the Spratly Islands is Just a Mistake SUBSCRIBE my channel here: https://goo.gl/F8gn4Z G+ here: https://goo.gl/UzMJVe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This article is an adaptation of an academic publication by Bill Hayton published in ‘Modern China’ as ‘The Modern Origins of China’s South China Sea Claims: Maps, Misunderstandings, and the Maritime Geobody.’ A version of this article was published in Vietnamese by BBC and may be read here. By Bill Hayton The South China Sea is a dangerous place because of the layering of several different struggles on top of one another. There are struggles over the future of the world order, struggles between regional powers, and struggles over maritime resources. But underlying them all is a knot of territorial disputes over a few hundred tiny rocks and reefs. Given how much attention the disputes currently attract, it is surprising how little attention has been paid to their origins. A few flawed accounts were written several decades ago but more evidence has come to light since then and it is time to revise the conventional wisdom. Governments like to pretend that their claims to the hundreds of rocks and reefs in the sea are historical and logical. However, after several years of studying them, it is clear that this is far from true. The focus of most of the current trouble in the South China Sea is the Spratly Islands and a few underwater features that are closer to the coasts of Vietnam and Borneo. These are a very long way from the Chinese mainland and China has never made clear the precise origins of its claim to them. My own research – just published in the academic journal ‘Modern China’ – leads me to conclude that the Chinese claim only emerged because of some poor translation and bad map-making during the 1930s. My conclusion is that China’s claim to the Spratly Islands is actually a mistake. The First Claim The story of China’s claims in the South China Sea began in 1907 with the discovery of a Japanese merchant digging up petrified bird droppings on the island of Pr... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s a hospital in Borneo that provides affordable health care to villages on the edge of a national park in return for a pledge not to cut down trees, The pledges are monitored, and the result is a dramatic decrease in deforestation rates and an increase in the health of the local population. The founders are hoping to spread the idea to other countries. (see https://psmag.com/social-justice/save-the-trees-well-save-your-life-46121 for an explanation of their work.) Jaekelopterus : इतिहास के सबसे विशालकाए बिच्छू || Largest Sea Scorpion Ever (Universe Hindi)
Jaekelopterus : इतिहास के सबसे विशालकाए बिच्छू || Largest Sea Scorpion Ever **Jaekelopterus jaekelopterus is a genus of giant predatory eurypterid, an extinct group of aquatic arthropods. Fossils of Jaekelopterus have been discovered in deposits of Early Devonian age, from the Pragian and Emsian stages, and have been referred to two known species, the type species J. rhenaniae from freshwater strata in the Rhineland and J. howelli from estuarine strata in Wyoming. The generic name is composed of a patronym honouring German paleontologist Otto Jaekel, who described the type species, and the Greek word πτερόν (pteron) meaning "wing".Based on the isolated fossil remains of a large chelicera (claw) from the Klerf Formation of Germany, J. rhenaniae has been estimated to have reached a size of around 2.3–2.6 metres (7.5–8.5 ft), average 2.5 metres (8.2 ft), which would make Jaekelopterus the largest known arthropod ever discovered, surpassing other large arthropods such as fellow giant eurypterids Acutiramus and Pterygotus and the giant millipede Arthropleura.Studies on the chelicerae and compound eyes of Jaekelopterus have revealed that it was an active and powerful predator with high visual acuity and it likely represented an apex predator in the ecosystems of Early Devonian Euramerica. Although eurypterids such as Jaekelopterus are often called "sea scorpions", the strata in which Jaekelopterus has been found suggest that it dwelled in freshwater systems and estuaries, rather than in marine environments proper. **Giant sea scorpion discovered Those who are unnerved by creepy crawlies should stop reading now — a newly discovered two-and-a-half-metre monster arthropod, the largest yet discovered, is being unleashed on the world.Luckily for those of a nervous disposition, the release of this long-extinct relative of sea scorpions is limited to the pages of the journal Biology Letters. There, Simon Braddy of the University of Bristol, UK, and colleagues report finding a 46-centimetre claw from a Jaekelopterus rhenaniae— from which they infer the existence of a giant example of this species1.Although called a 'sea' scorpion, the 400-million-year-old beast probably terrorized lakes and rivers, and rarely, if ever, ventured into the oceans."This huge monster lived alongside other sea scorpions and fish," says Braddy. "They would probably lie in wait. When another animal went in front of it, it would lurch forward and capture it. ... These things would tear their prey to shreds and then eat the little pieces." Largest Sea Scorpion Ever, biggest scorpions in the world, largest scorpions in hindi, jaekelopterus, jaekelopterus sea scorpion in hindi, jaekelopterus documentary, jaekelopterus still alive **Jaekelopterus Jaekelopterus is an extinct genus of sea scorpion. Jaekelopterus lived approximately 390 million years ago. At an estimated length of 2.5 metres (8.2 ft), it is the largest known arthropod ever discovered, surpassing the Pterygotus and even the millipede-like Arthropleura. There are two species, one being the type species, J. rhenaniae, from freshwater strata in the Rhineland, and J. howelli from estuarine strata in Wyoming.aekelopterus is currently the largest known eurypterid and the largest known arthropod. The J. rhenaniae claw was found near Prüm in Germany. To work out the size of the arthropod it belonged to, Braddy and colleagues collected information on closely related sea scorpions and the ratio between their claw size and body length. This turned out to be relatively constant, leading the researchers to conclude that a creature with a 46-centimetre claw probably had a body length between 233–259 cm (7 ft 8 in–8 ft 6 in) (246 cm (8 ft 1 in) on average). When extended, the chelicerae would have added another 1 metre (3.3 ft) to its length.
