Paddle To The Sea - Classic Children's Film - Part 1 of 3

09:55
Hello Paddle Fans! Here, finally, is the classic live action film version of "Paddle To The Sea" - shown on Youtube in 3 parts. Paddle To The Sea was filmed by Bill Mason in 1966, and was inspired by the brilliant Children's Book of the same title, written in 1941 by H. C. Holling. The 1966 film version seen here was eventually nominated for an Academy Award two years later in 1968, for Best Short Film, because it was so beautifully done by the director - Canadian naturalist, master canoeist, artist and filmmaker Bill Mason. Bill personally hand-carved from wood, in meticulous detail very faithful to the book illustrations, the beautiful wooden "Paddle" models seen in the film. This story (both book and film version) has been loved by generations of school children for decades as they learn about the history of the Great Lakes region of North America while they follow the exciting adventures of a brave toy Wooden Indian in his tiny but sturdy Canoe (hand carved by a Native Canadian boy from Nipigon Country). If you'd like to view the entire film online for free please visit this web site: http://www.nighttrainfilms.net/NTFWEB/NTFPages/PaddleToTheSea/index.htm You can also read the entire classic book online at the same site, with big bright full pages - all for free at the same web site. Children love the site and can view the film version and/or the book version at the same time from anywhere in the world with internet access. Paddle To The Sea has been made available online here and at the web site to encourage you to go out and BUY this great piece of art in book form and dvd form. Both are finally available now in the US and Canada. Let's all make sure this cherished story of Paddle To The Sea, both the book and film version, survives online to reach out across time and space so it will never be lost to our newer generations. Paddle To The Sea is a beautiful story with a fantastic message - and it's just great fun for all ages too! Wow, when I was reading that story of the Indian boy who grew up and read in the newspapers that his little Paddle-to-the-Sea canoe made it to the Sea, made it to the totality, I really choked up. If you have a toddler, get this book and read it over and over again. You can't get the original like I have, but it has been reprinted many time. Looking at the video as I write this, I'm reading the story to you. I am Paddle-to-the-Sea; YOU are Paddle-to-the-sea....The sea of totally is already always within you as You. And yet we have to paddle.

Please have a visit and "like" if you are so inclined. Learn more there of this wonderful children's book by Holling C. Holling. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Paddle-to-the-Sea/24957016474 Paddle to the Sea Park is inspired by Holling C. Holling's book Paddle to the Sea. The book is a classic tale of an Indian boy who sets out to carve a man in a canoe. The young Ojibway boy, living in the Nipigon area, carves a man who will set out to the Atlantic via the North American Great Lakes starting at Lake Superior. Carved throughout the winter - upon completion - the boy sets his carving down on a frozen stream to await spring's arrival where it will be whisked away by the melting snow and set out on what turns out to be a harrowing adventure. The book tells the tale of the adventures and all that befalls the canoe on its long odyssey from Lake Superior to the Sea [Atlantic Ocean].

This section of the river has not been paddled in recent memory. The concern was getting caught in the Tidal Bore of the Fundy. Calculations have shows that on certain days if you leave at the right time a downstream paddle is possible to Maitland from Shubenacadie. Almost 100 paddlers showed up to test the lower reaches of the Shubanacadie River.. All bodies were accounted for at the takeout point..

"Paddle-to-the-Sea" Holling C. Holling / "The Final Frontier" Northern Exposure

00:53
-.- At Lake Nipigon, Canada, a boy carves a wooden model of an Indian in a canoe and sets it free to travel the Great Lakes to the Atlantic ocean. The story follows the progress of the little wooden Indian on its journey through all five Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. People carve in the bottom of him where he has been and then they put him in the water again. Chris-in-the-morning reads this as well as other excerpts from "Paddle-to-the-Sea" in episode 3x20 "The Final Frontier" of Northern Exposure.

Available worldwide on Cedille Records February 9, 2018. Pre-order now: http://www.cedillerecords.org/albums/paddle-to-the-sea http://thirdcoastpercussion.com/merchandise/ After their 2017 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance, Third Coast Percussion returns to Cedille Records with an album inspired by the classic children’s book and film “Paddle to the Sea.” Paddle to the Sea, is the focus of a new project and album from Grammy-winning Chicago quartet Third Coast Percussion that looks at our relationship to the bodies of water that connect our lives. Third Coast Percussion composed a new score to be performed live with the film, which tells the story of a Native Canadian boy who carves a wooden figure called Paddle-to-the-Sea and sets him on a journey through all five Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence River, and finally to the Atlantic Ocean. Paddle to the Sea underscores the geographic, economic, and cultural connections in our shared waterways, and it also asks us to consider the human impact on the waters that help us transport our goods, provide our electrical power, bathe ourselves, cook our food, and quench our thirst. The performance includes music collaboratively composed by the four members of Third Coast Percussion as an updated soundtrack for the film, as well as the other water-themed works that provided inspiration to the quartet as they composed this music. These include works by American composers Philip Glass (arranged by Third Coast Percussion) and Jacob Druckman, as well as music from Zimbabwe’s Shona people, shaped by Third Coast Percussion under the tutelage of master mbira player Musekiwa Chingodza. This project is supported by the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the Elizabeth F Cheney Foundation, and is made possible through a collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada.
