***5 ways to get free wedding photography marketing for your business that will pay dividends for years to come.***
Being able to take gorgeous photos is an essential part of being a successful wedding photographer. But it means nothing if you can’t get those images and your brand to prospective brides and grooms.
Too often we spend a lot of time and money focusing on the photography side of our business and forget about the importance of marketing and advertising. Prospective couples are going to want to see your work multiple times and through different avenues before they book you.
In this video, I’m going to share your five ways to get free wedding photography marketing for your business that you can start doing right now. And the best part about these marketing strategies is that they will pay dividends for years to come.
Firstly, you need to have a professional website that’s aesthetically pleasing, easy to navigate and fits your brand and style. Unless you’re a seasoned web developer, this is probably going to require some kind of upfront investment.
But once you’re up and running, maintaining your website and ensuring it’s speaking to the right clientele is something that you can do for free. The analytics from your website is also a powerful tool in understanding how clients are accessing your website, how long they’re staying and which pages are making the most impact.
Tied in with your website is my second free way to market your wedding photography business and that’s through SEO. Having your website Search Engine Optimized means that prospective clients are going to find you when searching specific keywords and through the “Map Pack”.
When it comes to SEO, you are going to have to invest your time implementing it into blog posts, image alt tags and descriptions, as well as the metadata for your pages. But once it’s there, you’ll reap the rewards for years to come.
Thirdly, in this day and age, we can’t talk about marketing without considering social media, which is the preferred way for many to share information and find recommendations. Instagram is currently the platform of choice for most brides and grooms but I also tie this in with my Facebook fan page so I can access the data about who’s visiting my profile.
Another powerful wedding photography marketing tool that won’t cost you a thing is reviews and, more specifically, quality, recent reviews. Praise from past clients can be the catalyst for convincing prospective clients to book you, giving them peace of mind that you will deliver what you say you will.
A quick Google search shows that wedding resource websites like Wedding Wire and the Knot almost always appear on the first page of results, so having a presence here can work wonders. Kindly ask your clients to write a review after you deliver the images or albums and, provided you’ve offered excellent customer service, most will be more than willing to oblige.
Finally, don’t underestimate the value of your fellow wedding vendors and venues in getting your name out there. If you leave a good impression on them, tag them in online images or put together galleries specifically for them, they’re more likely to recommend you to their clients.
You might connect with them at networking events or even plan a stylised shoot together and it’s through these working relationships that you can potentially get free referrals that can translate into bookings.
It’s important to mention that you don’t have to work on all five ways to get free wedding photography marketing for your business at once. Just start with implementing one or two into your workflow at a time and see what works best for you.
