Oven-Baked BBQ Spare Ribs: How To Make Barbecue Pork Ribs In The Oven

Click the link below if you want to donate to PBJ! https://www.gofundme.com/PbjCookingShow Follow Me On Social Media Facebook: https://goo.gl/akvlI4 Twitter: https://goo.gl/g5r56y Instagram: https://goo.gl/6CmC3U Pinterest: https://goo.gl/lNEKzb Oven Baked BBQ Spare Ribs Recipe Ingredients  4 Lbs Pork Spare Ribs 4 Tbs Onion, finely chopped 1 Tbs Butter 1/2 Cup Water 1/2 Cup BBQ Sauce 3 Tbs Brown Sugar 1 Tbs Salt 1 Tsp Celery Salt 1 Tsp Garlic Powder 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper 1/4 Tsp Cayenne Instructions 1. There are a few things you need to do to prepare the ribs before cooking them. The first thing you're going to do is fill a big bowl with cool water. Add 1 tbs of salt to the water to create a salt water solution and allow the ribs to soak until thawed.  Once thawed, begin removing the excess fat and membrane from the ribs. I find that the easiest way to remove the membrane is lift up the ends of the membrane with your fingernails or a knife and begin slowly pulling the membrane off. Pull it off slowly so that it doesn't rip as you're removing it. Now you don't have to remove all of the fat on the ribs but you do want to remove as much of it as possible. Fat provides flavor so you don't need to remove all of it but you do want to remove the EXCESS fat, however. To get a visual of how to remove the membrane and excess fat from the ribs, scroll down and check out my video tutorial.  2. This is the perfect time to prepare your onion and rib rub, so chop your onion into small pieces, then combine your seasonings...... place all the seasonings into a small bowl, then stir them in together to create a rub. 3. What you're going to do next, is cut the ribs. Some people cut the slap of ribs into individual pieces once they're done cooking and are tender. I find that separating the ribs before cooking them is better because when you separate them once they're done, they'll break apart due to being so tender, and look messy as a result. So with a sharp knife, start at the top of the slab of rib and cut off the boneless meat. Afterward, cut them into individual pieces by cutting in-between each bone. You can cut them into ribs of 2 bones or ribs of 1 bone. I like 1 bone ribs so I cut the meat in between each bone versus cutting the meat between every other bone.  4. Now it's time to marinate the ribs. This is optional so if you're short on time, don't worry they'll still come out good if you don't marinate them. I always marinate thick heavy meats such as pork, ham, steak, and ribs to infuse and maximize flavor.  I marinate thick meats because it takes more time for the seasoning to fully permeate them. Place the ribs in a big mixing bowl or whatever you can fit them into. Add your seasonings, onions, and 4 tbs of your favorite BBQ sauce, then massage everything in well. Cover the ribs and store them in the refrigerator for at least 5 hours. I like to marinate my meats overnight or for at least 8 hours, the more time the better. 5. Once the ribs are done marinating, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  6. Get a baking dish, add the ribs, and pour in the water.  7. Next, add the butter. The butter is optional so you don't have to use it.  8. Now you're going to cover your ribs with aluminum foil and bake them for 1 hr and 30 minutes.  9. After 1 hr and 30 minutes, remove the aluminum foil and drain the fat. Rub the remaining BBQ sauce onto the ribs and place them back into the oven, then bake the ribs for an additional 30 minutes uncovered! Lololololol! As you can see in the photo above, the ribs were tender, juicy, and sooooo good. I couldn't help but tease you guys with a picture. I devoured these ribs... yall are going to kill em too!!!! Later!

BBQ Ribs Recipe Pit Boys Country Style

Here at the Pit, we call them "Jacks Ribs" but typically they are known as Country Style Pork Ribs. They are simple to grill and a great recipe to have on hand if you need a quick and easy meal hot off the BBQ grill. Country Style Pork Ribs, 3 -18oz. bottles of your favorite barbecue sauce, 12oz. beer (or water will do). Get your charcoal grill good and hot and in about an hour you'll be serving up delicious, moist and tender Barbecue Pork Ribs. How to Cook Great Ribs in the Oven

03:11
On this episode of Bachelor on a Budget I show you how to cook ribs in the oven. This Oven Baked Ribs recipe is amazingly tasty and the best I've made. They're slow cooked to perfection and taste as if they've been smoked or slow cooked on the BBQ. Subscribe for healthy recipes, tips and more: https://youtube.com/marlondoll?sub_confirmation=1 You can see in the end that very little bone is sticking out which means little protein loss, and more flavourful ribs. Recipe: Two Large Racks of Ribs 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar 1 Teaspoon of Salt 1 Teaspoon of Pepper 1 Tablespoon Paprika 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder A few drops of liquid smoke (Less is More) 2 Cups of BBQ Sauce Preheat the oven to 300 Degrees. Start by removing the the excess fat by cutting it off and removing the membrane. To do this, take the blunt end of a knife and get under the membrane at one side. Once you got a bit of loose membrane, use a paper towel to peel it off. Make the Rub by mixing all spices in a bowl with liquid smoke. Rubs those ribs down, and get into all those crevices. Wrap the ribs in tin foil on the bottom and top, and throw in the oven for 2 hrs and 15 minutes. Take the ribs out and apply your favourite bbq sauce to both sides of the ribs. I added honey to my BBQ sauce. Put back in oven and Broil for 10-15 minutes watching that it doesn't burn. Make a huge salad to go with. Enjoy. Competition Rib Recipe from Pitmaster Heath Riles

14:53
For more barbecue and grilling recipes visit: http://howtobbqright.com/ #HowToBBQRight #CompetitionRibs #BBQrecipes Pit Master Heath Riles stopped by for this video to show me his secrets to winning rib competitions. Heath has won the Rib Team of the year in the Memphis BBQ Network for the past 4 years; (He’s well on his way to locking up a fifth title) so he knows a little something about cooking ribs. I’m thankful he’s willing to share his technique with us. Heath cooks Heritage Farms Cheshire Pork in bbq competitions. This meat is known for its’ superior marbling and flavor. The ribs are given a quick trim to remove and excess fat or sinew and he pulls the membrane off the back. For KCBS contest Heath cooks 4-6 slabs of St. Louis cut ribs and for MBN contests he cooks 12 slabs of the loin back ribs which are a Memphis staple. The ribs get a light coat of yellow mustard; then a generous layer of his Jalapeño Garlic seasoning; followed by medium layers of his signature Pecan and Honey Rubs. The same process is repeated on both sides, and he seasons the ribs about 20 minutes prior to going on the pit. For this cook Heath used my Trager grill running at 275⁰ with a mixture of Hickory and Cherry pellets for smoke flavor. The ribs go on the grill for about 2- 2 ½ hours or until the rub adheres to the meat and then they’re wrapped. In the wrap apply a light layer of Honey rub and lay the slab meat side down. Add a touch more Honey rub to the back side and ¾ cup of Heath’s Butter Bath mixture (it’s a powdered form of Brown Sugar, Butter, Honey, and other spices mixed with apple juice). Be sure to double wrap the ribs so the bones don’t poke through the foil. The ribs go back on the pit for an hour to tenderize and Heath pulls them off the pit when the internal temperature reaches 204 - 208⁰. He carefully takes the each slab out of the foil wrap and dust the back side with his Sweet Rub and light glaze (1 cup Sweet BBQ Sauce & ½ cup Tangy Vinegar). Then repeats the same process on the meat side. The ribs go back on the pit for 15-20 minutes to set the glaze and then it’s time to serve them to the judges. These ribs had a beautiful appearance and perfect texture, but the best part was the flavor. The rub combination and tangy sweet glaze brought out the richness in the Cheshire Pork. I see why Heath is a rib champion! For Killer Hogs BBQ Sauce, Rub and Competition BBQ equipment, visit: https://h2qshop.com/

Ultimate Meat Smoking Guide Free Giveaway - promos.mycavetools.com/smokeguide - Limited Time Promotion ** Save on all Cave Tools products using the coupon code on this page https://www.amazon.com/cavetools http://www.cavetools.com Grilling can be a bit intimidating, but with a few tips, you can make this recipe your outdoor grilling success. These sticky and sweet BBQ pork ribs will have everyone licking their fingers and asking for more. Get more grilling and smoking tips and tricks from: http://www.cavetools.com When you get a rack of ribs, you'll notice that there's a membrane on the back of the slab. "The membrane keeps the moisture in the ribs," he says. "If you have it removed, the moisture will drip right down." Before cooking, rub the ribs all over with prepared yellow mustard (such as French's), then apply a spice rub (you can find these at the grocery store, but it's easy to make your own, which allows you to customize it to your own tastes.) The mustard helps the rub adhere to the ribs, and it tenderizes the meat, explains Browne. If you're not a fan of mustard, not to worry -- Browne say you won't be able to taste it. Let this mustard-rub mixture sit on the ribs (in the refrigerator) from an hour to 24 hours to allow the flavor to infuse into the meat. When you're ready to barbecue the ribs, place the rack meat side down on over direct heat for 10 to 15 minutes, then continue to cook over low, indirect heat -- in a smoker, if you have one -- for anywhere from another hour to as many as eight hours, depending on the size of the ribs and what your specific recipe calls for (barbecue aficionados tend to agree that "low and slow" is the way to go with ribs, but they have little consensus about just how low and how slow). Whatever you do, don't put on any barbecue sauce until the last 10 to 15 minutes of cooking (some schools of barbecue thought suggest not putting barbecue sauce on at all). Any earlier, and you'll have black ribs and they won't be done inside. We recommend cooking pork ribs to an internal temperature of 145°, but since a thermometer is a bit tough to use with small ribs, look out for these visual cues: The ribs are done when the meat begins to pull away from the bone by about a half inch to an inch; or, if you pick up a slab of ribs with tongs, the slab should bend somewhat, but the meat should not begin to fall apart. To serve, slice the rack into individual portions, cutting between the bones. Offer more barbecue sauce on the side, if you'd like. Asian cuisine styles can be broken down into several tiny regional styles that have rooted the peoples and cultures of those regions. The major types can be roughly defined as East Asian with its origins in Imperial China and now encompassing modern Japan and the Korean peninsula; Southeast Asian which encompasses Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Viet Nam, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines; South Asian states that are made up of India, Burma, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan as well as several other countries in this region of the continent; Central Asian and Middle Eastern. "Asian cuisine" most often refers to East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean), Southeast Asian cuisine and South Asian cuisine. In much of Asia, the term does not include the country's native cuisines. For example, in Hong Kong and mainland China, Asian cuisine is a general umbrella term for Japanese cuisine, Korean cuisine, Filipino cuisine, Thai cuisine, Vietnamese cuisine, Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine and Indonesian cuisine; but Chinese cuisine and Indian cuisine are excluded. The term Asian cuisine might also be used to address the eating establishments that offer wide array of Asian dishes without rigid cuisine boundaries; such as selling satay, gyoza or lumpia for appetizer, som tam, rojak or gado-gado for salad, offering chicken teriyaki, nasi goreng or beef rendang as main course, tom yam and laksa as soup, and cendol or ogura ice for dessert. In modern fusion cuisine, the term Asian cuisine might refer to the culinary exploration of cross-cultural Asian cuisine traditions. For example combining the culinary elements of Vietnam and Japanese, Thai and Malay, or Indonesian and Chinese. Japanese cuisine is the food—ingredients, preparation and way of eating—of Japan. The traditional food of Japan is based on rice with miso soup and other dishes, each in its own utensil, with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients. The side dishes often consist of fish, pickled vegetables, and vegetables cooked in broth. Fish is common in the traditional cuisine. It is often grilled. Fish may be served raw as sashimi or in sushi. Seafood and vegetables are also deep-fried in a light batter as tempura. Apart from rice, staples include noodles, such as soba and udon. Japan has many simmered dishes such as fish products in broth called oden, or beef in sukiyaki and nikujaga. Foreign food, in particular Chinese food in the form of noodles in soup called ramen and fried dumplings, gyoza, and western food such as curry and hamburger steaks are commonly found in Japan. Historically, the Japanese shunned meat, but with the modernization of Japan in the 1860s, meat-based dishes such as tonkatsu became common. Chinese cuisine includes styles originating from the diverse regions of China, plus styles of Chinese people in other parts of the world. The history of Chinese cuisine in China stretches back for thousands of years and has changed from period to period and in each region according to climate, imperial fashions, and local preferences. Over time, techniques and ingredients from the cuisines of other cultures were integrated into the cuisine of the Chinese peoples due both to imperial expansion and from the trade with nearby regions in pre-modern times as well as from Europe and the New World in the modern period. Styles and tastes also varied by class, region, and ethnic background. This led to an unparallelled range of ingredients, techniques, dishes and eating styles in what could be called Chinese food, leading Chinese to pride themselves on eating a wide variety of foods while remaining true to the spirit and traditions of Chinese food culture. Thai cuisine is the national cuisine of Thailand. Blending elements of several Southeast Asian traditions, Thai cooking places emphasis on lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic components. The spiciness of Thai cuisine is well known. As with other Asian cuisines, balance, detail and variety are of great significance to Thai chefs. Thai food is known for its balance of three to four fundamental taste senses in each dish or the overall meal: sour, sweet, salty, and bitter. japanese food, asian recipes, tempura, sushi, korean cuisine, chinese recipes, filipino cooking, thai food, tom yum, satay, nasi goring, malaysian food, singaporean recipes, vietnamese cooking, indonesian recipes, tofu dishes, coconut curry, pork ribs, crispy duck, pak choi, ramen, dumplings, fried rice, seafood,

Welcome to my cooking channel (food channel)! In this video I'm going to show you how to make Chinese Style BBQ Ribs! One of my favorite way to rib, so delicious!! I boiled it instead baking. And it is juicy and super tender!! As you can see in the video, it's falling out from the bones. Boiling is more Asian cooking technique than baking. We still consider to use stove more than oven. Even though oven is very popular now days in Asia but not every house has an oven in there house. And if you boil the meat, you don't have to worry about the meat will get dry out! Guaranty that you will have juicy meat! But, the flavor wise, you might need to concern.. So you need to add lots of flavor into the water, so the meat will absolve all the flavor you put in! Chinese Style BBQ Ribs 1 rack of ribs 7 to 8 cups water 1 whole garlic, halves 1/2 inch ginger 1/2 onion 2 green onion 1/2 cup sake (rice wine) 1/4 cup soy sauce 1 teaspoon black pepper corns 2 bay leaves 1 small carrot, halves Combine all ingredients in a large pot, cover with a lid, bring to boil over medium high heat. Reduce heat to medium, cook for 1 hour and 30 minutes. When the ribs are almost ready, start make the BBQ sauce! 1 Tablespoon hoisin sauce 1 Tablespoon oyster sauce 2 teaspoons soy sauce 1 teaspoon sriracha 1 Tablespoon white vinegar 1/3 cup honey Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Whisk until mixed well together. After my ribs and sauce were ready, I just gave to my husband so he can start grill'em! Just lay the ribs on a hot grill and keep brushing the sauce until the sauce's gone, it looks shiny and nice chard. And you are done! How easy was that?! :-) I hope you guys enjoy!!!

Competition Rib Recipe | Smoking Competition Ribs for Competition BBQ Contests

13:15
Competition Rib Recipe | BBQ Competition Rib Recipe For more barbecue and grilling recipes visit: http://howtobbqright.com/ In KCBS BBQ Competition contests we cook St. Louis cut Spare Ribs. I look for a well marbled rib with good weight - 2.75lbs and up. This size rib has plenty of meat on the bones for the judges, so they can get a good bite. My process starts with trimming the ribs. I square up each rack by removing the end bones and taking any excess meat off the rib tip area. Each slab needs to be close to the same size in order to cook at the same rate. Remove the sinew membrane from the back side the ribs and trim away any thick deposits of fat from both sides. For comp ribs I want a savory layer of seasoning with a touch of heat but you also need a sweet layer to balance it out. I use both my Killer Hogs Hot Rub and Killer Hogs The BBQ Rub. This combo is hard to beat and gives the ribs an amazing color as they cook. Layer on a very light coat of mustard on each slab and sprinkle the rubs on both sides. Let them hang out at room temp while the smoker comes up to temperature. Just about any type of pit can be used to cook competition ribs. For this cook I’m firing up my Gateway Drum with Royal Oak Lump charcoal. The target smoking temperature is 250⁰. Once the smoker stabilizes add a chunk each of Cherry and Hickory Grillewood for smoke flavor. Place the ribs on the cooking grate and make sure they’re lying straight on the rack. The way you set them in place is the shape they will cook. Smoke for 2 hours and spritz with a 50:50 mixture of apple juice and water as needed (about every 30 minutes). The ribs will start to develop a bark on the outside as the rubs caramelize and this is the point where you want to get them wrapped. Tear off a sheet of aluminum foil long enough to cover the ribs. On the foil layer a few lines of Parkay squeeze margarine, ¼ cup brown sugar, and 1 Tablespoon of honey. Place the ribs meat down in this mixture. At this point check the backside of the ribs and remove anything that could give the judges a bad taste – little bits of rendered fat or meat. Now they need a little spice and acidity in the wrap so drizzle ¼ cup of Killer Hogs The Vinegar Sauce down the middle of the slab. Close the aluminum foil around the ribs and place them back on the smoker to tenderize. It takes about 1 – 1 ½ hours in the wrap but be sure to check them after 1 hour. When you see the larger bones exposed on the back it’s a tell-tell sign that the ribs are tender. As you lift the slabs you can feel them bend in between the bones almost to the point of breaking. You have to be careful here when handling them or the slab could tear. Let the ribs hang out for 30 minutes on the counter to rest in the foil. At this point I fold another sheet of aluminum foil into a boat shape to transfer the ribs back to the smoker for a quick glaze. Carefully transfer each rack to the foil boats and brush on a light coat of glaze. The glaze is a mixture of ¾ cup Killer Hogs The BBQ Sauce mixed with ¼ cup Killer Hogs The Vinegar Sauce. Warm the sauce slightly and brush it on the meat side of the ribs. Place each rack back on the pit and set the glaze for 15 minutes. Now the ribs are ready to cut into judging portions. Place each rack meat side down on the cutting board and use a long bladed, sharp knife to precisely cut in between each bone. *a good knife is key here. Once all of the ribs are cut, apply a little glaze to the cut side of each piece and select the best bones for the turn in box. How to Make Grilled Ribs

02:43
Watch more Grilling Recipes videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/188568-How-to-Make-Grilled-Ribs What's better than ribs? Ribs that you cook on an outdoor grill. Step 1: Choose your ribs Decide if you want beef, pork, or lamb ribs. Then choose a cut: The meatiest pork ribs are spareribs, which are larger but less tender than baby back ribs. As for beef, short ribs are usually less expensive than pork ribs. Lamb ribs are often sold as Denver ribs and come from the lamb's breast and belly. Step 2: Remove the membranes Rinse the meat, pat it dry with paper towels, and pull off the silvery membrane – also known as silverskin – with your hands. Step 3: Prepare a rub Mix together whatever combination of dry seasonings you like and rub a generous amount of it into the meat with your hands, or use a prepared rub from the market. Then wrap the ribs in plastic and refrigerate them for at least two hours so the rub has time to penetrate the meat. Tip Instead of using a dry rub, you can also marinate the meat overnight. Step 4: Let the ribs stand Take the ribs from the fridge, unwrap them, and let them stand for about 20 minutes before putting them on the grill. Step 5: Fire up the grill Get the grill ready. Ribs should cook slowly, bone-side down, over low, indirect heat. For a gas grill, preheat on high for 20 minutes, then turn off the middle burners and set the others to low. For charcoal, wait until the coals begin to turn gray and then push them into two piles on either side of the basin and cook the ribs on the center of the grate. Tip For wood-smoked ribs, soak a handful of wood chips in water for 30 minutes to an hour. Then, sprinkle them on top of the coals or put them in your grill's smoker box after the first half-hour of cooking. Step 6: Cook Let the ribs cook, covered with the vents open, one to two hours for gas grills and two to three hours for charcoal. You'll know they're almost done when the meat begins to separate from the bone. At that point, brush them with barbecue sauce if you like; don't do it earlier or the sugar in the sauce will burn. Tip Test for doneness by cutting off one rib; if it's whitish-pink in color and juicy, the meat is done. Step 7: Let them rest Remove the ribs from the grill, place them on a platter, cover it with foil, and let them rest for 10 minutes before serving. Put out a barbecue sauce for dipping – and lots of napkins! Did You Know? In 1986 a Florida man set a Guinness Record for holding the largest beef barbecue, serving 50,000 people in one weekend.

Hawaiian Style Pork Ribs BBQ Recipe

I trimmed a pack of pork spare ribs to the St. Louis style ribs, and marinated the ribs in a Fiesta rib rub, and light brown sugar for almost 24 hours. Got my grilled ready, and rubbed the ribs down with yellow mustard just prior to going on the grill. I added a pot of water to the grill to keep the air inside the grill moist as to help keep the ribs moist and not dry. I cooked the ribs right at 3 hours on indirect heat uncovered, then I layed them on two layers of foil and and poured in pineapple juice and added the chunked pineapple, and also used a orange, pineapple, and apple drink made by Welch's. Wrapped tightly and cooked almost 2 hours, and then removed the ribs from the foil, and reserved the pineapple and some juice. I then coated the ribs with the Hawaiian BBQ sauce, and let cook for 1 more hour, still on indirect heat. In the first 3 hours, and the last hour, I would turn and flip the ribs occasionally for a even cook on them. These ribs are delicious! Give them a try. Fall Off the Bone Ribs Recipe – Easy to Prepare Baby Back or St Louis Style BBQ

04:27
Everybody loves ribs! I certainly do and I was always wondering how people made tender ribs that fall off the bone! Well I discovered the method that works every time so keep watching and you’ll be able to do it too! Today I’m using baby back ribs but this works well with St. Louis style ribs which are meatier! I always do two racks at a time but you can do more if you want. I usually get them when its buy one get one free during major holidays. Once the ribs are out of the package, I have to remove the membrane on the back of the slab. Take a knife and start to pull up the membrane on one corner. Once you get a corner separated from the meat, you can start pulling it up. Sometimes it’s really easy to remove and other times it’s a bit tougher. It helps to use the knife to slice along the membrane when it gets stuck. Removing the membrane helps the ribs separate easier and you don’t have this chewy layer to eat when they’re served. I’ll just repeat this with the 2nd rack and they’ll be ready to be seasoned. The seasoning is pretty simple, I use salt, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper. I never measure the seasoning, I just sprinkle a decent amount on both sides of the ribs. Then I give them a quick rub to get it to stick. Now line a large casserole dish with tin foil on the bottom. The ribs won’t fit in the dish so I cut them in half right down the middle. They’re now all sized to fit in the dish. Cover the dish with another sheet of tin foil and seal around the top. You can bake this now or I like to put the ribs in the fridge for about 2 to 4 hours to marinate. When you’re ready to bake, preheat the oven to 300 degrees. When the oven has reached temperature, place the dish on the middle rack and bake for 2 and a half to 3 hours. Three hours is actually better! When the ribs are baking, the whole house smells delicious! When the timer goes off, the ribs are ready to come out. At this time, they are super tender and ready to fall off the bone! However, we’re not done yet but you could eat them right now. But let’s make them better! You I’m going to move the ribs to a large dish and get ready for the final step. For this you’ll need your favorite barbeque sauce because we’re taking these ribs to the grill! Place the ribs on a heated grill and start brushing on the barbeque sauce and you can already see that the ribs are starting to look good! Make sure to brush both sides and cover everything with the sauce. Now would be a great time to grab your favorite drink and hang out by the grill for a bit. Flip the ribs a few times until the barbeque sauce is good and caramelized. Once you get so nice charring on the ribs they’re ready to serve! Back in the kitchen, slice between the rib bones and transfer to a serving dish. Believe me, this is a recipe is sure to please everyone! I make these all the time now and it gets easier every time! Kansas City Spare Ribs | How to smoke Kansas City Style Spare Ribs Malcom Reed HowToBBQRight

For more how-to recipes visit: http://howtobbqright.com/ For Killer Hogs BBQ Sauce, Rub and Competition BBQ equipment, visit: http://howtobbqright.com/bbqshop/ Kansas City Spare Ribs Recipe The ribs you find in Kansas City are Spare Ribs. And Kansas City Spares are always finished with a sweet, tomato sauce. So today we are smoking a traditional Kansas City Spare Rib. This recipe is pretty simple because all we are going to use is Spare Ribs, hickory wood, 2 Kansas City dry rubs and a sweet tomato-based sauce to finish them. I like to remove the membrane from my spare ribs, but that is a personal decision. You can leave the membrane on if you like. The first step is to season the spare ribs with a good Kansas city style dry rub. I am using a 2-part dry rub with Smoking Guns Sweet Heat and Smoking Guns Hot. For Smoking Guns Rubs, visit: http://howtobbqright.com/bbqshop/ Once I’ve got my spare ribs rubbed, I let the rub sit on the ribs for about 4 hours. This allows the flavors to start penetrating the meat and start pulling some moisture out. It will make for a really tacky, pretty rib. But you need to put your ribs back in the fridge or in a cooler during this time. After the spare ribs have set for 3.5 hours, it’s time to fire up your smoker and pull your ribs out so they can come up to room temperature. Once your smoker has stabilized and your spare ribs are at room temp, it’s time to start smoking these Kansas city spare ribs. I like to smoke my Kansas City-style Spare ribs at 250 degrees. I use a charcoal base to provide my heat source and then I throw in a couple pieces of hickory wood to give me that light, blue smoke I’m shooting for. I’m not going to wrap these spare ribs, but I am going to spritz the spare ribs with apple juice to keep them moist during the cooking process. After the ribs have smoked for about 1.5 hours – and they’ve started to develop a pretty, mahogany color - I spritz them with straight apple juice, and then I spritz them again every 45 minutes to 1 hour after that. The total cook time on these ribs is about 4.5 hours. When they’ve gotten almost done, I pull them off and apply a thin glaze of sauce. For these ribs I used Butcher’s BBQ Sweet Sauce. For Butcher’s BBQ Sweet Sauce, visit: http://howtobbqright.com/bbqshop/ I put the sauced Kansas city ribs back on the smoker and allow the sauce to set for another 15 minutes. After this glaze time your Kansas City Ribs should be perfectly tender and ready to eat.
