Communication vs Branding

01:57
Communication and branding are two integral parts of medical practice marketing. But what’s the difference between the two? Branding refers to the symbols, designs, logos, colors, and language you use to differentiate your medical practice from the competition. Good branding is seamless across multiple platforms. A patient receiving a direct mailed postcard should have the same experience of your brand as a patient clicking on your website. This means using the same branded components everywhere – from the walls of your office to the wall of your Facebook page. It also means creating a very specific experience for the patient. Is your practice warm and friendly, cutting edge and modern, or down-to-earth and efficient? Your logo, slogan, and marketing materials should reflect and create this type of branded experience. Communication, on the other hand, refers to the manner in which you promote your brand in the world. nce you have a firmly established brand, you’re ready to communicate your brand’s promise to your target market, or your patients. The way in which you communicate says a lot about your brand. Some practices will communicate most effectively through traditional advertising in trade publications or on television, while others will have success communicating online. The way in which you communicate, and what message you choose to communicate, will be determined by your patient demographics. Taking the time to develop a strong branding and communications platform based on your patient’s needs will make your medical practice much more memorable, cultivate patient loyalty, and help you stand out from the crowd. What does GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION mean? GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION meaning - GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION definition - GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license Graphic communication as the name suggests is communication using graphic elements. These elements include symbols such as glyphs and icons, images such as drawings and photographs, and can include the passive contributions of substrate, color and surroundings. It is the process of creating, producing, and distributing material incorporating words and images to convey data, concepts, and emotions. The field of graphic communications encompasses all phases of the graphic communications processes from origination of the idea (design, layout, and typography) through reproduction, finishing and distribution of two- or three-dimensional products or electronic transmission. Graphic communication involves the use of visual material to relate ideas such as drawings, photographs, slides, and sketches. The drawings of plans and refinements and a rough map sketched to show the way could be considered graphical communication. Any medium that uses a graphics to aid in conveying a message, instruction, or an idea is involved in graphical communication. One of the most widely used forms of graphical communication is the drawing. The earliest graphics known to anthropologists studying prehistoric periods are cave paintings and markings on boulders, bone, ivory, and antlers, which were created during the Upper Paleolithic period from 40,000–10,000 B.C. or earlier. Many of these played a major role in geometry. They used graphics to represent their mathematical theories such as the Circle Theorem and the Pythagorean theorem. Graphics are visual presentations on some surface, such as a wall, canvas, computer screen, paper, or stone to brand, inform, illustrate, or entertain. Examples are photographs, drawings, Line Art, graphs, diagrams, typography, numbers, symbols, geometric designs, maps, engineering drawings, or other images. Graphics often combine text, illustration, and color. Graphic design may consist of the deliberate selection, creation, or arrangement of typography alone, as in a brochure, flier, poster, web site, or book without any other element. Clarity or effective communication may be the objective, association with other cultural elements may be sought, or merely, the creation of a distinctive style. Graphics can be functional or artistic. The latter can be a recorded version, such as a photograph, or an interpretation by a scientist to highlight essential features, or an artist, in which case the distinction with imaginary graphics may become blurred. Communication is the process whereby information is imparted by a sender to a receiver via a medium. It requires that all parties have an area of communicative commonality. There are auditory means, such as speaking, singing and sometimes tone of voice, and nonverbal, physical means, such as body language, sign language, paralanguage, touch, eye contact, by using writing. Communication is defined as a process by which we assign and convey meaning in an attempt to create shared understanding. This process requires a vast repertoire of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing, listening, observing, speaking, questioning, analyzing, and evaluating. if you use these processes it is developmental and transfers to all areas of life: home, school, community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that collaboration and cooperation occur.

Crash Branding--Brand Communication In a Crisis

02:49
When a Continental Airlines jet caught fire and skidded off a Denver runway in November 2008 and USAirways jet landed in New York's Hudson River in January, 2009, they demonstrated a new challenge facing a brand crisis. Twitter and Facebook have changed the game. Gone are the days when corporate execs could huddle and practice careful crisis management, take their time and control the message. In our world of always connected, always on communication, brand communication has to be immediate and consistently authentic, no matter what the circumstances.

Can you measure brand communication performance?

02:28
When it comes to any type of communication, digital or otherwise, measurement and evaluation has always been a thorny issue. Stephen Sandmann, Senior SEO Strategist at digital agency Quirk, says that progress has been made with regards to establishing a global framework and best practices. “The major Public Relations authorities across the world recently held a series of meetings to discuss an international framework for gauging and measuring communication performance,” he explains. The latest meeting produced the Barcelona Principles 2.0, which Sandmann says ‘really gives us international validation’ for a new type of Digital Marketing which is currently being rolled out to clients. “They emphasised that it’s not about Advertising Value Equivalents (AVEs) anymore, it’s all about having measurable performance and integration,” he says. “That’s where key elements such as website engagement, social media engagement, conversations, etc., come into play…and the ability to combine that into a standalone digital ecosystem. This is what is being encouraged as the future of global practice.” What’s unique about the approach to measurement at Quirk, notes Sandmann, is that the agency feeds in information and data from BrandsEye, an ORM tool. “We use this tool to scan the Internet - from websites and blogs to social media - to gather intelligence around what consumers are saying,” he explains. “We segment that data, and then feed it into our digital ecosystem. We can then communicate effectively with our target market, and achieve high engagement rates with very little wastage.” He notes that this information can then be fed into systems for above-the-line communication as well, ‘so that marketing messages are on point.’

What is COMMUNICATION AUDIT? What does COMMUNICATION AUDIT mean? COMMUNICATION AUDIT meaning

What is COMMUNICATION AUDIT? What does COMMUNICATION AUDIT mean? COMMUNICATION AUDIT meaning - COMMUNICATION AUDIT definition - COMMUNICATION AUDIT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ A communications audit is a comprehensive evaluation of an organization’s ability to send, receive and share information with various audiences within the organization (and as organizations become flatter to allow groups within the organization to cooperate and share among themselves), as well at key constituencies outside, such as customers and investors, in the case of publicly traded companies. This type of audit can be performed to evaluate an organization's external or internal communication effectiveness. The purpose of a communications audit is to uncover the strengths and weaknesses between management, typically, and employees, customers and other groups such as investors, the news media, and regulators and legislative bodies with the objective to improve future communications by developing a strategic plan, through a series of recommendations, and to determine where gaps exists which need to be bridged. A communications audit may be undertaken by corporate communications team or by outside consultants who are retained by management to assess the company’s communications effectiveness in accordance with the business objectives, compare the company vs. competitors, and identify target audience perceptions and motivators. The resulting strategic positioning and corresponding communications plan is focused on achieving strategic communications objectives – whether they be to achieve brand recognition, modify perceptions, maximize sales, encourage community support or establish leadership. If an outside auditor is retained, the auditor may include an evaluation of the corporate communications staff and the activities of the corporate communications department with recommendations to management designed to streamline departmental communications and inter-company communications effectiveness.

‘Intelligent’ communication’ VS treating customers like Data Sets

03:37
Scott Cundill, Founder of Majestic3.com, explains that ‘Customer Relationship Management’ is most often defined by the average person as great communication between the brand and customer. Companies, on the other hand, define CRM as the effective management of customer data - often times missing the importance of effective communication between themselves and their customers - a big problem according to Cundill. Communication which is driven by data, is often of poor quality – this is due to the fact that first, there is an excess of data available, and second, this data is often of poor quality itself. “Customer Relationship Management should be built around great communication. The output of great communication is great customer data. So let communication drive customer data and not the other way around,” says Cundill. What ‘intelligent’ communication means for the consumer… By adopting the principles of ‘intelligent communication’, brands will hold off on the ‘sales pushy content’ and instead begin embracing what Cundill calls ‘a culture of content’. “This means that everybody’s role within the organisation, is to look for ways in which great content can be used to communicate to the end customer.” As a result, communication strategies have to change; customer-brand communication will become focused on building relationships, as opposed to simply forcing products on consumers. “Intelligent communication” is vital for B2B communications, high quality data and POPI compliance… ‘Intelligent communication’ is all-important for B2B organisations. This is because, in business, success relies heavily on creating relationships with other businesses; “…building authentic relationships with individuals within corporations is absolutely paramount,” explains Cundill. He believes that it is ridiculous that businesses seem to be trying to sneakily obtain data, for example, by following consumers around social media, and picking up snippets of data where they can. Data can be obtained by simply asking your consumers – and if consumers are unwilling to answer, it means that you need to work on developing that relationship, “…until it is strong enough that they will voluntarily give you that information.” High quality communication results in high quality data, which lends itself to higher quality communication and the resultant positive communication spiral that ensues. Another benefit of enforcing the principles of ’intelligent communication’ is that it will help organisations with their POPI compliance. This is because POPI regulations are put in place to protect consumer data, and that most problems with POPI compliance come from consumer complaints, therefore if consumers do not complain, companies have very little to worry about in terms of POPI compliance. Cundill concludes, “…first be a teacher, second be an expert and third be a salesman. If we can stop becoming salesmen and start becoming teachers, and start using our expertise in the industry to get out great content, the information will come. The relationships will bring data and the data will then bring the sales.”

What is COMMUNICATION DESIGN? What does COMMUNICATION DESIGN mean? COMMUNICATION DESIGN meaning

03:58
What is COMMUNICATION DESIGN? What does COMMUNICATION DESIGN mean? COMMUNICATION DESIGN meaning - COMMUNICATION DESIGN definition - COMMUNICATION DESIGN explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Communication Design is a mixed discipline between design and information-development which is concerned with how media intervention such as printed, crafted, electronic media or presentations communicate with people. A communication design approach is not only concerned with developing the message aside from the aesthetics in media, but also with creating new media channels to ensure the message reaches the target audience. Some designers use graphic design and communication design interchangeably due to overlapping skills. Communication design can also refer to a systems-based approach, in which the totality of media and messages within a culture or organization are designed as a single integrated process rather than a series of discrete efforts. This is done through communication channels that aim to inform and attract the attention of the people you are focusing your skills on. Design skills must be tailored to fit to different cultures of people, while maintaining pleasurable visual design. These are all important pieces of information to add to a media communications kit to get the best results. Communication design seeks to attract, inspire, create desires and motivate the people to respond to messages, with a view to making a favorable impact to the bottom line of the commissioning body, which can be either to build a brand, move sales, or for humanitarian purposes. Its process involves strategic business thinking, using market research, creativity, and problem-solving. Communications designers translate ideas and information through a variety of media. Their particular talent lies not only in the traditional skills of the hand, but also in their ability to think strategically in design and marketing terms, in order to establish credibility through the communication. The term communication design is often used interchangeably with visual communication, but has an alternative broader meaning that includes auditory, vocal, touch and smell. Examples of communication design include information architecture, editing, typography, illustration, web design, animation, advertising, ambient media, visual identity design, performing arts, copywriting and professional writing skills applied in the creative industries. Students of communication design learn how to create visual messages and broadcast them to the world in new and meaningful ways. In the complex digital environment around us, communication design has become a powerful means of reaching out to the target audience. Students learn how to combine communication with art and technology. Communication Design discipline involves teaching how to design web pages, video games, animation, motion graphics and more. Communication Design has content as its main purpose. It must achieve a reaction, or get customer to see a product in a genuine way to attract sales or get across a message. Students of Communications Design are often Illustrators, Graphic Designers, Web designers, Advertising artists, Animators, Video Editors or Motion graphic artists, or even printmakers and conceptual artists. The term Communications Design is fairly general and practitioners work in various mediums to get a message across.
