"This video is for educational purposes" !Quick example of the beauty we can find in those BBC-Earth new documentaries. The amazing little puffer fish capable of creating elaborately designed 'crop circles' at the bottom of the ocean as part of an elaborate mating ritual. The behavior was first documented by a photographer named Yoji Ookata who later returned with a film crew from the Japanese nature show NHK which later aired an episode about the fish. Even as articles bounced around the web it was still difficult to imagine how a tiny fish could create such a large design in the sand, even when staring directly at photographic evidence. Finally, video has emerged that shows just how the little guy delicately traverses the sand in a rotating criss-cross pattern to create a sort of subaquatic spirograph. The textured sand sculpture not only attracts mates but also serves as protection when the fish pair and lays eggs.

From strange-looking sea creatures that look like funnels to underwater plane wrecks that serve as a playground for the fishes. Subscribe for new videos weekly! 7. A New Pufferfish Researchers have managed to recently figure out the answer to a 20-year-old mystery under the ocean while discovering a new fish. There were these intricate circles with geometric designs that were being created and no one had any logical reason as to how these designs were being made. These “underwater” crop circles are located on the seafloor by the coast of Amami-Ōshima Island. Turns out the circles aren’t actually circles, but really they’re nests with double edges that are made by this new species of pufferfish as a way to protect their eggs from harsh ocean currents and maybe even predators as well. The males are the ones who construct the nest by swimming and wriggling back and forth in the sand in order to attract a female during mating season. Yoji Okata was the first to witness this and soon after a team of ichthyologists went out on an expedition along with a tv crew to capture the whole thing on film. 6. A New Sea Slug This new species of sea slug was discovered last year near the Japanese Islands and measures in at about an inch long, give or take. The slug is considered as a “missing link” between sea slugs that feast on hydroids and those that happen to feed on corals. The photogenic gastropod’s elegant lines and beautifully bright coloration make them wondrous beauties of the deep. The newly identified slug which when photographed is captured in shades of blue, red and gold, also helps in having a better knowledge of the dawning of an unusual symbiosis in other species in the same genus. Relatives of the sea slugs have multi-branched guts in which algae called zooxanthellae reside. The algae have a symbiotic relationship with the coral that the sea slug eats and once ingested, the algae then begin to create essential nutrients for its host, the sea slug. 5. An Underwater Playground What was once a transporter airplane that flew the skies during the second World War, now lies at the bottom of the ocean as a relic. But that is just how we see it. The skeleton of the airplane has merged with the ocean’s delicate ecosystem and now serves as a home to tropical fish, shrimps, and other types of sea creatures. The Douglas Dakota DC-3 was once used by the Turkish and was deliberately sent to the bottom of the ocean at 21 meters way back in July of 2009 in order to create a sort of “underwater playground” for divers from all over. An underwater photographer named Andrey Nekrasov dived down to the wreckage with a group of other divers and stated that the plane was “unusual and beautiful” and “being in great condition”. Many of the divers had trouble reaching the airplane and it took them various tries to reach it. They needed to resurface for air every 2 minutes. 3. A Deep Sea “Graveyard” Between the years of 2008 and 2010, there were four large carcasses of marine creatures discovered on the ocean floor. These large animals were later identified as being the bodies of 1 whale shark and three rays. Footage recorded from ROVs or remotely operated vehicles were able to show the interesting inner workings of how these decaying corpses of fallen animals can serve as complex ecosystems towards populations of smaller creatures and maybe even able to sustain them. They reported around 50 scavenging fish near each of the carcasses while also witnessing eelpouts waiting for smaller scavengers to come by and then consume them. 2. An Alien-like Jellyfish This other-worldly looking creature was discovered back in April of this year just near the Mariana Trench, that is located in between Japan and the Philippines deep within the Pacific Ocean, on the Enigma Seamount. The jellyfish was seen 2.3 miles just below the surface of the ocean by the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. It can be seen as having two sets of tentacles, one being much larger and the other being shorter. 1. The Ghost Octopus This interesting little octopod was discovered earlier this year back in March. The ghost octopus is believed to be the deepest dwelling octopod that doesn’t have any fins, unlike other species of deep dwelling octopods such as the “dumbo” octopus. The discovery of this new creature took place not too far off from where the Hawaiian archipelago is located. Pale in color due to the lack of pigment because it lives in the dark depths, the ghost octopus doesn’t show much muscle definition like other octopi, instead, it appears rather gelatinous in form. Not much else is known about these creatures as they’re still relatively new.

Hey guys! Oh look! I have green hair! :D (I know, it looks very teal on camera...) Read below for fun details and story time! C: For those of you who don't know, my last video (Periwinkle Fairy Makeup) was an experiment to see how well received it would be for me to create makeup designs based off original characters (of mine), while providing a little biography about them in the description. A lot of people seemed happy with the idea, so I decided I'd try a second look! This one is, obviously, based off the lovable yet frightening aquatic creatures -- mermaids! Mermaids were such a huge part of my childhood and are one of my all time favorite fantasy creatures. Now, sadly, this look is a bit incomplete and you'll have to use your imaginations a little to fill in the gaps. I unfortunately did not have any shell tops or mermaid tails lying around the house in which to complete the overall effect. And, in the absence of a large body of water or any equally scenic backdrops, this had to be filmed in my slightly less majestic living room. So, just pretend like all of these things don't exist and instead have been replaced by elements befitting an awesome mermaid! Ok, that's enough babbling. It's time to introduce the second member of our newly constructed fantasy world; Nepha! "Nepha is a salt-water mer who has made her home in the seaweed laden caves of the deep. She is of the genus "Icthus Unus", a species of mer known to be extremely reclusive and independent. Unlike some of their distant relatives who occupy coral reefs and warm tropical waters, these cave-dwelling mers do not travel in schools or pods. Nepha is also a treasure hunter. She enjoys collecting baubles and trinkets that fall from the surface down to the reaches of her home. She disdains sunlight and chooses to surface only during night time. She is omnivorous, and can survive on a diet of vegetation, plankton, small crustaceans such as krill, or even small fish. She is not classified as a siren, as Icthus Unus have never been known to display predatory behavior towards humans, are extremely reclusive and avoid interaction with most other species, and have irregular surfacing habits inconsistent with those of classified sirens." The design: My personal interpretations of mermaids lean towards much more natural and simple looks. I am not a fan of the extreme uses of color, shimmer/sparkles, and extreme eye makeup that are somewhat popular of mermaid looks right now. I do not believe these creatures would adhere to our beauty standards and rituals, so I tried to avoid heavy eye makeup and simply emphasize pre-existing features. I am, however, totally game for the concept of scales existing elsewhere on the mer's body, and wanted to incorporate this into my look. In doing so though, I wanted to try to achieve a design which made the scales appear much more realistic. I decided to try to blend the tones of Nepha's scale into the tones of her skin. I used a combination of sea green and brown to try to make the transition appear more natural. I also used a combination of body paint and eye shadow to create a set of gills on her neck for breathing. Edit: Look guys! Bronnie Rose Arnold from facebook drew a picture of Nepha! http://tinyurl.com/mpo97jm Products used: BH cosmetics Eyeshadow Wolfe Hydrocolors (brown and black) My hair was dyed with Manic Panic - Enchanted Forest (mixed with conditioner so it would cover my whole head xP). Music: Memories and Divine Ancestry by Adrian Von Ziegler Adrian is a fantastic independent artist from Switzerland with a big heart and a ton of talent. If you are interested in supporting him, check out his Youtube or Facebook below! https://www.youtube.com/user/adrianvonziegler https://www.facebook.com/AdrianvonZiegler You can download his music on iTunes, or at: http://adrianvonziegler.bandcamp.com/ Note: My tentacle earrings came from a seller named Hallder on Etsy. BUYER BEWARE! I personally would not recommend buying from this seller. My earrings were overpriced and cheaply made; they required a good deal of repair on my end in order for me to be able to wear them. If you like the look of the earrings, I'd recommend trying a different store instead. I'm hoping to try to buy another pair in the future from a different seller, and if they turn out, I'll edit this post and link working alternatives. c: Once again, feel free to leave feedback and tell me what you guys think! Also, if you have any suggestions or requests for a type of mythical/fantastical creature or concept you'd like me to try and recreate, feel free to leave me a note in the comments! As always, I hope you guys enjoyed. Thanks for watching, See you next video! ♥

Top 10 existing or conceptions of undersea homes, hotels, restaurants, resorts and science labs deep in the ocean or sea. Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg Subsix footage from: Dreaming of Maldives Description: When it comes to the oceanic experience, there is an entire world that we have yet to discover in the depths of the sea. Underwater civilizations are the subject of adventure and science fiction entertainment, and living a life among the fishes seems to be a life of fantasy and nothing more. But today, thanks to the innovations of engineering and a lot of money, architects and oceanic experts have found a way to build structures underwater. With the help of designers and engineering experts, we are one step closer to creating civilizations underwater. With the beauty of the ocean and marine life that much closer to being called home by the human race, there has been a lot of drafting, designing, and execution in the world of underwater living. Of course, it is more complicated than just building an underwater structure. As you go underwater, the pressure increases with each inch that you go below the depths of the surface. So these structures must be able to withstand the weight of the water around it. Also, humans cannot live underwater on their own, so these structures must find a way to pump oxygen into the space. Not to mention that these structures must be furnished and bring in food and necessities to live comfortably in a person’s time in the structure. Engineering wise, creating something that is habitable underwater can be a nightmare to execute, let alone design. Compromises to art and style have to be compromised for the sake of safety and human survival. Also, should there be any damages or leaks to the structures, how does one repair them without completely destroying the structure? While it is cool to think of underwater structures, the science and technology behind them is very complicated. Not to mention that underwater structures can be very vulnerable to attacks. Whether it is a sea creature that doesn’t like the hotel that is in its space, or someone on the other side of the glass is antagonizing a killer whale, we all know that these animals have the ability to break multiple layers of glass and cause some real damage. Not only that, but terrorists can also target these underwater structures. All it takes is a bomb or a bullet to completely submerge the structure in water. So, besides the building of the structure, safety precautions must be taken in order to ensure the survival of the structure. Underwater structures are coming in the form of restaurants, museums, and hotels. They are all awesome to think about. But again, the execution behind the building of the structures were complex and potentially the product of any engineer or architect’s nightmares. Something else that has to be taken into consideration is the longevity of the structure, and how long the building will last while dealing with wear and tear from interior and exterior use. But the end results are well worth the effort, and it makes the human race one step closer to completely taking over the earth. We start out with receiving a distres call from the Deep Ocean Tek Facility in HQ. Grab the nearest shuttle and fly straight towards it. There we find that only the dinos are left alive.... The Ocean Tek Facility consist of the above water landing, teleport and docking platforms, the mainhall with crafting facilities and yellyfish tank, the Tek Megalodon wing with views of the cave, the Cloning Facility with storage for several species, Terrarium Platform for research, Aquaponics Farming platform for food, Living, Leisure and Dining Quarters and on top the Mosa Tower. The base has it's own Eco ;) System caused by the extraction of moisture and oxygen from the salt water with Tek Water Converters located on the main tower and living quarters. This creates the perfect environment for all biomes and dinos to live in. The platforms hang in a statis field made possible by the No-Water-Stasis-Generators which causes the water to be pushed out and create a square stasis field underwater. What we now know about the dark depths is as remarkable as the unknowns that remain. This lecture examines some of these deep-sea discoveries. A lecture by Dr Jon Copley, University of Southampton 15 January 2019 https://www.gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and-events/dark-deep-ocean-planet We sometimes hear that ‘we know more about Mars than the deep ocean’, but is that true? Exploring the deep ocean is a recent enterprise, made possible by new technology in the past two centuries, but what we now know about the dark depths is as remarkable as the unknowns that remain. This lecture examines the deep-sea discoveries that have transformed our understanding of our planet, and the history of exploring the deep ocean that covers most of it. With the Jaeger-LeCoultre Tribute to Deep Sea, JLC of Le Sentier, Switzerland becomes the latest top-shelf watchmaker to issue a lovingly recreated modern iteration of a hallowed reference from its back catalog. Tribute watches run the gamut from loose interpretations (e.g., the 2007-present Blancpain Fifty Fathoms) to meticulous recreations that go so far as to reconstitute the flaws of the original (PAM00021, I’m looking at you). As with the 1959 original, the defining feature of the Tribute to Deep Sea is its unique diving alarm. By 1959, the eight-year-old JLC Memovox alarm wristwatch had become a signature of the company’s model line and the flagship of its mainstrean U.S. range. By integrating the Caliber 815 Memovox movement in to a large 39.5mm case, JLC created a highly visible underwater tool equipped with the ultimate fail-safe reminder to avoid out-diving one’s air supply. The Tribute to Deep Sea captures every detail of the original with startling fidelity. Right off the bat, JLC nails the Euro/US design dichotomy by issuing the Tribute in two distinct dial designs. Original Deep Sea Alarm watches were issued in two series with dramatically different dial designs for North American and Old World consumers. The JLC-signed European variant is considered to be the more elegant of the two, and its Tribute counterpart upholds this legacy. A simulated patina-look characterizes the luminova material on the watch face. Vintage watches lose their luminescent glow as radium or tritium ages, but the resulting browned “dirty dial” patina is both endearing and highly sought; collectors favor original faded dials with this effect. Ponder the Deep Sea while basking in its vintage vibe, and the experience is redolent of old National Geographic volumes complete with faded pastel-tone images of far-flung Bali, Pacific atolls, and Roman wrecks in the Med. That era may have been the last time the world seemed vast, endless, and mysterious to the popular imagination. Glance at the Tribute to Deep Sea for a moment, and you’re there. This Jaeger-LeCoultre Tribute to Deep Sea diving wrist alarm is available from thewatchbox.com with a full factory set. Provenance is impeccable thanks to original sales documents, factory instruction manuals, certificate of origin, box set, and unique accessories. The next owner of this watch will receive every article he would expect to collect with this watch at a Jaeger-LeCoultre factory boutique. And it will be a collectible in its own right; JLC issued only 959 Euro dials and 359 U.S. variants of the Tribute for a production total of 1,318. Exclusivity is assured. Video and content by Tim Mosso.

Named for the Ancient Greek god of the Underworld, the Hadal Zone is the pitch-black part of our oceans below 6,000 meters. Now, imagine a fleet of robots able to roam freely in the parts of the ocean that have been almost impossible for humans to reach, and bring back what they see: such as lifeforms that can survive with zero sunlight, very little nutrition, under pressure that could crush a car. OceanX's research vessel #Alucia took engineers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to test a brand-new prototype that will one day explore these remote, unforgiving parts of our planet, and eventually, oceans throughout our solar system. Whatever you need a website for, create yours today with Wix: https://www.wix.com/go/infographics What is the deepest submarines can go? Can submarines reach Mariana Trench? Can submarines go even deeper than that? On January 23, 1960, the Trieste touched down on the sandy soil at the bottom of Challenger Deep, the deepest part of the Mariana trench and deepest point in the world. At a depth of 35,815 feet (10,916 meters), the Trieste withstood an incredible 1.25 metric tons per square centimeter of pressure, although the single plexiglass window had cracked on the way down, giving American Don Walsh and Frenchman Jacques Piccard a good scare. Yet the Trieste was not a submarine, but rather a bathyscaphe, specifically designed to withstand the tremendous pressure. In today’s episode of the The Infographics Show, we ask, how deep can submarines go? Welcome everyone to the first video in my Subnautica Tips & Tricks series! I decided it was time to share some of what I have learned during my time playing this game and hopefully share some useful information with you. On today’s video, we are going to go over what I feel is the best approach to building an "Efficient base." I know there are many videos out there about what the “best” base build is but to me the “best” base is one that suits your needs. After all, just because something is cost efficient doesn't mean it does enough to make it worth the effort. So let’s talk about those needs and how to build accordingly. ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆ Subnautica Modded ► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3FDF3O7UifVotLiFoMMtgaYV3ZSMh6Pd Subnautica Live Streams ► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3FDF3O7UifXtA7XmowGYbc4jk6ml13HQ Subnautica Below Zero Early Access ► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3FDF3O7UifVwS7sUHru2vHsr8GdZotGc Subnautica Gameplay Season 1 ► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3FDF3O7UifWtTx0CGGKKXwo0bkAINKFG Subnautica Gameplay Season 2 ► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3FDF3O7UifUnp-LTtgR8an0R80HxpSbQ Subnautica Gameplay Season 3 ► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3FDF3O7UifU7ihBToJfDvwJx3LNst2XT Subnautica Tips & Tricks ► https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3FDF3O7UifWN1erHBNXT65A6Y4N5WdYk Subnautica On Steam ► http://store.steampowered.com/app/264710 SUBSCRIBE for more videos! ► https://goo.gl/7aPzCQ Like on Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/mrspicygaming/ Follow on Twitter ► https://twitter.com/MrSpicyGaming ⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆ Here is what Steam has to say about Subnautica: Subnautica is an open world, underwater exploration and adventure game currently under construction at Unknown Worlds. The game is in advanced stage of Early Access development, with substantial content available for play. Performance/frame-rates, stability, and polish are not yet up to the standards of a finished game. You have crash-landed on alien ocean world, and the only way to go is down. Subnautica's oceans range from sun drenched shallow coral reefs to treacherous deep-sea trenches, lava fields, and bio-luminescent underwater rivers. Manage your oxygen supply as you explore kelp forests, plateaus, reefs, and winding cave systems. The water teems with life: Some of it helpful, much of it harmful. After crash landing in your Life Pod, the clock is ticking to find water, food, and to develop the equipment you need to explore. Collect resources from the ocean around you. Craft knives, lights, diving gear, and personal water craft. Venture deeper and further form to find rarer resources, allowing you to craft more advanced items. Build bases on the sea floor. Choose layouts and components, and manage hull-integrity as depth and pressure increase. Use your base to store resources, park vehicles, and replenish oxygen supplies as you explore the vast ocean. What happened to this planet? Signs abound that something is not right. What caused you to crash? What is infecting the sea life? Who built the mysterious structures scattered around the ocean? Can you find a way to make it off the planet alive? The ocean teems with life: Use the ecosystem to help you. Lure and distract a threatening creature with a fresh fish, or simply swim as fast as you can to avoid gnashing jaws of roaming predators. Build a Pressure Re-Active Waterproof Nanosuit, or PRAWN Suit, and explore extreme depth and heat. Modify the suit with mining drills, torpedo launchers, propulsion cannons, grappling hooks and more. As the sun goes down, the predators come out. The ocean is unforgiving of those caught unprepared in the darkness. Areas that are safe to explore during the day become treacherous at night, but also reveal a beauty that those who hide from the darkness will never see. Cave systems wind below the sea bed, from dark claustrophobic passages to caverns lit by bio-luminescent life and burning-hot lava flows. Explore the world below the ocean floor, but watch your oxygen levels, and take care to avoid the threats lurking in the darkness. Subnautica is being created by Unknown Worlds, a small studio founded by Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire that traces its roots back to the 2003 Half-Life mod Natural Selection. The team is scattered around the globe, from the United States to the United Kingdom, France, the Czech Republic, Russia, Thailand, Australia, and many more places. There is a central office in San Francisco, California that serves as home base for the whole team.
