CSS Tutorial For Beginners 27 - Font Size

08:00
Hey my good friends, in this CSS tutorial for beginners we're going to dive head-first into the font-size property. The font-size property in CSS, believe it or not, controls how large the font displays in a browser. We can control font size either via absolute or relative measurements, and we'll cover both types in this video. Absolute font sizes are immutable (unless overridden later in the CSS), whereas relative font sizes are determined largely by the base font size they inherit. For my video on CSS inheritance, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMpaebQ3n6A&index=11&list=PL4cUxeGkcC9gQeDH6xYhmO-db2mhoTSrT Anyway, peace out, keep coding & have fun :). How to Change the Font Size in WordPress (3 Different Options)

03:39
Are you wanting to change the font size on your WordPress posts and pages? Not all themes have a simple built-in method for changing the size of text but we have taught many people the way to change this. In this video, we will show you how to change the font size in WordPress. The simplest step would be to use the header tags which are styled by the theme you are using. By highlighting specific text, clicking the dropdown, and selecting the style you want your theme will customize it to be that specified font size. Every theme is unique so depending on the theme would determine how the text will look. A second method would be to install and activate the TinyMCE advanced plugin found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/tinymce-advanced/ Once you activate the plugin go under Settings, TinyMCE Advanced to customize the editor's settings. You will see the TinyMCE Editor and be able to add or remove extra buttons but for this, we want the font family and font size added to the editor. This will allow you to choose how large the text should be as well as how it should be styled. The third method requires a little knowledge of CSS as we will be walking through how to manually edit the code for your site for your font size. You will go under Appearance, Customize, Additional CSS to get to the built-in editor. Target what you want to add a change to, for paragraphs, it's normally p. If you do not know what to target you can find out using inspect element, we have an article on how to use inspect element below: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/basics-of-inspect-element-with-your-wordpress-site/ Text version of this tutorial http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-change-the-font-size-in-wordpress If you liked this video, then please Like and consider subscribing to our channel for more WordPress videos. How to Set Font Styling for Mobile, Tablet, & Desktop with the Builder Responsive Styling

06:54
Font Styling is a feature of Responsive Styling that allows you to set specific fonts for mobile tablet, and desktop. You may have your images and layouts resized for various screens, but font size and type may not be one size fits all. By default, all paragraph and heading font styling are responsive across resolutions. This means that when you resize your browser it’ll shrink automatically to ensure your font fits the resolution you’re viewing it in. But now with the responsive styling feature, you’re given more freedom to customize exactly how your font will look when viewed on mobile or tablet mode. To change your font styling across your devices, click the top left icons for tablet or mobile view and click each text box to adjust the font using the styling panel on the right. Please feel free to leave us a comment if you have questions or suggestions on the next tutorial you would like to see! CSS Tutorial — EM & REM, Relative Sizes (8/13)

05:15
CSS Tutorial — EM & REM, Relative Sizes (8/13) We covered absolute units like pixel values, and we covered relative units like percentage. Now let’s talk about another super important relative unit. EM. This is mostly used to size text. Sizing your fonts is absolutely crucial in having a good looking page. It’s one of the most important aspects of UI design. Typography. I mentioned default browser styles a couple of videos ago. Let’s look at H1 in Chrome. H1 has this weird font-size value of 2em. That line is the reason why H1 so big without you writing any CSS. But what is that? EM? EM is another relative unit of measurement, similar to percentage. EM always has a number in front of it. 2em, 3em, .5em. Font-size: 2em means, hey what is my expected font-size if I didn’t have any other CSS? I want my size to be 2 times that. Twice as big. So what is my expected Font-size? Font size is usually inherited from the parent, so say I have a font-size: 12px on the body tag. And I have a direct H1 child inside it with font size: 2em. That will make the H1 size automatically 24px, double its parent. Because it’s 2EM. So it’s almost like the H1 is listening directly to its parent. 3em, 3 times that or 1em, the same size as my parent. You can even do decimal points like .5, half, 50%, .2, 20%. This is useful because you can set font-size of the body to be whatever, and all its children that have their sizing in em will listen to that and resize immediately. This way you don’t have to specify how many pixels for every single child. You define it once on the body, and everybody will resize themselves. Except there’s one problem. EM inherits from the direct parent, not from the body. So in our example we’re lucky the H1 is directly on the body but... if you have children inside children, they’re going to affect each other’s size. Say you have a P tag with A tags inside it. Say body font size is 20px. If my P tag is 2em, that makes it 40px, and my A tag is 3em, that makes the A 3 times as big as the P, so 40x3, 120px. This can get really confusing really fast. I don’t like it. I know a bunch of you are gonna get mad at me cuz you disagree with me, and that’s ok. You can start your own ColorCode on youTube and call it ColorChode and make your own videos and disagree. Anyway, back to EM. In real world applications you have several layers of elements inside one another, so it becomes really difficult trying to find out how big something is if you use relative values and have to keep going up the chain of parents and calculate. What is .7em of 2em of .5em of 14 pixels? That’s cray cray. Lucky for us, there is a solution. And it’s a solution that I personally like a lot, it’s not perfect but it covers 99% of what I want. And that is REM. Root EM, whatever EM stands for. I probably should have googled that. HAHA Actually I did, And I didn’t find a satisfactory answer. Anyway, REM is the exact same thing as EM except it’s not relative to the inherited font size from the parent, it’s relative to the root element, your beloved HTML tag. Remember that guy? This means you can give your HTML element a size. Say 14px. And any element inside your page, anywhere, regardless of who their parent is, given an REM font size, will then resize relative to 14px. This is in my opinion the cleanest way to specify font size, have it be easy to read, and still flexible like EM. So,... I think it’s time for a demo. I just gave you aloooot of information. Let’s go back to our profile page and clean up them sizes using both absolute and relative units. I’ll see you there.

If you are lucky enough to have a theme that allows custom CSS, you can copy and paste them into there. Step #1: Checking the default font To begin, sign into Gmail by going to www.gmail.com, type the username and password and click Sign in. In the main Gmail inbox page, click on the 'Compose' button on the top left of the page. The Compose window will open where you can type text and attach files to communicate to others via email. In the text field of the Compose window, type 'This is the default font'. The font style, color and size are set on your Gmail by default. Step # 2: Open Labs You can access Gmail Labs by go to the gear shaped icon on the top right side which denotes Settings. Click on the icon to open the drop down menu, in this menu, move the cursor down to the 'Labs' tab and click. Step # 3: Enable Default Text Styling In the Labs page, there is a search field, where you can type in your searches. Type 'Default text styling' in the search field and press Enter. The results of Available labs will include the Default Text Styling Lab, here click on the Enable option and move your cursor to the 'Save changes' button and click to ensure that all changes are saved before the window is closed. Step # 4: Open Mail Settings Back in the main Gmail page, again click on the gear shaped Settings option and move your cursor to the 'Mail Settings' and click on it. This will open the Mail Settings page. Step # 5: Make changes to Default text style In the Mail Settings page, you can scroll down till the Default text style section is in the screen. In this section, make changes to the font style, as you can see in the picture, you can change the font style from 'Tahoma' to 'Verdana'. Step # 6: Make changes to Default text color In this section you can also change to default color of the font as shown in the picture, by clicking on the icon with a T and a color palette. Step # 7: View the Set font style You can then see the sample of the font style, size, color etc in the small sample window as shown in the picture. Step # 8: Click 'Save Changes' In the Mail Settings window, after you have finished making changes to the font settings, scroll down to the end of the page and click on 'Save change'. Ensure to save the changes you made before exiting the page. Step # 9: Type in Compose window To see how the new font style is being used, go to the Compose window and start typing in the Compose window. How to Change Font Size and Font Family in WordPress Posts - Easiest WAY

06:33
Get the BEST FREE video course on the Internet and start your website now at: http://www.prositetutorials.com Hi there, it's time to professionalize your website. In this video, I explain the easiest way possible to change your website pages font size and font family. I know that when you're starting out this might seem a bit complicated. Many themes out there, don't offer any option for you to be able to do this. For this reason, you need to use css coding to alter your font size and family. But don't worry because it's really simple stuff. What is CSS? Css is a programming language for your website. It stands for, "Cascading Style Sheets," weird name, right? Well, this coding allows someone to design a whole website. By this I mean, change the structure and colors (background, navigation bar...) from it. How to Change Your Font Proprieties? When someone wants to change their website's font size and family normally they're talking about their paragraphs so follow the next steps: 1st. Go to your Wordpress back-office. In your sidebar, search for a section called, "appearance/editor." 2nd. When you're in your editor page you will see a bunch of different files belonging to the theme that you're using. Anyway, the one that you want to work with is called, "stylesheet" or "style.css." 3rd. Once you're in your stylesheet file. You will see a lot of coding, however, simply select everything (ctrl+a) then copy it (ctrl+c). Afterward, paste it(ctrl+v) to a blank notepad. This way you will have a back-up. Just in case you mess something up. 4th. Now go back to your stylesheet page and scroll to the bottom and write the following code: p{ font: 18px tahoma; } What are these CSS attributes? p: is for paragrah font: this allows you to change the font inside your paragraph. Once you're done, just update file and you're ready and done! You just changed the font for all the paragraphs in our website. Ins't that easy? Yeah! How to Change Google Fonts in an HTML Newsletter

03:14
Postcards – Drag and Drop Email Template Builder - https://designmodo.com/postcards/ In this video, I will show you how easily and quickly change Google Fonts in an HTML newsletter created in the Postcards application. Imagine you have exported an HTML template from Postcards and changed your mind about the fonts you used; now you want to change typefaces quickly without using the Postcards application. To do this, we'll make a few changes directly in the HTML code. First, open the index.html file and check the font used, it's Open Sans, but I want to change it. I have decided to use Roboto Slab, it's very different from Open Sans because I want to show you the real difference between fonts after the changes. Now go to the Google Fonts website and choose the Roboto Slab, next, click "Select this font", then click "Family selected fonts", and see the details of Roboto Slab. Let's see what styles we need. Here, in our code, we have 3 font styles: light, regular and bold, so I will use the same for my new font. Click the "Customize" tab and select light, regular and bold. You can select all of them, but we'll use only 3, you will see this in a few seconds. Now go back to the "Embed" tab and copy and paste this URL into the browser and open the link. Here we have the list of the styles for Roboto Slab. Back to code editor now, I will change this part of the code with the new part of code from Roboto Slab. Start by copying the "Font Face" code and paste to our editor in exchange of Open Sans font, here we have Roboto Slab in a light style. Next, copy the regular style of the font and paste it into the code editor. Then, copy the bold style of Roboto Slab and overwrite the Open Sans code. Done. We just need to make one more change so that we can see the Roboto Slab font in our newsletter. Change the Open Sans title in the Font Family of the style code directly in HTML, with the name Roboto Slab. Because we have more than 25 Open Sans titles in our HTML file, I will change all of them automatically using the "Replace" feature. So, in my editor, I will choose the "Find" item in the "Menu" and in the dropdown I will choose "Replace" item. I will type "Open Sans" to find this text in our HTML file and replace it with "Roboto Slab," click the replace button and done, you see we have made 26 changes with one click. Let's check this directly in the code, for example here you can see Roboto Slab, and here also is the new font. Ok, save the HTML file. Now, open the browser and let's check our changes, refresh the page and, you can see the Roboto Slab font is live. I like how it looks in my newsletter, very strong. Let's do an experiment now and revert all our changes. Open the code editor and return the Open Sans font to our newsletter. Save the changes and open the browser to check the result. Refresh the page and yes, Open Sans is back, so you can see the changes are live. I have finished this short tutorial, I hope it was useful, and I'll see you for future tutorials.
