In Remembrance of Classic Hollywood Actors & Actresses

06:56
A Montage in remembrance of Hollywood's Golden Age Stars. (Remember to watch in HD!) A Meaningful, Appreciation tribute featuring a variety of Classic Actors & Actress; Some that have left us, as well as others that are still here! The song was originally 4 minuets, giving me room for only 35 people! I had no choice but to extend the song for a longer period of time, rather than continuing the tribute with an entirely different song. Get Me? :) (You may hear a bit of an 'overlap' at one point.) PLEASE keep in mind before you comment, that a girl can't possibly include EVERYBODY in one video, so I'm sure you may notice some of your favorites may or may not be here, but It is nothing against that particular person, or me 'FORGETTING' them! I also included certain people in here whom I personally think deserve the spotlight as well ...some over-looked child actors, and other people who aren't seen as much as the 'well knowns', but I did include a generous amount for everybody to enjoy. ALL of the actors of that time are irreplaceable in my eyes. Also, you may hear some 'Ghost' audio clips-- I don't know how it happened, but I guess it was meant to be. :P I hope you all enjoy. This took me about 4 days to put together. As some of you who make tributes know; it's a lot harder than it looks. lol Song: 'Off I Go' by Greg Laswell In this tribute you will see In order: Rudolph Valentino Montgomery Clift Gary Cooper Anita Page Barbara Stanwyck Luise Rainer Harold Lloyd Cary Grant James Cagney Elizabeth Taylor Joan Blondell Jean Simmons Jimmy Stewart Mickey Rooney William Powell Humphrey Bogart Mary Pickford Marlene Dietrich Myrna Loy Clark Gable Edward G. Robinson Spencer Tracy Lauren Bacall Bette Davis Joan Crawford Karl Malden Kirk Douglas Sidney Poitier Jennifer Jones Debbie Reynolds Ginger Rogers Fred Astaire Olivia de Havilland Katharine Hepburn Henry Fonda Stan Laurel Oliver Hardy Paul Newman Hedy Lamarr Greta Garbo Tallulah Bankhead Shirley Temple Jackie Cooper Lionel Barrymore Adolphe Menjou Harry Langdon Grace Kelly Pola Negri Irene Dunne Betty Hutton Bing Crosby Bob Hope Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer Jerry Lewis Van Johnson Frank Sinatra John Gilbert Ava Gardner Jean Harlow Judy Garland Lucille Ball James Whitmore Charlie Chaplin

Home Movies From The Golden Age Of Hollywood's Big Stars

48:12
Ken Murray came to Hollywood in the late 20's to be one of the many stage stars trying to make a go of it in the talkies. His acting career never took off as he never really made an impression on the big screen and costarred in only a handful of films. However, he did take the career lemons he was handed and make lemonade. He realized his talent lay as a host and emcee and archivist - getting those who did have the public eye to open up. This compilation of home movies televised nearly fifty years ago is an eye into early 60's TV and its audience as well as the stars shown. As for the film itself we have footage of Laurel and Hardy in the early sound era, Cary Grant poolside at home as well as on location filming Gunga Din, guests at William Randolph Hearst's San Simeon in its heyday, and footage from the 30's through the 50's of most of the major Hollywood lots. The footage ranges from a kiddie car race between the Marx Brothers on the Paramount lot to Lucille Ball both in the 30's and the 50's to Walt Disney taking Ken's own daughters on a tour of his studio. There is no sound on these home movies, so Mr. Murray narrates the footage himself and does a good job of it. Ken does get some things wrong, though, and I don't know why since he was a witness to all of this history. He shows Cecil B. DeMille on location shooting "Cleopatra" and says it was De Mille's first talkie. As this was 1934 that would have been way past the beginning of talking pictures. DeMille's first all-talking picture was 1929's "Dynamite". As for the values of the 50's and early 60's, there was one thing I noticed - Ken would "clean up" some of the narration for what was the squeaky clean landscape of TV 50 years ago, especially when he is at San Simeon. Where there was Hearst, Marion Davies was usually not far away, and such is the case in these home movies. Of course Ken never mentions that Marion was Hearst's mistress. He also talks about Marion Davies' niece, who also appears in the film. That young lady was actually Marion Davies' daughter by Hearst. Another thing to note about the TV audiences of 1960 - they actually knew and cared something about these stars who were, in some cases, from 35 years in the past. Although in many cases the movie stars of the 30's and 40's became the TV stars and hosts of the 50's and 60's such as with Groucho Marx, Dick Powell, and Lucille Ball. If you're at all interested in film history I'd recommend you give this one a look. I think you'll find it fascinating.

How the Catholic Church censored Hollywood's Golden Age

06:00
For decades Hollywood studios needed to follow a strict set of moral guidelines if they wanted their movies to get made. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO From 1934 to 1954 every Hollywood movie needed to follow a strict set of guidelines laid out by the Catholic church. They included such things as barring excessive drinking, on screen nudity, and even sexual relationships between races. Enforcement was overseen by the Production Code administration, which was led by Joseph Breen. In order to ensure that the production code was followed the Catholic Church founded the Legion of Decency, a group with millions of members that threatened to boycott any movie that didn’t adhere to the guidelines. For decades every line of dialogue needed to be approved by Breen and his administration, making him one of the most powerful people in the history of cinema. 10 Old Hollywood Scandals That History Forgot | Must Watch

01:30
During the golden age of Hollywood, secret stories happening behind the scenes were often more intriguing, and certainly darker, than anything on the silver screen. In an era of sanitized, often puritanical popular entertainment, old Hollywood scandals seeped in moral bankruptcy were fueling the creative, administrative, and financial branches of the motion picture industry. From studios hooking impressionable kids on drugs to women forced into abortions to maintain their image, scandals old Hollywood covered up will certainly change the way you look at tinsel town's rose-tinted past. In an era when studios had fixers who used money and intimidation to save the reputation of a starlet or the studio, countless scandals were covered up. Many of these secret old Hollywood scandals were swept under the rug when they happened, and sealed in airtight boxes for several subsequent generations, in an attempt to erase them from history, to preserve the legacy of those involved. In other cases, the public got wind, then, not soon thereafter, simply forgot they'd happened in the first place. But as the years have passed, many of these secrets and cover ups have been revealed, showing a darker side to the studios and stars of old Hollywood Subscribe for More

Hollywood in the Golden Age with Robert Wagner

53:18
Robert Wagner talks about his legendary career and lifetime in Hollywood, from growing up in Los Angeles to partying with Frank Sinatra and much more in this uncensored interview. Paparazzi, glitz, glamour and gambling in international waters with the jet set, as well as the dark days and prejudice of the past (as featured in his new book, You Must Remember This) are all laid bare for Allison Hope Weiner on Media Mayhem. GUEST BIO: After making his uncredited screen debut in The Happy Years (1950), Wagner was signed by 20th Century Fox, which carefully built him up toward stardom. He played romantic leads with ease, but it wasn't until he essayed the two-scene role of a shellshocked war veteran in With A Song in My Heart (1952) that studio executives recognized his potential as a dramatic actor. He went on to play the title roles in Prince Valiant (1954) and The True Story of Jesse James (1957), and portrayed a cold-blooded murderer in A Kiss Before Dying (1956). Wagner was chosen by Sir Laurence Olivier to star with him in the television adaptation of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," in which he costarred with his wife, the late Natalie Wood. Wagner also teamed up with Sir Laurence Oliver in "This Gun for Hire," Danielle Steel's "Jewels" and "To Catch a King." Wagner made a respectable transition to television as star of the lighthearted espionage series It Takes A Thief (1968-1970). He also starred in the police series Switch (1975), but Wagner's greatest success was opposite Stefanie Powers in the internationally popular Hart to Hart (1979), which ran from 1979 through 1984. He was nominated for an Emmy for his role as Alexander Mundy in "It Takes a Thief". Since the end of the regular run of the series, the actor has produced eight "Hart to Hart" movies for both NBC and cable's Family Channel. Considered one of Hollywood's nicest citizens, Robert Wagner has continued to successfully pursue a leading man career into his sixties; he has also launched a latter-day stage career, touring with Stefanie Powers in the readers' theater presentation "Love Letters". He found success playing Number Two, a henchman to Dr. Evil in the blockbuster trilogy Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002), and in 2007 he began playing Teddy, a recurring role on the hit CBS series Two and a Half Men (2003). In addition to all his film and television ventures, Wagner has toured the world performing A.R. Gurney's "Love Letters", with Stefanie Powers, who were the first to launch the tour Internationally. Currently, Wagner performs "Love Letters" at charity events with his wife, actress Jill St. John. Wagner has written has written two books; Pieces of My Heart and You Must Remember This. Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood dishes on Golden Age movie stars' lives: EW review: http://ew.com/movies/2018/07/26/scotty-secret-history-hollywood-dishes--lives-golden-age-movie-stars-ew-review/. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClx6VUL_T3VJT4MWaVTay2A?sub_confirmation=1 Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood We gave it a B+  It’s a shame that the titles The Celluloid Closet and Hollywood Babylon were already taken, because both would have been perfect substitutes for Matt Tyrnauer’s deliciously salacious new documentary, Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood.  The Scotty in the title is Scotty Bowers – a 91-year-old ex-Marine and L.A. hustler who, back in the 1940s and ‘50s, had a stealth alter-ego as a go-between for gay and biual Tinseltown luminaries and young-buck escorts. After returning from World War II, Bowers ran a gas station on Hollywood Boulevard which served as a sort of undercover brothel and Dionysian Shangri-La for image-conscious stars. Celebrities such as Cary Grant, Bette Davis, Cole Porter, Randolph Scott, Rock Hudson, Laurence Olivier, Janet Leigh, Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn, and even the Duke and Duchess of Windsor were clients. And more than that, friends. They knew that they could trust Bowers – a gentleman pimp who could keep a secret. Until now, that is.  Adapted from Bowers’ 2012 memoir, Full Service, Tyrnauer’s dishy exposé follows the senior-but-still-frisky Bowers as he settles into his golden years alongside his long-suffering wife, who turns a blind eye to his tawdry past, if not his hoarder tendencies. Still, even in his nineties, Bowers is as impish as ever. He’s never more alive than when he’s indiscreetly spilling the sensational details of his past and the pasts of others. With a mop of curly white hair and a mischievous, satyr’s twinkle in his eyes, Bowers provides a corrective and a counter-narrative to the repressive, PR-massaged Golden Age of Hollywood – a dream factory built atop a mountain of lies and sanitized half-truths. He’s not just a name-dropper, but a master storyteller. Whether you believe every spicy morsel that drops from his lips is entirely up to you.  If you’ve already pored over Bowers’ book, there’s a bit of redundancy and repetitiveness to the gentleman hustler’s revelations. But honestly, who tires of hearing gossip about A-list gang bangs, fetishes, and hook-ups? Tyrnauer draws out his not-very-introspective subject with a fly-paper approach rather than a crowbar, and he lends Bowers both humanity and sympathy without ever judging him. That part is left up to you, which feels right. After all, Bowers never judged his famous friends either. He just saw his role as facilitating happiness. You can take issue with his outing dead celebrities who no longer have the chance to defend themselves. But Bowers is unapologetic, almost defiant. He did what he did and is who he is. He makes no bones about it. Not while he’s enjoying every last second of his long-belated close-up.
