Oracle SQL Tutorial 18 - How to Create Foreign Keys

07:09
In this video we are going to be creating foreign keys. I highly recommend watching the previous video before you watch this one. Essentially, we are creating a very simple database for a system where we can create projects and add people to those projects. We started with the users table: --Delete the table if needed: --DROP TABLE users; CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, CONSTRAINT users_pk PRIMARY KEY (user_id) ); Now we are going to create a table for projects with a column that is a foreign key to the username. We're going to want to make this match data types: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) ) Next, we need to add the column attributes we decided on last video: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL ) NOT NULL because we want every project to have a creator, but we are not labeling UNIQUE because that means we could only have a specific username once in the table. We want to allow a user to create multiple projects. We also need to add a primary key: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT projects_pk PRIMARY KEY (username) ) Now, the question that remains is, how can I tell Oracle that I want the username to reference the username column of the other table? We have to make a foreign key constraint. As you've learned from the previous videos, there are about three ways to create constraints. You can do it inline at the column level, unnamed. You can do it at the column level, named, and you can do it at the Table level, named. Usually the table-level is preferred, but I will quickly remind you how to do all three again. CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL REFERENCES users (username), CONSTRAINT projects_pk PRIMARY KEY (project_id) ) This works, but if we want to name it, we should do this: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL CONSTRAINT projects_users_fk REFERENCES users (username), CONSTRAINT projects_pk PRIMARY KEY (project_id) ) This works, but the preferred method is to do it at the table level: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT projects_pk PRIMARY KEY (project_id), CONSTRAINT projects_users_fk FOREIGN KEY (creator) REFERENCES users (username) ) Great! So you've learned how to create a foreign key, now we can see it inside of Oracle SQL Developer. One important thing when it comes to foreign keys is what happens when have data in your database and you try to delete the parent row that a row in the child table references? In the next video we are going to configure that using ON DELETE. Short Story of C C is a general-purpose programming language that has been around for nearly 50 years. What is FORWARD DECLARATION? What does FORWARD DECLARATION mean? FORWARD DECLARATION meaning

What is FORWARD DECLARATION? What does FORWARD DECLARATION mean? FORWARD DECLARATION meaning - FORWARD DECLARATION definition - FORWARD DECLARATION explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ In computer programming, a forward declaration is a declaration of an identifier (denoting an entity such as a type, a variable, a constant, or a function) for which the programmer has not yet given a complete definition. It is required for a compiler to know certain properties of an identifier (size for memory allocation, data type for type checking, such as type signature of functions), but not other details, like the particular value it holds (in case of variables or constants) or definition (in the case of functions). This is particularly useful for one-pass compilers and separate compilation. Forward declaration is used in languages that require declaration before use; it is necessary for mutual recursion in such languages, as it is impossible to define such functions (or data structures) without a forward reference in one definition: one of the functions (respectively, data structures) must be defined first. It is also useful to allow flexible code organization, for example if one wishes to place the main body at the top, and called functions below it. In other languages forward declarations are not necessary, which generally requires instead a multi-pass compiler and for some compilation to be deferred to link time. In these cases identifiers must be defined (variables initialized, functions defined) before they are used in execution, but do not need to be defined before they are used in source code for compilation or interpretation: identifiers do not need to be immediately resolved to an existing entity.

How to Set Environment Variables in Linux

Linux based operating systems use bash shell. The shell environment variables are used for several purposes, from storing data, storing software configurations, set terminal settings, and changing shell environment. The environment variables are normally created by the operating system during installation, or by different software as per the required need. Apart from that, in linux, to set environment variables, we first need to access the terminal application. That's because the user has the privilege to add, edit, and remove different variables at will. Step # 1 -- All variables on terminal In linux, to set environment variables we first need to access shell environment variables. For that, we will need to open the terminal by searching for it in the applications menu, or selecting it from the dock on the left. Once the terminal is opened up, to check for all environment variables, type the set command and press enter. This will list all the environment variables stored in the shell. Step # 2 -- One variable at a time The amount of these variables can become a very long list and locating one specific variable can become a tough task. Fortunately Linux allows us to display the value of one shell variable by using the echo command along with the name of the variable. This makes the task very easy. Step # 3 -- Changing a variable Now, to add or modify an environment variable, we can use the export command followed by the name of the variable and the values that go with it. Multiple values for a variable need to be separated by a colon. The colon indicates to the operating system that one value has ended and another has begun. The variables can be created and removed from the shell easily, and can be done whenever required. But changing important variables may mess with the operating system's functionalities so it's important to be careful. And that's basically all you need to know for how to set environment variables in Linux.

Part 12 Can we join two tables without primary foreign key relation

10:38
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2014/09/part-12-can-we-join-two-tables-without.html Can we join two tables without primary foreign key relation Yes, we can join two tables without primary foreign key relation as long as the column values involved in the join can be converted to one type. ID column in Departments table is not the primary Key and DepartmentId column in Employees table is not the foreign key. But we can still join these tables using ID column from Departments table and DepartmentId column from Employees table, as both the columns involved in the join have same data type i.e int. Select Employees.Name as EmployeeName, Departments.Name as DepartmentName from Employees join Departments on Departments.ID = Employees.DepartmentId The obious next question is, if primary foreign key relation is not mandatory for 2 tables to be joined then what is the use of these keys? Primary key enforces uniqueness of values over one or more columns. Since ID is not a primary key in Departments table, 2 or more departments may end up having same ID value, which makes it impossible to distinguish between them based on the ID column value. Foreign key enforces referential integrity. Without foreign key constraint on DepartmentId column in Employees table, it is possible to insert a row into Employees table with a value for DepartmentId column that does not exist in Departments table. The following insert statement, successfully inserts a new Employee into Employees table whose DepartmentId is 100. But we don't have a department with ID = 100 in Departments table. This means this employee row is an orphan row, and the referential integrity is lost as result Insert into Employees values (8, 'Mary', 'Female', 80000, 100) If we have had a foreign key constraint on DepartmentId column in Employees table, the following insert statement would have failed with the following error. Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint. The conflict occurred in database "Sample", table "dbo.Departments", column 'ID'.

SQL
SQL (/ˈɛs kjuː ˈɛl/, or /ˈsiːkwəl/; Structured Query Language) is a special-purpose programming language designed for managing data held in a relational database management system (RDBMS). Originally based upon relational algebra and tuple relational calculus, SQL consists of a data definition language and a data manipulation language. The scope of SQL includes data insert, query, update and delete, schema creation and modification, and data access control. Although SQL is often described as, and to a great extent is, a declarative language (4GL), it also includes procedural elements. This video is targeted to blind users. ISO 10206 | Wikipedia audio article

50:03
This is an audio version of the Wikipedia Article: ISO 10206 Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago. Learning by listening is a great way to: - increases imagination and understanding - improves your listening skills - improves your own spoken accent - learn while on the move - reduce eye strain Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone. You can find other Wikipedia audio articles too at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuKfABj2eGyjH3ntPxp4YeQ In case you don't find one that you were looking for, put a comment. This video uses Google TTS en-US-Standard-D voice. SUMMARY ======= Pascal is an imperative and procedural programming language, which Niklaus Wirth designed in 1968–69 and published in 1970, as a small, efficient language intended to encourage good programming practices using structured programming and data structuring. It is named in honor of the French mathematician, philosopher and physicist Blaise Pascal. Pascal was developed on the pattern of the ALGOL 60 language. Wirth had already developed several improvements to this language as part of the ALGOL X proposals, but these were not accepted and Pascal was developed separately and released in 1970. A derivative known as Object Pascal designed for object-oriented programming was developed in 1985; this was used by Apple Computer and Borland in the late 1980s and later developed into Delphi on the Microsoft Windows platform. Extensions to the Pascal concepts led to the Pascal-like languages Modula-2 and Oberon.

It is particularly useful in handling structured data where there are relations between different entities/variables of the data. SQL offers two main advantages over older read/write APIs like ISAM or VSAM: first, it introduced the concept of accessing many records with one single command; and second, it eliminates the need to specify how to reach a record, e.g. with or without an index. Originally based upon relational algebra and tuple relational calculus, SQL consists of many types of statements, which may be informally classed as sublanguages, commonly: a data query language (DQL), a data definition language (DDL), a data control language (DCL), and a data manipulation language (DML). The scope of SQL includes data query, data manipulation (insert, update and delete), data definition (schema creation and modification), and data access control. Although SQL is often described as, and to a great extent is, a declarative language (4GL), it also includes procedural elements. SQL was one of the first commercial languages for Edgar F. Codd's relational model, as described in his influential 1970 paper, "A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks". Despite not entirely adhering to the relational model as described by Codd, it became the most widely used database language.SQL became a standard of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in 1986, and of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1987. Since then, the standard has been revised to include a larger set of features. Despite the existence of such standards, most SQL code is not completely portable among different database systems without adjustments.

Java basics and syntax

09:32
Java is object oriented programming (OOP) language similar to C++. The syntax is the set of rules defining how a Java program is written and interpreted. The syntax is mostly derived from C and C++. Unlike C++, in Java there are no global functions or variables, but there are data members which are also regarded as global variables. All code belongs to classes and all values are objects. The only exception is the primitive types, which are not represented by a class instance for performance reasons (though can be automatically converted to objects and vice versa via autoboxing). Some features like operator overloading or unsigned integer types are omitted to simplify the language and to avoid possible programming mistakes. These are Java basics and lets know about each one. Identifier features: Begin with any Unicode character that is a letter but cannot start with a digit Subsequent characters may be letters, digits, dollar signs, or underscore characters Currency sign (such as $) is permitted. Special character such as _ is permitted. It cannot be equal to a reserved keyword, null literal or Boolean literal. White space is not permitted. Choose self-explanatory names for variable for easier to read the code and understand. Using acronyms or abbreviations is discouraged. Reserved keyword or word is not allowed. User lowercase for single word and If it consists of more than one word, capitalize the first letter of each subsequent word. Example myScore. All variables must first be declared before they can be used. This involves stating the variable's type and name: int myScore = 10; The separators { and } signify a code block and a new scope. Class members and the body of a method are examples of what can live inside these braces in various contexts. Java has three kinds of comments: traditional comments, end-of-line comments and documentation comments. Traditional comments, also known as block comments, start with /* and end with */, they may span across multiple lines. This type of comment was derived from C and C++. traditional comments, /* Traditional comment: This is a multi-line comment. It may occupy more than one line. */ - End-of-line comments start with // and extend to the end of the current line. This comment type is also present in C++ and in modern C. end-of-line comments // This is an end-of-line comment - Documentation comments in the source files are processed by the Javadoc tool to generate documentation, these comments are a special kind of traditional comment and they are not specifically defined in the language specification. documentation comments. /** * This is a documentation comment. * * @author */  - Source files must be named after the public class they contain, appending the suffix .java for example, HelloWorld.java. - It must first be compiled into bytecode, using a Java compiler, producing a file named HelloWorld.class Java source file may only contain one public class, but it can contain multiple classes with other than public access and any number of public inner classes. When the source file contains multiple classes, make one class "public" and name the source file with that public class name. - keyword public denotes that a method can be called from code in other classes, or that a class may be used by classes outside the class hierarchy. The class hierarchy is related to the name of the directory in which the .java file is located. This is called an access level modifier. Other access level modifiers include the keywords private and protected. The keyword static in front of a method indicates a static method, which is associated only with the class and not with any specific instance of that class. Only static methods can be invoked without a reference to an object. Static methods cannot access any class members that are not also static. Methods that are not designated static are instance methods, and require a specific instance of a class to operate. The keyword void indicates that the main method does not return any value to the caller. If a Java program is to exit with an error code, it must call System.exit() explicitly. The method name "main" is not a keyword in the Java language. It is simply the name of the method the Java launcher calls to pass control to the program. Java classes that run in managed environments such as applets and Enterprise JavaBeans do not use or need a main() method. A Java program may contain multiple classes that have main methods, which means that the VM needs to be explicitly told which class to launch from. The main method must accept an array of String objects. By convention, it is referenced as args although any other legal identifier name can be used

1947 ou la nouvelle réalité du monde moderne

02:20:54

Assisting Researchers Demonstrate Impact Using Data-Related Publications

35:54
Researchers who deposit their data for reuse should get credit for its impact on future scholarship. Beyond knowing the number of times their data files are downloaded, PIs can measure impact by counting how often findings based on their data are published in the scholarly literature. This is why ICPSR makes a concerted effort to link data deposited here with publications using those data. How do we do this? It's more difficult than you might think. This session offers a look into the current practice of data citation and outlines the technical and cultural challenges associated with identifying and systematically collecting examples of data reuse. Luckily, you are in a position to improve practices, and we will discuss how you can. ICPSR is the world's largest archive of digital social science data. We acquire, preserve, and distribute original social science research data. ICPSR is a partner in social science research.
