Good Coding Practices - #1 - Competitive Programming In Java

24:20
The first lecture of this series is probably the most difficult to master: Good coding practices! We discuss this based on three goals: 1) Correctness 2) Efficiency 3) Debuggablilty I would love to hear your suggestions and views in the comments below. Will try to incorporate as many suggestions in the last lecture of this series: Multithreading. Happy Coding! #java-coding #java-best-practices

Improve Your Java Code, Functional-Style—Now!

52:42
Functional programming is all the rage. It can undoubtedly produce cleaner and more expressive code, but why switch to Scala or wait for Java 8? In fact, there are many ways to dramatically improve your Java code quality by using a more functional style today. This presentation discusses how techniques such as functional programming, using fluent APIs, and other clean coding practices can make your code more concise, more readable, and much easier to maintain. But more importantly, you will learn about libraries such as LambdaJ and Google Guava that make this possible today with your existing Java code base. Copyright © 2013 Oracle and/or its affiliates. Install and Use CheckStyle for Java as an IntelliJ IDEA Plugin 2018

04:55
CheckStyle for java can scan your source and point out coding issues that you might have missed that might lead to problems. It can also help you improve your Java Coding because you have to investigate and decide if this is a problem or not. Very often you learn some nuance about Java that can improve your programming. If you find issues that you don't care about you can change the configuration to avoid them being reported. https://github.com/jshiell/checkstyle-idea The application I ran CheckStyle against https://github.com/eviltester/thingifier --- You can support my YouTube Channel via Patreon and gain access to many exclusive Patreon videos at https://patreon.com/eviltester --- Read my blog: http://blog.eviltester.com --- Find my online books and training at: - https://compendiumdev.co.uk - http://eviltester.com - http://seleniumsimplified.com - http://javafortesters.com

Create A Google Map In A Website | Google API Map | Learn HTML and CSS | HTML Tutorial. In this HTML tutorial you will learn how to insert an interactive map inside a website. Google Maps API guide: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key Find your latitude and logitude: http://www.latlong.net/ -- mmtuts is a YouTube channel that focuses on teaching beginner and advanced courses in various multimedia related skills. We plan to make tutorials available on programming, video production, animation, graphic design, and on software such as the Adobe Creative Cloud programs. PHP for beginners is a how to series that teaches the PHP coding language to people who are just starting out learning programming. The course teaches how PHP scripting can be made easy and teaches how to build many apps such as a login system, a comment section, how to upload images, how to create users in a website, and much more. Creating dynamic websites with PHP is easy and should not be seen as otherwise, which is why we want to explain the language in a easy to understand way for beginners. If you have suggestions on new courses, or specific lessons within existing courses you would like to see, then feel welcome to submit them in the comment section or in a private message. ALL suggestions will be seen, but not all will be replied to since we get quite a few every day.

Java Caching with Guava

42:17
Join us for a deep dive into Guava's new caching APIs, found in com.google.common.cache. We review the entire cache package in depth, describing the behavior of its APIs and explaining the techniques used to implement them. We compare all of the eviction policies provided by the library, giving specific examples of when each one might be appropriate. For all APIs we show real code to illustrate how to interact with them. Author: Charles Fry Charles Fry is a software engineer at Google, where he works full-time on the Java core libraries, externally distributed as Guava. He led the architecture of Guava's new common.cache package, subsequent to taking ownership of MapMaker in 2010.

Devnexus 2015 - Making Java Bearable with Guava 2015 Edition by Daniel Hinojosa

01:09:25
This Devnexus 2015 presentation is brought to you by DZone. This 2015 presentation covers the Guava library developed by Google (http://code.google.com/p/guava-libraries/). Guava provides collection extensions to the Java Collection API and, along with this, a cornucopia of time-saving utilities that bring Java as close as possible to some of the more functional and/or dynamic language competitors like Scala, Ruby, and Clojure. Why a brand spanking new 2015 version of this presentation? Well, there more new stuff to learn and use! This presentation covers briefly on functions, predicates and how they interact with Java 8. It covers how to use new collection constructs that make life easier, including MultiMap, BiMaps, and MultiSets, immutable collections, handling Futures with callbacks and shutdowns, caches, and then we will dwell on tons of the newer features that came with Releases 16, 17, and 18.

OSCON Java 2011: Josh Bloch, "Java: The Good, Bad, and Ugly Parts"

14:34
In my technical presentation ("The Evolution of Java: Past, Present, and Future"), I'll be discussing all of the changes to the Java programming language since its inception. In this this keynote, I'll focus my attention on the starting point: I'll present my candidates for the best and worst features in the platform as it was originally released (JDK 1.0), and explain the reasoning behind my choices. Some of my choices may be obvious, but others will likely surprise you. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Josh Bloch Google Joshua Bloch is a software architect in the Open Source Program Office at Google, author of the bestselling, Jolt Award-winning "Effective Java" (Addison-Wesley, 2001; Second Edition, 2008), and coauthor of "Java Puzzlers: Traps, Pitfalls, and Corner Cases" (Addison-Wesley, 2005) and "Java Conurrency in Practice" (Addison-Wesley, 2006). He was previously a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems, where he led the design and implementation of numerous Java platform features including the Java Collections Framework and JDK 5.0 language enhancements. He holds a Ph.D. from CMU and a B.S. from Columbia.

Java Program to check if year is a LEAP year or Not | Java Tutorials for Beginners

07:42
In this java programming tutorial we will write a program to check if a year is LEAP year or not. Concept of Leap Year - The rule states: “Every year that is exactly divisible by four is a leap year, except for years that are exactly divisible by 100, but these centurial years are leap years if they are exactly divisible by 400.” For example, if year = 2400, it is leap year,(Condition 1 satisfied) but if year = 2200, is NOT a leap year, (Cond. 2 not satisfied), and if year = 2020, is a leap year, (Cond. 2 satisfied). To check whether a year is a leap year or not, you need to check the following 3 conditions: IF 1. Any year that is divisible by 400 is definitely a leap year. ELSE IF 2. If divisible by 4 AND not divisible by 100 then a leap year. ELSE not a leap year. UML Class Diagram Tutorial

10:17
Learn how to make classes, attributes, and methods in this UML Class Diagram tutorial. There's also in-depth training and examples on inheritance, aggregation, and composition relationships. UML (or Unified Modeling Language) is a software engineering language that was developed to create a standard way of visualizing the design of a system. And UML Class Diagrams describe the structure of a system by showing the system’s classes and how they relate to one another. This tutorial explains several characteristics of class diagrams. Within a class, there are attributes, methods, visibility, and data types. All of these components help identify a class and explain what it does. There are also several different types of relationships that exist within UML Class Diagrams. Inheritance is when a child class (or subclass) takes on all the attributes and methods of the parent class (or superclass). Association is a very basic relationship where there's no dependency. Aggregation is a relationship where the part can exist outside the whole. And finally, Composition is when a part cannot exist outside the whole. A class would be destroyed if the class it's related to is destroyed.
