How to check if JavaScript is enabled

09:17
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/02/how-to-check-if-javascript-is-enabled.html In this video we will discuss how to check if JavaScript is enabled or disabled. Let us understand this with an example. We have a page that captures Name and Gender. Both fields are required. The page relies on JavaScript being enabled for performing validation. We should always have server side validation irrespective of whether we have client side validation or not. It is not a good practice to rely just on client side validation, but for the purpose of this demo, let us say we only have client side validation. If JavaScript is enabled then we want to display the Name and Gender elements and the user can continue to use the application. If JavaScript is disabled then we want to hide the Name and Gender elements and we want to display the following message. It seems that you have disabled JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript. The easiest way to detect if JavaScript is enabled is by using noscript tag. The content inside the [noscript] element will be displayed only if scripts are not supported, or are disabled in the user's browser. [noscript] [style type="text/css"] .rootDiv { display: none; } [/style]
It seems that you have disabled JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript.
[/noscript] [div id="rootElement" class="rootDiv"]

Name [input id="txtName" type="text" onfocus="validateIfEmpty('txtName')" onblur="validateIfEmpty('txtName')" onkeyup="validateIfEmpty('txtName')" /]

Gender [input id="txtGender" type="text" onfocus="validateIfEmpty('txtGender')" onblur="validateIfEmpty('txtGender')" onkeyup="validateIfEmpty('txtGender')" /]

[/div] [script type="text/javascript"] function validateIfEmpty(control) { var controlToValidate = document.getElementById(control); if (controlToValidate.value == "") { controlToValidate.style.background = "red"; } else { controlToValidate.style.background = "white"; } } [/script]

My Personal JavaScript Notes on How to

05:30
MyWebSite: https://www.aimiecaprice.com How to store an HTML elements content into a variable. How to write content to a variable using JavaScript. How to run a comparison statement on an HTML elements content When I initially dove into this, creating the condition was the thing that stumped me most. I got the rest of the equation that stated if this condition exists, do xyz. But my problem came with how do you get JavaScript to check if the condition exist and how do you create condition? Actually creating the condition is what really stump me most probably because I was over thinking it. I knew I wanted JavaScript to change the CSS display property depending on what image a user clicked...so I needed to write a function, make the image clickable, and have the function fire off "OnClick" So I created the condition inside the function which meant every time that function fired off the condition would be created by the function. JavaScript would literally write code that stated var x = 1, or var x = 2, depending on which function was being called by the user clicking various different images. . Example var x = 1; if( x == 1) { document.getElementById("desTxt1").style.display = "inline-block"; document.getElementById("desTxt2").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt3").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt4").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt5").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt6").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt7").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt8").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt9").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt10").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt11").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt12").style.display = "none"; }

HTML5 Basics - Display Types (Part5)

07:06
In this video we are going to talk about something inherent to html tags: display types. Display types define how the tags behave when rendered by the browser. We can use Style Sheets to change these at any time, but each tag has a default behavior and its important to understand how they will work when you are describing your page when writing the initial markup. Got that? # Three Types There are a lot, but we are going to concern ourselves with three main display styles. # Block Block level elements are big blocks, just like they sound. They are generally used to divide content, because by default block level elements begin on new lines. Block-level elements may contain inline elements and other block-level elements. Inherent in this structural distinction is the idea that block elements create "larger" structures than inline elements. An example is a "p" tag, that sections off the whole paragraph, and forces the next paragraph tag to a new line. Check out the notes below for a link to a list of all the block level tags in HTML. [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/HTML/Block-level_elements] # Inline Inline elements may contain only data and other inline elements. Where block level elements are larger structures that contain all kinds a crap. By default, inline elements do not begin with new line when rendered by the browser. An example of this would be to wrap some words in your paragraph in an "a" tag. the words become a link, but the link does not start a new line in the paragraph, or disrupt the flow of content. It just sits inline in the paragraph. When we get to styling our document, we will note that inline elements cannot take width, height, margin and padding styles. For more on that check out this link [http://www.maxdesign.com.au/articles/inline/] # Inline-block This is the strange, but handy one. An inline block is placed inline (ie. on the same line as adjacent content), but it behaves as a block. So it can take those margins and paddings and dimensions. The only tags that default to inline-block are images and buttons. But with css, later on we will see that we can change any element to inline-block if we want to. Check out the link below for more information on inline-block [http://www.impressivewebs.com/inline-block/] # Display None & Table and others... There are other default display types that all have their little display behavior quirks; like display:table, or display:none. And there are a lot of interesting display methods on the horizon in css3, but today we wanted to just talk about how the html tags cary certain display types by default.

CSS Display none vs Visibility hidden

02:28
1. Display none: When this property is attached to an element, it will entirely remove that element from page. No space will be taken by this element on page. 2. Visibility hidden: When this property is attached to an element, it will hide the element but it will occupy its space on the page.

CSS Visibility Hidden Declaration Explained

02:02
CSS Visibility Hidden Declaration Explained https://youtu.be/5EHn2IoE08E CSS visibility hidden allows you to add hidden content on the page. This is similar to the display:none; property, but there is one major difference. Visibility hidden hides the content, but keeps the area where the content was as a blank space. Display:none; hides the content and the content area. You may want to stick to the display property because it gives you more options and there are few use cases where you would want to the space taken up by a element to remain taken up as it is when using visibility:hidden; The other display values available to you are: Block makes the element take up a whole row in the HTML element where it resides. Here's how it looks: display:block; Inline makes the element take up only the space it needs. Here's how it looks: display:inline; Inherit applies the same display property as its parent element. Here's how it looks: display:inherit; Display none makes elements disappear. It also makes it so the hidden element does not take up any space on the page. Here's how it looks: display:none; That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below. How to create a modal with HTML, CSS & JS - Part 4: JavaScript continued

18:33
With the modal working, we want to add a nice little fade in and fade out effect. Because we can't transition the display property, instead we want to transition its opacity. To do this, I create a couple of very simple CSS animations, that we use inside of the JavaScript. Also, to get things to work properly on fade out, I add in a new event listener - animationend - to only change the display property only once the modal has faded out. If not, it would display: none before the animation is done, defeating the purpose! --- My Code Editor: VS Code - https://code.visualstudio.com/ How my browser refreshes when I save: https://youtu.be/h24noHYsuGc --- Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/kevinpowell I'm on some other places on the internet too! HTML Basics: 4. Display Types

04:26
https://www.colorcode.io/course/html-basics/display-types So, talking about HTML structure. We looked at the DOM, parent/child relationship. But why is all that so important. Well, let’s look at some real examples. Let’s go to GQ.com - You might start to recognize some of these elements. Here’s probably a small header tag. This might be a p tag. Here’s an image. But how do these elements know how to sit. Or as we call it, how to be rendered. Why is the image on the left and not at the top? If you take this whole block of content and consider to be an individual piece, it’s probably a div container, with a several other elements inside it. Well, here is where we talk about the relationship between elements. If I add two P tags (Paragraphs) to my HTML. What do you think is gonna happen? They sit on top of each other. What if they were A tags (Links)? Now they sit side by side. Why is that? Well the reason for that is something all elements have, the Display type. And it’s different for P and A. Paragraphs are what we BLOCK level elements. That means they take up the entire row. They go all the way to the right. Regardless of how much text is in there. A tags on the other hand, don’t, they take as much of the horizontal space, as they need. Depending on how much text is in them. That’s called an INLINE element. Which to me sound like it is within the line where it belongs. Hmmm Ok!! Another example: div and span. These two are both used as containers for other elements. They help with grouping things together. Here are two DIVs, and here’s two SPANs. So the type of element you choose makes a massive difference in how they get rendered. So let’s now go back to GQ and look at some of those groups together again. HEADER: What do you think these elements are? What about these side panels? Do they look like they’re groups? Yeah that looks like a group, this is another group. What if we could see how these were built? Well, we can. If you’re using Chrome you can right click on an element and Click on Inspect Element. This window will show you every element this page has. If you’re using Safari or FireFox I think you can do the same thing. If you’re using IE, I got nothing for you. Change your browser please. And you can do this to any website in the world. It is a great learning tool just to poke around and see how these big names build their websites. Sometimes it’s crazy what you find in there, sometimes it’s really confusing. But when you recognize something that you know, like a piece of HTML that you’ve used before, it feels kinda cool. That’s it there’s no mystery to it. So spend some time and look around some of the websites you like, Facebook or something. And see how things are structured. You’ll start to notice patterns pretty soon. So to recap, there are Block elements that take up a whole row. There are inline elements that take as much space as they need. Here are 2 crazy things I’ll add to that: 1. These are the most important display behaviors, BLOCK and INLINE, but there are other kinds as well that we will cover soon. 2. you can change the display type of an element using CSS, so a P can become INLINE and a link can become a BLOCK. Confused? Great, that means you’re getting into HTML. But all jokes aside it will make more sense the more you do it. So go ahead and experiment with these a little. Poke around some websites and in the next couple of videos we’ll make an actual meaningful page together.

Javascript Tutorial with Examples For Beginners (pt 1)

04:21
This is part one of a series of javascript programming tutorials for beginners. I've created a bunch of example and sample problems for you to solve here: http://www.pyaraapp.com/js-tutorial-1.html Go to that site, open the developer console and type in the following commands and see what happens: /* Javascript Can Change HTML Content */ document.getElementById("demo").innerHTML = "Hello There"; /* JavaScript Can Change HTML Styles (CSS) */ document.getElementById("demo").style.fontSize = "30px"; /* JavaScript Can Hide HTML Elements */ document.getElementById("demo").style.display="none"; /* JavaScript Can Show HTML Elements */ document.getElementById("demo").style.display="block"; The problem with most javascript tutorials is that they don't give you enough example problems. If you are a beginner, it is really hard to learn how to code by just watching videos. You need to go out there and really solve sample problems. What is javascript: JavaScript is the programming language of HTML and the Web. Programming makes computers do what you want them to do. JavaScript is easy to learn. This tutorial series will take you from a JavaScript beginner to an expert. Why Study JavaScript? JavaScript is one of the 3 languages all web developers must learn: 1. HTML to define the content of web pages 2. CSS to specify the layout of web pages 3. JavaScript to program the behavior of web pages This tutorial is about JavaScript, and how JavaScript works with HTML and CSS. Learn by Examples: Examples are better than 1000 words. Examples are often easier to understand than text explanations. This tutorial supplements all explanations with clarifying "Try it Yourself" examples. If you try all the examples, you will learn a lot about JavaScript, in a very short time! In this video, I will use the javascript console thats built into the chrome developer tools to get you to start writing javascript code. With the chrome browser, you will be able to write out some code and see the results immediately. Then I will show you how to store a variable and what a variable really is. Then I will go over the different types of variables and then how to output the values of these variables you created.

2015 How To Remove/Change Elements On Your WordPress Blog

07:44
In this tutorial I will show and explain how to remove or change elements on your wordpress blog. Make sure that you follow the instructions carefully and feel free to ask any questions! Link: Wordpress: https://wordpress.com/ Improved Simpler CSS (plugin): https://wordpress.org/plugins/imporved-simpler-css/screenshots/ Direction: Make sure that your WordPress is up to date. Download the plugin: Improved Simpler CSS. Activate the plugin and make sue it is installed correctly by going to Appearance tab and then Custom CSS. Next up is to understand what CSS classes and ids are: A class is an attribute which specifies a class to an element. class="Hello" An ID is an attribute which specifies an ID to an element. id="Hello" All in all classes and ids both have the same job; classes are for multiple elements but ids are for single elements. A menu on a website will most likely be a class because it will have to be displayed more then once but a picture might be an id because it will only have to be displayed once. Go to your wordpress blog and right click whatever element you want to take away or change. (Text, search, picture.) Go to "inspect element" on IE. (There is something similar on all browsers, if you do not have it then find out how to et it.) A window should pop up, and all the code for the website should be displayed. The highlighted part is the element you selected and find the class or id that corresponds to that element. Note; sometimes the classes or id's are above the element, look around for it. Usually the class or id name has something related to the element. If it is a long class or id like so: class="js-add link comments link disabled-link" then it is usually the first part of the line. In this case it is "js-add." Once you found the class or id you go to the plugin and type: For class: .name { display: none; } For ID: #name { display: none; } Press "save" and refresh your blog to see the effect. State your problems and I will help you out!

CSS Display Property Explained In Detail

05:13
CSS Display Property Explained In Detail https://youtu.be/xHo19HnGI0Y CSS display property allows you to set how an element an element is display and even if it's displayed. You can display an element block, inline, inherit or none. Block makes the element take up a whole row in the HTML element where it resides. Here's how it looks: display:none; The display property is one of two properties used to make elements disappear. If you use visibility:none you will make an element disappear, but it still takes up the space on page so. So if the element is 200 pixels high, using display:none the content of the element disappears and the "blank" space takes up zero pixels on the page. If on that same element you use visibility:none you have a "blank" space that is still 200 pixels high. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! css id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference between id and class

css3 id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference between id and class in css css benefits of using class over id, css3 benefits of using id over class, html id vs class, css id vs class, html class vs id, css class vs id, The Difference Between ID and Class, id vs class tutorial, difference between id and class tutorial,The Difference Between class and id HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript Tutorials , lessons with examples. Techsith.com id vs class more of a design related question and its a very important one. Overall you will be using more classes then ids. id: think of element that is unique. there is only one id per element. your html validateor would throw and en error if you do use it which means you will not be reusing the same style anywhere else. all the main containers in your HTMLs you should use id because you are not going to repete them . That doesnt mean that you cant use class there. advantage of using is for is as your main namespace. for css this way you can segregate work so your css doesn't messup. for example #leftContainer .button { color:red} which mean all the botton in the left containers are red. class: you can used them freely. any common styles you can define as class. as you can have multiple classes for the same element. and mix and match of the classes will make your css small . for example you can create two divs with same color but diffrent font sizes. Dont forget the attributes. actually id and class are attributes wich special meaning. and you can create your own custome attributes. like myattr. Platforms like angularjs uses them freely. overall i thin its better to use classes then ids especially when you working in a team envirement where you are responsible for a partial html . using id can be riskier if someone else is using the same id in the other part of the html . in css id has higher priority than class for example .....

1. HTML5 Custom Video Player Controls JavaScript Programming Tutorial

14:03
Lesson Code: http://www.developphp.com/video/JavaScript/Video-Player-Custom-Controls-Programming-Tutorial In this first part of the tutorial series we will discuss how to set up a custom controls interface starting with the play/pause button. Customizing the HTML5 video controls interface will allow you to achieve a unique and constant look for your video player in all browser software. Different browser software display different looking default controls for the video element. You can also offer your custom programmed video players to others to use on their websites if they also do not want to use the stock controls that are native to browser software for the video element. We use JavaScript to control the video after we remove the default controls. We used to do very similar things in Flash AS3 if you remember. We are going to begin with disabling the default control bar and setting up our own control bar design using a DIV that we can place all of our video controls into as we create them. In this part 1 we will add a play/pause button to the control bar, then in the videos that follow we will customize more aspects of video control interfacing.

CSS Display Property in HINDI - How to use CSS Display in HTML?

10:44
Hello Friends.. today in this video i have explained the complete concept of CSS Display .. How to use CSS Display property in HTML? CSS display is the most important property of CSS which is used to control the layout of the element. It specifies how the element is displayed. Every element has a default display value according to its nature. Every element on the webpage is a rectangular box and the CSS property defines the behavior of that rectangular box. Syntax display:value; CSS display values There are following CSS display values which are commonly used. display: inline; display: inline-block; display: block; display: none; CSS display inline The inline element takes the required width only. It doesn't force the line break so the flow of text doesn't break in inline example. CSS display inline-block The CSS display inline-block element is very similar to inline element but the difference is that you are able to set the width and height. CSS display block The CSS display block element takes as much as horizontal space as they can. Means the block element takes the full available width. They make a line break before and after them. CSS display none The "none" value totally removes the element from the page. It will not take any space. Hope you guys like the video,if you have any other query ,please let me know. CSS Display:Block Declaration Explained In Detail

02:34
CSS Display:Block Declaration Explained In Detail https://youtu.be/1IgGXzGI5AU Display block css will make it so an element takes up the entire width inside the HTML element where it resides. This is common for headlines and divs. These means if the HTML element is set to be 200 pixels wide then a block element will take up all 200 pixels of that width. Similary, if the element is 1000 pixels wide a block element will take up the whole 1000 pixel width. Or if an element is set to 100% of the page, a block element within that 100% wide parent will take up 100% of the page. The other display values available to you are: Block makes the element take up a whole row in the HTML element where it resides. How to create a responsive navigation with Flexbox and CSS Grid and a no JS dropdown

44:13
My very first video that I published here is one on creating a navigation. It worked, it looks good, and it's insanely popular (by far my most popular video). The problem is, it isn't responsive and is a bit old school in that it uses floats. In this video, I take that same navigation but I update it to take advantage of modern CSS, making it fixed top, adding a semi-transparent background, creating the dropdown without any javascript, using flexbox and CSS grid to lay it out, and changing up the pseudo-element transitions to be higher performance. A commenter kindly pointed out that this isn't tabbable, which is an issue and causes accessibility issues. I've updated my CodePen to take this into account. Basically, I changed the 'display: none' on the input, which makes it almost useless, to instead have a position absolute on it and moved it way off screen. Then, I made it so when the input gains focus, the label gets highlighted to give us a visual clue as well. If you'd like to check it out, the codepen link is down below.
