https://support.dbagenesis.com/knowledge-base/scheduling-jobs-with-dbms_scheduler/#step-1-create-program DBAs, for years, are writing OS level scripts to execute different database related tasks and schedule it via cront tab in Linux. The cron jobs work perfectly well until Oracle released DBMS_SCHEDULER in 10g version. Note: DBMS_SCHEDULER has introduced many benefits yet, many DBAs still stick to OS level scripting. Before you learn how to schedule jobs via DBMS_SCHEDULER, let us compare it with cron jobs (OS level scripts): - DBMS_SCHEDULER syntax works same regardless of OS - Can run jobs based on database events - If DB is down during a job schedule, it will be executed again once DB starts up - You can run jobs on remote machines (11gR1 and above) - Schedule chain of jobs one after another All in all, its time for you to migrate most of your OS level scripts to DBMS_SCHEDULER!

In this video, you will learn how to prevent jobs from running on specific days by using a Rule-based Calendar or RBC. Content Overview: Introduction - 0:15 RBC use example - 0:33 SMART folder - 1:36 Checking the schedule for the job - 2:41 Transcript: If you have jobs that run on a regular basis, and you want to make sure that these jobs don’t run on certain days, for example, holidays, or days when heavier processes run, you can use an RBC to schedule these jobs. Let’s look at an example where a job is scheduled to run Monday through Friday. However, we don’t want the job to run on the first and last days of each month. To meet this scheduling criteria, we’ll need two RBCs. One RBC for Monday through Friday, and a second RBC for the first and last days of the month. Let’s take a quick look at these calendars in the Tools domain that were created previously. The Monday through Friday calendar is pretty straightforward. It’s set up for all months during the year. The calendar for the first and last days of each month was set up using Month Days, and Days from start/end of month. “1” was selected to make sure the first day of every month is in the calendar, and “-1” was selected for the last day of every month. If you want to know how to create an RBC or another calendar, take a look at our Calendars video. We have a SMART folder that contains some jobs. All the jobs should run Monday through Friday. So at the folder level, in the Scheduling tab, we’ll select the Monday through Friday RBC. First we’ll remove the “EVERYDAY” RBC that’s entered by default. Now we’ll select the Monday through Friday RBC. We can check that the scheduling is correct by clicking Folder Schedule. If we view the schedule for each job, we see that it takes on the scheduling properties of the folder. For the “Report3” job, we want to prevent the job from running on the first and last days of the month, when these days occur Monday through Friday. So we will select Using Specific Rule-Based Calendars, select the Monday through Friday calendar, and then add the second RBC in the Excluded Rule-based calendars list. Now let’s check the schedule for this job. We see that the job will run Monday through Friday, but won’t run on the days when the first and last days of the month fall on Monday through Friday. You can get an overview of the scheduling for the jobs in a folder by selecting the folder, selecting the Analysis tab, clicking View Schedule, and selecting View Schedule. Remember that you can use a Rule-based calendar and the Exclude option to prevent jobs from running on specific days.

PBCS includes a Job Scheduler, which enables you to run common administrative tasks on a set schedule, with a certain frequency, or on-demand. If you are familiar with EPM Automate, the jobs that can be scheduled are very similar to the tasks that EPM Automate can execute. In this video, we will demonstrate how to create and schedule a job to refresh an application.

http://etltutorial.com - buy the course now its data integration time part of the pentaho kettle tutorial course is to schedule the jobs so the process will Run the night. So after we have the file we can use the scheduler of Microsoft or in the case of linux we can use crone to make it run its schedule that we can set so I will show pentaho kettle tutorial how we can do it in Microsoft we will go to our program then accessories inside the accessories u have system tools and then u have task scheduler this is how the task scheduler looks like and we can create the basics and task we will need to give a name we give it my kettle1 and the descriptions will be I love my kettle1 because I love kettle too much now u can run only when users is logged on or run whether users is logged on or not I set the run with highest privileges in order to set a little bit of security then I will configure for windows 7 because this is what I am using now then I will set it ok I need to set a trigger so the trigger will be scheduler when we are going to run this job or this base file or I will set it for daily and recur every one day, pentaho spoon if I want it too I can repeat this task every one hour or other hours we have all sort of possibilities here we can play with it after u do this we can go the actions and here u connect the file itself u say that u want to send a email or spare a message or start a program and a base file is a small program we will start a program then I will just locate our base file it is eto etlcoursjobs and I am clicking ok another ok that is it guys we have kettle scheduler if I want to test if everything is going well then I can go the task scheduler library and find my task it is the one my kettle1 because I did already my kettle job this is ours my pentaho kettle tutorial and I can see here all the properties I can change if I can like but most important thing is run it once ok now it is actually is running I am writing to trans.log that we set it to run to ok it is over it is very important that u will write the full path to the kitchen.bat because when u run it from scheduler does not know where is kichen.bat is. so you will give a arrow because does not find program .so u need to just say that it is a inside the path the inside staff wherever u put it yourself that is how the scheduler in microsoft.

AWS Glue is a fully managed extract, transform, and load (ETL) service that makes it easy for customers to prepare and load their data for analytics. Learn more at http://amzn.to/2G8J5IG. You can create and run an ETL job with a few clicks in the AWS Management Console. You simply point AWS Glue to your data stored on AWS, and AWS Glue discovers your data and stores the associated metadata (e.g. table definition and schema) in the AWS Glue Data Catalog. Once cataloged, your data is immediately searchable, queryable, and available for ETL. AWS Glue generates the code to execute your ETL data transformations and data loading processes. The code is customizable, reusable, and portable. Once your ETL job is ready, you can schedule it to run on AWS Glue's fully managed, scale-out Apache Spark environment. AWS Glue provides a flexible scheduler with dependency resolution, job monitoring, and alerting.
