In this presentation, Beatriz Carlini, PhD, MPH, shared information about the fast transformation of marijuana products since legalization and how marketing strategies have been used to normalize marijuana use. She also discussed the importance of adjusting prevention and education messages to best address the new reality of our state. About Dr. Carlini: Dr. Beatriz (Bia) Carlini (PhD, MPH) is a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Washington’s Alcohol & Drug Abuse Institute (ADAI) and Affiliate Associate Professor at the School of Public Health. Her research career has been dedicated to understanding the public health impact of legal psychoactive substances such as alcohol, tobacco, and inhalants and more recently, marijuana. In 2016, Dr. Carlini was appointed to coordinate the ADAI’s marijuana research activity, collaborate with other marijuana researchers at the UW, and liaison with policy makers in Washington State and re-searchers at other universities.

Volvo Group Trucks is involved in various kinds of external collaboration, of which joint ventures (JV) for Product Development and Manufacturing are the most complex with respect to their processes and IT solutions. In early 2013, a JV between Volvo and the Chinese company Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles, was presented to the world and in late 2014, the transaction completed that made AB Volvo a 45% owner of the Chinese company. With this the Volvo Group became the world’s largest manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks, but in doing so, had to realise a new kind of collaboration scenario. Enabling secure, efficient and controlled product information sharing with external partners requires an open and capable collaboration platform. This presentation will describe how Volvo has implemented scalable processes and solutions to support a truck JV setup, and also other kinds of collaborations. Processed Sugar. Processed sugar triggers, the release of inflammatory messengers, called cytokines, which can worsen your joint pains. Instead of processed sugar, you can use unrefined sugar, such as, honey, date sugar, maple sugar, brown rice syrup, etc., in limited amounts. Removing processed sugar from diet completely, is not only helpful for your joint pains, but also to your overall health. 5. Dairy. Most dairy products contain casein, which is a protein type, that causes inflammation, as it irritates the tissues around the joints. Therefore, you should limit your consumption of dairy products. 6. Seed-based Oils. Most seed-based oils, are rich in omega-6 fatty acids. According to many studies, omega-6 fatty acids, increase inflammation, while omega-3, reduce it. Instead of seed oils, you can use olive oil, rice bran oil, mustard oil, sesame oil, etc., 7. Salt. Excessive salt intake causes, water imbalances in the body, leading to edema, and high pressure on the blood vessels. This worsens arthritis, and results in pain, and inflammation. 8. Nightshades. Nightshades contain alkaloids, which in arthritis patients, show pro-inflammatory properties, and thus, intensify the pain, and inflammation. Therefore, you should reduce the consumption of white potatoes, tomatoes, pepper, paprika, and, eggplants. 9. Red Meat. Red meat contains, high levels of an omega-6 fatty acid, called, arachidonic acid, which may increase pain, and inflammation.
