How to make catalogue card
Card Catalog - Library Checkout Cards - Library Catalog System
Maintaining a classroom library is a wonderful way to encourage students to read. A great way to keep track of your books is with library cards. The library catalog cards from Top Notch Teacher Products will keep you on top of which student has checked out which book. Of course, traditional libraries can also use these cards to keep up with loaned books. These traditional looking cards, that come in packs of 50, provide headings to record the book's author, title, date due, and borrower's name. The headings on the 3" x 5" cards are printed on both sides for your convenience. Staying organized can be tough with a teacher's busy schedule, the book catalog cards will save you time and allow students to easily check out books. The more students have easy access to books, the more they will read. The headings of the cards can be used to teach students about a variety of books and authors. Older students might be enlisted to create the cards for your library as they read the books. It is also a good way to teach kids in the digital age about the way we used to check out books from a library. Specifications: 50 cards in a pack Dimensions: 3" x 5" cards Headings include: author, title, date due, and borrower's name See all of our Library Cards and Teacher Resources for more teacher supplies like this one. What is a MARC record?
Nicole Arbuckle introduces the library MARC record format in the context of modern publisher metadata. Excerpted from a Digital Book World webinar, titled "Metadata for Library Book Discovery".
Using eBooks from the library catalog
Step #1 Open your web browser and navigate to the library homepage at http://www.bayonnelibrary.org Step #2 Open the library catalog by clicking on the "Local Catalog (iBistro)" link located in the left-hand navigation menu of the library homepage Step #3 Do a search for the book you are looking for. In the results list e-books will be designated by "EBOOK" in the call number location. Step #4 To view an e-book click on the "Details" button from the results list. This will display the full record. Click on the tab labeled "Catalog Record" and then click on the web address link located in the first FTP field of the full catalog record. Step #5 This link will open a new window that displays the e-book's full bibliographic record at the Project Gutenberg website. Step #6 Scroll to the bottom of this web page. Under the heading labeled "Download this ebook for free" locate the plain text format that is uncompressed (the compression field will say "none"). Click on "main site" link under the "Download Links" field. This will open the ebook in a new window. Step #7 Once you have finished your reading session you can save the e-book as a text file to pick up later. Click on File - Save As... in the navigation bar of your web browser. Choose where you would like to save the file (i.e. on your desktop, or in my documents, etc.), name it, and remember to save it as a text file (.txt) Step #8 After saving your e-book to your local computer as a text file you can open it with any software program that will recognize a text (.txt) file. This would include Note Pad, Word Pad, and/or Microsoft Word.
