Do real men do yoga? My observation while traveling and teaching was that it was in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece that the most men were practicing. Either the Latin machismo reputation is a myth 💪, or that's what allows them to embrace the 'feminine'. I'm aware that this video could actually scare some guys off 🙀,but as my first teacher told me, "this is not for the feint hearted." This is a little snippet of the Advanced A (or 4th Series). Besides the difficulty of many of the postures, what makes the Ashtanga sequences (the first 4 anyway)especially demanding is having to do them one after the other for 1 to 2 hours. It's one thing to do the postures individually, but done all together is another ball game. But, just like I modify this series to fit in with my life, all the different series can be adapted to fit anyone's life. Meaning that there's a way for my dad to practice Ashtanga, and there's a way for me to practice, and every degree in between. ✌🏽️🕉

Arthur Boorman was a disabled veteran of the Gulf War for 15 years, and was told by his doctors that he would never be able to walk on his own, ever again. He stumbled upon an article about Diamond Dallas Page doing Yoga and decided to give it a try -- he couldn't do traditional, higher impact exercise, so he tried DDP YOGA and sent an email to Dallas telling him his story. Dallas was so moved by his story, he began emailing and speaking on the phone with Arthur throughout his journey - he encouraged Arthur to keep going and to believe that anything was possible. If you live in a big city it probably feels like there’s a yoga studio on every street corner. Even though many of those pants never make it into the inside of a yoga studio, I’m going to show you some reasons why they should and why yoga is so beneficial to the body. This week on The Health Nerd, you’re going to learn how just a few minutes of yoga every week, will make you more mentality alert, happier, and healthier. First, let’s talk about the science. There are a shocking amount of studies that show the health benefits of yoga for men, for women, and everyone in between. If you think it’s something only for the naturally flexible or for hippies, think again. Here are some of the best benefits of starting a regular yoga practice. #1. Researchers from the University of Washington found that a regular yoga practice helps one Fight sugar cravings. Improve breathing. And help with emotional awareness. They found that yoga gave people a sense of “mindful eating” in which they were consciously aware of the impact the food they ate made on their body. This gave the practioners better control over their eating habits and eating decision. #2. Oxyford University found that people who practice yoga only once a week Slept better. Had lower blood pressure. And were overall less stressed than their non-yoga counterparts. This lowering of cortisol and stress levels led people to be in a more relaxed and happy state of mind.
