Order SEVEN SPIRES' album "Solveig" here: https://www.sevenspiresband.com/store More info: sevenspiresband.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sevenspiresband/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sevenspiresband/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/sevenspiresband Graced once again by the mixing/mastering genius of Sascha Paeth and Miro Rodenberg, Seven Spires’ new album is “SOLVEIG”, a theatrical metal concept album in two acts. It is the story of a lost soul and his journey through a Demon’s sunless neo-victorian underworld. Despite small glimmers of hope, it is a grim tale with a heavy focus on escapism, death, and decadence. With distinct attention to melancholic power metal, melodic death, and black metal, Seven Spires fuse sounds from across the spectrum of metal with their great love for Romantic composers, and the atmospheric and storytelling capabilities of film scores. Don't miss Seven Spires LIVE at MetalDays in Tolmin, Slovenia this July! “Solveig” will be available worldwide on August 4, 2017! ------------------------- All video credits: EmVision Productions http://em.vision/

The "city of dreaming spires"...

00:13
This pan from over Radcliffe Square North to East over central Oxford gives you a bit of an idea why Matthew Arnold was inspired to write those words about our city. From the Bodleian Library to mysterious quads of All Soul's College and the grandeur and magnificence of New College and Queen's in the further ground you can see several of the reasons we love Oxford!
The Dreaming Spires - 'Not Every Song From The Sixties Is A Classic'

02:59
NOT EVERY SONG FROM THE SIXTIES IS A CLASSIC (RADIO EDIT) 2:46 (Download Only) CLUBHOUSE RECORDS RELEASE DATE: 28TH MAY We all grew up in awe of the Sixties, a golden sunlit age where great music crackled out of mono speakers, untouchably faraway, before we were born or even thought of. We bonded as teenagers over copies of 'Sgt Pepper' and 'The Band', learning to play by learning every song. Gradually we explored some of the places where the music was made- Abbey Road's Studio 2 and Woodstock, USA- eventually landing at the tattered end of Sunset Strip to find the landscape of The Byrds and Gram Parsons very much intact. K-Earth 101 blasted classic Motown and early British Invasion at LA-X airport and through the speakers of the beat-up Chevy van we were travelling in, and of course The Mamas & The Papas' California Dreaming was a regular, even unavoidable feature. One of our number had a pathological hatred of the song (perhaps it was the flute solo?) which provided the spark for this one, which charts (with a smile and jangle of guitars) the darker side of life in the overpowering city where the past always wins. Which city? Maybe it's Oxford after all! Recorded initially on a day off during a tour with Two Fingers of Firewater last summer, with vocals, bass and 12-String added later back in Oxford, this edit (safely under 3 minutes, like all Sixties classics) would not feel out of place on K-Earth 101... .. Director and Editor - Phil Perry Director of Photography - Leigh Bloomfield Producer - Danny Tipping The full length album 'BROTHERS IN BROOKLYN' featuring the singles 'Everything All The Time' and 'Not Every Song From The Sixties Is A Classic' is released on 11th June on Clubhouse Records. OXFORD The City of Dreaming Spires

07:11
The University of Oxford has no known foundation date. Teaching at Oxford existed in some form in 1096, but it is unclear at what point a university came into being. The University is a 'city university' in that it does not have a main campus. Instead colleges, departments, accommodation, and other facilities are scattered throughout the city centre. TheScience Area, in which most science departments are located, is the area that bears closest resemblance to a campus. Iconic university buildings include the Sheldonian Theatre used for music concerts, lectures and university ceremonies and Examination Schools where examinations and some lectures take place. The University Church of St Mary the Virgin was used for university ceremonies before the construction of the Sheldonian. Christ Church Cathedral uniquely serves as both a college chapel and as a cathedral. ---Extracted from Wikipedia The pictures in the video were taken when I was there on May 18th 2013 and its was a graduation day at Oxford, so most of the colleges were not open to public.

'Hype Bands parts I & II' - The Dreaming Spires (Official)

07:04
Taken from the E.P. "DARKEST BEFORE THE DAWN" Released by Clubhouse Records on 24th November 2014 “Americana. It started as a flickering light sending black-and-white images through an old movie projector. Faces of cowboys and Indians, superheroes, the good guys victorious over the emissaries of evil. Then as I grew the music took over. Rock, jazz, skiffle… the blues… and country songs came to liberate me… Then, as I toured America with my band, I saw the place first hand and up close- from the roadside of a dreary bus stop in the middle of nowhere to the Hollywood Bowl.” RAY DAVIES (Americana, preface, Virgin Books, 2013). In the era since we started making music, via our bands Whispering Bob, Goldrush, and now The Dreaming Spires, an interest in Americana, both musical and cultural, by UK acts has somehow seemed laughable, not cool. Maybe we can blame insular Britpop for that, much as we love some of it. Now it seems that may be changing. Just as Big Star’s Alex Chilton and co instinctively recreated the sound of the British Invasion via the Deep South, a love of Americana is a big part of what drove classic 60s bands like the Kinks (and indeed The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Small Faces), as the quote above from Ray Davies’ recent book shows. And it’s what drives us too. We have always felt a connection to American roots music since discovering a crate of old vinyl as teenagers containing records like The Band’s “brown album” and Neil Young’s After The Goldrush, and have subsequently been influenced and affected profoundly by many American musicians and friends on our travels there since. This EP tells the story of one such friend, Danny – he’s also mentioned in songs on our debut Brothers in Brooklyn. In that album’s opener “Singing Sin City”, Danny’s the one picking us up from LAX in 2003 (where we landed for a tour backing Ride’s Mark Gardener) and blasting The Byrds and Teenage Fanclub from a rickety cassette player in a battered van named Darla. That was when Americana became a real, visceral thing for us, and reality and dreams were combined in our veins and synapses. Nominally our road manager, Danny became our best friend, musical collaborator, and introduction to the west coast music scene, for which we will always be grateful. He became our songwriting partner too, writing songs with us for Goldrush, Mark Gardener, Dusty Sound System and several we play now – such as Strength of Strings and Just Can’t Keep This Feeling In from Brothers in Brooklyn, and our recent 7” single If I Didn’t Know You. The 17 minutes of music on Darkest Before The Dawn continue the tale: Hype Bands parts I & II tells of our many joyful on-the-road experiences as a struggling band - “late night james in hotel rooms” and far-out experiences in Joshua Tree, as well as a chance encounter playing pool with our friendly rivals The Thrills. Things get darker in House on Elsinore; when we returned to the US for a friend’s wedding, Danny was in dire straits and need our help; we did all we could and moved his belongings out of the Echo Park home where he’d welcomed us so often. The dark side of LA was more apparent that time, so we welcomed the chance to hike in the mountains with Danny and see the city below – as in the Streisand movie, “on a clear day you can see for miles”. Haunted by this visit, I scrawled a lyric with Cat Martino (yes, “Cathie”) for the song now titled Darkest Before The Dawn, which was a heartfelt message we wanted Danny to hear. I’m glad to say he has heard it now, and is in a better place, having moved back to his home city, New Orleans (Alex Chilton and Ray Davies have also been residents there). The song recalls our last set with Goldrush, which took place, fittingly, in Joshua Tree, where Danny sang The Ballad of El Goodo with us. It was Danny teaching me that song that introduced us to Big Star in the first place, so we’re back to where we started: Americana, the back-and-forth of music and culture across the Atlantic. Oxford, England - City of Dreaming Spires

00:55
Oxford is a city in the South East region of England and the county town of Oxfordshire. It is the 52nd largest city in the United Kingdom, and one of the fastest growing and most ethnically diverse. Oxford has a broad economic base. Its industries include motor manufacturing, education, publishing and a large number of information technology and science-based businesses, some being academic offshoots. The city is known worldwide as the home of the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. This prestigious university, established in the 12th century. Buildings in Oxford demonstrate notable examples of every English architectural period since the late Saxon period. Oxford is known as the "city of dreaming spires", a term coined by poet Matthew Arnold. University College and Magdalen College are off the High Street, which runs from Carfax Tower, past the Covered Market to the riverside Botanic Garden. Oxford has numerous major tourist attractions, many belonging to the university and colleges. As well as several famous institutions, the town centre is home to Carfax Tower and the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, both of which offer views over the spires of the city. Many tourists shop at the historic Covered Market. In the summer punting on the Thames/Isis and the Cherwell is popular.

The Dreaming Spires - We Used To Have Parties // The Crypt Sessions

04:30
Don't forget to subscribe for more Crypt Sessions: http://bit.ly/cryptsessionssubscribe The Dreaming Spires perform 'We Used To Have Parties' for The Crypt Sessions. ----------------------- The Dreaming Spires are brothers Robin and Joe Bennett, who also handle most instrumental duties, with Jamie Dawson on drums and percussion. Regular live guitarist Nick Fowler (also of Gaz Coombes’ band) contributes guitar to many tracks. Known to some as “the Notorious Bennett Brothers”, Robin and Joe have carved out some renown as accomplished musicians as well as co-founders of acclaimed festivals, a label and even a record store. Their musical pedigree includes stints in Goldrush and Danny & the Champs, touring and recording with Mark Gardener of Ride, and collaborations with everyone from Gary Louris of The Jayhawks to Garth Hudson of The Band, Mercury Rev to Saint Etienne (the brothers recently headlined The Barbican as members of the present live incarnation of Saint Etienne). Joe also plays with fellow travelers Co-Pilgrim and Robin co-writes with several other acts and has his own side-project Dusty Sound System. From their earliest guise (a band called Whispering Bob who released a mini-album in the late 90s and received airplay from radio legends John Peel and, naturally, Bob Harris) the Bennett brothers have long straddled a line between the influence of roots music, classic 60s pop and their youthful love of indie rock from both sides of the Atlantic, always anchored by their distinctive harmonies in the tradition of The Everly Brothers and The Byrds. New album - ‘SEARCHING FOR THE SUPERTRUTH’ (the title is borrowed from cosmic evolution theorist Rich Blundell) is a distinctive and diverse follow up to their acclaimed debut ‘Brothers In Brooklyn’ and while it will continue to attract comparisons to Big Star, it also reaches out into new psychedelic realms and is filled with grand strings, strange poetry and backwards guitars. While the Americana narrative of the debut and recent EP ‘Darkest Before The Dawn’ continues through tracks like ‘Still Believe in You’, ‘Strange Glue’ and ‘Dusty in Memphis’, the emphasis and movement is towards the cosmic and mystical, more ‘I Am The Cosmos’ than ‘Back of a Car’, making this the Spires’ most accomplished and moving release yet. What is the supertruth? You’ll know when you find it. The answer’s all inside. The record is produced by The Dreaming Spires and mixed by Rowland Prytherch, with additional production from Nick Holton and Tony Poole. Guest musicians include Sarah Cracknell (St Etienne), Tony Poole (Starry Eyed & Laughing), Jackie Oates, Nick Holton (Black Hearted Brother) and “Free Jazz” Geoff Widdowson (Danny and the Champions of the World). for more info visit: http://www.clubhouserecords.co.uk/ ----------------------- The Crypt Sessions Website: http://bit.ly/cryptsessions Twitter: http://bit.ly/cryptsessionstwitter Facebook: http://bit.ly/cryptsessionsfacebook Crew Camera - Fergus Dingle Camera - Michael Sanders Camera - Adam Williams Engineer - Anthony Leung Mixer - Duncan Powell Editor - Karina Stefanisina Recorded and mixed at The Crypt Studio, London: http://bit.ly/2rTCvLP

'Brothers in Brooklyn' - The Dreaming Spires (Official)

03:29
The Dreaming Spires are celebrating their summer festival appearances with a double A-side digital single. BROTHERS IN BROOKLYN b/w FRIEND YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN The single is released by Clubhouse Records on 15th July Side A is a special edit of the title track from the band's acclaimed debut LP, Brothers in Brooklyn. For many fans, Brothers in Brooklyn (the song) is the perfect encapsulation of what the Spires, led by brothers Robin and Joe Bennett, are all about. Its dextrous rhythms and clever lyric have reminded many of Graceland-era Paul Simon or even Vampire Weekend, making it a departure from the world of Americana the band sometimes inhabit. Having been part of acclaimed and influential groups like Goldrush and Danny & the Champions of the World, music is a true calling for Robin and Joe (and indeed for drummer Jamie Dawson), as the song lyric states: "we do it 'cos we must, 'cause we need this the most." The flip is a new track, Friend You're On Your Own, recorded as part of the album sessions. The song is propelled by rootsy guitar and percussion and boasts another huge chorus about the power of music, tying it thematically to Brothers in Brooklyn: "friend, I suppose that the songs we sing will mean everything in the end". If you have enjoyed the band's output so far, you will love this track and need it in your collection! The Dreaming Spires are believers in the power of their songs, and many others are picking up on them too; this summer they will be appearing at a number of top festivals as well as playing a London special and recording a session for broadcasting legend Bob Harris. The Dreaming Spires - Still Believe In You // The Crypt Sessions

Don't forget to subscribe for more Crypt Sessions: http://bit.ly/cryptsessionssubscribe The Dreaming Spires perform 'Still Believe In You' for The Crypt Sessions.
