North Sea Oil - 1975
At Dyce near Aberdeen, Her Majesty the Queen presses the button that sends the first North Sea Oil flowing into the Grangemouth Refinery. It marks the fruition of years of research, technology, hard work and grim determination. From the Forties Field by under sea pipeline, a marvel itself in engineering, the oil comes ashore at Cruden Bay. It travels then by underground pipes to the BP Refinery at Grangemouth. To the people of Aberdeen oil has already meant a change in their life style, could it also be the turning point in Britain's economy. ConocoPhillips exits UK oil and gas production in huge North Sea sale
Our videos are made by the latest news in the world. Do you enjoy the video? Find it helpful? Want to view more? Why not subscribe our channel to save you searching next time http://bit.ly/2FRmyPR ? Thank you so much!ConocoPhillips on Thursday announced it has struck an agreement to sell its U.K. oil and gas operations for nearly $2.7 billion, setting up its exit from the North Sea. The Houston-based driller will sell its ConocoPhillips United Kingdom subsidiaries for $2.675 billion to Chrysaor E&P, a company focused on producing oil and natural gas from the North Sea. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2019. The deal is the largest transaction in the exploration and production space outside the U.S. this year, according to investment bank Jefferies, which acted as Chrysaor's financial advisor. Shares of ConocoPhillips were slightly higher in morning trading. ConocoPhillips has been marketing the assets for several months. The company will retain its commercial trading business in London and its roughly 40% interest in the Teesside oil terminal. It will also continue to operate the terminal, which receives oil and gas from the North Sea fields. "We are extremely proud of the legacy we've built in the U.K. over the last 50 years and are pleased that Chrysaor recognizes the value of this business," ConocoPhillips Chairman and CEO Ryan Lance said in a statement. "This disposition is part of our ongoing effort to hone our portfolio and focus our investments across future low cost of supply opportunities." Earlier this year, Conoco's chief operating officer, Matthew Fox, said the company's major portfolio restructuring was essentially complete, with the exception of the North Sea sale. The company earned nearly $1.1 billion on dispositions in 2018. The deal makes Chrysaor one of the largest producers in the U.K. North Sea. Chrysaor will pick up offshore assets that produced about 72,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. That increases its pro forma 2018 output to about 177,000 boepd of oil and gas. The company will take control of two major offshore production hubs, Britannia and J‐Block, and ConocoPhillips' stake in the Clair Field area. "This significant acquisition reflects our continuing belief that the UK North Sea has material future potential for oil and gas production," Chrysaor CEO and former Hess executive Phil Kirk said in a statement. The transaction continues a trend of major oil companies exiting the North Sea and placing the region in the hands of private equity-backed independent drillers.

Decommissioning in the North Sea
From the smallest Perenco Victor platform to the largest Shell Brent platforms, decommissioning in the North Sea will range from as few as 3 years to 20+ years. We expect at least 140 fields will cease production over the next 5 years, with a total of £55 billion (real terms) to be spent on decommissioning the UK Continental Shelf. With as many as 50 fields forecast to cease in 2016 alone, will new investment materialise or will the North Sea enter a new decommissioning phase? http://www.woodmac.com/analysis/mission-decommission-the-north-sea

Learn Oil and Gas with Animations
- Like our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oilvips - Oil and gas are generated from a source rock, organic matter buried in the depths of the earth. Once formed, they climb back towards the surface. On their way, cap rocks can impede their progress and they accumulate in reservoir rocks. Here they constitute hydrocarbon fields, which can be identified by interpreting seismic data (a sort of echography). The data is obtained with the help of a seismic ship. To confirm the interpretations of seismic data, two types of drilling gear exist. Each is adapted to a range of depth of water (down to more than 2500 meters). The platform seen here is a semi-submersible, which floats and retains its stabilised position by means of anchors fixed on the seabed. Platforms at sea are used not only for drilling but also for the production of hydrocarbons. This production consists of the separation of oil, gas and water, before the oil and gas is taken by pipeline towards a mainland terminal. Where it is impossible or too expensive to link the field to the coast by a pipeline, an FPSO ship is used (Floating Production Storage and Offloading barge). Onboard, the hydrocarbons and the water are separated. The oil is stored prior to being loaded on tankers and the gas is re-injected into the reservoir rocks. Gas from a field is taken to land through an underground gasoduct to a processing plant. There, if the gas is to be transported by sea, it is converted into liquid obtained by cooling it down to --163°C. When it arrives at the plant terminal, the liquid natural gas (LNG) is returned to its gaseous state in a re-gasification plant, before being introduced into the local gasoduct network. The LNG is stored in tanks before re-gasification. The crude oil is transported in a petroleum tanker, the capacity of which can attain 200 000 tons. It is commonly called a "super- tanker". The terminals capable of receiving such giants are few and far between. The ships used to transport the crude oil produced on an FPSO ship are of a much smaller capacity. The crude oil, before being refined, is stored in the port in the large capacity tanks. The natural gas is preserved in reservoirs (artificial or natural). It is ready to be injected by pumping into the gasoduct network for industrial and domestic use or as fuel in power-generating stations. As far as the crude oil goes, it is transported by oleoduct to the refinery. There it undergoes a number of transformations and blending. A variety of finished products are obtained (LPG, petrol, kerosene, diesel ...), or naphtha, which will be used as the basis for the composition of plastic products by complex petroleum chemistry. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like our Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oilvips Twitter: https://twitter.com/oilvips And Don't forget to subscribe to our channel

Holland's Barriers to The Sea
The Delta Works in the Netherlands (Holland) is the largest flood protection project in the world. This project consists of a number of surge barriers, for examples: 1- The Oosterscheldekering is the largest of the 13 ambitious Delta Works series of dams and storm surge barriers and it is the largest surge barrier in the world, 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) long. The dam is based on 65 concrete pillars with 62 steel doors, each 42 metres wide. It is designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea. 2- The Maeslantkering is a storm barrier with two movable arms; when the arms are open the waterway remains an important shipping route however when the arms close a protective storm barrier is formed for the city of Rotterdam. Closing the arms of the barrier is a completely automated process done without human intervention. Royal Dutch Shell Trying to Stop Oil Leak in North Sea
Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE:RDS.A) is trying to stop an oil spill leak in the North Sea. In the first phase of the operation to shut down the leak, engineers have lowered five giant concrete "blankets" on to a stretch of pipeline to place it back on the seabed after it lifted 4 feet off the sea floor. Work is ongoing to lay concrete blankets to secure the pipeline, Shell spokesman Steve Harris said. "First, we have to make a risk assessment ... to make sure that we can find a safe way to shut it off. We expect the result of the risk assessment very quickly and then divers will go down 300 feet (90 meters) and turn off the remaining amount of oil that is leaking into the sea." Nearly 1,300 barrels of oil has leaked from its Gannet Alpha platform since August 12. Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE:RDS.A) has a potential upside of 32.6% based on a current price of $63.21 and an average consensus analyst price target of $83.83.

Made in Germany | Boomtown - Aberdeen's got Oil Fever
North Sea oil has made the Scottish city of Aberdeen into a boomtown. Its fortunes rise and fall with the price of crude. Drilling platforms spike up just of the coast. They are owned by major oil companies like BP, Shell and Total. In the city itself are some 900 companies that supply the oil industry. Every seventh Aberdeen works in an oil-related job. The companies here have learned how to cope with fluctuations in the industry. But with oil prices breaking one record after another at the moment, they can barely keep up. Supply ships are jammed up in the port and extraction is running at full-tilt, leaving the town hungry for workers. We went to Aberdeen to see what it's like. A report from Claudia Laszczak.

The 5 Largest Offshore Platforms of the World
Offshore platforms are remarkable engineering feats, therefor it is time for the 5 largest offshore platforms of the world! Massive in size, these structures take several years and often many billions of dollars to build — but when complete, they can extract oil and gas from some of the least-accessible spots on the planet. The Mars B/Olympus Platform in the Gulf of Mexico First oil production begun in February 2014 from the Mars B development through Olympus, Shell’s seventh, and largest, floating deep-water platform in the Gulf of Mexico. Combined production from Olympus and Shell’s original Mars platform is expected to deliver an estimated resource base of 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe). The project is also directly investing $5 million dollars in community, social and environmental initiatives with the aim to benefit the communities of the US Gulf Coast, as well as in South Korea, where the hull of the Olympus platform was built. Olympus sailing into the Gulf of Mexico Olympus sailing into the Gulf of Mexico The Hibernia Platform in the Canadian Atlantic Hibernia is an oil field in the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately 315 kilometres (196 mi) east-southeast of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, in 80 m of water. The production platform Hibernia is the world’s largest oil platform (by weight) and consists of a 37,000 t (41,000 short tons) integrated topsides facility mounted on a 600,000 t (660,000 short tons) gravity base structure. The platform was towed to its final site, and 450,000 t (500,000 short tons) of solid ballast were added to secure it in place. Inside the gravity base structure are storage tanks for 1.2 million barrels (190,000 m3) of crude oil. The Hibernia Platform in the Canadian Atlantic The Hibernia Platform in the Canadian Atlantic The Petronius Platform in the Gulf of Mexico Petronius is a deepwater compliant tower oil platform operated by Chevron Corporation and Marathon Oil in the Gulf of Mexico, 210 km southeast of New Orleans, United States. A compliant piled tower design, it is 609.9 metres (2,001 ft) high, and was arguably the tallest free-standing structure in the world, until surpassed by the Burj Khalifa in 2010, although this claim is disputed since only 75 metres of the platform are above water. The multi-deck topsides are 64 metres by 43 metres by 18.3 metres high and hold 21 well slots, and the entire structure weighs around 43,000 tons. Around 8,000 m3 (50,000 barrels) of oil and 2,000,000 m3 (70 million cubic feet) of natural gas are extracted daily by the platform. The jacket supports topsides weighing 7,500t. The jacket supports topsides weighing 7,500t. The Perdido Platform in the Gulf of Mexico Perdido is the world’s deepest spar, and the second-deepest oil and gas production hub after Shell’s Stones development. Moored in around 2,450 metres (8,000 feet) of water in the US Gulf of Mexico, Perdido started production in 2010, opening up a new frontier in deep-water oil and gas recovery. The Perdido Platform in the Gulf of Mexico The Perdido Platform in the Gulf of Mexico The Berkut Platform in the Sea of Okhotsk on the Russian Pacific Coast Russia’s Rosneft and America’s ExxonMobil have launched a unique drilling platform in the Okhotsk Sea in Russia’s Far East. The world’s most powerful rig can drill within the radius of at least 7 kilometers. The drilling platform can withstand a 9 magnitude earthquake, waves of up to 18 meters and temperatures down to minus 44 degrees Celsius, Rosneft President Igor Sechin said.
