Oracle LEAST Function

02:46
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-greatest/ The Oracle LEAST function is a useful function, but I don’t think it’s very well understood. It returns the least or smallest value in a set of values. You can provide the values, and use numbers or text values. The syntax for the Oracle LEAST function is: LEAST(expr1 [, expr_n]) The expr1 is the first expression to use for your comparison. Expr_n is one or more expressions to use in the comparison, separated by commas. This is optional. So how is LEAST calculated? If the parameters are numeric, the LEAST function finds the smallest number. If the parameters are characters, the function finds the earliest value if they were sorted alphabetically (using their character values). What data type is returned? It depends on the parameters you provide. It could be the same as the parameters you provide, or VARCHAR2 if the parameters are all characters. You can also use the LEAST function with dates. It’s the opposite of the GREATEST function. For more information on the LEAST function, including the SQL used in this video and the examples, read the related post here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-greatest/

Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2014/05/part-1-how-to-find-nth-highest-salary_17.html This is a very common SQL Server Interview Question. There are several ways of finding the nth highest salary. By the end of this video, we will be able to answer all the following questions as well. How to find nth highest salary in SQL Server using a Sub-Query How to find nth highest salary in SQL Server using a CTE How to find the 2nd, 3rd or 15th highest salary Let's use the following Employees table for this demo Use the following script to create Employees table Create table Employees ( ID int primary key identity, FirstName nvarchar(50), LastName nvarchar(50), Gender nvarchar(50), Salary int ) GO Insert into Employees values ('Ben', 'Hoskins', 'Male', 70000) Insert into Employees values ('Mark', 'Hastings', 'Male', 60000) Insert into Employees values ('Steve', 'Pound', 'Male', 45000) Insert into Employees values ('Ben', 'Hoskins', 'Male', 70000) Insert into Employees values ('Philip', 'Hastings', 'Male', 45000) Insert into Employees values ('Mary', 'Lambeth', 'Female', 30000) Insert into Employees values ('Valarie', 'Vikings', 'Female', 35000) Insert into Employees values ('John', 'Stanmore', 'Male', 80000) GO To find the highest salary it is straight forward. We can simply use the Max() function as shown below. Select Max(Salary) from Employees To get the second highest salary use a sub query along with Max() function as shown below. Select Max(Salary) from Employees where Salary [ (Select Max(Salary) from Employees) To find nth highest salary using Sub-Query SELECT TOP 1 SALARY FROM ( SELECT DISTINCT TOP N SALARY FROM EMPLOYEES ORDER BY SALARY DESC ) RESULT ORDER BY SALARY To find nth highest salary using CTE WITH RESULT AS ( SELECT SALARY, DENSE_RANK() OVER (ORDER BY SALARY DESC) AS DENSERANK FROM EMPLOYEES ) SELECT TOP 1 SALARY FROM RESULT WHERE DENSERANK = N To find 2nd highest salary we can use any of the above queries. Simple replace N with 2. Similarly, to find 3rd highest salary, simple replace N with 3. Please Note: On many of the websites, you may have seen that, the following query can be used to get the nth highest salary. The below query will only work if there are no duplicates. WITH RESULT AS ( SELECT SALARY, ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY SALARY DESC) AS ROWNUMBER FROM EMPLOYEES ) SELECT SALARY FROM RESULT WHERE ROWNUMBER = 3

Serverless Java: Challenges and Triumph

46:14
Shaun Smith, Director of Product Management--Serverless, Oracle David Delabassee, Software Evangelist, Oracle Serverless functions are hot, and developer and corporate interest is exploding! But let’s face it, although Java is one of the top two programming languages in the world, it isn’t the most popular language for writing functions—at least not yet. According to James Governor, “When web companies grow up, they turn into Java shops,” so as functions become mainstream, will Java become the dominant language for authoring functions? Can it be? This session examines the challenges to using Java for functions and the latest Java platform features that address them. It also digs into the open source Fn project’s unparalleled Java support, which makes it possible to build, test, and scale out Java-based functions applications.

Oracle Reports | How to use summary column in oracle reports | Oracle apps

05:42
In this lesson we will learn about How to use summary column in Oracle Report builder A summary report contains at least one column whose value or values consist of a summary of other data. A column that totals sales, a column that averages a list of commissions, and a column that shows the maximum amounts found in a series of purchase orders are all examples of summary columns. Summary columns are used for calculating summary information like sum, average etc,. on specific columns of a data group. This column uses a set of predefined oracle aggregate functions. Summary columns are generally preceded by CS_ to distinguish them from other columns.

DECODE and CASE in Oracle

02:00
DECODE and CASE statements in Oracle both provide a conditional construct. Databases before Oracle 8.1.6 had only the DECODE function. CASE was introduced in Oracle 8.1.6 as a standard, more meaningful and more powerful function. Everything DECODE can do, CASE can. There is a lot else CASE can do though, which DECODE cannot. DECODE performs an equality check only. CASE is capable of other logical comparisons such as != etc. It takes some complex coding – forcing ranges of data into discrete form – to achieve the same effect with DECODE. An example of putting employees in grade brackets based on their salaries. This can be done elegantly with CASE. Follow the steps given in video : https://youtu.be/QPxKAufB_eo and Learn How to use DECODE and CASE in oracle

When the secondary objects within that dashboard are containing the same type of information the same kind of context as the master form you can then use the master form kind of as a guide to set context throughout the dashboard. You can you can select specific information within the master form and you just hit a quick selector that's called apply context and what that does is cascade to the other the other dashboards assuming that they have all the same members within their definitions. What you're selecting in the master form is contained in the secondary forms and/or charts you can then see that information based on kind of the point of view or the context in master form so kind of some more some more in-depth tools hear some flexibility that we're seeing especially I think as we move towards phasing-out composite forms and moving towards dashboarding within PBCS.

Easiest, Least Expensive AR15 Trigger Job Ever!

All you need is a punch or hex wrench small enough in diameter to push out the hammer pin located in your AR15 lower. Once you push out the hammer pin, the hammer and spring can be removed from the lower. Take note of the orientation of the spring as it sits on the hammer so that you can install the new spring in the same position. Simply pull the spring off the hammer by grabbing one of the coils and pull. Install the Reduced Power Spring onto the hammer and reinsert the hammer/spring into the lower while pushing the hammer pin back into place through the lower. Be careful not to force the pin as you attempt to push it through the lower. Remember the lower is aluminum and the pin is steel, so forcibly hitting the pin or pushing harshly it may cause damage to your lower if all is not lined up perfectly. In our testing we were able to reduce the trigger pull weight by 3 pounds. Our stock trigger was measuring 7 pounds with the mil-spec hammer spring found in all Lower Parts Kits (LPK). Once we installed the Reduced Power Spring, our same trigger measured 4 pounds of pull. This is a considerable amount of reduction for such a low price. Most match triggers run well over $100. Granted, this spring does nothing to reduce the creep or "grittiness" of your stock trigger like the drop-in match triggers do, but you can come close with the additional Adjustment Grip Screw Kit. For those not wanting to spend alot of money on an expensive trigger for their rifle or carbine, the Adjustment Screw and Reduced Power Hammer Spring Kit is the way to go. Application: The Reduced Power Hammer Spring is intended for competition and recreational use only and should not be installed in any rifle used for defense or duty applications. By reducing the spring tension, the introduction of light strikes or failures to fire due to the lack of primer detonation may occur in ammunition with hard primers.
