Learn How to Use INSERT INTO SELECT Statement in SQL

06:11
Learn about using INSERT INTO SELECT statement. In SQL we can copy the data rows from one table to another table. The INSERT INTO SELECT statement copies the data rows from one table and inserts into an existing table. Both actions are executed in a single SQL statement. The source table and target table must have similar table definition that is the same columns with same data types. Any existing data rows or records in target table remain unaffected. Here are the examples showing use of INSERT INTO SELECT statements, "INSERT INTO targetTable SELECT * FROM sourceTable;" "INSERT INTO targetTable (column1, column2) SELECT column1, column2 FROM sourceTable;" We can copy all columns or specified columns from source table to target table. Select the "school" database, "USE school;" First, lets create a new students table which will act as as target table to store the data rows. "CREATE TABLE students2 ( studentid INT PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT, firstname VARCHAR(40) NOT NULL, lastname VARCHAR(40) NOT NULL, class VARCHAR(20), age INT );" Hit enter to create the table. Lets populate the 'students2' table from source table 'students' using INSERT INTO SELECT statement. The SQL statement will be, "INSERT INTO students2 SELECT * FROM students;" Lets get the data rows from 'students2' table, "SELECT * FROM students2;" And we have data rows in our new 'students2' table. jQuery case insensitive attribute selector

09:03
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/03/jquery-case-insensitive-attribute.html In this video we will discuss, how to write a jQuery case-insensitive attribute value selector. Let us understand this with an example. The following example, only selects DIV 1. This is because jQuery attribute value selector is case-sensitive. [html] [head] [title][/title] [script src="Scripts/jquery-1.11.2.js"][/script] [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('div[title="DivTitle"]').css('border', '3px solid red'); }); [/script] [/head] [body] [div title="DivTitle"] DIV 1 [/div] [br /] [div title="DIVTITLE"] DIV 2 [/div] [br /] [div title="divtitle"] DIV 3 [/div] [/body] [/html] Use the following code to make the jQuery attribute value selector case-insensitive [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('div[title]').filter(function () { return $(this).attr('title').toLowerCase() == 'divtitle'; }).css('border', '3px solid red'); }); [/script] The above script should select all the 3 divs. Now let us look at an example of making attribute contains selector [name*="value"], case-insensitive. The following example, selects only DIV 1 element. This is because the attribute contains selector is case-sensitive. [html] [head] [title][/title] [script src="Scripts/jquery-1.11.2.js"][/script] [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('div[title*="Div"]').css('border', '3px solid red'); }); [/script] [/head] [body] [div title="DivTitle1"] DIV 1 [/div] [br /] [div title="DIVTITLE2"] DIV 2 [/div] [br /] [div title="divtitle3"] DIV 3 [/div] [/body] [/html] To make attribute contains selector case-insensitive, use filter() method and regular expression as shown below. [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('div[title]').filter(function () { return (/Div/i).test($(this).attr('title')); }).css('border', '3px solid red'); }); [/script] OR [script type="text/javascript"] $(document).ready(function () { $('div[title]').filter(function () { return RegExp('Div','i').test($(this).attr('title')); }).css('border', '3px solid red'); }); [/script] The above script should select all the 3 divs. Visual Studio Keyboard Shortcuts Convert Selected Text to Upper Case - CTRL + SHIFT + U Convert Selected Text to Lower Case - CTRL + U

SQL with Oracle 10g XE - Creating Calculated Columns with SELECT

05:06
In this video I create a calculated field based off the data from an existing column. When creating a calculated column you can use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. In the video I increased a column by 10 percent, decreased it by 15 percent and divided it in half. The results are not stored in the table, but are created on-the-fly. If you need parenthesis you can use them to change the order of operations in your math calculation. This video is part of a series of videos with the purpose of learning the SQL language. 04 MySQL Tutorial for Beginners: USE, SELECT, result set, DISTINCT, ALL

12:35
In this video you will begin to code your first "SQL statements" in MySQL Workbench. The very first thing you need to do is to choose and select a database. The "USE statement" is the one you’re going to need for this purpose, and it's the very first statement you're going to learn. The second statement you're going to learn is the "SELECT statement" which is used to retrieve data from a base table. You code the SELECT keyword followed by a list of column names separated by commas and the FROM keyword followed by the name of the base table from which the query retrieves the data. A "result set" is a table of data resulted from a statement: you can think of it as a temporary table that's created within a database. Note that when you execute a USE statement alone, you do not get any results back, because a USE statement itself does not expect to have any results back. In the SELECT clause, you can code an asterisk as a shorthand to indicate that all of the rows and columns should be retrieved. By default, all of the rows in the base table are included in the result set. In some cases, that means that the result set will contain duplicate rows, or rows whose column values are identical. If that's not what you want, you can include the DISTINCT keyword in the SELECT clause to eliminate the duplicate rows. The DISTINCT keyword prevents duplicate rows from being included in the result set. The ALL keyword causes all rows matching the search condition to be included in the result set, regardless of whether rows are duplicated. The ALL keyword is the default and can therefore be omitted. Correlated subquery in sql Part 60

07:59
In this video we will discuss about Corelated Subqueries In Part 59, we discussed about 2 examples that uses subqueries. Please watch Part 59, before proceeding with this video. We will be using the same tables and queries from Part 59. In the example below, sub query is executed first and only once. The sub query resutls are then used by the outer query. In a non-corelated subquery, the subquery can be executed independently of the outer query. Select [Id], [Name], [Description] from tblProducts where Id not in (Select Distinct ProductId from tblProductSales) If the subquery depends on the outer query for its values, then that sub query is called as a correlated subquery. In the where clause of the subquery below, "ProductId" column get it's value from tblProducts table that is present in the outer query. So, here the subquery is dependent on the outer query for it's value, hence this subquery is a correlated subquery. Correlated subqueries get executed, once for every row that is selected by the outer query. corelated subquery, cannot be executed independently of the outer query. Select [Name], (Select SUM(QuantitySold) from tblProductSales where ProductId = tblProducts.Id) as TotalQuantity from tblProducts order by Name Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/01/correlated-subquery-in-sql-part-60.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/09/part-60-co-related-subqueries.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists

SQL Server deadlock victim selection

How SQL Server detects deadlocks 2. What happens when a deadlock is detected 3. What is DEADLOCK_PRIORITY 4. What is the criteria that SQL Server uses to choose a deadlock victim when there is a deadlock This is continuation to Part 78, please watch Part 78 before proceeding. How SQL Server detects deadlocks Lock monitor thread in SQL Server, runs every 5 seconds by default to detect if there are any deadlocks. If the lock monitor thread finds deadlocks, the deadlock detection interval will drop from 5 seconds to as low as 100 milliseconds depending on the frequency of deadlocks. If the lock monitor thread stops finding deadlocks, the Database Engine increases the intervals between searches to 5 seconds. What happens when a deadlock is detected When a deadlock is detected, the Database Engine ends the deadlock by choosing one of the threads as the deadlock victim. The deadlock victim's transaction is then rolled back and returns a 1205 error to the application. Rolling back the transaction of the deadlock victim releases all locks held by that transaction. This allows the other transactions to become unblocked and move forward. What is DEADLOCK_PRIORITY By default, SQL Server chooses a transaction as the deadlock victim that is least expensive to roll back. However, a user can specify the priority of sessions in a deadlock situation using the SET DEADLOCK_PRIORITY statement. The session with the lowest deadlock priority is chosen as the deadlock victim. Example : SET DEADLOCK_PRIORITY NORMAL DEADLOCK_PRIORITY 1. The default is Normal 2. Can be set to LOW, NORMAL, or HIGH 3. Can also be set to a integer value in the range of -10 to 10. LOW : -5 NORMAL : 0 HIGH : 5 What is the deadlock victim selection criteria 1. If the DEADLOCK_PRIORITY is different, the session with the lowest priority is selected as the victim 2. If both the sessions have the same priority, the transaction that is least expensive to rollback is selected as the victim 3. If both the sessions have the same deadlock priority and the same cost, a victim is chosen randomly SQL Script to setup the tables for the examples Create table TableA ( Id int identity primary key, Name nvarchar(50) ) Go Insert into TableA values ('Mark') Insert into TableA values ('Ben') Insert into TableA values ('Todd') Insert into TableA values ('Pam') Insert into TableA values ('Sara') Go Create table TableB ( Id int identity primary key, Name nvarchar(50) ) Go Insert into TableB values ('Mary') Go Open 2 instances of SQL Server Management studio. From the first window execute Transaction 1 code and from the second window execute Transaction 2 code. We have not explicitly set DEADLOCK_PRIORITY, so both the sessions have the default DEADLOCK_PRIORITY which is NORMAL. So in this case SQL Server is going to choose Transaction 2 as the deadlock victim as it is the least expensive one to rollback. -- Transaction 1 Begin Tran Update TableA Set Name = Name + ' Transaction 1' where Id IN (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) -- From Transaction 2 window execute the first update statement Update TableB Set Name = Name + ' Transaction 1' where Id = 1 -- From Transaction 2 window execute the second update statement Commit Transaction -- Transaction 2 Begin Tran Update TableB Set Name = Name + ' Transaction 2' where Id = 1 -- From Transaction 1 window execute the second update statement Update TableA Set Name = Name + ' Transaction 2' where Id IN (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) -- After a few seconds notice that this transaction will be chosen as the deadlock -- victim as it is less expensive to rollback this transaction than Transaction 1 Commit Transaction In the following example we have set DEADLOCK_PRIORITY of Transaction 2 to HIGH. Transaction 1 will be chosen as the deadlock victim, because it's DEADLOCK_PRIORITY (Normal) is lower than the DEADLOCK_PRIORITY of Transaction 2. -- Transaction 1 Begin Tran Update TableA Set Name = Name + ' Transaction 1' where Id IN (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) -- From Transaction 2 window execute the first update statement Update TableB Set Name = Name + ' Transaction 1' where Id = 1 -- From Transaction 2 window execute the second update statement Commit Transaction

Crusher of the Month: Chainlink (LINK) - Decentralized Oracles

04:58
ChainLink is the middleware that connects smart contracts with off-chain resources like data feeds and APIs. This middleware is known as oracle. With oracles, smart contracts can do payouts between two parties programmatically without any middleman. Full report by Crush Crypto: https://crushcrypto.com/chainlink-crusher-august-18/ PDF of the presentation: https://crushcrypto.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/CrushCrypto-Crusher-of-the-Month-August-2018-Chainlink-LINK.pdf Chainlink official website: https://chain.link/ Chainlink whitepaper: https://link.smartcontract.com/whitepaper Join the official Crush Crypto Telegram channel for our latest publications and updates: https://t.me/joinchat/AAAAAESrVCwzd19x1DvDOQ Download the free ICO Guide which contains 6 simple steps for analyzing any ICOs to find the winning projects: https://crushcrypto.com/youtube/ Note: This is not a paid review. We do not offer promotional or advertising services. Our content is based on our own research, analysis and personal opinion. _______________________________________ In our Crusher of the Month series we select a digital coin or token each month that we have high conviction in. Here are some reasons why we selected Chainlink (ticker: LINK) for our August 2018 Crusher of the Month: #1: Speculation that mainnet launch is getting close Chainlink is currently running the testnet on the Ethereum Ropsten testnet. The development progress can be tracked here. The team previously stated in January 2018 that the mainnet launch would coincide with the hiring of a Director of Marketing and improvement in communication with the general cryptocurrency community. In Chainlink’s website, we can see that the team has hired a Director of Marketing. Therefore, assuming that the message in January still holds true, the mainnet launch should be fairly soon. Launching the Chainlink network on the Ethereum mainnet would mean that the product is ready to use in the real world and that LINK tokens would have actual utility. It would represent a significant milestone for the project. Generally, more mature projects have a higher valuation. #2: The project is ready for more publicity Those who have been following the project know that the team is extremely low profile, even during the pre-ICO phase. Other than providing update to its technical and business development progress, the team hadn’t done any marketing at all since the beginning of the project. However, there are signs that marketing activity is starting to pick up: - The team announced on July 24, 2018 that the project’s new website is live. - The team is starting to announce business partnerships. They have only tweeted 8 times since inception, 2 of which were announcements of partnerships within the last week (with Accord and OpenLaw). With the team being more open in disclosing the partnerships that the project has entered into, we believe that they will continue the trend leading to the launch of mainnet to drive the awareness of the project as well as usage of the network. LINK token is the 60th most valuation cryptocurrency even without any marketing done by the team, which is very rare in this space. We believe the project has substantial potential when the team is more proactive in its communication after the project comes out of the development phase. _______________________________________ Disclaimer The information in this video is for educational purposes only and is not investment advice. Micros e7 Pos Create Time Periods and Auto Menus

07:26
This is Micros Pos (Point of Service) software e7 version. This is used in may small business's and restaurants around the US. In this video i will be going over how to set up new time periods and set them to an auto menu so that your workers can have ease of use of your system. Step 1: Log into your system using your Manager/Owner number and then select Configurator and log in using your user name and password. Step 2: Select your Restaurant category and select the tab labeled Menu, from her you can create a new Menu selection, in my case i created a THURS HH menu category. Step 3: Now use your selection tab and select Time Periods, This is where you are going to create a Time period for your Auto Menu, either Add New from the top middle drop down menu or simply select a time period and change the drop down to Copy and adjust the timing. In my case I copied the HAPPY HOUR and DINNER M-F, renamed them as THURSDAY HH and THURS DINNER and adjusted the times to 3:00 to 9:00 for the HH and Dinner to 9:01 to 4 AM. Step 4: Once you've done that no make sure you have the time frames selected for the days you want them to apply to in my case it was Monday, T, W, Friday for my HAPPY HOUR and Thursday for my THURS HH. Step 5: Now go to the selection Auto Menus and do the same thing just not implementing Time Periods but rather make an auto menu by adding a new one and label it what you need it to be, in my case THURS HH and THURS DINNER were created, then select the Time periods that you created for your menu to run off of in the top right portion of the options and that all set. Step 6: Now go to the system menu and select your menu items that are going to be adjusted by the time periods you set and go to Prices, once there select Menu Only for the item prices and you will see you can enter a price for the specific time on the specific menu item. repeat this for every item you need to apply it to. And there ya go you should be good to go just be sure to hit the Save icon before Exit.

List items poplist, tlist, combobox with user input A list item is an interface object that displays a predefined set of choices, each corresponding to a specific data value. You use the list item at run time to select a single value. List choices or elements are mutually exclusive; one and only one can be selected at a time. The Three List Item Styles • Poplist: Appears as a field with an iconic button attached to the right (When you click a poplist, all its list elements are displayed.) • Tlist: Appears as a rectangular box that displays the list elements (When the display area is not big enough to display all the list elements, a scroll bar is automatically attached to the right to view the remaining list elements.) • Combo box: Appears as a field with a down arrow next to its right (Use the button to display all the combo box list elements. The combo box accepts user input.) Uses and Benefits of List Items • Enable display of a defined set of choices • Display a set of choices without using a vast area of canvas • Provide an alternative to radio groups • Provide a Windows-style list of values Follow me: https://www.facebook.com/munir.du Oracle Forms 10g: Oracle Forms building menus Oracle Forms 10g: Controlling Validation Using Properties-Validate from List Oracle Forms 10g: ONETIME _WHERE clause to restrict the query only once Oracle Forms 10g: Forms Calendar in date field Oracle Forms 10g: Image items Oracle Forms 10g: Change list items at run time Oracle Forms 10g: Dynamic list item Oracle Forms 10g: Case-sensitive query and interacting with check box using trigger Oracle Forms 10g: How to create iconic button

Consolidating Models with Strategic Modeling in Oracle Enterprise Planning Cloud

04:51
This tutorial demonstrates how to consolidate models with Strategic Modeling. You start by reviewing consolidation structures to see how each business case is defined. You define the selected scenarios for each model, and whether the consolidation for the specified business case includes or excludes certain models. You then create a new business case and define the scenarios that contribute to that business case as well as which models are excluded. You also consolidate a model.

Connecting SQL Tables and data in Excel spreadsheets

03:08
For more videos on technology, visit http://www.Techytube.com By [email protected] SQL server is a powerful database platform, this means that it can also be complex to understand and work with. However the major users of the data in the database are still a non-technical business user. A key problem that most business users face when it comes to working with SQL Server is the dependency on an IT professional to query and return the data in a CSV format or Excel sheet. With the ability of MS Excel to be able to connect to SQL Server via the ODBC Drivers allows users to work with SQL tables within the familiar Excel User interface. This approach allows users to be productive with SQL Server without having to know Transact SQL. The feature set provided with MS Excel and newer versions of SQL allow business users to do much more than just query the database. These include the ability to query and view data in pivot format for large data sets using power pivot. Perform ad hoc calculations to underlying data and create models that are specific to their business case using the powerful DAX language. Embedding reports in SharePoint services using PowerPivot. We will be using Countries table in this example. SQL to create the table Create Table Countries ( Country nvarchar(50), City nvarchar(50) ) GO Insert into Countries values ('USA','New York') Insert into Countries values ('USA','Houston') Insert into Countries values ('USA','Dallas') Insert into Countries values ('India','Hyderabad') Insert into Countries values ('India','Bangalore') Insert into Countries values ('India','New Delhi') Insert into Countries values ('UK','London') Insert into Countries values ('UK','Birmingham') Insert into Countries values ('UK','Manchester') Here is the interview question. Write a sql query to transpose rows to columns. Using PIVOT operator we can very easily transform rows to columns. Select Country, City1, City2, City3 From ( Select Country, City, 'City'+ cast(row_number() over(partition by Country order by Country) as varchar(10)) ColumnSequence from Countries ) Temp pivot ( max(City) for ColumnSequence in (City1, City2, City3) ) Piv

GTAC 2009 - Precondition Satisfaction by Smart Object Select

56:50
Google Tech Talk October 21, 2009 ABSTRACT Precondition Satisfaction by Smart Object Selection in Random Testing. Presented by Yi Wei and Serge Gebhardt, ETH Zurich, at the 4th Annual Google Test Automation Conference, October 21st, 22nd, 2009, Zurich, CH A random testing strategy for object-oriented software basically constructs test cases by performing the following two tasks: 1) randomly select a method under test (MUT); 2) randomly select or construct objects to feed to the chosen method as either target or arguments. Usually, all the objects that are created for or returned by a MUT are stored in an object pool so they can be reused for future test cases. When working with OO software equipped with contracts, it becomes difficult for a random testing strategy to select objects that satisfy the precondition of the MUT. As a result some methods are never tested because all generated test cases fail to satisfy their preconditions. An evaluation of the object pool showed that the traditional strategy often misses object combinations that do satisfy the MUTs preconditions. Therefore we keep track of these object combinations during the testing process, and directly select them for MUTs. We call this the smart object selection strategy. We implemented the idea in our testing tool AutoTest for Eiffel. We introduced a predicate pool to keep track of object combinations satisfying preconditions of a certain method. All preconditions appearing in the classes under test are collected into a predicate pool. After each test case run, these predicates are evaluated against the objects that are used in that test case. Object combinations satisfying a given predicate are marked in the pool and associated with that predicate. Later, when a method is to be tested, objects satisfying that methods precondition predicates (as shown by the predicate pool) can be directly selected. This is called smart object selection. We ran this algorithm for one hour on classes with strong preconditions. Results show that the algorithm is indeed able to test methods whose preconditions were rarely satisfied by the original random testing strategy (which therefore often remained untested). In terms of number of faults, the algorithm finds slightly more than original random testing in general. In terms of kinds of faults, this algorithm finds up to 30% of faults that cannot be found by original random testing in some classes. Bios: Yi Wei is a PhD candidate in Chair of Software Engineering, ETH Zurich since 2007. He is working on software testing. Before he came to ETH, he received a masters degree in Software Engineering in Wuhan University, China in 2006. He was an intern in Eiffel Software, California, USA from 2005 to 2006. Serge Gebhardt is a MSc student at the Chair of Software Engineering at ETH Zurich, where he currently writes his MSc thesis in the area of automated software testing. He previously earned a BSc in Computer Science from ETH Zurich and has been a visiting research student at EPFL (Lausanne, CH).
