Business English Vocabulary VV 55 - Product Management English | Marketing English

07:14
Download this business English vocabulary lesson from Business English Pod: https://www.businessenglishpod.com/category/vocabulary/ In this Business English lesson, we’ll look at business English vocabulary related to product management. In many companies, product managers help promote a product. Companies do market analysis as well as competitive research in order to develop a business case for a product. A product roadmap lays out the plan for developing a product, including the go-to-market strategy and the product launch.
Basic tech skills for a Product Manager

01:16:14
We see lots of entrepreneurs struggling to explain their product in a clear and concise way. As a direct consequence, they often don't know how to work with designers and developers because they don't speak their language. The role of a good entrepreneur is to break those barriers when it comes to his product. Otherwise, he won't be able to work correctly with the rest of his team. In this workshop, we will cover all the important steps in the conception of a technical product: • Product pitch: precisely define your value proposition (we'll give lots of examples) • Mockup: make a basic mockup of your app using Sketch • Database: what's the core database scheme of your product • User stories: write and organise your user stories on Trello. As an entrepreneur, this workshop will give you a simple methodology to precisely define the product you want to build and work efficiently with developers and designers without unnecessary processes or misunderstandings. We will take lots of real-life example (Product Hunt, Airbnb, etc..) to illustrate this workshop. --- Go further with Le Wagon and learn HTML, CSS, ruby, Rails, Javascript, Github, APIs and much more 🚀 during our 2 month full-time immersive bootcamp 👉 https://www.lewagon.com/program Le Wagon is the first bootcamp bringing technical skills to creative entrepreneurs in London. New Product Development Strategies: Lead Users - Strategy Saturdays

10:42
I discuss the importance of users in new product development strategy. We often think of new product development in terms of a very linear process. However, this is not really the case. Instead, new product development occurs through a trial and error process with getting feedback from users. You first get some insight from users, then you develop a rough prototype, and then you keep iterating based on how the users react to this prototype. Why is this important to new product development strategy? What you’re trying to do is capture both your idea and see how you can get it to fit within the constraints of the market. From my perspective, this makes it is important for the new product development process to: 1. To go slow and reduce the amount of debt you take in a business. 2. Have slack resources to continuously iterate beyond your initial prototype. 3. Find the right audience for your product. 4. Relentlessly push forward until the new product fits with the market. Product Manager - 10 Essential Skills to Master (In 2019)

06:51
Product Management is a fast-growing and niche area to develop a career in. Naturally, there are some essential skills that can get you to be the very best of the lot. While the need for Product Managers is increasing by the day - in startups, tech companies and other large companies alike - the supply in India is currently only limited to a few thousands and compares poorly to countries such as the US. As per the Google and Accel Partners SAAS Report, there are roughly 36,000 Product Managers in India and the number is expected to increase to about 68,000 Product Managers by 2020. So, the need is apparent. But what does one have to do to get there? How to become a Product Manager? A common misconception is that Product Managers need to only master certain hard skills such as business understanding, tech and data. However, this would only mean the job is half done. To be a successful Product Manager you must have some soft skills too. These include communication, negotiation and leading without authority among many others. But don't worry about backgrounds, as Product Managers have been known to have diverse work and educational experience prior to making the transition into Product Management. Ravijot Chugh, Co-Founder and Product Head at UpGrad, explains in this 3rd part of the Careers-In-Shorts Series what these key skills are and how one can ace them to get on the road to being a great Product Manager. Subscribe to CUSTOMER ACCELERATOR: http://www.smallbusinesselite.co.uk/customer-accelerator/ Video transcript: Have you ever watched Dragons Den on the television? Now what you have to remember is that the people who are on the panel are successful business owners and entrepreneurs in their own right so have seen it, done it, and have a good idea what makes a good product or service. That is why they are often amazed by some of the people who pitch on the show. How often do we see a pitch about a product or service for which there will never be a demand! And sadly, more often than not, these same people have invested everything they own to 'create' this product that will never find a buyer. It's as simple as this ... if you want to make money to have to sell your goods or services to other people, your target audience. But they can only be your target audience if your goods or services match their needs or wants. Every selling proposition moves a potential customer either closer to desire or further away from pain so your products or solutions have to be tailored to their needs or wants. You should be looking at your products or services and seeing have they fit in with what your clients want and not with what you want, or your family wants, or even what your employees want. Let's have a look at some examples to illustrate the point I'm trying to make .... 1. You're a self-employed plumber who insists that your customers pay cash and there's no paper work ... your customers actually want a receipt and written guarantee with the option to pay with a debit card 2. You're a self-employed plumber who doesn't take cash, provides a receipt for all of your work, and gives a guarantee ... your customers want the cheapest possible price and want to pay cash 3. You design a rain proof coat from a special material meaning that it is dry again within minutes no matter how wet it is. Comes with a hefty price tag ... your customers are happy with an inexpensive fold away coat These aren't particularly great examples but what I'm trying to do is illustrate the fact that you can't sell what your audience doesn't want or need. So in practical terms what do your products or services do to meet the needs or wants of your target market? Are there things you could add to your service that would increase the positive experience of your customer? Actions Take a look at the products or services you offer to your customers and check ... Are you providing the ideal service or product for your customers ... for example, if you sold wood flooring do you provide a delivery service? 1. Could you improve your customers experience ... for example if you sold wood flooring could you provide videos on your website or from the manufacturer on how to fit it correctly? Could you happily recommend tradesmen who would enhance or compliment your local brand to ensure it is fitted properly thereby giving them the floor they dreamed about? 2. If you do provide 'free' delivery do you offer a discount if they take it away themselves for customers who want the keenest prices? 3. Could you create sample packs of your flooring with a deposit (to encourage them to return to your business) so that they can go home with the samples and choose the exact colour or finish they wanted? 4. Take that one step further ... could you send someone to their house (by appointment) to show them a selected range and receive advice on which way the floor could be laid to reduce costs or achieve a better finish? Final Note Don't forget, as a local business owner, the greatest source of information for all of these types of questions are your current customers. As them what they thought of your service, your products etc. What would they have been willing t pay more for and what would did they not like paying for? Answering these questions will enable you to provide a range of products or services. Again, as an example using the flooring we were discussing earlier ... Product A - discounted price on your flooring, take it away today Product A - regular price with free delivery Product A - premium price with free delivery and free fitting by guaranteed tradesman It doesn't matter what you sell or do, every product or service can have various price points and packages. Take the time to look at your business if you are providing the goods or services your customers are looking for or are they going elsewhere, to your competitors because you don't meet their needs? Robot Chefs Unlock New Product Development - APRIL Robotics Cooking Cell - OAL

Robot chefs unlock new product development opportunities for food manufacturers. OAL's APRIL Robotics team discuss the impact of food robots on food Processing NPD. Learn more at https://april.oalgroup.com/blog/can-batch-vessel-size-unlock-michelin-star-quality-in-food-processing-video Watch OAL's Development Chef and Managing Director discuss how the OAL APRIL Robotics Food Processing technology can unlock NPD (New Product Development) Opportunities in food factories. Let's look at food technology now Chris, it hasn't really, you've been around a few years, I have, nothing's really changed in the way we make these products and at some point, technology has to be able to drive a higher level of change. Now, this is a step change in terms of what we're looking at here. Why are we going to want to engage in this? Well, you need to engage with this technology because it's how far can we push the boundaries. There are a lot of people out there starting to use Steam Infusion. And, just by using that, they're producing products that can't be manufactured any other way. We've seen manufacturers out there try and fail in mimicking Steam Infusion products. Once you start looking into a system like this, it can go so much further. We can produce in the dark for any light sensitive products, we can be producing in modified atmospheres. So if we take the whole of the all the recipes that we can produce, what you're basically telling me, we've just, at the moment, we've just got a pie of the circle. And, technology helps us widen that pie. Exactly. And, the way the system works is we can add so much more as even when it might not be invented yet, it's a case of we can bolt it in and carry on so much easier than... So, technology gives us a wider product range and with this type of thing, it's scaled to match the actual demand that's coming from the consumer. Talking about recipes that have more vibrant colours, less fat and such like, and less process, it's almost like making food at home isn't it Chris. It is, it's as you would in your saucepan. This is just a slightly larger saucepan. And, everything you do at home, the way that you cook by lifting up your saucepan, taking it to your mixers, or, adding more ingredients, we can do it exactly here, we can mimic it perfectly. What is COMMERCIALIZATION? What does COMMERCIALIZATION mean? COMMERCIALIZATION meaning

04:17
What is COMMERCIALIZATION? What does COMMERCIALIZATION mean? COMMERCIALIZATION meaning - COMMERCIALIZATION definition - COMMERCIALIZATION explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Commercialization or commercialisation is the process of introducing a new product or production method into commerce—making it available on the market. The term often connotes especially entry into the mass market (as opposed to entry into earlier niche markets), but it also includes a move from the laboratory into (even limited) commerce. Many technologies begin in a research and development laboratory or in an inventor's workshop and may not be practical for commercial use in their infancy (as prototypes). The "development" segment of the "research and development" spectrum requires time and money as systems are engineered with a view to making the product or method a paying commercial proposition. The product launch of a new product is the final stage of new product development - at this point advertising, sales promotion, and other marketing efforts encourage commercial adoption of the product or method. Beyond commercialization (in which technologies enter the business world) can lie consumerization (in which they become consumer goods, as for example when computers went from the laboratory to the enterprise and then to the home, pocket, or body). Commercialization is often confused with sales, marketing, or business development. The commercialization process has three key aspects: 1. The funnel. It is essential to look at many ideas to get one or two products or businesses that can be sustained long-term. 2. Commercialization is a stage-wise process, and each stage has its own key goals and milestones. 3. It is vital to involve key stakeholders early, including customers. Proposed commercialization of a product can raise the following questions: 1. When to launch: Factors such as potential cannibalization of the sales of a vendor's other products, any requirement for further improvement of the proposed new product, or unfavorable market conditions may operate to delay a product launch. 2. Where to launch: A potential vendor can start marketing in a single location, in one or several regions, or in a national or international market. Existing resources (in terms of capital, and operational capacities) and the degree of managerial confidence may strongly influence the proposed launch-mode. Smaller vendors usually launch in attractive cities or regions, while larger companies may enter a national market at once. Global roll-outs generally remain the preserve of multinational conglomerates, since they have the necessary size and make use of international distribution systems (e.g., Unilever, Procter & Gamble). Other multinationals may use a "lead-country" strategy: introducing the new product in one country/region at a time (e.g. Colgate-Palmolive). 3. Whom to target: Research- and test-marketing may identify a primary consumer group. The ideal primary consumer group should consist of innovators, early adopters, heavy users and/or opinion leaders. This will encourage adoption by other buyers in the market during the product-growth period. 4. How to launch: Prospective vendors should decide on an action plan for introducing a proposed product - a plan shaped by addressing the questions above. The vendor has to develop a viable marketing-mix and to structure a corresponding marketing-budget.

Meaning of Product Identification in terms of Business Opportunity

01:48
Write the meaning of product identification in-terms of business opportunity? While going through the entrepreneurial process, the entrepreneur will spot an opportunity and scan the environment, This will generate idea. All the ideas, identified should be transformed into a definite product, which has good marketability. Then only the it would be termed as a business opportunity. Product identification requires obtaining a concept of the product or service, after analyzing the idea. After product identification, the entrepreneur should verify whether the product is already available in the market or not. If the product is not available in the market, they can introduce it into the market. If it already exists in the market, they should have a strong reason for releasing the same product or service into the market. Otherwise, they have to drop this idea, and start the process again to identify a new product. Thus we can say that the product identification plays a crucial role in-terms of a business opportunity.
