Hey guys, so recently some startling revelations have begun to surface, surrounding The “Qumran Caves Scrolls”... Or, as they have become more famously known, the dead sea scrolls…
Attributed by many a scholar and archaeologist alike, as one of, if not the most important, archaeological discovery of our modern age.
Many of these very ancient manuscripts were found in the Qumran Caves, very near to the once flourishing, yet now very Dead, Sea.
Although they have subsequently been unearthed in a number of sites, actually spanning the entire Judaean Desert, they have all been recovered within the vicinity of the Dead Sea.
Many thousands of written fragments have been discovered over the years, surviving remnants of a much larger body of very astonishing work. Unfortunately damaged by natural causes or other forms of interference over the millennia, the vast majority now only holding small fragments of information...
However, there does exist a small number, fewer than a dozen, which were miraculously well-preserved, still being almost intact manuscripts, which have survived the eons, out amongst the elements.
Almost as interesting as the content of these texts, has been the question of who created and cared for them. A mystery which had perplexed modern archaeology and academia since their rediscovery in 1946.
However, recent discoveries in-situe close to these very ancient texts, may have finally shed some light on this once mysterious, and clearly extremely enlightened group. A group who once decided to conceal these mysterious scrolls for some reason nearly 2 thousand of years ago, concealing them with such foresight, that many survived the immense age between their concealment, and subsequent modern discovery.
A recent excavation at one of the sites has unearthed several partial skeletons, all dating to around the same time period as the scrolls were supposedly hidden.
Cutting edge genealogical analysis, successfully isolated the remains to a small group of very ancient, very secretive and extremely mysterious tribe, we know as “The Essenes.”
Obviously now becoming the main suspects for having been responsible for the concealment of these scrolls, and indeed their possible creation.
The Essenes are believed to have been a sect of the Second Temple Judaism, a group which flourished from the 2nd century BC to the 1st century AD, which some scholars claim seceded from the Zadokite priests. Though they are believed to have been of a much fewer number than the Pharisees and other major sects at the time, the Essenes lived in various cities but shared in communal life ideology, dedicated to “asceticism,” which is a severe form of self-discipline, avoiding all forms of indulgence.
It seems that this way of life taught them some profound things, not only about themselves and the world they lived in… But apparently the future of our world, many thousands of years beyond their physical reach. An understanding which may have motivated them to leave us a gift in the form of their complete teachings, a lesson they somehow managed to place in elect locations, which enabled these invaluable texts to survive for nearly two thousand years, alone, and at the mercy of the elements.
Who were the Essenes? Were they really, as we mystery history currently predicts, able to foresee a future where their invaluable teachings, distancing oneself from destructive vices of materialism, would be desperately required?
Or was their mission a different one? Perhaps far more profound…
Until the entire texts are unravelled and deciphered, a task which may take many more years until technological development, to be capable of doing, we will have to continue to speculate as to the true meaning, and indeed real value of these ancient scrolls.
Though thankfully, our knowledge of their origins, is seemingly, fortunately, finally being established.
Taking our generation one step closer to understanding the real secrets, of the dead sea scrolls.
As always, thanks for watching guys and until next time, take care.
