I felt inspired to share my experience with Karyn Calabrese's Soak Your nuts raw vegan cleanse. I really loved and enjoyed it. I forgot to mention the hardest part for me was all the prep work I had to do for the cleanse/during the cleanse. I could honestly talk for at least an hour about this but I tried making it short :) I fucking loved it though and I excited to do it again in Jan.

Nowadays, a lot of people, even younger individuals, suffer from serious health problems like autoimmune conditions and cancer. The reasons for these diseases and conditions can be numerous. The sun is shining, your feeling happy, you cant wait to get out in to nature, swim, lay on the beach reading and snacking away on food. While in theory that sounds great, a lot of the time the reality goes more like this. You lay your towel out, its hot so you reach for the soda or sports drink, you guzzle it down and have a small bag of chips or some chewing gum with artificial sweeteners. Before you know it your feeling tense and unable to truly relax even though your in such a beautiful setting, negative thoughts can slip in to your mind and instead of having a beautiful cleansing day out in the sunshine, your stuck in your head, feeling tense, toxic and you may as well be standing in the middle of a busy city street! How can that happen? soda drinks, chewing gum, chips, all the typical 'day at the beach' foods contain a plethora of toxic ingredients, from colourings to preservatives, refined sugars, the list goes on, and it all goes straight in to your system. So instead of your body being able to soak up the beautiful relaxing vibes of the ocean, its busy trying to work out what on earth to do with all these foreign substances! Your elimination organs are hard at work trying to get them out of your body, instead of being able to focus that energy on keeping your system in balance. You can easily make sure this sort of situation doesnt happen in the future if you ensure that you take at least a litre of fresh spring water with you, some fresh fruit and veg, nuts and seeds, maybe even make your self some delicious raw desert slices, dips & salad. Not only is it far more satisfying for your taste buds, you will feel high vibes from the ease of digestion, the hydration, and the vitamins and minerals, not to mention the fact that eating more live foods means your consuming pure life force energy. And from the sound of my voice, you can tell I have a bit of a cold. Obviously, nobody wants to have some disease or cancer or some major illness. But, just getting the flu or even the “common” cold, really sucks. You feel like “junk”. You have no energy. Things hurt throughout your body. You can’t sleep well. You can’t do much of anything. And if you have to work, deal with kids and other major responsibilities -- it’s so much harder to get through the day AND it slows down the healing process. So, today I’m going to give you some simple and proven solutions you can implement right now, to help boost your immune system, to help you avoid getting sick or ill. The first thing to improving your health and immune system, is we FIRST need to reduce and stop any “leaks” you have in your life. Just like growing a business, we have to periodically audit the business, see what leaks there are, unnecessary expenses and so forth. This has to be done BEFORE you add anything to your life. #1 - Reduce Stress Stress just drains your immune system more than anything. It kills your nervous system (CNS), kills your good hormones (testosterone, Growth Hormone, etc.) and increases negative stress hormones (cortisol, etc.) If work sucks, if you have money problems, if your “significant other” is a pain the butt, if your kids are a handful and so forth -- some of that can’t be changed, at least not right away. However, you CAN get rid of loser friends that drain you. You CAN stop consuming negative information (TV, Internet, news, etc.) which creates negative feelings and thoughts and thus, bad hormones! Instead, consume information that’s happy, funny, makes you laugh and you walk away with GOOD FEELINGS. Trust me, whatever is happening in some other country, is NOT going to make any difference in your life RIGHT NOW. You certainly wouldn’t want you kids to consume negative information - so why do you? Besides, most of it is MISinformation anyway. At the very least, reduce it. The other thing is you need to replenish your system by sleeping better and/or more. Maybe take a 15 min break during the day and close your eyes, meditate, or just take a power nap. You’ll feel better, and you’ll be a lot more productive. #2 - Eat Natural Foods No vitamin or “shot” is going to boost your immune system, if your constantly “killing” it by eating crappy, processed foods. So, I’ll make this very simple - limit, reduce and eliminate things that come in box and are “man-made” and eat more natural foods. This also means liquids - stop with the junk and drink a LOT more purified water to help DETOX your system. You know the basics, so just do it. #3 - Exercise I think exercise is so important because it gets stress out of your system, it helps optimize so many positive, youthful hormones and you know what - when you LOOK good, you FEEL good and you’ll DO “good” … I know, proper English is “well”, but you get the point. Now, most people either don’t exercise enough or at all. OR they exercise too much and that stresses their body even more. My suggestion is very simple. 3x weekly, lift weights. No more than 45 minutes to a max of 60 minutes. On the other days off, 3x weekly go for a fast walk, outside in the sunshine, for 20-40 minutes. One day of the week, take off or go get a massage. This is my general guideline and if you follow it, you will look and feel better. #4 - Take Supplements I know, the minute I tell someone to take supplements, some people just freak out. They think I’ve got some hidden agenda and I’m trying to make money. MY FAT LOSS PROGRAM -- http://www.LeanSecrets.com RECIPE #1 -- Chia Breakfast Pudding This is a very filling, delicious, and lean breakfast option! It's packed with fiber, omega 3s, and healthy carbs. A great option if you like cold breakfasts and pudding (think tapioca pudding) -I used 3 Tbsp of the Qia Breakfast Cereal for this, which you can buy at Whole Foods in the cereal isle. -You can also just use 3 Tbsp chia seeds! Adding hemp seeds and buckwheat groats are optional, but make it an even more filling and delicious snack -Also add any fruit or additional spices like cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg etc. -Cover with almond milk or lite coconut milk -Allow the mixture to soak for at least 10 minutes or even overnight. RECIPE #2 -- Quinoa Yogurt Parfait -1/2 cup fat free or 2% greek yogurt -1/4 cup cooked (but cooled off) quinoa. IMPORTANT NOTE: Always rinse your quinoa really well!!! -Fruit of choice -Nuts and/or Goji Berries if you'd like -Lemon Zest and Orange Zest -Dash of Stevia -Splash of Lite Coconut Milk (make sure your coconut milk is unsweetened!) -Shake it or leave it layered, and store in the fridge or eat right away RECIPE #3 --French Toast Sticks -2 Slices Food for Life Brown Rice Bread cut into sticks -1 Whole egg and splash of egg whites whisked -1 tsp Vanilla Extract and Cinnamon -Splash of coconut milk Soak the bread into the egg mixture. Lightly spray a pan with coconut oil, and cook the sticks until golden brown on each side (approx 30 seconds each side).
