Most people skip the first two steps and go straight to strength training or use a one size fits all approach to their training. This is a recipe for disaster when you have an injury. Using tests and assessments that determine postural faults and trying to find the original cause of the injury is crucial. Most therapists use what we call an allopathic approach to treating pain by treating the area that is in pain. But I have found in my 10 years as a personal trainer specializing in Core Strength, Functional Movement and Rehabilitation that the area that affected is rarely the problem. Weak core, poor posture, repetitive movements and faulty movement patterns are usually to blame. A double hop on the landing (where the foot loses contact with the force plate) or the lack of a 3-second hold following the jump is not utilized in the analysis.
