HTML5 Basics - Display Types (Part5)

07:06
In this video we are going to talk about something inherent to html tags: display types. Display types define how the tags behave when rendered by the browser. We can use Style Sheets to change these at any time, but each tag has a default behavior and its important to understand how they will work when you are describing your page when writing the initial markup. Got that? # Three Types There are a lot, but we are going to concern ourselves with three main display styles. # Block Block level elements are big blocks, just like they sound. They are generally used to divide content, because by default block level elements begin on new lines. Block-level elements may contain inline elements and other block-level elements. Inherent in this structural distinction is the idea that block elements create "larger" structures than inline elements. An example is a "p" tag, that sections off the whole paragraph, and forces the next paragraph tag to a new line. Check out the notes below for a link to a list of all the block level tags in HTML. [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/HTML/Block-level_elements] # Inline Inline elements may contain only data and other inline elements. Where block level elements are larger structures that contain all kinds a crap. By default, inline elements do not begin with new line when rendered by the browser. An example of this would be to wrap some words in your paragraph in an "a" tag. the words become a link, but the link does not start a new line in the paragraph, or disrupt the flow of content. It just sits inline in the paragraph. When we get to styling our document, we will note that inline elements cannot take width, height, margin and padding styles. For more on that check out this link [http://www.maxdesign.com.au/articles/inline/] # Inline-block This is the strange, but handy one. An inline block is placed inline (ie. on the same line as adjacent content), but it behaves as a block. So it can take those margins and paddings and dimensions. The only tags that default to inline-block are images and buttons. But with css, later on we will see that we can change any element to inline-block if we want to. Check out the link below for more information on inline-block [http://www.impressivewebs.com/inline-block/] # Display None & Table and others... There are other default display types that all have their little display behavior quirks; like display:table, or display:none. And there are a lot of interesting display methods on the horizon in css3, but today we wanted to just talk about how the html tags cary certain display types by default.

Flexbox vs. CSS Grid — Which is Better?

04:18
One of the most commonly asked questions about CSS Grid is “Does CSS Grid replace Flexbox? Is it better than Flexbox? Should I use it instead of Flexbox?” The answer is no — we will use both Grid and Flexbox on most sites, along with flow content, floats, and other CSS for layout. This video explains the differences between Flexbox and Grid, and when to use which one.

How to : Use the css display:table-row and display:table-cell properties

05:35
Use the css display:table-row and display:table-cell properties Tables in web content are a very convenient and efficient way of displaying a lot of material in a small amount of space. Tables are also easier to read and the relationships per item can be easily seen. Table are also used for leveled display of pictures and text and if you want to learn how to use tables when you are editing a file in CSS, then this is the article for you. While other developers would actually prefer table-less implementations (since it is faster to load on some cases), easy maintenance is one of the perks of having items in tables. Looking at table-less CSS code. For one to know where to insert tables, here is an example of a piece of CSS formatting that does not use tables, but uses divs instead. id=”container” > div id=”mainContent” > Main content here Cell 1 Cell 2 In the example above you can see that there are that you are assigning values to contents of a row. There are actually two nested divs – a div within a div in the example above and to convert it into a table, it would mean having two tables as the end result. Converting divs to tables. When you want to convert the above listed code to be using tables instead of divs, then it should start to look like this: #sidebar1 { display: table-cell; width: 200px background: #FFFFFF padding: 15px 10px 15px 20px } #mainContent { display: table-cell; padding-left: 10px; } .row { display:table-row; } .cell { display:table-cell; width:400px; height:200px border:1px solid blue } If you are not sure of what colors you are going to use for the background and other content elements, you can just input them later on since the tables are there to basically form a layout and not really the design of the page. What will be displayed when you review this html file is that you will have two tables displayed somewhat like a grid. Developers prefer table displays in CSS simply because it is much easier to understand from the code alone where you will be placing the images and where you can change the value of the background color and the like. Editing the placement of the sidebar. In the past two examples, the sidebar comes first, meaning that it will appear on the left part of the screen. If you want it on the right portion of your screen then just place it after the main content, still as a sidebar, and it should be placed accordingly. There are many other tips on how to manipulate displays in CSS but this is one of the more basic ones. There is an ongoing debate on what is more efficient in terms of displaying information and there are two main schools of thought – those preferring to use divs and those preferring to use tables. Just one last note – table displays are not supported by Internet Explorer version 8 so if this browser is very high up on your priority list then you might want to continue with the div implementation instead.

CSS Table Border Tutorial - Better Than HTML Table Borders

08:41
CSS Table Border Tutorial - Better Than HTML Table Borders https://youtu.be/WrmjwNIThW0 CSS code from the video: td { border:1px solid green; border-right:none; border-bottom:none; } td:nth-last-child(1) { border-right:1px solid green; } table { border-bottom:1px solid green; } CSS table border sets a border for your tables. You can set a table order right in the HTML as well, but it's not as versatile and doesn't look as good. The options available using table borders is the same as setting borders on any other elements. But adding border's to tables can be a little tricky. By that I mean you have add borders to some table cells and table rows. For example, if you just add border:1px solid black; to all table cells you will have a double border in the internal cells and a single border around the outside. So you have to instead apply border:1px solid block;border-right:none; This will ensure that you don't have double borders, but then there won't be a border on the right side of the table. So you'll have to add border-right to just the last cells on the right of the table. It's a bit of a pain to add borders to table and it takes a bit of work, but it's well worth it. So you have a lot flexibility with table borders. A couple things are important to keep in mind. 1. Proper border order. 2. The different border styles you can apply to each side independently using the same order as in point 1. 3. The ability to add border color to each side independently using the same order as in point 1. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! Just a couple of quick tricks, from scratch, on coding up tables. We use the proper semantic tags for a table header and then set it to a fixed position so when scrolling the table the header is always visible. Then we implement row AND column highlighting with a bit of semi-clever JavaScript. Recorded July 1, 2009.

JavaScript event capturing

08:36
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/01/javascript-event-capturing.html Event capturing is the opposite of event bubbling. We discussed event bubbling in detail in Part 40 of JavaScript tutorial. With event bubbling the event bubbles up from the inner most element to the outer most element in the DOM hierarchy. With event capuring the opposite happens, the event gets captured from the outer most element to innermost element. In real world event capturing is rarely used. Let us understand this with an example. In the following example we have 3 [div] nested elements. Notice that we are using addEventListener() method to assign event handler to each [div] element. To enable event capturing we have set the third parameter (phase) of addEventListener() method to true. Now when you click on the innermost [div] (DIV3), notice that the events are fired from the outermost [div] to innermost [div] (DIV1 =] DIV 2 =] DIV 3). [html] [head] [style type="text/css"] .divStyle { display: table-cell; border: 5px solid black; padding: 20px; text-align: center; } [/style] [/head] [body] [div id="DIV1" class="divStyle"] DIV 1 [div id="DIV2" class="divStyle"] DIV 2 [div id="DIV3" class="divStyle"] DIV 3 [/div] [/div] [/div] [script type="text/javascript"] var divElements = document.getElementsByTagName('div'); for (var i = 0; i [ divElements.length; i++) { divElements[i].addEventListener("click", clickHandler, true); } function clickHandler() { alert(this.getAttribute("id") + " click event handled"); } [/script] [/body] [/html] Please note : IE8 and earlier versions does not support addEventListener() method. This implies that event capturing is not supported in IE8 and earlier versions, and hence the above code will not work in IE 8 and earlier versions. Stopping event capturing : Stopping event capturing is very similar to stopping event bubbling. With the example below, when you click on any [div] element notice that DIV 1 element handles the click event and it does not get captured down. [html] [head] [style type="text/css"] .divStyle { display: table-cell; border: 5px solid black; padding: 20px; text-align: center; } [/style] [/head] [body] [div id="DIV1" class="divStyle"] DIV 1 [div id="DIV2" class="divStyle"] DIV 2 [div id="DIV3" class="divStyle"] DIV 3 [/div] [/div] [/div] [script type="text/javascript"] var divElements = document.getElementsByTagName('div'); for (var i = 0; i [ divElements.length; i++) { divElements[i].addEventListener("click", clickHandler, true); } function clickHandler(event) { event.stopPropagation(); alert(this.getAttribute("id") + " click event handled"); } [/script] [/body] [/html] Using addEventListener() method with last argument set to true is the only way to enable event capturing. If the thid parameter (phase) is set to true event capturing is enabled and if it is set to false event bubbling is enabled. If you want both even bubbling and capturing to be enabled, then assign handlers 2 times, once with the phase parameter set to false and once with the phase parameter set to true as shown below. [html] [head] [style type="text/css"] .divStyle { display: table-cell; border: 5px solid black; padding: 20px; text-align: center; } [/style] [/head] [body] [div id="DIV1" class="divStyle"] DIV 1 [div id="DIV2" class="divStyle"] DIV 2 [div id="DIV3" class="divStyle"] DIV 3 [/div] [/div] [/div] [script type="text/javascript"] var divElements = document.getElementsByTagName('div'); for (var i = 0; i [ divElements.length; i++) { divElements[i].addEventListener("click", clickHandler, false); divElements[i].addEventListener("click", clickHandler, true); } function clickHandler() { alert(this.getAttribute("id") + " click event handled"); } [/script] [/body] [/html] With both event capturing and bubbling enabled, events are first captured from the outermost element to the innermost element and then bubbles up from the innermost to the outermost element.

JavaScript popup window

11:54
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/01/javascript-popup-window_22.html In this video we will discuss, how to open a popup window using JavaScript. To open a popup window, use window.open() method. All the parameters are optional. window.open(URL, name, features, replace) URL - URL of the page to open. If URL is not specified, a new window with about:blank is opened name - Specifies the target attribute or the name of the window. _blank - URL is loaded into a new window. This is the default value if not specified. _parent - URL is loaded into the parent frame _self - URL replaces the current page _top - URL replaces any framesets that may be loaded name - name of the window features - Must be a comma-separated list. Some of the browsers does not support these features. menubar (yes/no) - Shows or hides the browser menu toolbar (yes/no) - Shows or hides the browser navigation bar location (yes/no) - Shows or hides the address field status (yes/no) - Shows or hides the status bar resizable (yes/no) - Whether or not the window is resizable scrollbars (yes/no) - Whether or not to display scroll bars top(pixels) - The top position of the window left(pixels) - The left position of the window height (pixels) - The height of the new window width (pixels) - The width of the new window replace - Specifies whether the URL creates a new entry or replaces the current entry in the browser history. Works only if the url is loaded into the same window. true - URL replaces the current document in the browser history list false - URL creates a new entry in the browser history list No parameters are passed to window.open() method. Since URL is not specified, a new window with about:blank will be opened. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open()" /] Most modern browsers open new tabs instead of separate windows. If you want to open the popup in a new window, one workaround I have found is to specify the URL, name, and features(height and width) parameters. This may not work in all browsers and it also depends on user's browser preferences. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', '_blank', 'height=200,width=200')" /] When name parameter is set to _self, the new window replaces the current window [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', '_self')" /] Specify where you want the new popup window to be positioned using top and left features. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', 'My Window', 'height=300,width=300, top=400, left=400')" /] Disable scrollbars and resizing. Works in IE but not in Chrome. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="window.open('http://google.com', 'My Window', 'height=300,width=300, scrollbars=no, resizable=no')" /] To close pouup use window.close() method. [input type="button" value="Open popup" onclick="openPopup()" /] [input type="button" value="Close popup" onclick="closePopup()" /] [script type="text/javascript"] var popup; function openPopup() { popup = window.open("http://google.com","My Window", "height=300,width=300") } function closePopup() { popup.close(); } [/script]

Table view templates and layout options

02:28
AppGini 5.60 ( https://bigprof.com/appgini ) comes with a new way to customize the layout of the Table view. In addition to the default horizontal layout, new layouts are now supported, i.e.: Vertical (1 field per line), Vertical (2 fields per line), image to the left and data on the right, ...etc. You can also control the width of the Table view and the detail view. For tables where the table view and detail view are on the same page you could display them adjacent to each other. For more details, please watch the above screen-cast.

Ainol 10 inch LCD Writing Pad review - Under Rs. 2000 write, erase, repeat

08:17
Here is anther LCD Writing pad, the Ainol 10 inch LCD Electronic Writing pad, this one is priced at $31 approx Rs. 2000. Check this review to know more about this writing pad and also know if it can connect with other devices or not. You can buy the writing pad from Gearbest priced at $31 (approx Rs. 2000) make sure to use Priority line shipping option. However this particular pad is now out of stock / discontinued but there are many such LCD Writing pads you can buy here is the link - https://goo.gl/ayBhQ9. Also check - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWS85tHfmFk Inside the box you will get the Ainol 10 inch writing pad, user manual, a pen (stylus), stand and stickers. I had done a review of a writing pad before, that one was with a smaller screen size, this one is better in terms of size and build quality. Overall the Ainol 10 inch LCD Writing pad looks good, premium build and finishing is really good, curvy design with no sharp edges. The unique thing about this writing pad is that it comes with a erase lock button, when set to lock the erase button will not work. This lock system is really useful to avoid accidental erase button press. A button cell battery powers this writing pad. Battery life is around 15,000 erases, this will easily go on for over 1 year. The Ainol 10 inch LCD Writing pad is a simple writing pad, with black screen and whatever you write / draw on the screen is in blue. All you can do is draw / write and when need be press the erase button to erase the content. There is a app called Xpad you can download and install the same. It is just a simple app that makes use camera, i.e. when you hit the + sign the smartphone camera will open you will then need to capture image of the drawing / text you have drawn / written on the pad. Now there is no need to use the app, you can use the camera instead. Also note the writing pad does not come with any connectivity options which means you cannot connect this to any other devices so the content will never sync with other devices. Now there are writing pads that are just too simple like this one, write, erase then write again. There are writing pads that also come with option to save the content you wrote / drawn and reload the saved content on the screen - but that type of writing pads will be really costly. Rating 4.3 out of 5 This is a very good option for rough work (saves paper) and specially if you have kids you can buy one for them - will definitely save a lot of paper. Bootstrap table classes

06:02
bootstrap table styles bootstrap table hover bootstrap table condensed bootstrap table border bootstrap table responsive bootstrap table example bootstrap table striped example bootstrap table with border bootstrap condensed table bootstrap responsive table example bootstrap table contextual classes example In this video we will discuss styling tables using bootstrap classes. table class provides light padding and horizontal lines table-striped class provides zebra-striping for the table rows table-bordered class provide borders on all sides of the table and cells. table-hover class provides highlighting of rows on hover table-condensed class makes table more compact by cutting cell padding in half To make a table responsive, place the table inside a div element, and apply table-responsive class on the div element. This will provide a horizontal scrollbar when the screen size is less than 768px (i.e on a small device). On a screen size larger than 768px you will not find any difference. Applying the table-responsive class directly on the table will not do anything useful. Use the bootstrap contextual classes to colour the table rows Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2016/06/bootstrap-table-classes.html Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1

jQuery video tutorial 16 - jQuery group selector

09:42
jQuery group selector There are situations where different selectors share similar styles. To reduce code redundancy in CSS it is possible to group selectors. To create group selector; we place selectors one beside another with a comma separator. i.e. selector1,selector2,…. Note: The comma separated list of CSS selectors is called as group selector in CSS. Introduction HTML or HTML 5 Bangle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML What is HTML? HTML is the standard markup language for creating Web pages. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language HTML describes the structure of Web pages using markup HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages HTML elements are represented by tags HTML tags label pieces of content such as "heading", "paragraph", "table", and so on Browsers do not display the HTML tags, but use them to render the content of the page HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the set of markup symbols or codes inserted in a file intended for display on a World Wide Web browser page. The markup tells the Web browser how to display a Web page's words and images for the user. Each individual markup code is referred to as an element (but many people also refer to it as a tag). Some elements come in pairs that indicate when some display effect is to begin and when it is to end. HTML is a formal Recommendation by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is generally adhered to by the major browsers, Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Netscape's Navigator, which also provide some additional non-standard codes. The current version of HTML is You can download Notepad++ For Windows 32 bit Operating System :- https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.5.3.html For Windows 64 bit Operating System :- https://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v7.5.3.html Browser :- https://filehippo.com/software/internet/ HTML (the Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are two of the core technologies for building Web pages. HTML provides the structure of the page, CSS the (visual and aural) layout, for a variety of devices. Along with graphics and scripting, HTML and CSS are the basis of building Web pages and Web Applications. Learn more below about: What is HTML? HTML is the language for describing the structure of Web pages. HTML gives authors the means to: Publish online documents with headings, text, tables, lists, photos, etc. Retrieve online information via hypertext links, at the click of a button. Design forms for conducting transactions with remote services, for use in searching for information, making reservations, ordering products, etc. Include spread-sheets, video clips, sound clips, and other applications directly in their documents. With HTML, authors describe the structure of pages using markup. The elements of the language label pieces of content such as “paragraph,” “list,” “table,” and so on. What is XHTML? XHTML is a variant of HTML that uses the syntax of XML, the Extensible Markup Language. XHTML has all the same elements (for paragraphs, etc.) as the HTML variant, but the syntax is slightly different. Because XHTML is an XML application, you can use other XML tools with it (such as XSLT, a language for transforming XML content). What is CSS? CSS is the language for describing the presentation of Web pages, including colors, layout, and fonts. It allows one to adapt the presentation to different types of devices, such as large screens, small screens, or printers. CSS is independent of HTML and can be used with any XML-based markup language. The separation of HTML from CSS makes it easier to maintain sites, share style sheets across pages, and tailor pages to different environments. This is referred to as the separation of structure (or: content) from presentation. আমার সাথে যোগাযোগ করতে চাইলে :- fb page: - https://www.facebook.com/DsOnlineGroup/ fb group :- https://www.facebook.com/groups/DSONLINEGROUP/ Bangla Blog :- https://dsonline-group.blogspot.com/ English Blog :- https://earnonline-help.blogspot.com/ Twitter :- https://twitter.com/Dsonline_Group Linkedin :- https://bd.linkedin.com/in/robiul-islam-5b1b81b2 G+ https://plus.google.com/107552306707988153473 -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "HOW TO INSTALL REDHAT LINUX 7 BANGLA TUTORIAL Part =01 " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7INSOFpRTXw -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
