Naked Science - Loch Ness
Subscribe to Naked Science - http://goo.gl/wpc2Q1 Every other Wednesday we present a new video, so join us to see the truth laid bare... Naked Science investigates the truth behind the legend. The legend of the Loch Ness monster dates back 1500 years. Since then, 1000 eye witnesses, countless photographs, sonar records and films have testified to the existence of a Loch Ness monster. Yet despite extensive exploration, observation and scientific analysis, still no real evidence has been discovered. This documentary starts off charting the early history of the legend. From the first sighting by St Columba in 565AD, to the ‘Spicer’ sighting that kicked off the modern legend in 1933 and the world famous ‘Surgeon’s Photo’ from 1934 that captured what appeared to be a head and neck emerging from Loch Ness. From the ‘Surgeon’s Photo’, the press, frenzied public and scientific observers soon concluded that the creature living in the loch was a long-extinct dinosaur called a plesiosaur. A preposterous suggestion it would seem. However Naked Science profiles the coelacanth. A fish thought to be extinct 80 million years ago but discovered in 1938, to much surprise, living off the coast of Madagascar. But even if it was a dinosaur from the Triassic period, how on earth did it get into the loch? Loch Ness was gouged into today’s U shape valley by a series of glaciers that last melted 11,000 years ago, long after the extinction of the dinosaurs. Naked Science profiles the geology of the loch and examines whether the sea has ever intruded into the loch perhaps carrying an unknown creature in with it. After decades of intense observation of the surface of the loch by volunteer monster-hunters from around the world, in the late 60s Adrian Shine, skeptic, naturalist and leader of the Loch Ness Project arrived on the scene. He took a different tactic. Rather than search for a big monster, he looked for creatures just 100th of an inch in diameter, zooplankton. A monster brood hiding out in the loch would need plenty of zooplankton, to support plenty of fish, who in turn could support large creatures. Naked Science examines this ecology for clues. We also discover there are internal waves called seiches, mirages, local wildlife, large fish such as sturgeon, floating logs, boat wakes and strong winds that could all have their place in provoking monster sightings. But what of all the photographic evidence? The most famous moving image of the Loch Ness monster is the so-called Dinsdale film of 1960. At the time Britain’s foremost photographic analysis experts concluded it was an animate creature. Using high spec imagery analysis we show how the famous Dinsdale film was most probably a helmsman in a boat. Likewise we demonstrate that the McNab photo of 1955 could also be a boat wake. Naked Science reveals that the notorious ‘Surgeon’s Photo’ was actually a hoax. We show how in 1933 big game-hunter Marmaduke Wetherell planted some footprints on the loch side and passed them off as the monster. Humiliated when his first hoax was discovered, Wetherell’s revenge was the ‘Surgeon’s Photo’. In a reconstruction, we show how easy it was for him to fabricate a monster from a toy submarine and reveal how the hoax remained a secret for 50 years. Finally we look at the most unique theory by Italian geologist Dr Piccardi, that earth tremors along the Great Glen fault provoke water disturbance that are mistaken for monsters thrashing around in the water.

Sea Monster in Alaska CAUGHT on Video by U S Government ?
From Nessie making an appearance in Alaska, to the Russian's finding something extremely unsettling, this is Crypto Fun Friday ! While most people have to go searching for the Loch Ness Monster, a vacationer was fortunate enough to be gazing at the Loch … when Nessie simply popped her head out of the water … at least that’s the story we heard. A 28-year-old woman was on the balcony of her holiday home at Loch Ness when she saw a mysterious ripple on the surface, followed by a ‘blue thing’ swimming across. She grabbed her phone and managed to snap a few pictures … but when she tried to zoom in, the object disappeared. The woman claimed it’s not often one sees a monster while on holiday … but did she really see one? Here’s another potential sea monster that was caught on video … this time in Russia. What appeared to be a huge, serpent-like object in remote Lake Turgoyak (tur-goy-ak) has people making the Nessie tie-ins. A kayaker said he spotted the mysterious object causing ripples on one area of the lake’s surface. The video footage shows large black rings that conceivably resemble the coils of a snake. While the kayaker claims the object appeared to be around 15 meters long and serpentine … he also conceded the ripples could have been caused by divers training. But as it turns out, no dive teams were swimming deep in that area of the lake on that day. Aside from the obvious comparison to Nessie, we couldn’t find that many theories about what this snakelike thing might have been … Care to give it a go? Some of the clearest pictures of the Loch Ness Monster appeared earlier in 2016 … if it really was the legendary Nessie. An amateur photographer named Ian Bremner snapped the pictures that show a dark creature with a long, serpentine body bobbing along the surface of Loch Ness. The animal is estimated at around 2 meters long appears to have a tail, and and has a silvery sheen on its skin. Many sceptics point out that the animal’s head could be a seal, and the picture merely shows three of them playing in the water. But Mr Bremner has his believers … and they say the images closely resemble the most sharply focused examples of Nessie yet found. Accounts of a sea monster have been documented since the 1800s in Barmouth, Wales when footprints as big as an elephant’s were found on the beach. Subsequent accounts described the creature’s appearance as similar to a crocodile’s. WItnesses who claimed to see the creature in broad daylight in 1975 described it as having a square face with a long neck and tail, and flippers. Earlier in 2016, the first-ever photograph of the legendary beast possibly surfaced. Have you ever heard of the Morag (mor-rag)? It’s a Scottish sea monster that makes its home in Loch Morar (mora) … about 70 miles from Loch Ness. Stories of the creature date back to 1887 … and this cryptid is something of a paradox. It’s been described as having a beautiful, mermaid-like visage … but it’s also described as a demonic character whose presence was considered to portend death. According to folklore, the Morag can appear like a black heap that slowly rises in the water and moves along like a waterlogged boat. But more recent accounts describe it as a humped, serpentine creature, more along the lines of Nessie. The best known sighting occurred in 1969, when two men accidentally struck the creature with their boat. Let’s head back to Russia for this one … At remote Lake Labynkyr (la-bink-er) in Siberia, a mysterious dark creature is said to inhabit the deep, icy waters. It’s called the 'Labynkyr (la-bink-er) Devil’ … and the lake it inhabits is so secluded that no one lives within a 100 mile radius. Except for an adventurer named Andrey Solovyez, who’s keeping a vigil there.. He’s braving temperatures of -50 degrees Celsius because he’s convinced he has proof of the creature’s existence -- his fishing nets were torn and shredded by something too powerful to be a fish. Reports of a Nessie-type creature have persisted in the region since the 19th century. And according to some scientists, sonar readings do indicate that at least one huge creature might lurk under the surface. Sightings analyzed by experts conclude the creature is up to 10 meters long, with a massive jaw that has a beaklike appearance and lots of teeth. Theories include the creature being a prehistoric marine reptile such as an ichthyosaurs (itch-thee-o-sore) or plesiosaur. Another possibility is the creature being a relic killer whale that was somehow marooned in the lake. For now, scientists still have no explanation for what the kind of animal it might be. What If Cirein-Cròin Sea Monster Was Real?
What if the Cirein-cròin from Scottish folklore was real? 😱 Just be glad this monster doesn’t exist; you’d never wanna go swimming in the sea ever again! 🚷 Our world would be a terrifying place! Watch our new video for all the scary details! TIMESTAMPS: How Scottish folklore describes the Cirein-cròin 1:33 What if the Cirein-cròin was real? 3:02 What about other mythical sea creatures? 4:53 The Kraken 5:05 The Sirens 6:42 The Loch Ness Monster 8:31 Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Scottish folklore describes the Cirein-cròin as a giant sea monster. As for its exact size in feet or pounds, can’t tell ya! But the old Gaelic legend says, “Seven herrings: a salmon's fill, seven salmons: a seal's fill, seven seals: a whale's fill, and seven whales: a Cirein-cròin's fill. - What if the Cirein-cròin was out there happily swimming in the sea? First of all, forget about any beach vacation! Secondly, and more importantly, there’d be very few (if any at all) fishermen for the same reasons. - According to Nordic folklore, the Kraken mostly goes for ships, attacking vessels or simply swimming in huge circles around them to drag them down into the water. Apparently, the Kraken has a taste for human flesh just like any other sea monster. Legend says that it would devour a ship's entire crew in one deadly gulp! - The Sirens would hypnotize sailors with their sweet singing voices, making them crash their ships on the reefs near the Sirens’ cliffy islands. What followed was the sailors’ untimely demise. As for their appearance, according to Greek mythology, they were basically half-woman half-bird. - In 565 C.E. the giant monster is said to have emerged from Loch Ness Lake in Scotland and attacked a local farmer. Saint Columba, an Irish missionary, witnessed the whole thing, and just as the beast was about to take its next victim, Columba held up his hand in the sign of the cross and ordered the creature to back off. Loch Ness and its Mysterious Monster, Nessie
Loch Ness is a large, deep, freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands extending for approximately 23 mi southwest of Inverness. Its surface is 52 ft above sea level. Loch Ness is best known for alleged sightings of the cryptozoological Loch Ness Monster, also known affectionately as "Nessie". Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish loch by surface area at 21.8 sq mi after Loch Lomond, but due to its great depth, it is the largest by volume. It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined. About a mile wide at most places it is the purported home of the Loch Ness monster, a possibly mythical creature, which dwells in the Loch and is occasionally spotted by locals and passers-by. The sightings claimed lend credence to the remote possibility of a group of survivors of the long-extinct plesiosaurs (which lived up to around 65 million years ago). The Loch Ness Monster is a cryptid, reputedly a large unknown animal. It is similar to other supposed lake monsters in Scotland and elsewhere, though its description varies from one account to the next. Popular interest and belief in the animal's existence has varied since it was first brought to the world's attention in 1933. Evidence of its existence is anecdotal, with minimal and much-disputed photographic material and sonar readings. The most common speculation among believers is that the creature represents a line of long-surviving plesiosaurs. The scientific community regards the Loch Ness Monster as a modern-day myth, and explains sightings as including misidentifications of more mundane objects, outright hoaxes, and wishful thinking. Despite this, it remains one of the most famous examples of cryptozoology. The legendary monster has been affectionately referred to by the nickname Nessie since the 1940s. QUESTIONS? Giant Sea Creature caught on Tape
Loch Ness (/ˌlɒx ˈnɛs/; Scottish Gaelic: Loch Nis, [l̪ˠɔxˈniʃ]) is a large, deep, freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands extending for approximately 23 miles (37 km) southwest of Inverness. Its surface is 52 ft (16 m) above sea level. Loch Ness is best known for alleged sightings of the cryptozoological Loch Ness Monster, also known affectionately as "Nessie". It is connected at the southern end by the River Oich and a section of the Caledonian Canal to Loch Oich. At the northern end there is the Bona Narrows which opens out into Loch Dochfour, which feeds the River Ness and a further section of canal to Inverness. It is one of a series of interconnected, murky bodies of water in Scotland; its water visibility is exceptionally low due to a high peat content in the surrounding soil. Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish loch by surface area at 22 sq mi (56 km2) after Loch Lomond, but due to its great depth, it is the largest by volume. Its deepest point is 755 ft (230 m),[1][2] making it the second deepest loch in Scotland after Loch Morar. It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined,[2] and is the largest body of water on the Great Glen Fault, which runs from Inverness in the north to Fort William in the south.

German U boat 'attacked by sea monster' found on seabed off Scotland
The vessel is thought to be SM UB-85 - a U-boat which, under the command of Captain Gunther Krech, was famously caught on the surface by a British patrol boat back in 1918. Read here:http://helenastales.weebly.com/blogue/german-u-boat-attacked-by-sea-monster-found-on-seabed-off-scotland Follow us on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ufo.maniaII/ To the surprise of the British forces the Germans surrendered almost immediately. When later questioned about this, Krech explained that his submarine had been on the surface of the water recharging its batteries when it was suddenly attacked by a "strange beast."
Rare footage of the Tayport Monster in the River Tay - Scotland
I have seen the Tayprt Monster a few times and waited patiently for days to capture this very rare (or even unfilmed) footage of the monster. On asking locals of Tayport they seemed to be unaware that there is a monster in their river although rumours lead me to believe otherwise. I am glad that I believed the rumours and was rewarded with a rare sighting on THE TAYPORT MONSTER!!!!

Link to Sam's BE AMAZED Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkQO3QsgTpNTsOw6ujimT5Q STORY In folklore, the Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie, is an aquatic being which reputedly inhabits Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is similar to other supposed lake monsters in Scotland and elsewhere, and is often described as being large in size, with a long neck and one or more humps protruding from the water. Popular interest and belief in the creature has varied since it was brought to worldwide attention in 1933. Evidence of its existence is anecdotal, with a few disputed photographs and sonar readings. The creature commonly appears in Western media where it manifests in a variety of ways. The scientific community regards the Loch Ness Monster as a being from folklore without biological basis, explaining sightings as hoaxes, wishful thinking, and the misidentification of mundane objects

Scotland’s Stories: Assipattle and the Stoor Worm – Tom Muir
If you had to face an enormous sea dragon in a fight to the death would you grab a boat and row out to do battle or flee to the ends of the earth? This was the decision that faced Assipattle… Assipattle was a seventh son. His name was simply 'the Cinder Lad'. He liked nothing better than lazing around and avoiding work whenever he could. His brothers thought he was a good-for-nothing. Assipattle loved stories and he made up epic tales of heroes and dragons. Little did he know that he would have to fight the world’s largest, most evil, deadly sea-monster … the stoor worm! Scotland is home to a fair few dragons, worms and sea and loch monsters. At the edge of maps the unknown was full of weird creatures - 'Here be Dragons'. Most famous of all is Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. She is the star of books, TV and Hollywood movies. The Loch Ness Monster is a cryptid, studied alongside Bigfoot, the Yeti, Igopogo, Champ of Lake Champlain, the Bunyip and the Jersey Devil. In medieval plays in Scotland people carried fire-breathing giant puppet dragons. Scotland’s dragons and watery monsters include the Linton Worm, Morag of Loch Morar, the kelpies (water horses), the white serpent cooked by Michael Scott the Wizard, the Dundee dragon that ate nine maidens at Strathmartin, and the Maeshowe Dragon that Vikings carved in Maeshowe, Orkney, in the 12th century. You’ll even find dragons carved in stone in the 15th century Rosslyn Chapel, a few miles south of Edinburgh. © Tom Muir May be freely used within schools and early years’ centres in Scotland. Loch Ness Monster - The Surgeon's Photo
Subscribe to Naked Science – http://goo.gl/wpc2Q1 Every other Wednesday we present a new video, so join us to see the truth laid bare... The so-called “surgeon's photograph” is reportedly the first photo of the creature's head and neck. Supposedly taken by Robert Kenneth Wilson, a London gynaecologist, it was published in the Daily Mail on 21st April 1934. Wilson's refusal to have his name associated with its led to its being known as the surgeon's photograph. Although for a number of years the iconic photo was considered evidence of the monster, sceptics dismissed it as driftwood, an elephant, an otter, or a bird. The photo's scale was controversial as it is often shown cropped, making the creature seem large and the ripples like waves, while the uncropped shot shows the other end of the loch and the monster in the centre. The ripples in the photo were found to fit the size and pattern of small ripples, unlike large waves photographed up close. Since 1994, most agree that the photo was an elaborate hoax. The legend of the Loch Ness monster dates back 1500 years. Since then thousands of eye witnesses, countless photographs, sonar records and films have testified to the existence of a Loch Ness monster. A profile has gradually emerged of ‘Nessie’ having three humps, a long neck, rough-textured skin and being over 10 feet in length. Every year tourists from all over the world flock to see it. Yet despite decades of tireless exploration, observation and scientific analysis, still no real evidence has been discovered. Clip taken from the Naked Science documentary “Loch Ness”. The SM UB-85 U-Boat Sea Monster Encounter
A German U-boat supposedly said by its captain to have been sunk by a giant sea monster at the end of World War I has been discovered off the west coast of Scotland. UB-85 was found by a team working on laying an underwater power cable between Scotland and England. According to folklore, the captured captain of the submarine claimed the U-boat was attacked and disabled by a giant "sea monster". Mysterious Sea Creatures Spotted On Google Earth!

Oke Bay Creature An engineer by the name of Pita Witehira was the first person to discover a weird looking sight in the water in Oke Bay, New Zealand. Pita was researching the area when he noticed an unexplained wake that could have only been left by something huge. In fact, Pita believed that the creature that left the wake had to have been at around 40 feet long (12 m). Because of the length and width of the wake, Pita new it could not have been a shark or whale. He further states that the creature was moving too quickly and sharply in order to be a whale. Pita contacted Google, and Google told him that it could have been some type of boat. But Pita did not agree with Google. He said that there was not white foam from the boat motor. Pita then suggested that it could be a Taniwha, which is a creature from Maori mythology. A Taniwha is a creature that lives in deep pools in rivers, dark caves, or in the sea, especially in places with dangerous currents or deceptive breakers. They often live in areas with large waves and look like whales or large sharks. However, there are some that think the Oke Bay Creature is a hoax. They say if you zoom in enough in the Google image you can see a boat. It’s up for you to decide for yourself! 7.) Giant Centipede In waters close to Scotland, Google Earth captured what appeared to look like a giant centipede. The image was shot from a space satellite. If you look closely into the waters, you can see what looks like a long light-colored rope looking thing, with tiny little fibers coming out of However, this is not a large rope. If you compare an image of a centipede and the image of the possible giant centipede in the Scottish waters, they are very similar! According to theorists, this giant centipede is believed to be over 120 meters (390-feet), just swimming along, minding its own business as the image was being taken. Of course, the first reaction for many people was to wonder if this image was real or fake. People began to debate on what the giant centipede really could be, if you ruled it out. Some viewers stated that it was just a hoax while others wondered if it was a shadow from something else. There were also users that questioned if it was some type of technical glitch in the Google Earth system. Or was it Loch Ness?? Or something else? 6.) Giant Crab After a photograph of a giant crab, made its way around the internet, people began speculating whether the Google earth image was real or fake. Nicknamed Crabzilla, it is believed that the crab is about 50 feet long (15.2 m). The picture was taken off the harbor at Whitstable, Kent. It was made popular by the area’s Weird Whitstable, which is a website devoted to strange things of the area. The owner of the website, Quinton stated, "At first all I could see was some faint movement, then as it rose from the water I thought, 'that’s a funny looking bit of driftwood.” He then went on to say, "It had glazed blank eyes on stalks, swiveling wildly and it clearly was a massive crab with crushing claws.” If Crabzilla is a true crab, it will knock the 12-foot Japanese Spider Crab off the world’s largest list. But with most sea monsters, there are doubters. Sea-life expert Dr. Verity Nye, who has worked on logging new species of crab, said it is impossible one of the creatures could grow so big. While Dr. Nye admits to not knowing what the area around the harbor looks like, she does claim that it is more likely someone is messing with the image.
