Today I'm going to teach you how to price your product, or service for maximum profit. If you know your costs are X for your product or service, you got to charge more than that. You don't want to be losing money per sale. Everyone's like, oh my god I'm going to beat my competitors. I'm going to take the Jeff Bezos route and not worry about margins. Well, the reality is, unless you have a big pool of money to blow, you can't do that. You need to make sure it's profitable, including shipping, services, returns, other things like customer service, you need to take everything into account into your price, not just how much it costs for your product or service, but also all the other things like your office space. Once you include all of those things to run your business you'll figure out what you need to sell your product or service for, so you can make a profit. You're not in business just for charity. You need to make a profit and there's nothing wrong with that. The second thing you need to do is understand your target customers. What are your target customers looking for? How do they perceive value when they look at the price? A good example of this is a company called Diamond Foundry. They have figured out how to make diamonds above land. They match all the characteristics of a diamond that you find in the earth and there's really no difference from it. But they found they can do it much cheaper, by making it above land and created these machines to create the exact same composition as it does in the earth, to make a diamond. And when they had really cheap, affordable prices, they found that their sales weren't doing well. Can you guess why? It's because, everyone's like, oh this isn't the same thing, it's too cheap. So the moment they increased their prices, people like, oh wow, the quality of this must be amazing. Sure we'll buy it. There's no difference in the product, but people had the perceived value in their space, that higher price means better diamond. You need to look at your space. It could be that a cheaper price means more sales. Or it could be, cheaper price means fewer sales, because the perceived value isn't there. The third pricing strategy I have for you is anchoring. There's a lot of companies that'll show the initial price of let's say $37 and you may get X, Y and Z, but for $47 you'll get X, Y and Z and also 1, 2 and 3 and also A, B and C, just for $10 more. By using anchoring you'll find that very few people will choose a lower option, which you don't want them to choose, but the majority of the people use the higher option because you're getting so much more value for just a little bit more money. And that'll increase your profitability, especially if those other things that you're adding in don't cost you much at all. The fourth thing I want you to do is A/B test. Using tools like Crazyegg, you can A/B test your pricing, not only to maximize your sales, but also to maximize your profitability. Sometimes getting fewer sales means more profit. Sometimes getting more sales means more profit. 4 Types of Toxic Cookware to Avoid and 4 Safe Alternatives

We all know the importance of eating healthy, but not everyone knows that the cookware you use to prepare your dishes is just as important as the food itself. Even the healthiest diet can result in severe health problems if your pots and pans are toxic. Find out which cookware you should avoid by all means for the sake of your own health and the health of your family. The non-stick properties of Teflon cookware are achieved with a coating of PTFE. This is a plastic polymer that, when heated above 572°F, starts to release toxins. These toxic fumes lead to flu-like symptoms called polymer fume fever, informally known as Teflon flu. Another chemical compound found in Teflon cookware is especially threatening since it tends to stay in the body (as well as in the environment) for long periods of time. Try cast-iron cookware instead. It even comes in non-stick varieties. It doesn't leak anything toxic into your food and is actually a nice natural way to increase your body’s iron levels. Though aluminum cookware is usually coated, the coating is prone to chipping, allowing the toxic metal to get right into your food. As for aluminum foil, using it while cooking is even more dangerous. In fact, there’s an established safe amount of aluminum the human body can manage daily, and that’s 20 mg per pound of body weight a day. When you wrap your food in aluminum foil and cook it this way, the amount of this substance that leaks into the food significantly exceeds the permissible level. Consider using glass cookware instead. If you’ve just enjoyed some fish in lemon juice or stewed tomatoes cooked in an uncoated copper pot and you find yourself suffering from extremely unpleasant symptoms (such as vomiting blood, light-headedness, yellowy skin, or gastrointestinal distress, among others) call 911 immediately. Try this safe alternative instead: stainless steel. Just make sure you're buying food-grade stainless steel since this is the only type that doesn't contain any nickel or chromium. Soft ceramic coating isn't durable enough and starts chipping after a few months of daily use. When this happens, lead and cadmium sometimes found in the coating will end up in your food and, thus, in your body. Lead poisoning is one of the most dangerous types of metal poisoning and can result in abdominal pain, headaches, infertility, and other health complications. Try this safe alternative instead: 100% ceramic cookware. Elevated levels of aluminum in the body have been linked to several central nervous system diseases, including Alzheimer's and ALS. Try this safe alternative instead: glass cookware. It’ll never release anything toxic when heated, it doesn’t hold onto any old flavors or odors, and it's not only durable but also eco-friendly. -Copper cookware, especially when it isn’t coated, can easily send you to the ER with a bad case of metal poisoning. And that’s because it can release copper when you cook acidic foods. Stainless steel is a great cookware option: it's relatively lightweight, scratch-resistant, and comes in non-stick varieties. -Soft ceramic coating isn't durable enough and starts chipping after a few months of daily use. When this happens, lead and cadmium sometimes found in the coating will end up in your food and, thus, in your body. Try this safe alternative instead: 100% ceramic cookware. This is one of the best and safest options out there since it's made with completely natural materials, it isn't toxic, and it won't chip or peel off. It allows you to describe, design, challenge, invent, and pivot your business model. The Business Model Canvas is comprised of 9 key segments: The left hand section of the Business Model Canvas is the Infrastructure section and comprises three key areas: Key Activities: The most important activities in executing a company's value proposition. Key Resources: The resources that are necessary to create value for the customer. Partner Network: In order to optimize operations and reduce risks of a business model, organization usually cultivate buyer-supplier relationships so they can focus on their core activity. The middle section of the canvas describes the business offering and is the value proposition delivered to different customer segments. Value Propositions: The collection of products and services a business offers to meet the needs of its customers. According to Osterwalder, (2004), a company's value proposition is what distinguishes itself from its competitors. The value proposition provides value through various elements such as newness, performance, customization, "getting the job done", design, brand/status, price, cost reduction, risk reduction, accessibility, and convenience/usability. The value propositions may be: Quantitative – price and efficiency Qualitative – overall customer experience and outcome The right hand side of the Business Model Canvas describes the customers, the channels through which you deliver services and and the relationships you have with your customers. Customer Segments: To build an effective business model, a company must identify which customers it tries to serve. Various sets of customers can be segmented based on the different needs and attributes to ensure appropriate implementation of corporate strategy meets the characteristics of selected group of clients. Channels: A company can deliver its value proposition to its targeted customers through different channels. Effective channels will distribute a company’s value proposition in ways that are fast, efficient and cost effective. An organization can reach its clients either through its own channels (store front), partner channels (major distributors), or a combination of both. Customer Relationships: To ensure the survival and success of any businesses, companies must identify the type of relationship they want to create with their customer segments. What can be so hard about pricing a product? Don’t you just figure out what your costs are and then add some sort of markup for profit? Unfortunately, it is not that easy. If your price is too high, regardless of your cost, someone in the market will under price you, assuming that the quality of product or service is similar. In many cases, you will be a price taker and you will have to manage your costs so that you can earn a profit given a certain price is determined by the market. In most instances, you don’t price your product to cover your costs. Instead you determine, if given a certain market price, you cost structure is such that you can earn a profit. The biggest mistake small business owners make in product pricing is not considering and covering all of their costs when entering a market. It is true that when you are initially trying to penetrate a market you may be willing to lose a little money to gain market share. But that strategy is not sustainable over time. Over the long term, you must cover all you cost.

How to Select a Type of Grease (12 things about greasing you should know)

I get a lot of questions about which grease is best for a tractor. While I'm not an expert on lubrication, my opinion is, and always has been, that the TYPE of grease is a lot less important than the FREQUENCY of greasing. In 25 years in the ag equipment business I've seen countless incidences of a failure on a piece of equipment that could have been prevented with regular lubrication. I've never once seen a repair that came about because the owner chose the wrong type of grease. Truth is, for most of us who piddle around with a tractor, do some brush hogging, haul a little dirt around in the bucket and maybe use a grapple to move brush around, a good multi-purpose Lithium grease is all we need. Get one with corrosion inhibitors and oxidation stabilizers. Those additives may drive up the price a little, but they're essential, especially if the equipment is stored outside. That's what I use. If you'll be using your grease for other applications, then it gets a little more complicated. Let's say you have a skid loader or mini-excavator and you'll be using the grease for both it, and your compact tractor. Then, you may want to move to a Moly grease. Moly greases are more than adequate for light applications like small tractors, and they excel in protection when pins or bushings are under a lot of pressure as they are in an industrial application. They're not a great grease for wheel bearings. There's been a trend the last few years toward the use of Poly-urea greases. They're definitely a move up from the standard Lithium grease and are used in many sealed bearing applications. Poly-urea greases are thermally stable; high temperature situations don't affect them as they do other greases. They give great oxidation protection and weep oil at a very consistent pace. It is not, however, compatible with other greases. If changing from Lithium grease to Poly-urea, grease more often during the change to work the Poly-urea in to the system. The absolute top of the line choice for greasing is a synthetic grease. They're EXPENSIVE, but they offer superior heat protection in high speed applications. If you own a round baler or combine with lots of shafts and pulleys moving for hours on end, your owner's manual may tell you to only use synthetic greases. Because of the consistency of synthetics and their ability to dissipate heat, they're the top of the food chain in the grease world. So Step #1 Login into Instagram and open up the search/Discover feed Step #2 Search for a hashtag relevant to your business You then want to filter through the results and find users with at least 5-25k followers so they have some level of influence, and then check their page to make sure they are consistently posting about the topic that is relevant to your business. Next you want to DM the user on Instagram to see their interest in promoting your brand. If they are interested, then negotiate a number of posts that the influencer will have to put up in exchange for the product or service, and if you think that there is a strong fit between your brand and the influencer you can also consider making these people ambassadors for your brand and negotiate a long-term agreement with them. Now something to watch out for is fake followers, a lot of Instagram users have purchased fake followers or have used bots to make it seem like they have a lot more influence than what they actually have. As a rule of thumb you want to work with an influencer who is able to at least engage 3-5% of their audience each post. So if they have 10,000 followers and get less than 300 likes/comments then they might not be as influential as you think. And what benefit will your brand get from partnering with them?
