The purpose of this video is to illustrate the differences between norm referenced, sometimes called norm based assessments, and that of criterion based assessments. These two assessments types are very different, and the video aims to highlight the important differences between the two videos. The video begins by describing the difference in purpose between both criterion and norm based assessments. Next, the way each assessment is graded is differentiated. Norm and criterion assessments are far from each other in terms of the way they are graded. Norm and criterion referenced assessments are differentiated in their testing procedures and testing process. They are also differentiated in number of students tested and assessed. Criterion vs norm based assessments is part of an assessment playlist designed to help educators utilize and improve instruction for all students in their classroom. This video is also very useful for any teachers looking to get a full understanding of both criterion and norm based assessments. Many examples of norm referenced, also known as norm based assessments for educators to get a real feel of the assessment type. Lung sounds - Breath sounds Types & Causes

05:00
Here is a quick review of breath sounds heard on auscultation. The normal breath sounds are Vesicular breath sounds heard on most of the lung. It is soft and of low pitch. Inspiratory phase in longer than expiration without any pause between these two phases. Abnormalities can be presence of bronchial breath sounds, diminished or absent breath sounds, or presence of added/Adventitious breath sounds. Bronchial breathing is hollow, tubular in quality, high pitched. There is definite gap between inspiration & expiration. Added or Adventitious sounds include Wheeze, Crepitations, Pleural friction rub & Stridor. Wheeze can be Low pitched also known as Rhonchi or High pitched which is the usual wheeze. Low pitched wheeze/Rhonchi is caused by secretions in smaller airways causing narrowing while High pitched wheeze is because of Bronchospasm. Stridor is not included in this video as it is not classically a breath sound auscultated but is audible without stethoscope and is caused by narrowing/obstruction of larger airways. A good stethoscope like Litmann stethoscope is a must to pick sounds easily during auscultation. It is encouraged to listen to breath sounds (included in video) with headphones. We hope you enjoy this video ! 5 Sounds Babies Make | Newborn Cries | HQ

01:47
Sound Babies Make , Five Newborn Babies Cries , Sounds Baby Make. Five types of Newborn Cries Content by : Priscilla Dunstan Neh – The "neh" sound in the secret language of newborn basics means "I'm hungry". Apparently as a baby's sucking reflex kicks in and the tongue is pushed to the roof of the mouth the sound that comes out is a "neh" sound. Owh – The "owh" sound is made in the reflex of a yawn which means, yep, you guessed it, "I'm sleepy". Heh – the "heh" sounds (similar to "neh" so be careful that you hear the beginning /h/ sound) means discomfort. This particular of the newborn cries is to let you know that the baby is uncomfortable – cold, itchy, need a new diaper, need a new position in which to lie, etc. Eair – The "eair" sound means lower gas. It's a deeper sound that comes from the abdomen. It is a bit more difficult to distinguish than the rest but is usually accompanied by a newborn pulling his/her knees up or pushing down and out with his/her legs. Baby's body, not only his/her face, will look uncomfortable. Eh – The "eh" sound means that a baby needs to burp. It is similar, again, to "neh" and "heh" but remember that you are listening for those beginning sounds, not the ending sounds. When you hear, "Eh, ehhhhh" your newborn is telling you "Burp me, please". Comprehensive Seismic Data Analysis and Interpretation with Prestack Data

29:28
By Joanne Wang Prestack seismic data is applied routinely in the process of Quantitative Seismic Interpretation (QSI) to generate varieties of seismic attributes, in order to estimate reservoir properties such as lithology, porosity and fluid. The quality of prestack seismic data governs the accuracy and uncertainties of rock property prediction. The Paradigm QSI solution provides an integrated data repository for prestack/poststack seismic data, well data, and interpretation data. In this presentation, you will see a QSI workflow that includes: Prestack data evaluation with visualization, interpretation and analysis Prestack preconditioning for seismic inversion Prestack inversion and interpretation to identify potential reservoirs Integrated analysis of various seismic attributes, such as Poisson’s ratio, Coherence Cube and spectral decomposition, to further understand the reservoir

Well, you can, but it;s not meaningful. To see how people scored on a factor, a histogram or QQ plot would do.

If you're together for a long time and still French kiss quite frequently, then you're one of those rare couples, who were able to carry this initial passion through all these years. - Quick kissing is typical for couples, who're together for a long period of time and who've already passed the peak of their passion. However, if you usually kiss like that, it doesn't necessarily mean that you two don't love each other anymore. You're just on another level of your relationship. - Who said that physical contact should be one of the main attributes of kissing? Blown kisses can be just as alluring as all the other ones! If you and your partner frequently blow small and cute kisses to each other, that means that you both are very flirtatious and love to live in the moment. Watch the video and find out other types of kisses what they mean. And which one of these types of kissing is your favorite? Tell us in the comments! 22. Interpreting Scripture: Medieval Interpretations

49:29
Introduction to New Testament (RLST 152) The principles of interpreting the New Testament in this course assume a historical critical perspective. The historical critical method of interpreting a text privileges the intended meaning of the ancient author, the interpretation of a text's original audience, the original language the text was written in, and the avoidance of anachronism. However, for most of the last two thousand years, this has not been the method of interpretation of the Bible. Pre-modern interpreters, such as Origen and Augustine, felt free to allegorize and use the text as they saw fit. It was only through the Reformation and other events in modern history that the historical critical method became the predominant method of interpretation. 00:00 - Chapter 1. This Map Shows Where American Accents Come From

04:34
When you're traveling to another part of the US than you're originally from, it might be surprising to hear how different the locals sound. For instance, a New Yorker will likely speak the same English language in a completely different accent from a native Texan. How did Americans get so many distinctive accents? Science Insider tells you all you need to know about science: space, medicine, biotech, physiology, and more. Subscribe to our channel and visit us at: http://www.businessinsider.com/science Science Insider on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BusinessInsiderScience/ Science Insider on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/science_insider/ Business Insider on Twitter: https://twitter.com/businessinsider Tech Insider on Twitter: https://twitter.com/techinsider -------------------------------------------------- Following is the transcript of the video: NEW ENGLAND Let's start with New England, which was one of the first US regions to develop its own American English accent. Today, a speaker from New England might say "Were you gonna plagiarize the whole thing for us? You have any thoughts of your own on this matter? Is that your thing; you come into a bar and read some obscure passage and pretend...you pawn it off as your own?" NEW YORK For such a geographically small area, New York City certainly has a bunch of distinctive accents. But in general, its accents evolved from a mixture of its Dutch and English roots and numerous waves of immigration. A modern speaker from New York probably won’t sound like what you hear in movies like "Hey, I'm walking here! I'm walking here!" They’re more likely to say "Deep dish pizza is not not only better than New York pizza, it's not pizza." DELAWARE RIVER VALLEY New York’s New Jersian and Pennsylvanian neighbors sounded quite different. Nowadays, someone from Philly might say "We're a regular family. We watch Philly jawn on TV. We go down to the Jersey Shore. But when we want great hoagies, discount prices on beer, and a great atmosphere we go to Lee's Hoagies in Horsham, PA." SOUTHERN COAST Let’s take a look at what went on down south. The southern coast of the United States has a variety of different accents. One example is Southern coastal white. "What concerns me about the American press is this endless...endless attempt to label the guy some kind of kook." AFRICAN AMERICAN Other southern dialects preserved some of the original remnants to this day. "They come over here and get oysters and clam and go fishing because they're right down the road. They're right in Brunswick or Savannah or Jacksonville. Much later, a wave of African Americans migrated from the American South to urban centers in the North, mixing their accents together. "Being a kid from New York City, I mean from Brooklyn. And my aunt — God bless her soul — she used to always take me to The Rockettes — you know, the Easter show and the Christmas show." APPALACHIANS he Ulster-Scots had a significant influence on many American dialects in the South and West. Most of the original accent has disappeared, and today, an American from Tennessee might sound like this. "Now, I am just who I am. I'm not always nice. I choose to be good. I choose to have a good attitude because I want people to know. I am a girl with many colors." MIDWEST As the Appalachian settlers headed west, their accents joined with speech patterns from the North. The Midwest has many diverse accents. Today, a speaker from the Great Lakes might say "I was born in the middle of the century in the middle of the country; a classic baby boomer." Or more famously, "We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses." While another from Wisconsin/Minnesota/the Dakotas might say "If either of these men draw, I'm gonna be forced to shoot some people, and I don't want to do that." TEXAS Down in Texas, a very distinct accent developed. The famous Texan accent we know from movies like "They shot and killed a state senator named Bibs in Waco, Texas." has started to level out. Visitors to big cities like Houston might be surprised to hear something more like "Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to beautifully capture the profundity of deep southern culture." CALIFORNIA Last but not least is the West Coast, which had a very different mix of immigrants compared to the East Coast. California doesn’t come close to having one, distinct accent. A modern-day speaker might sound like "We woke up the next morning on his actual birthday. And I told him I wanted to take him somewhere to lunch for his birthday." or "What's so powerful about this novel is everyone has their own interpretation to these characters." These are just a handful of American accents...and they’re still evolving as we speak. We’ll have to check back in a century or so from now to see what happens next.

The 4 English Sentence Types – simple, compound, complex, compound-complex

15:27
Did you know there are only four sentence types in English? To improve your writing and reading skills in English, I'll teach you all about simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences in this grammar video. You'll learn how to identify the independent and dependent clauses. Don't worry, it's easier than it sounds! By learning to identify and use these sentence structures, you'll make your writing more interesting and dynamic. I'll also share many example sentences in the lesson, so you can practice with my help. http://www.engvid.com/the-4-english-sentence-types-simple-compound-complex-compound-complex/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. Welcome back to www.engvid.com. I'm Adam. Today's lesson is a writing lesson, but it's also a spoken English lesson. It's about anything to do with English, because we're going to be looking at sentence types. Now, of course, when you speak, you're using all kinds of sentence types. But, especially in writing, it's important to know the different types of sentences, because, especially if you're going to be writing tests, they want to see sentence variety. And even if you're not writing tests, anything you write, if you're using only one type of sentence, your writing becomes very bland, very boring, very hard to follow, because it's a little bit monotone. So what you need to do is you need to vary... You need a variety of sentence structures in your writing to give it a little bit more life. Okay? Luckily, you only need to know four sentence types. We have simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences, and compound-complex. Now, this is not exactly easy, but it's not exactly hard, either. If you figure out what you need to have in each one, in each sentence type, just make sure it's there. Okay? Let's start. A simple sentence has one independent clause. A little bit of review: What is an independent clause? An independent clause has a subject and a verb, and can complete an idea. It can stand by itself, because the idea in that clause is complete. I don't need to add anything else to it. Okay. A compound sentence has two or more independent clauses, joined by a conjunction. A compound conjunction: "and", "but", "or", "so", "for" (not very common), etc. So, we join two independent clauses with a compound conjunction. You can have more, but again, you have to be a little bit careful. Once you get to three, start to look for a way to finish your sentence, because if you get to the fourth, you already have a crazy sentence that has the... Runs the risk of being a run-on sentence. Eventually, you're going to make a mistake, you're going to miss something, and the whole sentence falls apart. I don't recommend three, but you can put three. Then we have a complex sentence. A complex sentence has one independent clause, plus one or more dependent clause. A dependent clause is a clause that has a subject and a verb, but cannot stand by itself. It is not a complete idea. It has some sort of relationship to the independent clause. We have three types of dependent clauses. We have noun clauses, we have adjective clauses, and we have adverb clauses. Okay? That's a whole separate lesson. You can look at that later. But you have to have one of these, plus one of these, and you have a complex sentence. Next we have a compound-complex sentence. Here you have two or more independent clauses, again, joined by a conjunction, and one or more dependent clause. Okay? So you have basically all the elements in this sentence. Then, once you have all this stuff, you can add as many complements, or basically extras, as you want. So, let's look at an example. We're going to start with the simple sentence: "Layla studied biology." Very simple. I have a subject, I have a verb, I have an object. Okay? This is a simple sentence. It's an independent clause; it can stand by itself as a complete idea. Now, I can add anything I want to this that is not another clause of any type, and it'll still be a simple sentence. So I can say: "My friend Layla studied biology in university." I'll just say "uni" for short. I have more information, but do I have a different type of sentence? No. It's still a simple sentence. Now, let's look at this sentence. First, let me read it to you: "Even with the weather being that nasty, the couple and their families decided to go ahead with the wedding as planned." Now you're thinking: "Wow, that's got to be a complex sentence", right? "It's so long. There's so much information in it." But, if we look at it carefully, it is still a simple sentence. Why? Because we only have one independent clause. Where is it? Well, find the subject and verb combination first. So, what is the subject in this sentence? I'll give you a few seconds, figure it out. Hit the pause key, look at it. Okay, we're back. Here is the subject: "the couple and their families". Now, don't get confused with this "and".
Natural Law Theory: Crash Course Philosophy #34

09:39
Our exploration of ethical theories continues with another theistic answer to the grounding problem: natural law theory. Thomas Aquinas’s version of this theory says that we all seek out what’s known as the basic goods and argued that instinct and reason come together to point us to the natural law. There are, of course, objections to this theory – in particular, the is-ought problem advanced by David Hume.
