Travelling by Water
Sea transport is watercraft carrying people (passengers) or goods (cargo). Sea transport has been the largest carrier of freight throughout recorded history. Although the importance of sea travel for passengers has decreased due to aviation, it is effective for short trips and pleasure cruises. Transport by water is cheaper than transport by air. *source wikipedia To make your kids more creative, innovative & intelligent Click on the subscription link below. http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=KidsPedia

Travelling by cargo ship? Yes, it is something that not many people think of, and something that you never imagine could happen to you. But after weeks of searching for a way to get my scooter to Batanes, I was lucky to find myself travelling on a cargo ship. In this video you will see me loading up in Sual, Pangasinan, and heading out with a working crew of 21 Filipinos towards Batanes. This was such a beautiful experience and something I will remember and appreciate for the rest of my life. I may not have been working with Filipinos on the ship, but I definitely felt like I was family with them. Batanes by boat!! Lifehacks you need to learn before going on vacation: Traveling to different parts of the world is one of the most life-changing adventures. But it comes without saying that sometimes you need some tips and tricks for your fellow travelers that will make your trips a lot easier! 1. How to save someone from drowning when they don't have a lifejacket? - Just take some trousers, tie the legs of the trousers together, then wear that around your neck with the knot on the trousers to be at the back. Then, start beating/taping on the water until the trousers become inflate and there you have it! 2. How you can have a shower outdoors using just a plastic bag. - Get a plastic bag and fill it halfway with water. Then attach a hanging clip on to it and hang it from somewhere that is high and convenient enough for you. After that, take a needle and pierce the plastic bag to until enough water starts coming out and there you have it :). An alternative way to have a shower and save more water. 3. Stop your diving glasses from steaming: - Take your lighter and place it as near to the tempered glass as you can but NOT to close in order to burn it. (Do this on the inside area of your glasses) Then wait for the glass to fill with black smoke and let it sit there for 5 minutes. After that, put some toothpaste on the inside of the glasses and using a paper towel remove the black smoke. 4. DIY underwater camera - If you've been at that place where you need an underwater camera but you don't have a phone case or something to put your phone in to protect it, then try this. Get a large drinking glass, place your phone inside upside down and start taking the best underwater pictures of your magnificent vacation 5. How to make your own swimsuit - Cool clothing hack: - You've been invited to go swimming but you don't have a swimsuit laying around. Then this one is for you. Take a pair of old leggings, and cut them into a triangle shape. Take the "legs" of the leggings that you are left with and sew them at the top. After that, the unattached side of the leggings and sew those together as well. And, there you have it. Your own, DIY fashionable swimsuit. 6. How to keep your phone, keys, and money safe at the beach: - Take your sunscreen bottle and instead of throwing it out when you've run out, try this little hack. Take your paper cutter and remove the neck of the sunscreen bottle. Then, place all your beloved items inside and then close it with the original cap of the bottle. Now you can do and do your swimming, or walk at the beach without being worries that they will be stolen. 7. If you got a nasty sunburn then try this trick: - Take your clean ice tray and fill it with some pure Aloe Vera gel, freeze it. Then take ice the Aloe ice-cube and place it on the area where you got sunburned. It will relieve the pain and help you treat the burn a lot faster. 8. If you are getting a bicycle to tour around town on your vacation then you will fall in love with these little tricks. - How to ride a bicycle when you are wearing a dress. The only things you need for these ones is a coin and a hair tie. Place your coin through the fabric of your dress and on the other side take your hair tie and wrap it around the coin and your dress as many times as possible. Then go for your bicycle ride without worrying :). - If you need to be at a place fast and you need to look at your phone to go to your destination. Then, try this. Take a thick rubber band and place it at the bottom of your phone, then pull it from the back and wrap it underneath the handlebar of your bicycle. Finally attach it back at the top of your phone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timestamps: 0:43 - Cool shower hack 2:25 - DIY underwater camera 3:05 - How to get your own temporary tattoo 4:42 - How to make your own beach bag using a towel 6:53 - How to make your own swimsuit 7:30 - Turn your beach towel into a dress 10:18 - DIY camouflage wallet for your vacation 11:42 - How to treat a nasty sunburn 12:25 - Amazing bicycle hack 13:00 - How to remove a screw without a screwdriver 14:20 - Awesome vacation hacks for the summer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/5Minute.Crafts.Girly/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/5.min.crafts/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/5m_crafts Subscribe to 5-Minute MAGIC: http://bit.ly/2ldditZ 5-Minute Crafts KIDS: https://goo.gl/PEuLVt The Bright Side of Youtube: https://goo.gl/rQTJZz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.brightside.me/ Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/

How did early Sailors navigate the Oceans? | The Curious Engineer
Do you know how the early sailors navigate the oceans? The technology today makes it real easy to navigate the oceans. But it's very interesting to know how the early sailors managed to navigate without it. There's a lot of history on it. I tried my best to compile some important and interesting parts of it into this video. Australian Couple Living on a Sailboat & Traveling the World
In this video we meet Elayna & Riley, an Australian couple living on a sailboat. Their boat, the SV La Vagabonde, is a 43.4 foot Beneteau Cyclades that Riley bought in Italy. The couple have been living on the boat for over a year, and sailed it from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, with a fairly smooth Atlantic crossing in between. Once they get their fill of the Caribbean they'll be sailing to Australia and possibly continuing on from there to do a complete circumnavigation of the globe. On board they have 2 flexible solar panels and a wind generator for power, and a water maker to turn salt water into fresh drinking water. The couple had very little sailing experience to start with but they learned the ropes quite quickly. We would be hesitant to do the same without taking some sailing courses but it seems to have worked out really well for these guys; and we love watching videos of their adventures. You can follow them on YouTube & via their blog: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZdQjaSoLjIzFnWsDQOv4ww http://sailing-lavagabonde.com You can also see a tour of their sailboat here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKm2FX9kKZ4 Thanks for watching! How much CO2 can I save by traveling on a container ship?
Comparison between the CO2 emission of different modes of travel. How much does a plane emit compared to a car, bus, train or a container ship? Using the example of a transatlantic flight I show one way to reduce my carbon footprint by choosing alternative modes of transportation for traveling. To calculate the CO2 footprint of the journey, I used the following literature: Borken-Kleefeld, J., Fuglestvedt, J., & Berntsen, T. (2013). Mode, load, and specific climate impact from passenger trips. Environmental science & technology, 47(14), 7608-7614. Miyoshi, C., & Mason, K. J. (2009). The carbon emissions of selected airlines and aircraft types in three geographic markets. Journal of Air Transport Management, 15(3), 138-147. Forster, P. M. D. F., Shine, K. P., & Stuber, N. (2006). It is premature to include non-CO 2 effects of aviation in emission trading schemes. Atmospheric Environment, 40(6), 1117-1121. Sausen, R. (1999). The IPCC Special Report" Aviation and the Global Atmosphere"-Issues Affecting Databases Requirements. Psaraftis, H. N., & Kontovas, C. A. (2009). CO2 emission statistics for the world commercial fleet. WMU Journal of Maritime Affairs, 8(1), 1-25.

It was one of two rovers of NASA's ongoing Mars Exploration Rover Mission. It landed successfully on Mars at 04:35 Ground UTC on January 4, 2004, three weeks before its twin, Opportunity (MER-B), landed on the other side of the planet. Its name was chosen through a NASA-sponsored student essay competition. The rover became stuck in late 2009, and its last communication with Earth was sent on March 22, 2010. The rover completed its planned 90-sol mission. Aided by cleaning events that resulted in higher power from its solar panels, Spirit went on to function effectively over twenty times longer than NASA planners expected following mission completion. Spirit also logged 7.73 km (4.8 mi) of driving instead of the planned 600 m (0.4 mi), allowing more extensive geological analysis of Martian rocks and planetary surface features. Initial scientific results from the first phase of the mission (the 90-sol prime mission) were published in a special issue of the journal Science. On May 1, 2009 (5 years, 3 months, 27 Earth days after landing; 21.6 times the planned mission duration), Spirit became stuck in soft soil. This was not the first of the mission's "embedding events" and for the following eight months NASA carefully analyzed the situation, running Earth-based theoretical and practical simulations, and finally programming the rover to make extrication drives in an attempt to free itself. These efforts continued until January 26, 2010 when NASA officials announced that the rover was likely irrecoverably obstructed by its location in soft soil, though it continued to perform scientific research from its current location. The rover continued in a stationary science platform role until communication with Spirit stopped on sol 2210 (March 22, 2010). JPL continued to attempt to regain contact until May 24, 2011, when NASA announced that efforts to communicate with the unresponsive rover had ended. A formal farewell was planned at NASA headquarters after the Memorial Day holiday and was televised on NASA TV. Hope you enjoyed it!

Traveling Iran by train | DW Documentary
Iran is opening its doors to foreigners and a train ride from the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea is a great way to get to know the country and its people. The travel restrictions that are now being lifted were in place for decades. Many Iranians are hoping they will now be able to lead a freer life – and we meet many of these hospitable and welcoming people on our journey through the Middle Eastern nation. The country’s most important rail link, the Trans-Iranian Railway, runs for approximately 1400 kilometers from the Persian Gulf via Teheran to the Caspian Sea. The journey starts in Khorramshahr on the Shatt al-Arab, the river border between Iraq and Iran. Traveling past oil fields, the train reaches Shushtar. One of the top sights here is the historic hydraulic system, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After that, the train heads up into the Zagros Mountains. The journey is interrupted by a break for prayer. Breath-taking landscapes move past the train window until we reach the highest point not only of our journey but of the entire rail network: 2,200 meters above sea level between Dorud and Arak. During a brief stop in Qom, travelers can refuel with sohan, a pastry made of wheat germ, flour and sugar. The next section of the track is high-speed and we continue on to Teheran at 160 km/h. The metropolitan area is home to more than 15 million people. The last leg takes us to the north of the country. In the Alborz Mountains, we find out what role the Trans-Iranian Railway played during Stalin’s major offensive against the German army in World War II. Our oriental rail adventure ends in Bandar-e Torkaman on the Caspian Sea. _______ Exciting, powerful and informative – DW Documentary is always close to current affairs and international events. Surviving One of the Deadliest Routes to Europe: Refugees at Sea
Desperate to escape conflict and poverty, thousands of migrants and refugees attempt the perilous journey to Europe each year, with many crossing the Mediterranean Sea from North Africa in rubber dinghies and wooden boats. In the wake of the decommissioning of Mare Nostrum, a search and rescue operation run by Italy, the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), launched their own vessel, named the Bourbon Argos, to find those stranded at sea and save those in trouble on one of the deadliest routes to Europe. On board the vessel, refugees and migrants are provided with medical aid, food, and shelter, then brought safely to Italian shores. Having survived life in Libya, ruthless treatment by smugglers, and horrific conditions aboard flimsy boats, once aboard the Bourbon Argos they face yet more uncertainty as they approach Europe. VICE News teamed up with MSF to document these search and rescue missions in the Mediterranean and speak to rescued refugees and migrants, hearing about the suffering they have endured in their attempts to reach a new life. The deep ocean is the final frontier on planet Earth
The ocean covers 70% of our planet. The deep-sea floor is a realm that is largely unexplored, but cutting-edge technology is enabling a new generation of aquanauts to go deeper than ever before. Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: http://econ.trib.al/rWl91R7 Beneath the waves is a mysterious world that takes up to 95% of Earth's living space. Only three people have ever reached the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean. The deep is a world without sunlight, of freezing temperatures, and immense pressure. It's remained largely unexplored until now. Cutting-edge technology is enabling a new generation of aquanauts to explore deeper than ever before. They are opening up a whole new world of potential benefits to humanity. The risks are great, but the rewards could be greater. From a vast wealth of resources to clues about the origins of life, the race is on to the final frontier The Okeanos Explorer, the American government state-of-the-art vessel, designed for every type of deep ocean exploration from discovering new species to investigating shipwrecks. On board, engineers and scientists come together to answer questions about the origins of life and human history. Today the Okeanos is on a mission to investigate the wreck of a World War one submarine. Engineer Bobby Moore is part of a team who has developed the technology for this type of mission. The “deep discover”, a remote operating vehicle is equipped with 20 powerful LED lights and designed to withstand the huge pressure four miles down. Equivalent to 50 jumbo jets stacked on top of a person While the crew of the Okeanos send robots to investigate the deep, some of their fellow scientists prefer a more hands-on approach. Doctor Greg stone is a world leading marine biologist with over 8,000 hours under the sea. He has been exploring the abyss in person for 30 years. The technology opening up the deep is also opening up opportunity. Not just to witness the diversity of life but to glimpse vast amounts of rare mineral resources. Some of the world's most valuable metals can be found deep under the waves. A discovery that has begun to pique the interest of the global mining industry. The boldest of mining companies are heading to the deep drawn by the allure of a new Gold Rush. But to exploit it they're also beating a path to another strange new world. In an industrial estate in the north of England, SMD is one of the world's leading manufacturers of remote underwater equipment. The industrial technology the company has developed has made mining possible several kilometers beneath the ocean surface. With an estimated 150 trillion dollars’ worth of gold alone, deep-sea mining has the potential to transform the global economy. With so much still to discover, mining in the deep ocean could have unknowable impact. It's not just life today that may need protecting; reaching the deep ocean might just allow researchers to answer some truly fundamental questions. Hydrothermal vents, hot springs on the ocean floor, are cracks in the Earth's crust. Some claim they could help scientists glimpse the origins of life itself. We might still be years away from unlocking the mysteries of the deep. Even with the latest technology, this kind of exploration is always challenging. As the crew of the Okeanos comes to terms with a scale of the challenge and the opportunity that lies beneath, what they and others discover could transform humanity's understanding of how to protect the ocean. It's the most hostile environment on earth, but the keys to our future may lie in the deep. Brilliant travel hacks for your next trip Travelling is one of the most magical experiences anyone can ever do! In fact, it's the ultimate life-goal - to go out exploring new places, see different cultures and gain new experiences. However, sometimes traveling can be stressful, mainly because of packing and the load of stuff we have to carry around, that's why we made this video. We wanted to help you arrange your travel essentials through a series of tips and tricks that we prepared for you in order to make your traveling less stressful and more efficient. This way you'll enjoy traveling more with less to worry about. When we first start packing our bags we immediately start folding our clothes as if we are organizing our own closet but what we've been doing is wrong. When it comes clothing folding, even though you do need to have everything organized in your suitcase you also need to maximize space and if you fold your clothes the way you have them organized in your closet this will prove insufficient. So, we prepared a few travel clothing folding tips in order to show you how to fold your clothes and maximize your suitcase space. This method will also prevent your clothes from creasing as well. For those of you who never heard of what a vacuum seal bag is, then you need to get yourselves one right away. Just like everything around us, air is everywhere, especially in breathable items such as clothes. So, in the video, we show you how much space you save when you place in a sealable plastic bag and using your vacuum cleaner you suction all the air out. Because the air gets removed from the clothes, they get 3x times smaller and you can save a lot of space by carrying more stuff with you as well. If you are planning to go swimming your traveling adventures then we have some brilliant hacks for you!. We show you how to take amazing underwater photos without even getting your phone wet. You'll simply place it upside down inside a drinking glass and then take your underwater pictures while also protecting it. Exploring the magical sea world would be impossible without having a diving mask. But most masks start fogging up after a couple of minutes of wearing them. This is because of the temperature difference on your skin, your breathing and the surrounding water. In order to help you neutralize the temperatures, you can apply some toothpaste distribute it all over the lenses and then wipe it off. Watch our whole video to discover all of our amazing traveling hacks. We also show you some cool ways to fold your clothes and keep them organized in your closet as well as some tips when you are traveling with liquids and how to pack your makeup. 25 Reasons Why Fear Of Flying Is Plane Silly
We’ve all heard it said that traveling by air is safe. Statistics more than back up this claim. However, there are still some people out there who are absolutely terrified of flying. So terrified in fact, that some people go through some major anxiety attacks just thinking of the possibility of hoping on a plane. Are you one of these people and are you about to go on a trip somewhere? Then you’ve come to the right place. Although we won’t claim to be able to rid you of your flight anxiety, we just might be able to reduce it a bit. These are 25 Reasons Why Fear Of Flying Is Plane Silly (see what we did there, fear of flying…plane silly). Follow us on: Twitter: https://twitter.com/list25 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/list25 Website: http://list25.com Instagram: https://instagram.com/list25/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/list25/ See, flying is not so scary when you are aware of these facts and statistics: First of all, there are more than 10,000 planes in the air right now There are about 100,000 passenger flights scheduled every single day That's not even counting military, cargo, air taxis, and general aviation According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, in the United States alone 1.73 million people boarded flights every single day in 2010 Actually, flying is by far the safest form of travel You are 22 times more likely to be in an accident on the way to the airport in your car than you are during your flight Actually, if you do die on an airplane, it's more likely that you'll die of a heart attack or even choking on your food than falling out of the sky To be honest, even walking is more dangerous. According to the National Safety Council walking is one of the most dangerous modes of transport in terms of fatal accidents Going back to driving and car accidents, how often do you inspect your car? If ever? Well, planes are inspected constantly. After every single flight. Turbulence is actually not dangerous. Planes are no more likely to fall from the sky during heavy turbulence than in otherwise normal conditions And lightning strikes? Most airliners get hit on average every couple years but you wouldn't even know it. Actually, you're more likely to die getting hit by lightning on your way to get into your car to go to the airport To really blow your mind, you have a greater chance of dying by falling out of your bed Ok, let's put it this way, every year hippos kill more people than planes do In 2013 three billion people flew on airplanes. That's half the world's population. There were only 210 fatalities As humans, we tend to remember the catastrophes and forget everything else, so our memories are very biased Consider that most accidents happen during takeoff and landing. And the vast majority of those accidents are anything but fatal. Furthermore, consider that planes are lining up in front of you and behind you to takeoff The runway you are on has most likely seen constant use since its construction without a single accident Your pilot and copilot and entire flight staff have flown most of their careers and will continue flying for the rest of their careers The reason that these statistics will not make you feel any better is because your brain will release stress hormones as soon as you feel that little bit of turbulence And you will quickly forget these statistics. But you know what? We'll try one more anyway. You probably think that when you get in a car crash you have a good chance of surviving but as soon as the plane starts going down you're doomed right? Wrong. Even if you do somehow manage to get in a plane crash (you won't), you will almost certainly survive. Between 1993 and 2000 there were 568 plane crashes in the US involving 53,487 people. 51,207 survived. Actually, even on the worst 26 crashes, more than half of the passengers survived. See? We told you that your fear was just plane silly. Kerbal Space Program - Travelling To Other Planets - Tutorial For Beginners
Navigating to other planets in Kerbal Space Program can be a tall proposition at first, requiring you to wait for exactly the right time to leave Kerbin so that you arrive at the destination at the same time as your destination does. Hitting a small target in a big solar system can be daunting, but, with a bit of knowledge and some tools to help find the launch windows you'll be going places in no time. For starting out I recommend http://ksp.olex.biz to let you calculate you phase angles, or Protractor Mod if you want to do this in game (no URL because KSP.com is having trouble) If you want to look at the actual theory then read about Hohmann Transfer Orbits http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hohmann_transfer_orbit

Japan's Paradise Was My Nightmare
Japan's Seto Inland Sea is the most beautiful place in the country. And the Shimanami Kaido cycle route across the chain of islands that span it, is the best way to experience it. Even if it's one brutal undertaking on par with Mount Fuji. ► BEHIND the scenes Tokyo Creative: https://bit.ly/2SE6PeF ► SHARLA's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/sharlainjapan ► WEEKLY Podcast: http://hyperurl.co/nhgr30 ► BEHIND the scenes Patreon: https://goo.gl/NWEoQm **FOLLOW THE ADVENTURE** ► Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abroadinjapan/ ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/AbroadInJapan ► Instagram: @abroadinjapan **EQUIPMENT I USE** ► MAIN Camera: https://amzn.to/2HSSdmy ► INDOOR Lens: https://amzn.to/2jyPOPm ► OUTDOOR Lens: https://amzn.to/2rnAt7O ► FAVOURITE Lens: https://amzn.to/2jwqyJm ► BACKUP Camera: https://amzn.to/2jvhILY ► STABILISED Camera: https://amzn.to/2HR3ljI Business Enquiries: [email protected] #journeyacrossjapan #traveljapan
