World Wide Magazine "Stickin' It to McDonald's"

05:57
An excerpt from World Wide Magazine, a public access TV show from St. Louis, MO. The show was created by the late Pete Parisi. This is a series of three clips that involve the WWM crew going to McDonald's and trying to make sense of things. The first is Pete and Cathy going to the fast food chain and asking the workers why a double cheeseburger is more expensive than two cheeseburgers. The second is more of the same except with Pete at a drive thru. The third is one of my favorites. It was shot at a McDonald's on Grand and Chippewa in South St. Louis. Since then, the drive thru was reconfigured to avoid the line of questioning Pete gives them and us. That location also has been the subject of some controversy involving it being moved to a nearby location. For more info. on WWM: http://www.angelfire.com/film/worldwidemagazine/

World Wide Magazine "Vince & Marty at the Chain of Rocks"

03:01
An excerpt from an episode of World Wide Magazine, a public access TV show from St. Louis, MO. The show was created by the late Pete Parisi. This segment features Vince and Marty, a famous duo of regulars from the show. They are walking across the old Chain of Rocks bridge which crosses the Mississippi River on the north side of St. Louis. It was the most famous crossing of Route 66 over the river, but because it is so narrow, the bridge closed in 1967 and was replaced by the New Chain of Rocks Bridge to its north. The bridge is now used by pedestrians and cyclists after a $4.5 million renovation. It was also used in 1981 in the film "Escape From New York" which was shot mainly in the St. Louis area for its run-down post-apocalyptic look. The clip is mainly a music video for "Ol' Man River" but includes nice shots of the river and its surroundings. For more info. on WWM: http://www.angelfire.com/film/worldwidemagazine/
