5 Biggest Tsunami Caught On Camera

10:03
5 Mega Tsunami Caught On Camera — Enjoy the video. Rate, Comment, Share... Thanx For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Tsunamis are giant waves caused by earthquakes or volcanic eruptions under the sea. Out in the depths of the ocean, tsunami waves do not dramatically increase in height. But as the waves travel inland, they build up to higher and higher heights as the depth of the ocean decreases. The speed of tsunami waves depends on ocean depth rather than the distance from the source of the wave. Tsunami waves may travel as fast as jet planes over deep waters, only slowing down when reaching shallow waters. While tsunamis are often referred to as tidal waves, this name is discouraged by oceanographers because tides have little to do with these giant waves. The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami was triggered by a 9.3 magnitude earthquake with the initial surge wave of the tsunami measuring 33 metres. It was the largest earthquake-generated tsunami in history. Certain places in the world are subject to earthquakes and tsunamis more than others as there are only seven tectonic plates covering the earth and the borders of these plates lie in certain areas. Worst Possible Weather on a Motorway - Heavy Torrential Rain

10:03
A tropical cyclone is a rapidly rotating storm system characterized by a low-pressure center, a closed low-level atmospheric circulation, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of thunderstorms that produce heavy rain. Depending on its location and strength, a tropical cyclone is referred to by different names, including hurricane (/ˈhʌrɪkən, -keɪn/),[1][2][3] typhoon (/taɪˈfuːn/), tropical storm, cyclonic storm, tropical depression, and simply cyclone.[4] A hurricane is a tropical cyclone that occurs in the Atlantic Ocean and northeastern Pacific Ocean, and a typhoon occurs in the northwestern Pacific Ocean; while in the south Pacific or Indian Ocean, comparable storms are referred to simply as “tropical cyclones” or “severe cyclonic storms”.[4] “Tropical” refers to the geographical origin of these systems, which form almost exclusively over tropical seas. “Cyclone” refers to their winds moving in a circle,[5] whirling round their central clear eye, with their winds blowing counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and blowing clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. The opposite direction of circulation is due to the Coriolis effect. Tropical cyclones typically form over large bodies of relatively warm water. They derive their energy through the evaporation of water from the ocean surface, which ultimately recondenses into clouds and rain when moist air rises and cools to saturation. This energy source differs from that of mid-latitude cyclonic storms, such as nor'easters and European windstorms, which are fueled primarily by horizontal temperature contrasts. Tropical cyclones are typically between 100 and 2,000 km (62 and 1,243 mi) in diameter. The strong rotating winds of a tropical cyclone are a result of the conservation of angular momentum imparted by the Earth's rotation as air flows inwards toward the axis of rotation. As a result, they rarely form within 5° of the equator.[6] Tropical cyclones are also almost completely absent from Earth’s southwestern quartersphere, mainly because the shapes of the African and South American continents permit the Benguela and Humboldt Currents to cover ocean basins as far north as 5˚N with excessively cool water. These powerful cold currents also produce much stronger vertical wind shear in the South Atlantic and Southeast Pacific, which typically prevent tropical depressions and minor storms there from developing into cyclones and prevent even the waters of the Brazil Current from being so hot as analogous western boundary currents or ocean gyres. Also, the African easterly jet and areas of atmospheric instability which gives rise to cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, along with the Asian monsoon and Western Pacific Warm Pool, are feature of the Northern Hemisphere and Australia. Coastal regions are particularly vulnerable to the impact of a tropical cyclone, compared to inland regions. The primary energy source for these storms is warm ocean waters, therefore these forms are typically strongest when over or near water, and weaken quite rapidly over land. Coastal damage may be caused by strong winds and rain, high waves (due to winds), storm surges (due to severe pressure changes), and the potential of spawning tornadoes. Tropical cyclones also draw in air from a large area—which can be a vast area for the most severe cyclones—and concentrate the precipitation of the water content in that air (made up from atmospheric moisture and moisture evaporated from water) into a much smaller area. This continual replacement of moisture-bearing air by new moisture-bearing air after its moisture has fallen as rain, may cause extremely heavy rain and river flooding up to 40 kilometres (25 mi) from the coastline, far beyond the amount of water that the local atmosphere holds at any one time. Though their effects on human populations are often devastating, tropical cyclones can relieve drought conditions. They also carry heat energy away from the tropics and transport it toward temperate latitudes, which may play an important role in modulating regional and global climate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_cyclone © 2017

Anthem of the Seas: Royal Caribbean ship sails through storm, passengers' worst nightmare - TomoNews

01:30
BAYONNE, NEW JERSEY — Passengers on cruiseliner Anthem of the Seas are back on dry land and thankful to be rid of their sea legs after spending nearly a week on the Royal Caribbean ship, most of which was spent enduring a storm. The ship returned to port at Bayonne's Cape Liberty in New Jersey, late Wednesday, Feb. 10, escorted by two tugboats and a Coast Guard vessel. As passengers debarked, one man was heard yelling, "free at last." The ship was carrying 4,500 passengers and 1,600 crew members when it departed Saturday, Feb. 6, for a seven-day cruise to the Bahamas. But the 1,141-foot vessel sailed into a major winter storm on Sunday off the coast of the Carolinas. Around 3:30 p.m. that day, passengers were confined to their rooms as the vessel was pounded by waves as high as 30 feet, extreme conditions that shattered glass and damaged roof panels on the ship. In a statement released Wednesday night, Royal Caribbean apologized "for exposing [their] guests and crew to the weather they faced, and for what they went through." According to the cruise line, Anthem of the Seas "sustained 120-mph winds," which "far exceeded forecasts." But, as reported by The Weather Channel, the National Weather Service's Ocean Prediction Center has released a forecast the previous Thursday, Feb. 4 – before the ship even set sail – warning of wave heights between 23 and 31 feet in the precise area where Anthem of the Seas travelled. An investigation into the incident will be conducted with the Coast Guard. "The Coast Guard will participate in an investigation that will help determine if there are any contributing causal factors or lessons learned from this event that could help prevent injuries or damage in the future, as occurs with any commercial vessel operating in U.S. waters under similar circumstances," the Coast Guard said in a statement released Thursday. Royal Caribbean will be refunding passenger ticket costs and give a 50 percent discount on a future cruise. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Britain's Worst Weather - Flood

35:57
Subscribe to Naked Science - http://goo.gl/wpc2Q1 Every other Wednesday we present a new video, so join us to see the truth laid bare... What do we talk most about in the United Kingdom? The Great British Weather, it’s part of our culture, we’re obsessed with it, but sometimes it can turn from being a mere talking point, into something deadly. Professor Nick Middleton investigates extreme weather conditions, beginning by focusing on floods including the devastation caused at Boscastle in August 2004, during which more than 100 people were airlifted to safety. He asks whether the London Thames Barrier’s seven-metre-high gates will provide sufficient protection in future years and considers the consequences of London suffering the same fate as New Orleans. Investigating Floods, Storms, Lightning and Snow, this four-part series will combine archive footage of some of the most spectacular weather phenomena ever caught on film with on-location footage of some of the UK's most notorious weather black-spots. Using original footage and Nick Middleton's expert knowledge, the series will provide viewers with the most up-to-date and comprehensive understanding of these ever-increasing natural occurrences.

Sailing into a 50 KNOT GALE- Worst Storm We've Ever Seen- Sailing SV Delos Ep. 93

26:19
Sailing to Madagascar we get hit by the biggest gale we've ever seen. We're about 240 miles East of the northern cape of Madagascar when the GRIB files start to show a compressed pressure gradient and forecasts of 30-40 knots. We shorten sail and prepare for the rough weather. The forecast is way too low and we end up seeing 50 knots of wind and 7-10M (20-30 ft) waves during the worst part of it, which of course happens at night. The crew gets tossed around like crazy and everyone is forced to stay in their bunks while Capt. Breeyawn and The Braidster take 30 minute shifts hand steering down the waves all night long. It's a really intense experience but Delos is a strong boat and takes very good care of us. This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing, but it's also a story about the fantastic people we meet and amazing places we see. Worst tidal surge in 60 years batters UK east coast and drags homes into the sea

02:23
Subscribe to ITN News: http://bit.ly/itnytsub Homes were destroyed as the worst tidal surge to hit the UK in 60 years struck the east coast of Britain on Thursday. The Environmental Agency estimated that sea defences protected more than 800,000 homes, but when the surge combined with high tides and strong winds many barriers were breached. Repair works are now underway in many communities. In Hemsby in Norfolk seven houses were toppled from their clifftop positions and collapsed into the sea. Thousands of homes along the east coast were evacuated as the North Sea reached higher levels than it did during the devastating floods of 1953. Two people died in Thursday's storms, but the weather is now said to be easing, however, flooding is expected to continue throughout Friday. Report by Laurie Blake. CRUISE SHIP CAUGHT IN A BOMB CYCLONE (Norwegian Breakaway)

06:40
The New Year's Cruise carrying over 4,000 passengers was caught in a violent winter storm on the way back from the Bahamas. The ship was constantly rocking for 3 days! Although the ship is capable of handling such a storm, we saw some people sleeping in the hallways because of water leaking into their rooms from the balcony doors (or because some thought the ship was going to capsize.) We even saw a family walking around with their life jackets. Peru’s worst weather in two decades leaves 84 dead and 110,000 homeless

02:42
Abnormally high sea temperatures have unleashed the worst heavy rains and floods in Peru in the past two decades. So far this year, officials say 84 people have been killed, 21 are missing, and more than 110,000 were left homeless. Authorities have closed schools as more than half the country is under a state of emergency. 20/32 Mallaig to Oban - More bad weather and a dreadful forecast!

06:03
The boat insurance people who share your passion…http://www.boatinsure.co.uk http://www.boat-zone.com/mbm John and Fionn are wondering where all that calm and sunshine has gone...despite being on the west coast of Scotland the supposed balmy weather delivered by the Gulf Stream seems nowhere to be seen! And to add insult to injury, the supposed new facilities at Mallaig are non-existant too - so they set off for Oban in miserable conditions and low spirits. It proves to be the roughest day either of them have ever experienced on a boat - storms and squalls wash right over the Shark Bay...and a Force 10 is forecast! Sponsored by leading boat insurance specialists Haven Knox-Johnston (http://www.boatinsure.co.uk) For Full Video Transcript: 20/32 Mallaig to Oban – More bad weather and a dreadful forecast! Sponsored by Haven Knox-Johnston, the boat insurance specialist. Well, I knew we were going to get one of these days sooner or later on the trip and here it is. We’re in Mallaig, we’ve got rain – it’s been raining all day and this is the first time we’ve been able to get out on deck – and we’ve got a dreadful forecast. I always knew we’d end up with a few days stuck on a mooring buoy somewhere, hemmed in by the weather, and this looks like being it. We chose coming to Mallaig because the 2011 Guide to Anchorages in Scotland describes Mallaig’s “new harbour yacht facilities, due to open in May 2011 – pontoon births for 45 yachts.” I was really looking forward to that – tying up alongside a pontoon, having some power, water, getting a shower, all the facilities… Unfortunately, so far, the only progress that’s been made on the new yacht marina is a digger and a pile of earth. So I don’t know when it’s going to be finished but it certainly isn’t any help for us. So, we thought we might move on, but we’re really low on fuel because of the voyage we’ve done so far since we last refuelled. So it looks like until tomorrow we’re just stuck on a wet blowy mooring in the rain. We haven’t got petrol, we’ve not managed to have a shower, we haven’t got any diesel so we can’t really go anywhere… that’s the trip - it’s not always going to be flat clam seas and sunshine; we’re always going to get these days as well. And that’s part of voyaging around our country, I suppose. We’re about to leave Mallaig. We’ve got about 25 miles to go heading south-west and it’s heading straight into the sea and into the weather, and it’s been bucketing down with rain all night. The tender was full – it was like a little swimming pool when we got up this morning. I think the first 25 miles this morning are going to be pretty damned unpleasant. But otherwise, we’re gonna be hemmed in by the weather for another week because we’ve seen the forecast (just been up the harbour master’s office) and it’s looking grim. If we get through this stretch we can get inside the Isle of Mull and then there’s gonna be shelter. We’ll go into Tobermory maybe, maybe into Oban… but this bit is the challenge at the moment. Say goodbye, here comes the rain! We’re going to go and hit it now – see ya later camera, see you on the other side hopefully! Ya-ha! [Laughs] We’re in Oban Marina now, enjoying the luxury. We had a pretty rough day yesterday, probably the roughest day at sea that I ever had on this boat, which was great testing the boat and testing ourselves. We left Mallaig in about force 5 to 6, with lots of rainstorms and squalls coming through. I have to admit that after about 15-20 minutes I was wondering whether we’d made the right decision, whether we should run back to Mallaig. But we decided to press ahead, and it was very exciting. It was about 2 ½ hours until we turned into the Sound of Mull and we were just going straight into the sea - fairly decent swell, plus the wind. There were a few times when we went into a wave so heavily that the bow went under and the water actually washed over the bow, over the windscreen, over the chart desk and back off the back of the stern of the boat, and I’ve never, ever had conditions like that. And literally every wave we were just pounding on the waves, water was spraying over the side into my face – I just couldn’t see. It was either rain in my eyes or spray in my eyes – it felt like someone was just permanently throwing buckets of salt water into my face. So it was a real relief when you could actually turn across the waves and suddenly into the tranquillity of the Sound of Mull. So we’ve come down now and moored at the marina at Oban, just across the bay from the town of Oban itself. 11 WORST Cruise Ship Events!

13:00
Top worst cruise ship incidents! These are the worst cruises and cruise ships that sank and the most horrible cruise ship events! 8. Norwegian Dawn Perhaps one of the biggest threats people tend to think about while aboard a cruise ship is a giant wave crashing into it and toppling it over… or an iceberg. Well, people’s nightmares were brought to life on a ship in April 2005. The Norwegian Dawn sailed from New York on the 10th but the sea didn’t strike until its returning voyage. The vessel was sailing through stormy weather when it was hit by three rogue waves in a row! Although they didn’t knock it over, the 70-foot giants caused damage to the ship by breaking many windows on the 9th and 10th decks. They also caused a substantial amount of flooding to 62 staterooms. Plus, the hull of the Dawn was bent when its extra anchor smashed into it. Luckily, only four people ended up with small injuries. The made a diversion to Charleston, South Carolina to fix the ship and continued shortly after to New York. Although they endured a frightening night aboard the Norwegian Dawn, the passengers received half of their money back, half of the cost of a future cruise, and free drinks for the remainder of the trip. 7. Carnival Triumph In February 2013, another unfortunate event took place aboard the Carnival Triumph. Passengers delighted in pina-coladas and sunbathing when the ship began its voyage; however, about halfway through the cruise, something adverse happened. The vessel’s engine room caught fire, causing the Triumph to lose power in the Gulf of Mexico. As you can imagine, losing power means losing just about every convenience a cruise ship has to offer; the propulsion system went down, as well as the air conditioning, lights, and septic system. Passengers were stuck in the middle of the gulf without cool air, warm air, or any place to relieve themselves that wasn’t disgusting. Bags upon bags of human waste piled up around the Triumph, and people were forced to live in the unsanitary conditions for four days as the ship was towed back to shore. Carnival received a lot of backlash for this event as the fire was caused by negligence and improper care of the vessel. The Triumph ultimately earned the name “poop cruise,” which people still use to refer to it today.

Worst Overnighter Yet We rented our kayak at www.pedalspaddles.com in Sechelt. In this video Randall and I are going on a sea kayak trip in Canada, BC. We got caught in bad weather and were glad when we reached a beach with oysters all over it. These oysters were not affected by the red tide, which we double checked with the natives there and with the red tide alarm system online. ----------------------------------------¬----------------------- ►► SOCIAL MEDIA ◄◄ ★ Website ► www.survivallilly.at ★ Facebook ► https://goo.gl/j79k3j ★ Twitter ► https://twitter.com/SurvivalLilly ★ Instagram ► https://instagram.com/survival_lilly/ ----------------------------------------¬----------------------- ►► SUPPORT LILLY ◄◄ ★ Spreadshirt ► https://shop.spreadshirt.com/SurvivalLilly ★ Lilly’s Amazon Store ► http://astore.amazon.com/survlill-20 ★ Paypal ► https://www.paypal.me/SurvivalLilly ----------------------------------------¬----------------------- ►► GEAR AND EQUIPMENT LILLY IS USING ◄◄ ★ Trouser ► http://amzn.to/2aShNpf ★ Survival Knife ► http://amzn.to/2b0TNmb ★ Fire Steel ► http://amzn.to/2aShECh ★ EDC Rucksack ► http://amzn.to/2aYsg3I ★ Bug Out Bag ► http://amzn.to/2aDh5t7 ★ Lilly’s Shoes ► http://amzn.to/2aEnirZ ★ Lilly’s New Camera ► http://amzn.to/2b5w5of If you liked this video, don’t forget to hit the like button and share it with your friends on Facebook ♥ Feel free to subscribe to my channel. ♥ Hello my name is Lilly and I am making videos about primitive living skills, survival, bushcraft, camping gear and prepping. “Freakishly Warm” Arctic Weather Has Scientists Reconsidering Worst-Case Scenarios on Climate Change

07:09
https://democracynow.org - Scientists are expressing dismay over unprecedented warm temperatures in the Arctic. In recent days, temperatures at the North Pole have surged above freezing—even though the sun set last October and won’t rise again until later this month. On the northern tip of Greenland, a meteorological site has logged an unprecedented 61 hours of temperatures above freezing so far in 2018. The record-breaking temperatures are connected to an unusual retreat of sea ice in the sunless Arctic winter. Scientists suggest warming temperatures are eroding the polar vortex, the powerful winds that once cushioned the frozen north. The alarming heat wave is causing scientists to reconsider even their bleakest forecasts of climate change. According to a leaked draft of a scientific report by a United Nations panel of scientists, “The risk of an ice-free Arctic in summer is about 50 per cent or higher,” with warming of between 1.5 and 2.0 degrees Celsius. We speak with Jason Box, professor in glaciology at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland in Copenhagen. Plan & Prepare for Hurricane Florence landfall! Worst Dangers Zones Evacuate! THIS WILL BE VERY BAD

12:47
The models point to a North Carolina landfall but be prepared for surprised. God bless everyone, T https://www.paypal.me/THORnews Tshirts https://hitthebuttonbaby.com/ THORNEWS PO BOX 35946 HOUSTON TEXAS 77235-5946 the crankywxguy blog http://www.stormhamster.com/entry/e090818.htm the wave master https://dabuh.com https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/florence-may-track-near-bermuda-us-east-coast-while-it-restrengthens-in-atlantic/70005975 Florence may track near Bermuda, US East Coast while it restrengthens in Atlantic Florence is forecast to restrengthen into a hurricane and push close to Bermuda and the United States East Coast this week. Florence may evolve into a serious direct threat. Florence is a relatively small tropical system, and small tropical systems are very vulnerable to both ideal and poor environmental conditions. After forming near the Cabo Verde Islands last weekend, Florence became the first Category 4 hurricane of the 2018 Atlantic season as it entered a zone of low wind shear and sufficiently warm waters last week. Wind shear is the increase in wind speed and change in wind direction with either increasing altitude or over a horizontal distance. High wind shear can prevent a tropical storm from forming and cause a well-developed hurricane to weaken. A zone of strong wind shear has caused Florence to weaken to a tropical storm. Additional fluctuations in strength are anticipated. Over the next few days, wind shear is forecast to diminish, while at the same time Florence moves over much warmer water. As a result, AccuWeather meteorologists expect Florence to gain strength. The movement of Florence is likely to remain steady in the short term, but a deviation in the path may develop this week. "An area of high pressure over the central Atlantic will bridge westward and join with an existing high pressure near the U.S. East coast over the next several days," according to AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski. "This setup will guide Florence on a west to northwesterly course this week," Kottlowski said. If the high pressure area weakens, then Florence may be able to curve northward then northeastward out to sea with impacts in the U.S. limited to an indirect nature with rough surf and heavy seas. However, if the high pressure area remains strong, then Florence may complete a 3,500-mile-long journey over the Atlantic and be guided right into the U.S. East Coast somewhere from the Carolinas to southern New England sometime during the second half of the week. AccuWeather meteorologists are favoring this latter solution, which will bring more severe impacts to the U.S. East Coast. Depending on the strength of Florence at that time, such a landfall could have severe consequences in terms of wind damage, coastal storm surge and inland flooding from torrential rainfall. The flood risk would be even higher for areas in the eastern U.S. that have seen rounds of heavy rain in recent weeks. There is the potential for Florence to regain Category 4 hurricane status this week. States of emergency have already been declared in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia due to the possible impacts from Florence. Prior to the chance of Florence reaching the U.S. East Coast, Bermuda will face rough surf and an increase in rip currents as the storm likely passes to the south of the island. Swells propagating outward will build northwestward a thousand miles ahead of Florence this week. The swells will make for rough seas along and well off the U.S. coast, Bermuda, the northern shores of the Caribbean islands and the south- and southeast-facing shores of the Canada Maritimes. The surf may be especially hazardous, since most lifeguards are not on duty past Labor Day. There is the potential for significant beach erosion in lieu of a direct strike. "While it is too early to change plans, all interests along the East Coast of the U.S. should closely monitor the movement of Florence," Kottlowski said. If property owners in these areas have not yet prepared for hurricane season and formulated a plan of action, now may be the time. There is the potential that cruise lines may have to alter their itinerary and freighters may have to delay or alter their routes.
