I feel like I'm being sold something or he feels like he has something to prove in the way and intonation he is speaking, talk like you are speaking to a real person. The high pitch is hard to listen to.

davesguitarplanet (3 months ago)
Interesting to see this vid was not everyone's 'cup of tea.' I thought it was fantastic. No messing around, straight to the point. If he goes too fast, there's always pause and rewind. Exactly the kind of info I was looking for. (But yeah, I guess voice could have been slightly less "enthusiastic." ;-) )

Your static, HTML based website may look good but it has got some characteristic issues which might bug you. If your website is having some problem or you want to deliberately change or modify the contents, design or themes of your website. Using HTML architecture, you need to edit each and every HTML code to bring such modifications. It’s very laborious and time consuming as well. So what is the solution? The more creative and dynamic platform is the WordPress. Not only can you get rid of all the shortcomings associated with the Static nature of HTML based websites but also add an array of different attributes, frequent updates and more security by adapting to WordPress. Anyways, read the below. This might help. https://www.namasteui.com/top-reasons-to-convert-your-static-html-site-to-wordpress/ -- Regards, Sourav Basak Namaste UI

Wordpress has a lot problems it doesn't give you My Sites, Switch My Sites which sucks. HTML you can create a lot websites and bootstrap looks like Wordpress.

I've been recreating HTML sites with Divi, and Genesis before that. I haven't needed to do a direct HTML to WordPress conversion yet, but this is easier than I thought it would be. I may try one for fun!

you also missed an inbetween option, grab a crawler or service to make a site map then look at wp page or post structure in db after picking a theme. write a few loops to hit 1)hit each page 2)break it apart into headers etc 3)spit that into what ever name mysql is going by these days

It's only been since like 70s that it became male dominated. If the feminists didn't insist on a fed up narrative more people might know that

Very good presentation. I like how descriptive you were.
Can you tell me how you created those files like Style.css, and put them in the folder? XD Other than that, I got it. I just dont understand how come, you open a window, type down the names and that's it. you got them in the folder.
Abdul Basit Rana (7 months ago)
To create those files open a text editor, open a new file and then save those files in the respected folder with their respected names one by one. Thats all.

If you dont have a "sidebar" you dont have to create a separate page, you can just skip that part

There are some good options here but I think you could have done a bit more research and looked into WordPress theme builders or creators. i.e. Pinegrow. It can convert literally any site into a WordPress theme pretty easily.

HTML Import 2 This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest three major releases of WordPress. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress. This must be a problem, surely? Why is this blog from Feb 2015 being resurrected now?
Robert Barrow (11 months ago)
Yep it’s buggy as hell, doesn’t work with php 7.X and doesn’t seem to convert in-site links properly
Eunice Hart (1 year ago)
I have a question and the blog post is so old comments are closed. I have a website I can see replicating easily in WP with or without Divi. The problem is the navigation and logo at the top. The logo is one color on the homepage but another color on the rest of the pages. Same for the navigation. Making them all the same color would cause a conflict on the rest of the site. Any suggestions on how to handle this: www.richws.com Thanks
Matthew Bourne (1 year ago)
Surround the existing logo code in the header.php template file with if( is_front_page() ) and then do an else statement to include the alternative logo instead. If your header.php file is using the body_class() function then you should be able to style menu items dependent on the page that is being viewed as different CSS classes will be being applied to the <body> tag on each page...

Yes i think this is the worst video I've seen on this topic . But it is What it is ...
Michelle w. (4 months ago)
Bill Luhrs you have no clue what you‘re talking about billy boy LOL. Bytheway: Great Tutorial!
Mj Daly (9 months ago)
May i ask why ?
Matthew Bourne (1 year ago)
This seems a little rushed and doesn't explain how to make a dynamic menu or sidebar area. If you're going to do tutorials like this, then at least spend a little more time and do them properly. You might as well stick with a HTML site as you're still going to have to edit HTML from following 'Option 1'...
Matthew Bourne (5 months ago)
+Bailey Paserk - Yes, I know how to convert a HTML website to a WordPress theme (I'm a WP developer). I was just commenting on the fact that so much detail had been left out of this video, making it, effectively, useless... The WordPress menu will not be built automatically just by copying across HTML code into your theme files, additional coding will be required in order to have the menu created and displayed in the same way as the HTML template (and to have it editable/manageable from within the WordPress admin) - please see: https://codex.wordpress.org/Navigation_Menus
Bailey Paserk (5 months ago)
+Matthew Bourne hey did you ever figure this out? Not sure If this helps, but I'm pretty sure that the wordpress menu will be built in when you combine it with the rest of the wordpress files. So there would be two menus when you log in as admin. Site menu, and wp menu
Matthew Bourne (1 year ago)
Obviously more than you expected... How about converting the menu to a WordPress menu that you can actually edit from the admin? Or how about making the sidebar editable within the WordPress admin area with widgets? There's absolutely no point converting a static HTML website to WordPress if the elements of the website are to remain static...
Matthew Bourne (1 year ago)
You REALLY sound like you know what you are talking about... So please explain what the point of converting a 'Static HTML' website to WordPress? Oh, that's right, to MAKE it dynamic... Wow, you must be a great developer...
